McGinnis, Sara Cooksey

KINGS MOUNTAIN -- Sara Cooksey McGinnis, age 76, resident of 907 Sherwood Lane, died May 3, 2001 at the Harris Hospice Unit at Presbyterian Hospital, Charlotte, NC. She was a native of Mecklenburg County, NC, and daughter of the late Oliver Lecil and Dreddie Robinson Cooksey; and wife of the late Donald Harris McGinnis. She was also preceded in death by brother Lonnie B. Mann, Jr. She was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church, Kings Mountain and was a homemaker.

Survivors are her son Kevin L. McGinnis of Kings Mountain, and cousin, Virginia Festerman of Cornelius, NC.

funeral service will be held at 2pm, Saturday, May 5, 2001 at Resurrection Lutheran Church, Rev. Ken Gillikin officiating. Interment will be at Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain. The family will receive friends from 7-9pm Friday night, May 4, 2001 at Harris Funeral Home, Kings Mountain.

Memorials may be made to Resurrection Lutheran Church, 600 Crescent Circle, Kings, Mountain, NC 28086.

Arrangements are in the care of Harris Funeral Home, Inc., Kings Mountain, North Carolina.

Maxwell, Raymond Reid `Junior`

FOREST CITY -- Mr. Raymond Reid `Junior` Maxwell, 67, died May 3, 2001. Memorial service is 8 pm Friday, May 4, 2001 at Crowe's Funeral Chapel. Visitation is 6-8 pm tonight at the funeral home. Crowe's Funeral Home is in charge.

Fulbright, Kathy Louise

STATESVILLE -- Mrs. Kathy Louise Fulbright, 49, died May 2, 2001. Funeral is 4 p.m. today at Beulah Baptist Church. Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home is in charge.

Cook, Robert Louis

PONCHATOULA, LA -- Mr. Robert Louis Cook, 83, died May 2, 2001 at North Oaks Medical Center.

Graveside services on Friday, May 4, 2001 at Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge, LA at 1 PM. Interment will be in Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge.

A native of Charlotte, North Carolina, Mr. Cook was a retired auto parts salesman.

Surviving are his daughter & son-in-law, Margaretta "Hannah" Cook Howard and James E. Howard, Ponchatoula; and two grandchildren, James Robert Howard, Lubbock, TX, and Jeffrey Todd Howard, Albany.

Mr. Cook was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Marze Cook and parents, Louis and Margaretta Eberhardt Cook.

Robinson, Brenda Joyce Greene

LEXINGTON -- Brenda Joyce Greene Robinson, 52, died Thursday, May 3, 2001. Funeral 2:30pm Saturday, Davidson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel; burial Lexington City Cemetery. Visitation 6:30-8:30pm Friday, Davidson Funeral Home.

Dillard, Mabel Stoney

Mrs. Mabel Stoney Dillard, 72, died May 3, 2001 at Carolinas Medical Center. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time, but have been entrusted to Alexander Funeral Home of Charlotte.

Thorne, Lillian Culbreth

SPINDALE -- Mrs. Lillian Culbreth Thorne, 79, died May 3, 2001. Memorial service is 7 pm tonight at Spencer Baptist Church, interment in Sunset Memorial Park, Forest City. Visitation to follow service. Crowe Mortuary is in charge.

Lowry, James P.

CHARLOTTE -- Mr. James P. Lowry, 75, of Dean Street, Charlotte, died April 28, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital.

funeral service is noon Saturday, May 5, 2001, at First Mayfield Memorial Baptist Church, with Reverend Dr. Paul Drummon officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Chester, SC. The family will receive friends from 11 am until noon Saturday at the church.

Born in Chester County, SC, Mr. Lowry had retired in 1989 from his position as a crankshaft specialist with American Crankshaft Co. He was educated in the South Carolina Public School system, and attended Carver College. Mr. Lowry served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of First Mayfield Baptist Church, and was an active member of the Paul Droyton Masonic Lodge.

Mr. Lowry is survived by his wife, Irene Neal Lowry of Charlotte; three sisters, Mary Griffin of Wilmington, NC, Ella Bell Marshall (Joseph Lee) of Baltimore, MD, and Elfredia Thompson (David) of Charlotte; one daughter-in-law, Eunice Brier of Charlotte; and one son, James Edward Fee of Charlotte.

Grier Funeral Home of Charlotte is serving the family of Mr. Lowry.

McDonald, Samella Watson

Mrs. Samella Watson McDonald, 85, of 1708 Newland Road, Charlotte, died on Sunday, April 29, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 5, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke Baptist Church, Rev. Matthews, officiating Interment will follow at Sunset Memory Garden. Visitation will be Saturday, one hour prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. McDonald was born in Bamberg, S.C. and she attended school in Bamberg, S.C. for 12 years. She attended St. Luke Baptist Church for 30 years, worked faithfully on the Pastor's Aide Board and sang with the Senior Choir.

Survivors are daughters, Ms. Arabella Ingram, Mrs. Rosa Mae Howard, Mrs. Deborah Williams, Ms. Altavia Craig, and Mrs. Constance Boyd; and sons, Arthur J. McDonald, Harry McDonald, Jr., and Frank McDonald, Sr., all of Charlotte, N.C.

Grier funeral service is in charge of arrangements.

CHESTERFIELD -- Mozelle Covington, 84, died Thursday, May 3, 2001. Arrangements are incomplete at this time and are entrusted to Flemming Funeral Home of Chesterfield.

LENOIR -- Ms. Kathy May Greer, 40, died May 2, 2001. Graveside service is 11 am Friday, May 4, 2001 at Littlejohn United Methodist Church Cemetery. Greer-McElveen Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Downer, Charles Thomas

LILESVILLE -- Mr. Charles Thomas Downer, 76, died May 2, 2001. Graveside service is 4 pm today in Savannah United Methodist Church Cemetery. The arrangements are in the care of Leavitt Funeral Home in Wadesboro.

Sadler, Doris Barber

Mrs. Doris Barber Sadler, 62, of Woodland Lane, Charlotte, died April 29, 2001 at Presbyterian Hospital.

funeral service is 3 pm Sunday, May 6, 2001 at Woodland Presbyterian Church, with Reverend Larry Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm Sunday at the church, prior to the service. Mrs. Sadler was a member of Woodland Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by her husband, William Sadler; one son, William A. Sadler; one daughter, Minister Lavonne Sadler; two sisters, Sharon B. Blanks (Sidney), and Rose B. Johnson (Tracy), all of Charlotte; two brothers, Rev. Samuel H. Barber, Jr. (JoAnn), and William A. Barber (Dena), both of Gastonia; as well as six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Grier funeral service of Charlotte is serving the family of Mrs. Sadler.

Ramsey, Ruby Godsey

FOREST CITY -- Mrs. Ruby Godsey Ramsey, 81, of Tampa, FL and formerly of Forest City, died May 1, 2001. Graveside service 11 am Saturday, Floyd's Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, visitation to follow service. Harrelson Funeral Home is in charge.

Finger, Henry Lohr (Junie)

SHERRILLS FORD -- Henry Lohr (Junie) Finger, Jr., 68, died May 3, 2001. Memorial Service is 6 p.m. Saturday at Grace Reformed United Church of Christ. Visitation will follow the service at the church. Willis-Reynolds Funeral Home is in charge.

Cashion, Evelyn Margaret

LINCOLNTON -- Mrs. Evelyn Margaret Cashion, 85, of Cardinal Care and formerly of Boger City, died Tuesday, May 2, 2001.

A graveside service will be 11am Saturday at Hollybrook Cemetery with Rev. Lynn Caldwell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Warlick Funeral Home.

Mrs. Cashion was born on August 13, 1915 in Lincoln County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Margaret Boggs Coleman. She was a retired sales associate of Woodward and Lothrop Department Store in Washington, DC.

Survivors include one brother, Henry and wife Esther Cashion of Falls Church, Virginia; a sister-in-law, Sue Cashion of Boger City; nieces and nephews, Kate and Bob Johnson, Ann and Graham Sharpe, June and Steve McCormick, Coleman and Sandy Cashion.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Boger City United Methodist Church, 2320 East Main Street, Lincolnton, NC 28092.

Warlick Funeral Home is assisting the family of Mrs. Cashion.

ROCKINGHAM -- Katherine Gee Quick, 80, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001. Funeral 11am Saturday, Watson-King Funeral Home Chapel; burial at Richmond County Memorial Park. Visitation Friday, 7-9pm, Watson-King Funeral Home, entrusted.

David Adams, 41, of 2634 Old Steele Creek Road, died May 1st, 2001 at his residence. Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 5th, 3 PM at Family Mortuary. Visitation begins at 2:30 PM.

Bost, Billy J.

MOORESVILLE -- Mr. Billy J. Bost, 70, died May 2, 2001. Funeral is 11 am Saturday at Neill Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation is 6-8 pm tonight at the funeral home. Neill Funeral Home of Mooresville is in charge of arrangements.

Riley, Charles J.

PATRICK -- Mr. Charles J. Riley, Jr., 67, died Wednesday, May 2, 2001. Funeral services will be 4:00 PM Friday, May 4, 2001 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel, Chesterfield, SC. Burial will be in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens, Cheraw, SC.

Mr. Riley was born in Marlboro County, a son of the late Rev. C.J. and Maggie Butler Riley. He was a retired employee of Ina Bearing Co. Mr. Riley was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille Griggs Riley, of the home; 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Linda Riley, and Rex and Debbie Riley, all of Cheraw, SC, and Joey and Donna Riley of Lancaster, SC; 1 daughter, Debbie Riley of the home; 1 sister, Dorothy Outen of Pageland, SC; 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home is serving the Riley family.

Morgan, Donald F.

MORGANTON -- Mr. Donald F. Morgan, 65, died May 9, 2001 at Grace Hospital in Morganton. Funeral Arrangements are incomplete. Carothers Funeral Home in Mt. Holly is serving the family.
