Andrew Fredryck Redman

Born: July 23, 1947
Died: October 7, 2004

Concord, NC - Andrew Fredryck "Andy" Redman, 57, with all the grace and courage that characterized his life, passed onto death on Thursday, October 7, 2004. Although the hour was late, Andy's home was filled with many people he loved dearly.
Left to grieve him are his loving wife, Anne; sons, Garry and Loretta and their children of Kannapolis, David and Tammy and their children of Concord, and Steven of Fayetteville, serving in the US Air Force. Also surviving are Mr. Redman's brother, Andre of NSW, Australia; and sister Jeannine and Robert Harrison of Wells, Somerset, UK; sisters-in-law, Cynthia Sweet and Roberta McCartney and families of Elmira, NY; and ex-wife, Linda Redman of Prattsburgh, NY.
Andrew was born in Bolton, Lancashire England on July 23, 1947 to the late Andre and Bertha Whittle Redman. He proudly served in the Royal Navy, and owned several businesses in the UK before coming to the States, where he operated the Firewood Factory in Prattsburgh, NY and was a member of Bath Rod and Gun Club. After moving to North Carolina, he was employed by Food Lion Transportation for several years.
Andy eagerly awaited the arrival of his new grandson, but Matthew will have to know Granddad through prayer and our loving memories, because God deemed an end to a hard-fought battle with brain cancer. His greatest gifts were his sense of fairness, humor, and genuinely unassuming nature--the quality that attracted people to him who would be lifelong friends. Those special people are too numerous to name here, but Andy's wife and sons are eternally grateful to each and every one who rallied to visit or call, send a card everyday, and remind him how much he was loved. You give great meaning to the word friendship, those of you who maintained ties from New York or from working together at Food Lion. Andy had a special place in his heart for many of our dear neighbors and Dr. Harold Thomas and staff.
Family and friends will be received at Lady's Funeral Home, 268 N. Cannon Blvd., Kannapolis, NC on Sunday, October 10, 2004 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The family genuinely appreciates all that has been given to us already, on Andy's behalf, and we invite any who wish to offer additional gifts to consider a donation to Duke Comprehensive Cancer Center, Brain Tumor Research, Attn: Dr. Ellen Stainback, 3828 DUMC, Durham, NC 27710 or Hospice of Cabarrus County, Inc., PO Box 1235, Concord, NC 28026 in Andy's memory.
