Concord, NC - Ms. Gladys Lucille Little, 79, of 2721 South Ridge Avenue, Concord, NC, died Monday, June 10, 2002, at NorthEast Medical Center in Concord.
An 11:00 AM graveside service is scheduled for Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 PM Tuesday at Lady’s Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Ms. Little.
Ms. Little was born November 1, 1922 in Cabarrus County, NC. She was a daughter of the late Henry Little and Lunianer Hough Little. She was a retired employee of Cannon Mills.
Ms. Little is survived by her son, Bobby Lee Fink of Winnabow, NC; sister, Fannie Mae Sherrill of Kannapolis, NC; two brothers, Archie Little of Kannapolis and Walter “Pete” Little of Concord; one grandson, Bobby Lee Fink, Jr. of Winnabow, NC; three step-grandchildren, Dean Boyd of Davidson, NC, Jimmy Boyd and William Boyd, both of Carnegie, OK; five great grandchildren.
Pauline Baucom DeMarcus

Kannapolis, NC - Mrs. Pauline Baucom DeMarcus, 88, of 820 Elm Street, Kannapolis, died Monday, June 10, 2002, at Universal Healthcare in Concord after ten months of declining health and one week of serious illness.
A graveside service is scheduled for 3:30 PM Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at Kannapolis Cemetery. Dr. Joseph Crawford will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 3:30 PM Wednesday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mrs. DeMarcus was born July 9, 1913 in Richmond County, NC. She was a daughter of the late Samuel Baucom and Nellie Frances Swink Baucom. She retired from Cannon Mills after 47 years of service in the personnel order department. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Junius DeMarcus, on April 2, 1988.
Mrs. DeMarcus is survived by her daughter, Frances R. Hendrix of Kannapolis; two grandchildren, Jane Abernathy of Mooresville, and Terri Morgan of China Grove; five great grandchildren, Meghan, Brandon, and Bailey Abernathy, and Raegan and Carly Morgan.

Charles Worth Stimson

Kannapolis, NC - Mr. Charles Worth Stimson, 68, of 900 Polo Avenue, Kannapolis, died Sunday, June 16, 2002, at NorthEast Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at First Assembly Worship Center in Concord. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The Rev. Sam Farina and Dr. Dale Tanner will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 PM Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence.
Born April 3, 1934, in Cabarrus County, he was a son of the late James Worth Stimson and the late Idell Smith Stimson. Mr. Stimson was a purchasing agent for Bico, Incorporated in Charlotte. He was an active member of First Assembly of God in Concord. He was a former member of the Concord Optimist Club and Full Gospel Businessmen. For many years he was active in lay witness renewal with the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Bentley Stimson; a daughter, Lisa Stimson Cobb of Kannapolis; and one granddaughter, Rebecca Blair Jones of Kannapolis.

L. C. Gearing

China Grove, NC - Mr. L. C. Gearing, 72, of 435 Sylvan Road, China Grove, NC, died Monday, June 17, 2002, at Big Elm Nursing Center in Kannapolis.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Wednesday, June 19, 2002, at the National Cemetery in Salisbury.
The family will receive friends following the graveside service.
Mr. Gearing was born September 28, 1929 in Madison County, GA. He was a son of the late Lewis W. Gearing and Clydie Scarborough Gearing. He was a truck driver for Southeastern and Northeastern Motor Lines. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army having served in Korea, where he received the Purple Heart.
Mr. Gearing is survived by his son, Terry M. Gearing of Kannapolis; two brothers, Herman Gearing of Kannapolis, and C. D. Gearing of Concord; two sisters, Gertrude Freeze of China Grove, and Pauline Hersey of New London.
Mattie Mullis Williams

Kannapolis, NC - Mrs. Mattie Mullis Williams, 77, a resident of Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Monroe and formerly of Kannapolis, died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at the nursing center.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 22, 2002, at Mills Chapel Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Rom Kerley, Elder Joe Helms and Elder Larry Austin officiating. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home. At other times they will be at their respective homes.
Born February 2, 1925, in Marshville, NC, she was a daughter of the late Lewis Mullis and the late Radah Tarleton Mullis. She retired several years ago from the sewing room of Cannon Mills, Plant One in Kannapolis. Her husband, Buren Lee Williams, preceded her in death on October 14, 1981.
Survivors include two daughters, Lorraine Shue and her husband, Reid, of Mt. Pleasant, Belinda Napier and her husband, Donnie, of Polkton; two sons, Rommie Williams and his wife, Sonya, of Marshville, Randy Williams and his wife, Susan, of Kannapolis; a sister, Jewel Thomas of Marshville; a brother, L. D. Mullis of Marshville; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Ruth McBride Shoemaker

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, June 21, 2002, at Franklin Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Jernigan officiating. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

Born December 12, 1923, in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Charles A. McBride and the late Mary Dean McBride. Mrs. Shoemaker was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Linda F. Crisp and her husband, Ansel, of York, SC; a sister, Grace M. Bullaboy of Kannapolis; a brother, Floyd G. McBride of Kannapolis; four grandchildren, Ginger F. Bolin, Tiffany F. Horton, W. Craig Crisp and Clayton J. Crisp; and seven great-grandchildren.

Pauline Stegall Mills

Kannapolis, NC - Mrs. Pauline Stegall Mills, 79, of 6610 Charlie Walker Road, Kannapolis, died Saturday, June 22, 2002, at her residence.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:30 PM Monday, June 24, 2002, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Curtis Stegall will officiate. Interment will follow at Glenwood Memorial Park in Mooresville.
The family will receive friends 6 to 8:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home. At other times they will be at the residence.
Born April 18, 1923, in Union County, NC, she was a daughter of the late Curtis Ray Stegall and the late Alice Burgess Stegall. Mrs. Mills had lived in this area for 22 years. She was formerly employed with Draymore Manufacturing in Mooresville.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Curtis Mills, who died December 28, 1994; a daughter, Mary Gaines; and two brothers, Bobby and Ray Stegall.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn M. Benton and Margaret M. Barnette, both of Kannapolis; two sons, Harold D. Mills of Salisbury, James P. Mills of Youngsville, NC; a sister, Laura Love and her husband, Tommy, of Monroe; two brothers, Albert Stegall and his wife, Violet, of Marshville, Edmond Stegall and his wife, Vera, of Huntersville; thirteen grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Hazel Morris Joines

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Friday, June 28, 2002, at Landis First Assembly of God. Rev. William H. Coughlin will officiate. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.

Mrs. Joines was born October 26, 1925 in Rowan County. She was a daughter of the late James Morris and Lula Knight Morris. She retired from Corriher Mills and was a member of Landis First Assembly of God.
Mrs. Joines was preceded in death by her husband, Vaughn Thomas Joines, and her daughter, Kathy Earlean Richardson.
Mrs. Joines is survived by a step-son, Lloyd Joines, of Landis; sister, Mildred Axsom, of China Grove; two step-grandchildren, Crystal and Brandi Joines; and one step-great grandchild, Dakota Joines.

Mrs. Yost was born February 14, 1928 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late Paul B. Yost and Ella Parker Yost. She retired from Cannon Mills and was a member of Charity Baptist Church.
Mrs. Yost is survived by her husband, Hobert L. Yost; son, Eddie Yost, of Charlotte; sister, Beulah Kincaid, of Lenoir, NC; and four grandchildren.

Virginia Henderson Smith

Mrs. Smith was born December 21, 1917 in Cabarrus County. She was the daughter of the late Marshall William Henderson and Lela Beatrice Walker Henderson. She retired for Spinning Room Seven of Cannon Mills Plant One. She was a member of North Kannapolis Methodist Church.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Smith, on February 11, 1996, and a brother, Gene Henderson.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her son, Steve E. Smith, of Concord; and three brothers, Leonard, Clyde, and Edd Henderson, all of Kannapolis.
