KANNAPOLIS, NC - Kathleen K. Bennett, 77, of 432 Oak Avenue, Kannapolis, died Tuesday, August 19, 2003, at NorthEast Medical Center, following 18 months of declining health and a serious illness of one day.
Funeral services will be conducted 7:30 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2003, at Kannapolis Church of God. The Rev. Sam Crisp will officiate. Interment will be 11 a.m. Friday at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Kannapolis Church of God. At other times they will be at the residence.
Born August 7, 1926, in Abingdon, Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Robert Kelsey and the late Pearl Graybeal Kelsey. Mrs. Bennett retired several years ago from the washcloth department of Cannon Mills. She was a member of Kannapolis Church of God where she was active in the Hannah Circle and the Helping Hands Ministries.
Survivors include her husband, Gordon Wally Bennett; and a daughter, Patsy B. Beck and her husband, David, of Charlotte.
Memorials may be made of Kannapolis Church of God, Helping Hands Ministries, 2211 West A Street, Kannapolis, NC 28081.

Nancy Priddy Wright

BIRTH DATE: August 16, 1949
DEATH DATE: August 22, 2003

CHINA GROVE, NC - Mrs. Nancy Priddy Wright, 54, of 30901 Ole Walter Farm Road, China Grove, died Friday, August 22, 2003, at her home after three years of declining health and two weeks of serious illness.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 26, 2003, at Main Street Baptist Church. The body will be in-state at the church from 1 to 2:00 Pm Tuesday prior to the service. Rev. Larry Beaver will officiate. Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9:00 PM Monday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Mrs. Wright.
Mrs. Wright was born August 16, 1949 in Cabarrus County. She was a daughter of the late Paul Woodrow Priddy and Josephine May Hoce Priddy. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Priddy, and a sister, Rosemary Benefield.
Mrs. Wright is survived by her husband, Bernard M. Wright; daughter, Dana Burris of China Grove; three sons, Jackie D. Meece and Donald Gene Meece, both of China Grove, Joseph Dale Meece of Concord; two step-sons, Jodie Wright and Scott Wright, both of Kannapolis, Eric Wright and Kenny Wright, both of China Grove; sister, Judi Black of Kannapolis; three brothers, Bob Priddy of Orlando, FL, Paul Priddy and Jim Priddy, both of China Grove; and eleven grandchildren.

Mary Brooks Dover

BIRTH DATE: May 18, 1918
DEATH DATE: August 26, 2003

LANDIS, NC - Mrs. Mary Brooks Dover, 85, of 903 N. Chapel Street, Landis, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, August 26, 2003, at Rowan Regional Medical Center in Salisbury.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday, August 29, 2003, at South China Grove Baptist Church. The Rev. Derald Adams will officiate. Interment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park in China Grove.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Lady's Funeral Home in Kannapolis. At other times they will be at the residence.
Born May 18, 1918, in Oglethorpe County, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Warren P. Brooks and the late Annie Laura Smith Brooks. Mrs. Dover was a homemaker and previously worked in the sewing room of Cannon Mills, Plant One in Kannapolis. She had lived in this area since 1942 and was a member of South China Grove Baptist Church where she was a former Sunday School teacher and a member of the WMU. She had three goals in life, to be a good wife, mother and Christian, and she far exceeded each and every goal.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Jessie Claude Dover, Sr., on May 8, 2003; a son, Jesse C. Dover, Jr., on April 19, 2001; two sisters, Florice E. Sims and Gladys I. Clark Smith; and a brother, Walter W. Brooks.
Survivors include two daughters, Janeva "Jan" Sides and her husband, Ronnie, of Kannapolis and Cherry Lewis of Landis; a son, Calvin Dover and his wife, Marlene, of China Grove; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 6 step-great-grandchildren; one step-great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to South China Grove Baptist Church, 501 Haney Street, China Grove, NC 28023.

Janie Rodgers Baucom

BIRTH DATE: March 28, 1912
DEATH DATE: August 29, 2003

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mrs. Janie Myers Rodgers Baucom, 91, a resident of Five Oaks Manor and formerly of Dakota Street in Kannapolis, died Friday, August 29, 2003, at Five Oaks Manor.
Funeral services will be conducted 3 p.m. Sunday, August 31, 2003, at Parkwood Baptist Church. The Rev. Darrell Coble and the Rev. Dr. Jill Y. Crainshaw will officiate. Interment will follow at Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery in Concord.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:45 p.m. Sunday at Parkwood Baptist Church. At other times they will be at their respective homes.
Born March 28, 1912, in Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late Paul Kesler Myers and the late Betty Louise Tarleton Myers. Mrs. Baucom retired several years ago from the Washcloth Department of Cannon Mills, Plant One in Kannapolis.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two husbands, Henry Stuart Rodgers and Otto Wayne Baucom.
Survivors include a daughter, Sarah Crainshaw and her husband, Jerry, of Kannapolis; a son, H. S. "Sonny" Rodgers, Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Kannapolis; three grandchildren, Jill Y. Crainshaw, Joel Stuart Crainshaw and Kelly Wayne Rodgers; and four great-grandchildren, Abigail Rodgers, Carson Crainshaw, Chase Crainshaw and Nicholas Crainshaw.
Memorials may be sent to Parkwood Baptist Church, 1069 Central Drive, Concord, NC 28027.

Jesse Joel Robinson, Sr.

BIRTH DATE: January 29, 1930
DEATH DATE: September 5, 2003

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mr. Jesse Joel Robinson, Sr., 73, of 2000 Brantley Road, Kannapolis, died Friday, September 5, 2003, at W.G. Hefner Medical Center in Salisbury.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:30 AM Monday, September 8, 2003, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Leon Hawks will officiate. Graveside services will be at 1:00 PM Monday at the W.G. Hefner V.A. National Cemetery in Salisbury. The Rowan Veterans Council will perform military graveside rites.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7:00 PM Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times, the family will be at the residence of Mr. Robinson.
Mr. Robinson was born January 29, 1930 in Farmville, VA. He was a son of the late Guy Robinson and Caroline Fox Robinson. He was a retired insurance representative and a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Savannah, GA. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of the V.F.W. and the D.A.V.
Mr. Robinson is survived by his wife, Jeanette Kennedy Robinson; daughter, Patricia Russell of the home; two sons, Clyde Myers Robinson and his wife, Terri, of Savannah, GA and Jesse Joel Robinson, Jr., and his wife, Robin, of Kannapolis; two sisters, Ruth Cauble of Richmond, VA and Alice Able of Florida; brother, David Robinson of Woodbridge, VA; five grandchildren, Justin Russell, Ryan Russell, Jennifer Wilson, Kristin Robinson, and Chloé Robinson; one great grandchild, Kailey Russell.

Mary Agnes Webster Caulder

BIRTH DATE: June 23, 1923
DEATH DATE: September 15, 2003

New London, NC - Mrs. Mary Agnes Webster Caulder, 80, of 124 Highland Drive, New London, NC, died Monday, September 15, 2003, at Stanly Manor in Albemarle, NC
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 17, 2003, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 PM Tuesday at Lady's Funeral Home.
Mrs. Caulder was born June 23, 1923 in Chesterfield, SC. She was a daughter of the late Augustus Webster and Myrtle Sellers Webster. She was retired from Cannon Mills. She was a member of Genesis Baptist Church.
Mrs. Caulder was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Caulder, Jr. and her son, Larry Wayne Caulder.
Mrs. Caulder is survived by her daughter, June Caulder Worley and her husband, Charles, of New London; sister, Gladys Knotts of Lilesville, NC; brother, Dwight Webster of Concord; four grandchildren, Brian Keith Caulder, Cheryl Caulder Poos, Kelley Caulder Martin, Star Fraley; eight great grandchildren, Kimberly James, Amber Caulder, Brian Keith Caulder, II, Joseph Martin, Jessica Caulder, Morgan Fraley, Trey Fraley and Matthew Worley.

Richard C. Hall

BIRTH DATE: June 6, 1961
DEATH DATE: October 26, 2003

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mr. Richard C. Hall, 42, of 2601 Pennsylvania Avenue, Kannapolis, died Sunday, October 26, 2003, at NorthEast Medical Center.
A memorial service will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2003, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The body will be taken from Lady's Funeral Home to Memorial Funeral Directory in Princeton, WV where funeral services will be conducted Friday. Interment will be in the Hall Family Cemetery in Princeton.
The family is making headquarters at the home of Bo Davenport, 906 Buick Avenue, Kannapolis.
Born June 6, 1961, in Mercer County, WV, he was a son of Vonibell Hall of Princeton, WV. He had lived in this area for 20 years and was an assistant manager at Arby's Restaurant on South Cannon Boulevard in Kannapolis.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Sivley.
Survivors include his mother, Vonibell Hall of Princeton, WV; four sisters, Connie Ricks and Nancy Bowman, both of Princeton, WV, Susie Bindette of Evansville, Ind., Kathy White of Kannapolis; and many friends and loved ones.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Carl Lee Wilson

BIRTH DATE: May 18, 1939
DEATH DATE: October 31, 2003

CONCORD, NC - Carl Lee "Mutt" Wilson, 64, of 222 Hahn Street, Concord, died Friday, October 31, 2003, at NorthEast Medical Center.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 3, 2003, at New Gilead Reformed United Church of Christ. The Rev. Daniel Smith will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence.
Born May 18, 1939, in Kannapolis, he was a son of the late Charlie Wilson and Annie Cook Wilson. He was a lifelong resident of Kannapolis and attended Winecoff School. He was employed for 47 years at Cannon Mills, Fieldcrest-Cannon and Pillowtex, Plant One in Kannapolis. Mr. Wilson was an active member of the Kannapolis Moose Lodge and was named "Moose of the Year" in 1997, and received the "Fellowship Degree of Honor" in 2001. His Moose Lodge activities also included serving as a trustee and the Inner Guard for District VI. He was a member of New Gilead Reformed United Church of Christ where he served as Sunday School secretary, treasurer; Youth Fellowship leader, and served as a church and civic softball coach.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Brigman; and two brothers, Leroy Wilson and Denell Wilson.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Aldridge Wilson; one daughter, Darlene Wilson Riggs and her husband, Jim Riggs, of Kings Mountain; a brother; Doug Wilson of Kannapolis; two grandchildren, Alan Wilson Riggs and Erin Frances Riggs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to New Gilead Reformed United Church of Christ, 2400 Old Salisbury Concord Road, Concord, NC 28025.

Linda Carol Hartis

BIRTH DATE: December 18, 1955
DEATH DATE: November 4, 2003

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Ms. Linda Carol Hartis, 47, of 2207 Woodlawn Street, Kannapolis, died Tuesday, November 4, 2003.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 8, 2003, at Lady's Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Gene Edwards will officiate. Interment will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Lady's Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the residence.
Born December 18, 1955, in Houston, Texas, she was a daughter of D. S. Hartis and Willie Hunsucker Hartis of Kannapolis. She was employed as a sales associate with Wal-Mart and was formerly employed at NorthEast Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by a nephew, Jason Clarke.
Survivors include her parents, D. S. Hartis and Willie Hunsucker Hartis of Kannapolis; a sister, Sharon Clarke and her husband, Cecil, of Cameron, NC; a nephew, Shannon Clarke of Valdosta, Georgia; two great-nieces, Whitley Agusta Clarke and Sierra Danielle Clarke; and several aunts and uncles.

John Chalmers Eagle, Sr.

BIRTH DATE: March 23, 1913
DEATH DATE: December 1, 2003

KANNAPOLIS, NC - Mr. John Chalmers Eagle, Sr., 90, of 523 Villa Street, Kannapolis, died Monday, December 1, 2003, at his residence.
A memorial service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2003, at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church. The Rev. Richard Rhoades will officiate. Interment will follow at Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Salisbury.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church. At other times they will be at the home of daughter, Yolonda Combs, 388 Laurel Crest Drive, Kannapolis.
Born March 23, 1913, in Rowan County, he was a son of the late John Joseph Eagle and Lizzie Ruth Rufty Eagle. Mr. Eagle formerly owned Eagle's Jewelry in Albemarle. He also managed stores for Leonard's Jewelry of Salisbury. He was a member of Kimball Memorial Lutheran Church, where he was a member of the Christian Fellowship Sunday School Class. He was a volunteer for Hospice of Cabarrus County and had previously served as a major in the Civil Air Patrol in Statesville. He was also a member of the Watchmakers Guild in Kannapolis, Salisbury and Albemarle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Yarborough Eagle; a grandson, Glenn Eric Eagle; and a half-sister, Pearl Leach.
Survivors include his wife, Margalene Hager Shimpock Eagle; two daughters, Nancy Eagle Peyton of Norwood and Yolonda Shimpock Combs and her husband, Mike, of Kannapolis; a son, John Chalmers Eagle, Jr. and his wife, Evelyn, of Charlotte; a half-sister, Louise Basinger of Salisbury; a half-brother, Richard Eller of Salisbury; two step-sisters, Inez Shepherd and Mary Agner, both of Salisbury; two step-brothers, Ned Eller and Floyd Eller, both of Salisbury; five grandchildren, Brian Chalmers Eagle and Theresa Allyson Mauldin, both of Charlotte, Keith Evan Eagle of Denver, NC, Steven Douglas Harper of Albemarle and John Joseph Peyton of Concord; five great-grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Eagle, Christopher Shawn Mauldin, Ashley Page Mauldin, Craig Douglas Harper and Steven Chalmers Harper.
