Mr. R. C. (Clifford) Carter, 100, of Liberty died Wednesday, (08-18-2004) at Sunbridge Health Care in Siler City.
funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Friday, (08-20-2004) at PleasHill Christian Church with Rev. Howard Spray officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Carter was a native of Alamance County and a retired dairy farmer. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church where he served as treasurer for many years.
Survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Doris Daniels of Liberty; son, Bobby Carter of Liberty; sister, Mrs. Polly Ashley of Snow Camp; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Pleasant Hill Christian Church Cemetery Fund.
LOUISE STROWD MOORE
Louise Strowd Moore, 93, of Pittsboro died Friday (08-06-2004).
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, (08-09-2004) at Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, Pittsboro.
Mrs. Moore was a native and lifelong resident of northern Chatham County.
Survivors include her daughter, Frances Strowd Moore Danek of Pittsboro, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

MRS. MARY LOU BROOKS
Mrs. Mary Lou Brooks, 69 died Sunday, (08-08-2004) at Sunbridge Nursing Home.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, (08-11-2004) at 2 p.m. at Jordan Grove AME Zion Church, with Rev. Gene Horton officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Brooks was a native of Chatham County.
Survivors include a daughter, Carolyn Brooks of Roxboro; sister, Mrs. Evelyn McSwain of Siler City; and a brother, Albert Jr. McSwain of Siler City.
Visitation was scheduled for one hour prior to the funeral on Wednesday.
MARSHALL GRAHAM HUSSEY
Mr. Marshall Graham Hussey, 81, of Robbins died Monday, (08-09-2004) at his home.
Funeral services were held Thursday, (08-12-2004) at 2 pm at High Falls Friends Church with Pastor Robert Kidd officiating. Burial with military rites by the Randolph County Honor guard was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hussey was a native of Moore County, a member of High Falls UM Church, a World War II veteran. He was a retired correctional officer for the NC DOT and attended High Falls Friends Church.
Survivors include daughter, Mrs. Martha H. Nichols of Aberdeen; sister, Mrs. Frances Cheek of Robbins; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Wednesday, (08-11-2004) from 6-8 pm at Joyce-Brady Funeral Home in Bennett.
ADELL IRIS ALFORD
Adell Iris Alford, 86, of Chapel Hill, passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at Britthaven of Chapel Hill after a lengthy illness.
She was a homemaker, housewife and a member of Bells Baptist Church in Apex.
Survivors include her husband, James Alford of the home; brother, Robert Hunt of Apex; sisters, Alene Powell of Long Beach, California, and Eunice Boggs of Chapel Hill; nephews, Herbert Monroe McCartney, William Thomas Alford, Eddie Kimball, Stanley Lloyd Alford, Robert Hunt, Larry Powell, Wayne Powell, Samuel Boggs; nieces, Ann McCartney Earls, Juanita McCartney Frank, Jane McCartney Ingalls, Debra Alford George, Karen Alford Cook, Faye Suitt Rector, Carolyn Suitt, Rachael Alford Waller, Denise Alford Kennedy, Carolyn Hunt Adams, and Vickie Boggs Cecil.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Bells Baptist Church in Apex.

Essie Mae Hussey Moore, 93, of SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation in Asheboro died Sunday, (08-08-2004) at the Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.
Funeral services were held at 4 pm Wednesday, (08-11-2004) at Riverside Baptist Church with Rev. Harold Baker, Rev. Clyde Allen, and Rev. Gerald Hussey. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
She was a Randolph County native, a homemaker, and a member of Riverside Baptist Church.
Survivors include sons, Henry F. Moore of Seagrove, Dempsey Moore of Asheboro, James Lindon Moore of Robbins; daughters, Shirlie Moore Davis of Star, Lucy Jane Moore Williford of Houston, Tx., Betty Ruth Moore of Goldsboro; brother, Carl Hussey of Seagrove; sister, Stella Garner of Robbins; 16 grandchildren, and seven great-grand-children.

Janet Holland “Rita” Willett, 63, of Siler City, died Sunday, (08-08-2004) at Chatham Hospital.
Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday (08-12-2004) at Edward Hill Friends Meeting, Siler City with Rev. David Freeman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Willett was a native of Chatham County, a homemaker, and she attended the Church of God.
Survivors include her husband, S. Tommy Willett of Siler City; daughter, Sandra Gaines Frye of Sanford: sons, Barry Gaines of Goldston, Danny Gaines of Bear Creek; mother, Martha Johnson Holland, of New Hill; brother, Charles William Holland of New Hill; sisters, Annie H. Flinchum of Carthage, Nancy H. Howell of Seagrove, Clara H. Flinchum of Carthage, Lu H. Smith of Fuquay-Varina; and six grandchildren.

Myrtle Evelyne Thompson Lindley, 91, 170 Center Church Road, Pittsboro died Monday, August 2, 2004 at her residence after several months of failing health.
She was a native of Orange County, a homemaker, loving mother and long time member of Center United Methodist Church.
Survivors include sons, Charles & Judy Lindley, Graham, Winfred & Gail Lindley, Alexandria, VA; daughters, Lou & Benny Crutchfield, Graham, Phoebe Lindley, Graham; grandsons; Chuck & Tracey Lindley, Neil & Amy Lindley; granddaughters; Lisa Lindley, Amy & Reid Hargrove, Tracey & Brandon Troxler; great-grandchildren, Lizzie Lindley, Mason Lindley, Nicholas Hargrove, Morgan Troxler, April Troxler and Blair Lindley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Herbert Lindley; parents, Samuel & Lula Thompson; sisters; Elsie Pickard, Vergie Womble; and brothers, Stacy Thompson, Rainey Thompson, and Moody Thompson.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 6, 2004 at Center United Methodist Church with Rev. John Varden and Rev. Derik Davis officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

DORA LEE GOLDSTON HAYES
Dora Lee Goldston Hayes, 57, of Greensboro at Moses Cone Hospital in Greensboro.
Funeral services were held Friday, (07-30-2004) at 2:00 p.m. at Woodard Funeral Home, Inc., in Greensboro. Interment followed at Lakeview Memorial in Greensboro.
She was born in Sanford, a former resident of Goldston, attended Dudley High School in Greensboro and was employed by the City of Greensboro for eight years.
Survivors include: two sons, Antonio Hayes and Alexis Hayes, both of Greensboro; brothers, Donald W. Pearce of Jonesboro, Ga., and Alexis C. Pearce of Charlotte; and one grandson.
MYRTLE MARIE HENDERSON
Mrs. Myrtle Marie Henderson, 92, of Bear Creek died Thursday, (07-29-2004) in Philadelphia, Pa.
Funeral services will be held Friday, (08-06-2004) at 2 p.m. at Centennial AME Zion Church, Bear Creek. Burial will follow in the Centennial cemetery.
Mrs. Henderson was a farmer and a member of Centennial AME Zion Church.
Survivors include daughters, June and Debbie of Philadephia, Pa.; sons, James of Morris Plains, N.J., J.C. and Ronnie of Bear Creek; 16 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Visitation will be Thursday, (08-05-2004) from 7 – 8 p.m. at Centennial Church.
DAVID EUGENE MOODY
David Eugene Moody, 71, of Bear Creek died Tuesday (08-03-2004) at his home.
Graveside services will be held, at 11 a.m., Thursday (08-05-2004) at Sandy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery, Bear Creek with Rev. Robert Capps officiating.
Mr. Moody was a native of Chatham County and was retired from the Chatham County Recycling Center, Bonlee. He was a member of Sandy Branch Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Haymore Moody of the home; daughter, Donna Moody McKay of Spartenburg, S.C.; one granddaughter; brother, James B. Moody of Greensboro; step-daughter, Kathy Key of Sanford; step-sons, Steve Cicogna and Paul Cicogna, both of Sanford; nine step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.
Visitation: 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday (08-04-2004) at the Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City.

TONI ARRANT
Toni Arrant, 70, of Staley, formerly of Franklin passed away Monday, July 26, 2004 in UNC Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill.
Mrs. Arrant was a native of Oracle, Arizona, a daughter of the late Felix and Jesus Chira Munoz, a retired waitress, having worked at Cagles' Restaurant. She was a former member of Prentiss Church of God, where she was member and officer of the S.A.F.E. Club of the Church. She was a member of Siler City Church of God.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 31, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at Prentiss Church of God with Rev. Don Moffitt and Rev. Robert Dryman officiating. Burial was in Rush Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Gary Arrant, Anthony Lujan, Michael Phillips, Matthew Philips, Justin Lujan, Kenny McCune, Alvin Tallent, and Josh Fitch.
A memorial service will be held August 8, 2004 in Siler City Church of God in Siler City.
She is survived by her husband of forty-six years, Robert Wiley Arrant; three daughters, Ann Byrd and husband Mack of Punta Gorda, Fl., Cathy Phillips and husband Johnny of Perry, Ga., and Pat Staley and husband Jeff of Pittsboro; two sons, Rudy Lujan of Sylva, N.C. and Robert Arrant and wife Mary Jo of Franklin, N.C.; two sisters, Mary Rivera and Nellie Munoz, both of Tuscon, Arizona; one brother, Mike Munoz or Oracle, Arizona; and ten grandchildren.
