Mrs. AVIS McKINNEY ELDRED
Mrs. Avis McKinney Eldred, 72, of 114 Dogwood Drive, Mebane, went to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 17, 2004. She was a native of Montpelier, Vermont.
She was preceded in death by her husband Dennis Edson Eldred, a son Jeffery Noice Eldred, a sister Dawn McKinney, and her parents Wayland and Mildred McKinney.
She was a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She was a much loved and respected member of Abundant Life Church in Hillsborough.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Lisa Germain and Ms. Tabetha Eldred, both of the home, Mrs. Sherry McClellan of Wolcott, Vt., and Mrs. Amy Carden of Louisburg, N.C.; five sons, Mr. Nick Eldred of Coolemee, NC., Mr. Matthew Eldred of Mebane, Mr. Gregory Eldred of Greensboro, Mr. Andrew Eldred of New Zealand, and Mr. Daniel Eldred of Mebane; three sisters, Mrs. Wanda Abascal of Northfield, Vt., Mrs. Iona Sweet of the home, and Mrs. Linda Matheson of Burlington; fourteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 pm Saturday, June 19, 2004 at Abundant Life Church, 512 US 70 East, Hillsborough. Burial followed at Oakwood Cemetery in Mebane.

MARGIE McNEILL HUSSEY
Mrs. Margie McNeill Hussey, 82, of Robbins died Monday (06-21-2004) at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, (06-24-2004) at Smyrna United Methodist Church, with Rev. Jimmy Weaver, Rev. Joe Forbes and Rev. Jimmy Tatum officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Hussey was a native of Randolph County, a member of Smyrna United Methodist Church, and retired from Ithaca in Robbins.
Survivors include husband, Elaster “Boob” Hussey of the home; daughter, Ellen Deese of Carthage; sons, Tommy Hussey of Bennett, Roanld Hussey of Robbins; brothers, Garvin McNeill of Biscoe, Richard McNeil of Vass, Paul McNeill of Bear Creek, Roy McNeill of Robbins; sisters, Dora Kennedy, Nettie Reynolds, Maxine Ritter, all of Robbins, Rillie Turner of Troy, Lorene Hussey of Ramseur; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. at Joyce-Brady Funeral Home in Bennett.
ESTA MAE HARMON
Esta Mae Harmon, 83, of Pittsboro died Friday, (06-18-2004) in Laurels of Chatham.
Graveside services were held at 12:30 Sunday, (06-20-2004) at Gum Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Harmon was a native of Surry County, former owner-operator of Sun Valley Restaurant in Pittsboro.
Survivors include daughter, Bonnie Partin of Pittsboro; son, James Hackney of Pittsboro; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Gum Springs Baptist Church.
SANDRA DENISE WILMOTH
Sandra Denise Wilmoth, 42, a resident of Harnett Manor in Lillington died Thursday, (06-10-2004) at Good Hope Hospital in Erwin.
Graveside services were held Sunday, (06-13-2004) at 3 pm at Tipton Family Cemetery near Highfalls with Rev. Eugene Ussery officiating.
Survivors include parents, Brenda Mills of Robbins and Wayne and Libby Wilmoth of Sanford; sisters: Teresa Salmon of Hays, Kim Frye of Southern Pines, Shelia Skula of Sanford; brothers, Joseph Davis of Robbins and Jeffrey Campbell of Sanford; maternal grandmother, Helen Upchurch of Robbins.
JOHN W. HARRIS, JR.
John Wesley Harris, Jr., 75, of Salina, Kansas died Sunday, December 21, 2003.
Graveside memorial services will be held Saturday, (06-19-2004) at 11 a.m. at Sandy Branch Baptist Church in Bear Creek, with Rev. Bob Wachs, officiating.
Survivors include daughters, Pamela and Sharolyn Harris, two granddaughters, and one great grandchild of Kansas; brothers, Raymond, Boyd, Buddy Harris; sisters, Ila Cockerham, Myrtle McGrady, Savannah Stout, Ruby Robinson, Peggy Perry, Anne Speicher, Carol Harris and Mary lee Langley, all of North Carolina.
Memorials may be made to Shriners Crippled Childrens Hospital or to the Sandy Branch Baptist Church Music Fund in memory of parents John and Vavie Harris.
WILLIAM ROGER “BILL” HATHAWAY
William Roger “Bill” Hathaway, 74, of Chapel Hill died Saturday, (06-12-2004) at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Durham.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Tuesday, (06-15-2004) at Griffin funeral service and Cremation in Pittsboro by Rev. John Singletary. Interment will follow in Markham Memorial Gardens in Chapel Hill.
Mr. Hathaway was a native of Johnston County, a member of Pittsboro Baptist Church, and a US Army veteran having served in World War II and Korea. He was a retired automobile mechanic, having worked at Justice Motor Company in Pittsboro and Lewis and Lane Body Shop.
Survivors include son, William Edward Hathaway of Hickory; daughter, Norma Hathaway Shivers of Apex; brother, Travis Wayne Hathaway of Chapel Hill;
sisters, Sheila H. Crabtree, Patricia H. “Patti” Barbour all of Chapel Hill; and three grandchildren.
JEAN HUTCHINS HOWARD
Jean Hutchins Howard, 75, of Siler City died Friday, (06-11-2004) at SunBridge Care Facilities.
Graveside services were held at 3 p.m., Monday, (06-14-2004) at Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City with Rev. Jim Wall, officiating.
Mrs. Howard was a native of Wilkes County, a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include her husband, Leonard B. Howard of Siler City; son, Eddie Hutchins, Jr. of Winston-Salem; step-daughters, Margie H. Hudson, Siler City, Melba H. Goodman, Pittsboro, Darlene H. Willis, Arapahoe; brother, Lester Harrell of Charlotte; three step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
GLADYS ISADORA BUFFKIN MILLICAN
Gladys Isadora Buffkin Millican, 83, of Gulf, died Thursday (06-10-2004) at Laurels of Chatham.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, (06-14-2004) at Bethany Baptist Church with the Rev. Tripp Harmon and Rev. Eugene Powers officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Millican was a native of Horry County, S.C., a member of Bethany Baptist Church where she served as a Deacon and Sunday School Teacher for many years.
She is survived by daughters, Alma Jane Russell of Sanford, Annie Lee Thomas of Pittsboro; brother, Elmore Buffkin, Jr. of Petersburg, Va.; three grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

THOMAS GUTHRIE
Thomas Guthrie, 79, Pittsboro died Monday, (06-14-2004)
Funeral services will be Thursday, (06-17-2004) at 2 p.m. at South Fork Friends Church, Snow Camp with Rev. Billy Joe Brady and Rev. Ronn Oren officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mr. Guthrie was a native of Chatham County, a member of South Fork Friends Meeting and was retired from Van Thomas Contractors, Siler City.
Survivors include wife, Pauline Johnson Guthrie, Pittsboro; sons, James Lee Guthrie and Jerry Guthrie, both of Pittsboro; brother, Raymond Guthrie of Siler City; sister, Louise Guthrie Johnson, Pittsboro; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 16, 2004 from 7 – 9 pm at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City.
DIANNA ANN MARIE LaROCCA
Dianna Ann Marie LaRocca, 24, of Bear Creek died Sunday, (06-13-2004) at her home.
A memorial service will be conducted, by Rev. Kelly Shiflett, at 7 p.m. Thursday, (06-17-2004) at Griffin funeral service and Cremation in Pittsboro. Guests may visit with the LaRocca family immediately following the memorial service.
Dianna was a native of New York and had been employed both in the cleaning business and retail sales.
Survivors include her mother and stepfather, Dianna W. Page and Willie Ray Page of Pittsboro; daughter, Shannon Marie Burke of Pittsboro; step-sisters, Amanda Page of Graham, Amy Seils of Moncure, and Denise Shelton of Siler City.
JAMES LLOYD ALLRED
James Lloyd (Jimmy) Allred, 66, of 407 West Tenth Street, Siler City, died Saturday, June 12, 2004 at UNC Hospital, Chapel Hill.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at the First Baptist Church, 314 North Second Avenue, Siler City with Rev. Jim Wall and Rev. Sue Flippin, officiating. Burial followed in Rocky River Baptist Church Cemetery, Siler City.
Mr. Allred was a native of Siler City, an Army veteran, graduate of Siler City High School, attended Asheboro Commercial College, a member of First Baptist Church and was employed with Acme McCrary, (formerly Glendale) Siler City, for 38 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, George Henry Allred and Joy Fox Allred.
Surviving are his wife, Dawn Umberger Allred of the home; son, Jarrett Lloyd Allred and wife, Natalie of Savannah, GA; sisters, Rebecca Allred Sexton of Asheboro, and Helen Allred Steppe of Snow Camp.
HAZEL NEVILLE MOODY
Hazel Neville Moody, 87, 4000 Glenaire Circle, Cary, N.C., died Thursday, June 10, 2004 at Western Wake Medical Center, Cary.
Funeral services were held Sunday, June 13, 2004 at 3 p.m. at Sandy Branch Baptist Church, 715 Sandy Branch Church Road, Bear Creek, with Rev. Robert Capps, officiating. Burial followed in Sandy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery
Mrs. Moody was a native of Halifax county, attended Meredith College, Sunday School teacher, Youth Group leader, and was a retired bookkeeper with World Book Encyclopedia. She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Donald R. Moody.
Survivors include son, Donald R. Moody, Jr., and wife, Jane of Raleigh; grandsons, Neal Moody and Dale Moody, both of Raleigh; niece, Barbara Brown, Raleigh; cousins, Marjorie Edwards, Raleigh, Sarah Harrison, Enfield, Paul Schnitzer, Cary; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
JAMES KARL BURNSFIELD
James Karl Burnsfield, 46, of 82 Seminole Point Lane, Siler City died Friday, June 22, 2004 at Chatham Hospital, Siler City.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at St. Julia Catholic Parrish, 210 Harold Hart Road, Siler City with Father Joseph Madden, officiating.
Mr. Burnsfield was a native of Wayne County, MI, of the Catholic faith and a self employed computer technician. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Wendell Burnsfield and Lillian Sigrist Burnsfield.
Surviving are sons, James Melvin Burnsfield and wife, Heather of Siler City, Timothy Allen Burnsfield of Moncure; grandchildren, Hallie Nicole Burnsfield, Chelsea Marie Burnsfield, James Austin Burnsfield; sister, Leise Diachenko and husband, Dan of Ortinville, MI; brothers, John Burnsfield and wife, Nancy and Micheal Burnsfield and wife, Lisa, all of Waterford, MI; nieces and nephews, John, Andrew, Alex, Elizabeth, Katlyn, Nicholas, and Sara.
