FRANCES HACKNEY MINTON
Mrs. Frances Hackney Minton, 79, of Greensboro died Monday (07-30-2012) at the Blumenthal Nursing and Center.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel conducted by Reverend J. Brent Thomas and Reverend Paul Doby, Jr. Interment followed in Guilford Memorial Park.

Mrs. Minton was born November 21, 1932 in Chatham County, the daughter of Harold and Ida Dorsett Hackney. A graduate of Silk Hope High School, she attended Kings Business College. She retired as an Administrative Assistant with UNC at Greensboro. Mrs. Minton was a member of Parkway Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Sylvester Prince Minton, her parents, a son, Stephen Edward Mitchell and a sister, Jean H. Burns.

Surviving is her son, Scott Mitchell of Greensboro; sister, Rachel Hackney of Chapel Hill; brothers, Jack Hackney of Graham and Joe Hackney of Chapel Hill.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensbor0, 2500 Summit Avenue, Greensboro, NC 27405.

MAGGIE LEE DAYE
Mrs. Maggie Lee Daye of Siler City died Tuesday, (07-24-2012) at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Funeral services were held Sunday (07-29-2012) at 3 p.m. at Holy Trinity U.H.C.

Mrs. Daye was a graduate of Chatham High School and a member of Holy Trinity United Holy Church.

Surviving are children, Teressa Lee of the home, Veronia Stewart of New Hill, Yolanda Vicente of Siler City; brother, Clarence Lee of Siler City; sister, Christine Lee of Siler City; and five grandchildren.

LOSSIE D. GLOVER
Ms. Lossie D. Glover, 79, of Siler City, formerly of Washington, DC died Thursday (07-26-2012) at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.

Funeral services will be held Saturday (08-04-2012) at 2 p.m. at Harris Grove Baptist Church with burial following in the Town cemetery.

Surviving are her children: Deborah G. Lane, George H. Glover, Jr., Floyd A. Glover, Vargos K. Glover, Rodericus A. Glover: sisters, Jeffery Rattliff; 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.

Knotts & Son Funeral Home, Siler City is assisting the family.

DIXIE PERKINS McCLAIN
Dixie Perkins McClain, 74, of Asheboro, died Monday, (07-30-2012) at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, (08-02-2012) at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel in Ramseur with Rev. Frank Thacker officiating. Burial will follow at Rehobeth United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. McClain was a native of Hoyt, Kansas, retired from Womack Contractors in Virginia Beach, VA., and attended Harmony Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by husband, Roy Eldred McClain.

Survivors include a son, Rocky McClain of Asheboro; daughters, Terri Allen, of Sanford, Tammi Mitchell of Cantonment, FL, Tina Milholen, of Ramseur; brother, Jack Perkins of Ashland, NE; 17 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Loflin Funeral Home & Cremation Service and other times at the home of Tina Milholen, 215 Holly Hill St., Ramseur.

Memorials may be made to, Rehobeth UMC Cemetery Fund, 850 Kildee Church Road, Ramseur, NC 27316; or to Hospice of Randolph County, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204.

THOMAS EDWARD KING
Thomas Edward King, age 84, a resident of 309 Nottingham Drive died late Thursday night at UNC Hospitals.

Born June 21, 1928 in Durham, Mr. King was the son of the late Hubert Howell and Nellie Irene Shepherd King. He attended the Durham County Schools, graduating from Lowes Grove High School. He retired from IBM after 26 years of employment and was a founding member of Hope Valley Baptist Church.

Mr. King and his wife, Bessie Knight were married July 29, 1950. They enjoyed many special moments at Kerr Lake and Emerald Isle. She preceded him in death on February 19, 2005.

He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Anne King.

Surviving are two sons, Ray King (Gayle) and Mark King (Donna), both of Pittsboro; his granddaughter, Kristy Cheek (Synjun) of Pittsboro; two grandsons, Cody King and Justin King, both of Pittsboro; his sister-in-law, Anna Knight Jackson of Durham; and many special nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were conducted Sunday, July 29 at 2 p.m. at the Howerton & Bryan Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Rocky Coyle officiating. Burial was in Maplewood Cemetery, Annex B.

Pallbearers were Don King, David King, Jimmy King, Jim Holland, Johnny Knight, and Buster Canada.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to 4 Life, Inc., a Christian non-profit youth baseball group, 3009 Prophet Drive, Hillsborough, NC 27278.

ANTOINETTE MARY “TONI” TILL
Antoinette Mary “Toni” Till, 70, of 347 South Second Avenue, Siler City, died Friday, July 27, 2012, at Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill.

She was born on June 13, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pa., to Howard and Margaret Moran Till, who preceded her in death.

Survivors include her companion, Harvey Brower; daughters, Holly Kozelsky Quirk of Martinsville, Va. and Siler City; Mara Kozelsky Hunter of Mobile, Ala. and Newport, Rhode Island; sisters, Ginger Gary of Fulton, N.Y., and Juanita Van Decker of New Jersey; brother, Joe Till of Albuquerque, N.M.; and one granddaughter, Mary Evelyn Quirk.

She has a bachelor’s degree from LeMoyne University. She had been a social worker and owned a family care home, from which she retired, and she was an artist.

A memorial service and visitation was held at 6 p.m. Monday at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home in Siler City, and at other times in the home.

Donations in her memory may be made to Chatham Animal Rescue & Education, P.O. Box 610, Pittsboro, N.C. 27312.

Her compassion, kindness and support of loved ones’ educational endeavors touched many lives, and she will be missed.

IRMA “AMINA” BONNE ABDELKADER
Mrs. Irma “Amina” Bonne Abdelkader, 89, of Pittsboro died July 29, 2012 at The Laurels of Chatham.

Amina was born August 19, 1922 in Wondelgem, Belgium, the daughter of Aschel Bonne and Marie Louise deWinne Bonne. She spent time in Cairo, Egypt before moving to the United States in 1974. Mrs. Abdelkader moved to Pittsboro, NC in 1988, where she was a very active craftsman with specialty in Belgium Battenberg lace, which she learned at a very young age in her native Belgium.

Amina was honorably chosen to join the “Village of Yesteryear” at the NC State Fair for the past 20 years. She also shared and taught her multiple hand craft talents at the Chatham Senior Citizens Center. Amina also shared her craftsmanship by volunteering and participating as a member of the Parish of St. Julia Catholic Church in Siler City. She was also know for her green thumb since she was always surrounded by plants, and was a member of the Pittsboro Garden Club. During her 20 years in Cairo, Amina collected over 300 different types of cacti.

Mrs. Abdelkader was the widow of the late Eng. Abdel Rahman Abdelkader. She is survived by her children, Amira, Adiba, and Amin, all of San Antonio, TX and six grandchildren, Jackie, Adham, Lena, Rania, Jamel and Caleb.

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered by Fr. Jim Fukes at 10 o’clock Wednesday morning, August 1, 2012 from St. Julia Catholic Church. Interment followed at Lee Memory Gardens in Sanford. Following the interment, guests were invited to visit with the family and share a meal at St. Julia Catholic Church.

Arrangements for Mrs. Abdelkader are under the care of Hall – Wynne funeral service & Cremation of Pittsboro.

NESBITT DIXON
Mr. Thomas Nesbitt Dixon, 91, of Pittsboro died July 18, 2012 in his home following a period of declining health.

A Chatham County native, Mr. Dixon was born October 1, 1920 to Rufus and Nonie Smith Dixon. He was a graduate of Pittsboro High School. Mr. Dixon served in the US Navy during World War II. When his military service was ended, he began working as an automobile mechanic for Justice Motor Company. Later, he was self-employed as an automobile mechanic. Mr. Dixon was a member of Pittsboro Baptist Church.

Survivors include his daughters and son-in-law, Glenda Dixon of Pittsboro, Vivian and Benny Overton of Oxford; a sister, Ellen Clark of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Nathan and Justin Crow; great-granddaughter, Ava Crow.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lillian Hilliard Dixon; and siblings, Lottie Gilmore, Dewey Dixon and Willabelle Hutchins.

The service to celebrate the life of Mr. Nesbitt Dixon was held at two o’clock Saturday afternoon, July 21, 2012 at Pittsboro Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Tripp Harmon presiding. Interment, with military honors, followed in the church cemetery. Friends visited with the family at the Dixon residence.

Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be directed to the Pittsboro Baptist Church General Fund, 121 West Salisbury Street, Pittsboro, NC 27312.

Arrangements for Mr. Dixon were under the care of Hall – Wynne funeral service & Cremation of Pittsboro.

DORIS JONES GASQUE
Doris Jones Gasque, age 86, of Lumberton, formerly of Chatham County, NC died Thursday, July 19, 2012 at her home. She was born in Chatham County, NC on July 13, 1926 to the late Herbert Jones and the late Irene Wilson Jones. She previously worked as a hospital lab technician.

She was preceded in death by her former husbands, Cecil Fesmire and Walter V. Lemmond.

Mrs. Gasque is survived by her husband, Boyd Gasque of the home; son, Michael Fesmire and wife Carol of Ramseur; step-son, Boyd B. Gasque, Jr. M.D. and wife Becky of Lumberton; sister, Peggy Jones of Siler City, NC; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held at Loves Creek Baptist Church in Siler City on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Joe Bounds officiating.

Visitation was held Saturday, July 21, 2012 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. in Lumberton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

JIMMY THOMAS WILSON
Greensboro - Mr. Jimmy Thomas Wilson, 66, passed away at Wesley Long Memorial Hospital on Saturday, July 21, 2012 with his family by his side.

A memorial service was held Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at 11 a.m. at George Brothers funeral service with Reverend Ricky Wilkie officiating.

Jimmy served his country in the U.S. Army as an 82nd Airborne Paratrooper. In later years, he enjoyed spending his time fishing and playing bingo.

Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents, Dock and Dorothy Horne.

He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Linda Wilson; daughter, Tina Graves (Chris) of Siler City; daughter, Tonia Crocker (Peter) of Snow Camp; son, Wayne Brewer (Angie) of Greensboro; son, Tim Brewer of Greensboro; grandchildren, Cory Wilson, Jordan Stone, Robert Brewer, Derek Brewer, Dalton Brewer, Darien Brewer, Elise Crocker; great-grandson, Landen Wilson; brother, Billy Wilson of Siler City; sister, Barbara Dellinger (Michael) of Broadway; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members.

The family received friends on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Following the service, everyone was invited to the home of Angie and Wayne Brewer, 700 Kitty Lane, Greensboro, NC 27406.

JULICE GLENN WRIGHT
Julice Glenn Wright, 80, of Liberty passed away on Sunday, July 22, 2012 at Moses Cone Hospital.

A funeral service was held on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Smithwood United Church of Christ. Burial followed in Lee Memory Gardens in Sanford. The family received friends on Tuesday from 6 until 8 p.m. at Loflin Funeral Home of Liberty, 212 West Swannanoa Avenue, Liberty, NC 27298.

He was the son of the late Luther and Etta White Wright and was also preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Williams Wright; sister, Velna Mae Buckner and brothers, Sterling, Evander, Garland, Horton, Zebie, Gordon and LeRoy Wright.

Surviving is his wife of 19 years, Ruby Greeson Wright of the home; son, Rocky Lynn Wright of Sanford; step-daughter, Sharon Bolton (Eddie) of Liberty; step-son, David Aldridge (René) of Pleasant Garden; step-grandchildren, Joshua Bolton (Jen), Trevor Bolton, Abby Aldridge, Lukas Aldridge and great-granddaughter, Chasidy Bolton.
