Mrs. Shirley Frances Reaves Lawson, 58, of Lawsonville died Sunday, (01-29-2006) at her home.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, (01-31-2006) at Peters Creek Baptist Church with interment following in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Lawson was a native of Caswell County, a homemaker and member of Minnie’s Chapel Wesleyan Church.

Survivors include her husband, Phillip Edward Lawson of the home; daughter, Angela Lineberry of King; step-daughters, Laurie Tuttle of Lawsonville, Jennifer Lawson of Westfield; four step-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Brown of Pittsboro, Jodie Cragun, Bartlesville, OK, Belinda Lawson of Westfield.

Memorials or donations may be made to Hospice of Stokes County, PO Box 10, Danbury, NC 27016.

NAOMI A. WILLIAMS

Mrs. Naomi A. Williams, 78, of Pittsboro died Sunday, (03-19-2006) at her residence.

Funeral services were held at 12 noon on Wednesday, (03-23-2006) at St. Andrews Christian Church, with Rev. Wilbert McDougald officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Williams was born in Chatham County, employed with Mathson’s Clinic, Horton School Cafeteria, Keller’s Rest Home and Pittsboro Christian Village. At St. Andrews Christian Church, she was a deaconess, a member of CECS and Starlight Choir.

Survivors include sons, Van Womble of Durham, Richard Womble of Chapel Hill; daughter, Jane Womble of Pittsboro; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren.

PETER JERRY WASKO

Mr. Peter Jerry Wasko, 58, of Pittsboro died Wednesday, (03-22-2006) at his residence.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, (03-28-2006) at Pittsboro Presbyterian Church. Interment followed in the Pittsboro United Methodist Church cemetery.

Mr. Wasko was a native of Wake County, and owner /operator of Wasko Wholesale Produce.

Survivors include his mother, Edith Wasko of Pittsboro; sons, Carl Wasko of Charlotte, Jay Wasko of Pittsboro: one granddaughter; sister, Joan Horney of Pittsboro.

Memorials may be made to either Pittsboro Presbyterian Church, PO Box 713, Pittsboro, NC 27312; or to the Chatham County Council on Aging.

MARY MANESS SPIVEY

Mary Maness Spivey, 75, of Siler City died Sunday, (03-26-2006) at Kindred Hospital in Greensboro.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, (03-28-2006) at Chatham Memorial Park with Pearl Castleberry officiating.

Mrs. Spivey was a native of Moore County and a homemaker. She was a member of Sanford Freewill Holiness Church in Sanford.

Survivors include her husband, Daniel Lee Spivey; son, John D. Spivey; daughter, Marry Ellen Spivey, all of Siler City; brothers, Colon Maness of Robbins, Floyd Maness of Bear Creek; sisters, Virtie M. Mele of Mt. Olive, and Lilly M. Jeager of Suffolk, Va.

VERNON W. SPENCER

Vernon Wade Spencer, 62, of Ramseur, died Friday, (03-24-2006) at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Smithfield.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, (03-27-2006) at Randolph Memorial Park, with Dr. Charles Fleshman, officiating.

Mr. Spencer was a native of Randolph County, owner and operator of Vernon’s New and Used Furniture.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Tucker Spencer, of the home; daughter, Betty Spencer Milligan of Ramseur; son, Darrell Spencer of Ramseur; mother, Essie Cox Spencer of Ramseur; two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; brothers, Carl Spencer of Bear Creek, Richard Spencer of Siler city, Joseph Spencer of Ramseur; sisters, Doris Spencer of New London, Shirley Weaver and Galdys Morano, all of Ramseur.

BETTY ANN BEAL BROWN

Betty Ann Beal Brown, 68, of Siler city died Saturday, (03-25-2006) at Chatham Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, (03-27-2006) at Pleasant Grove Christian Church in Bennett with Rev. Mark Strickland and Rev. Edward Brown. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Brown was a native of Chatham County, attended Pleasant Grove Christian Church and was a homemaker.

Survivors include sons, Jerry Brown of Asheboro, Terry Brown of Franklinville, Don Brown of Siler City, Todd Brown of Bear Creek; daughters, Joan Cockman of Asheboro, Doan Clark of Siler City; ten grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sister, Ava Lee Spivey of Siler City.

Memorials may be directed to American Cancer Society, W. Chatham Relay for Life, c/o Betty Terry, 519 South Second Avenue, Siler City, NC 27344.

W.C. “Bill” PERRY

W. C. “Bill” Perry of Siler City died Saturday, (03-25-2006) at SunBridge Care Facilities.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, (03-28-2006) at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church with Rev. Lamont Hemminger, and Rev. Paul Edwards, officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Perry was a native of Chatham County and a farmer. He was a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church, head of the building fund, on the cemetery committee and a member of the adult Sunday school class.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty P. Price of Siler City; sons, William Earl Perry of Siler City, Charles M. Perry of Bear Creek; Pete Perry of Siler City; seven grandsons, and six great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be directed to Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund, 3631 Mt. Vernon-Hickory Mountain Road, Siler City, NC 27344.

LOWELL STANLEY “STAN” BLANCHARD

Lowell Stanley “Stan” Blanchard, 68, of Siler City, died Sunday, (03-26-2006) at his home.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, (03-29-2006) at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Don Daniels, officiating. Burial followed in Chatham Memorial Park.

Mr. Blanchard was a native of Norfolk, Va. and of the Baptist Faith. He was a Marine veteran and had worked for Sprint as an Engineer.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Watkins Blanchard of Siler City; sons, Steve Blanchard of Richmond, Va., Mark Blanchard of Wendell; daughter, Angela Newkirk of Siler City; brother, Robert Blanchard of New Hill; step-sons, David Baynes, Douglas Baynes, both of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; step-daughters, Deborah Lynne Reid of Amelia Island, Fla., Lisa Adkins of Winter Haven, Fla., Laurie Wells of Raleigh; and two granddaughters.

Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Alamance & Caswell Counties, PO Box 2122, Burlington, NC 27216.

MRS. ANN SCOTTON EDWARDS

Mrs. Ann Scotton Edwards, 56, of Siler City died Saturday, (03-25-2006) at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, (03-30-2006) at Rocky River Missionary Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Lucille Scotton Currie of the home; brothers, Mr. Jesse Scotton, Jr., Mr. Phil Scotton, both of Siler City; sisters, Mrs. Patricia Alston, Mrs. Secelia Slades, both of Burlington, Miss Betty Scotton of Siler City, and Rev. Cherry Marsh of Greensboro.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Rocky River Church. At other times, the family will be at 150 N. Richardson Road in Siler City.

C. HAROLD JONES

C. Harold Jones, 83, of Siler City died Monday, (03-27-2006) at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, (03-30-2006) at First Wesleyan Church, Siler City, with Rev. Kevin Stumbo officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mr. Jones was a native of Randolph County, a member of First Wesleyan Church, and was owner/operator of Modern Shoe Repair in Liberty.

Survivors include his wife, Maggie Linens Jones of the home; daughter, Linda J. Burke of Siler City; son, Harold Dean Jones of Lexington; brother, Bill Jones of Scottsdale, AL; sister, Doris J. Gilliland of Siler City; three grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation was scheduled for Wednesday, (03-29-2006) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home. At other times, the family was at the home of Linda Burke, 10037 NC Hwy 902, Siler City, N.C. 27344.

Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.

IVAN DEAN THOMPSON

Ivan Dean Thompson, 83, of Yakima, Washington went to be with his lord on Monday, March 13, 2006 at the family home.

Dean was born in Mt. Vernon Springs, on June 28, 1922 to Norman and Mary (Lowe) Thompson. He served in the United States Navy during World War II aboard the USS Maryland, where he worked as an electrician’s mate and obtained the rank of Chief Petty Officer. In the early morning hours of December 7, 1941, he was aboard the USS Maryland when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor.

On July 28, 1942, Dean married his life-long wife, Elma Thiel. He was a member of the Westside Baptist Church from its beginning. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a pioneer in television in the Yakima Valley. When he moved there, there was only one station available, so the risk was big coming into the television repair business. He owned and operated Thompson’s West Valley TV for over 40 years. Dean was an enthusiastic wild turkey hunter. He loved the outdoors and would often stop in Moxee to hunt chuckers.

Dean is survived by his beloved wife, Elma; sons, Dean (Doreen) Thompson, Jr. of Richland; Glenn (Allyson) Thompson of Yakima, Joel (Lori) Thompson of Vancouver; a daughter, Dorine (Jake) Nickerson of Gresham; grandchildren, Shane and Aaron Thompson of Yakima, Gregory Thompson of Long Beach, CA, Josh Thompson of Richland, Rachel Mack of Portland, Emily and J.D. Nickerson of Gresham, Daniel and Matthew Thompson of Vancouver; great-grandchildren, Taylor Thompson, Zhane Thompson, Riley Thompson, all of Yakima; sisters, Lucille Dixon of Siler City, Lois Marley of Rocky Mount, Betty Holloway of Chapel Hill; brother, Edwin L. Thompson and wife Evelyn of Siler City; and sister-in-law, Lucille Thompson, also of Siler City.

A private family graveside service with military honors was held at West Hills Memorial Park. Memorial services were held at 3 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2006 at West Side Baptist Church.

CLAUDE LOUIS SEALEY

Claude Louis Sealey, age 71, of 1405 Farrington Road, Apex died Friday, March 3, 2006 in the UNC Hospital due to an extended illness.

Mr. Sealey was a retired farmer and a general painter. He was well known for his barbecue chickens and peanut brittle cooking.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2006 in the Bell's Baptist Church, 1274 Farrington Road, Apex. Officiating were Rev. Rick Washington and Rev. Steve Moore. Burial followed in the Bell's Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife, Clara Holt Sealey of the home; two daughters, Wanda Sealey Kidd of Pittsboro, Scarlet Sealey Jewell and husband, Alan of Graham; three brothers, James Sealey and wife, Brenda of Clayton, Russell Sealey of Raleigh, John Sealey and wife Maude of Clayton; three sisters, Elsie Kirk of Clayton, Edna Capps and husband, Donald of Clayton, Rita Cook of Selma; three grandchildren, Lauren Rebecca Kidd, Michael Travis Kidd, Amber Michelle Jewel; and a step-grandchild, Candace Jewell Humphrey.

Memorials may be given to the Bell's Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

The family received friends Monday, March 6, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. at Apex Funeral Home, 550 West Williams Street (Hwy 55), Apex; and at other times, at the home, 1405 Farrington Road, Apex.

MARY CLYDE TRUELOVE WILKIE

Mary Clyde Truelove Wil-kie, 93, of 749 John Horton Rd., Apex, died March 15, 2006 due to an extended illness. Mrs. Wilkie was a native of Harnett County. She was a member of Bells Baptist Church where in the past was a Sunday School teacher for the youth. She was an assistant librarian with the Pittsboro Library and also worked with the Chatham County School System and retired at the age of 81. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernice Wilkie in 1976.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 18, 2006 in Bells' Baptist Church, 1274 Farrington Rd, Apex, conducted by Reverend Rick Washington. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She is survived by daughter, Patricia Wilkie Veal of Greensboro; son Gene A. Wilkie of Apex; brothers, Norwood Truelove and wife, Marie of Holly Springs, Joe Truelove and wife, Irene of Lexington,; sister, Marie Mason of Fuquay-Varina; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and three great-great- grandchildren. She is also preceded in death by brothers, Perry Truelove and Howard Truelove, and sister, Aileen Yarbrough.

Memorials may be given to Bells' Baptist Church (Fellowship Expansion), 1274 Farrington Rd. Apex, N.C. 27523.
