KEITH "RANDOLPH" WILLIAMS

Keith "Randolph" Williams, 65, of 2664 Siler City-Glendon Road, Siler City died Sunday, April 16, 2006 at his home.

A private memorial is being held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 19, 2006 at the family residence, with friends and family. Rev. Brian Sandifer and Rev. Greg W. Burriss will officiate.

Mr. Williams was a native of Brunswick County. He was supervisor with the Gold Kist Poultry Company and was a Navy veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Joan W. Williams of Siler City; daughters, Monica Street of Siler City, Cheryl Buckner of Denver; brothers, Cecil Williams of Charleston, S.C., John A. Williams of Mebane, Dearl Williams of Bakersville, Jearl Williams of Easley, S.C.; sister, Annie Mae W. Lay of Long, S.C.; and two grandsons, Quinn Street and Kyle Street.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society Chatham Unit, PO Box 41912, Raleigh, NC 27629-1912, or to Liberty Hospice, 401 East Third Street, Siler City, NC 27344.

WALTER WAGNER RABB

Walter Wagner Rabb, 91, former UNC Baseball coach, died April 4, 2006 at Carolina Meadows Health Center in Chapel Hill. He was born in Lenoir, NC, June 26, 1914 to Carroll Edgar Rabb and Bird Katherine Moore Rabb. He was married for 54 years to the late Amy Warren, a native of Snow Hill, NC.

Coach Rabb was a graduate of Lenoir High School, Mars Hill College, NC State, and received a Masters Degree in Physical Education from UNC Chapel Hill. Through-out his education he received much recognition for his performance as an athlete in several sports. He played semi professional and professional baseball for the New York Yankees organization. His career began at Cary High School where he coached all sports and taught history. At UNC, in addition to his 31 years as baseball coach and time as associate athletic director, he developed the campus wide intramural program which was especially important to him. During his time at UNC he received numerous awards and recognition. He is a member of the North Carolina Sports Hall of Fame and several other halls of fame.

Survivors include his beloved friend and companion Euva Meyer of Carolina Meadows; daughter Amy Rabb of Moncure, NC; son Walter W.Rabb, Jr. and wife Sallie, of Gastonia; grandsons, Walter W. Rabb III of Huntersville and Robert C. Rabb of Raleigh; brother Robert L. Rabb of Chapel Hill; sister-in-law, Kathleen Rabb of Logan, Utah; five nephews and nine nieces.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by brothers William Moore Rabb, Joseph Carroll Rabb, and James Dudley Rabb; sister Louise Crawford, and two nephews.

Services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 8, 2006 at the Chapel of the Cross Episcopal Church, 304 East Franklin Street, Chapel Hill.

Donations may be made in Coach Rabb’s memory to the UNC Athletic Department for the expansion of Boshamer Stadium, Child Care Net-works, Inc., PO Box 1531, Pittsboro, NC 27312 or the Inter-Faith Council for Social Services, 110 W. Main Street, Carrboro, NC 27510.

JAMES (JIM) ANDERSON MOBLEY

James (Jim) Anderson Mobley, 64, of Siler City died Thursday, (04-06-2006) at Wake Forest University Trauma Center in Winston-Salem.

Services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, (04-09-2006) at Siler City Presbyterian Church with Rev. Sue Flippin officiating. Burial followed in Moon’s Chapel Baptist Church cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers were Jim Flippin, Max Smith, Steve Davis, Phil Johnson, and Leo Brewer.

Mr. Mobley was a native of Ray County, Missouri and a retired engineer with Ford Motor Company. He was a member of Siler City Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Catherine Vestal Mobley of the home; daughter, Jacqueline Steczak of Kansas City, MO; and one granddaughter.

Memorials may be directed to the Siler City Presbyterian Church, 720 West Third Street, Siler City, NC 27344; or Wren Memorial Library, 500 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC 27344.

MASTER DOKOTA LEE WORCESTER

Master Dokota Lee Worcester, of Pittsboro, 3 month old infant son of Joel Minton and Jessica Denise Worcester died suddenly Thursday, (04-06-2006) at his home.

Graveside services were conducted by Pastor Chris Gambos at 1 p.m. Wednesday, (04-12-2006) at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Pittsboro.

PATTIE H. HAZELWOOD

Pattie Hopkins Hazelwood, 51, of Asheboro died Friday, (04-07-2006) at the Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

Funeral services were held 11 a.m. on Monday, (04-10-2006) at God Outreach Ministries with Rev. Tim Poindexter officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Hazelwood was a native of Elizabeth Town, employed with Universal Health Care in Ramseur and a member of God Outreach Ministries.

Survivors include her husband, Ben Hazelwood of the home; a daughter, Traci Hopkins McLaurin of Bear Creek; step-sons, Justin Hazelwood of Asheboro, Josh Hazelwood of Cedar Falls; step-daughter, Jenifer Hazelwood of Arizona; mother, Ressie D. Massey of Climax; brothers, James Massey of Climax, John C. Massey, Jr. of Wichita, Kansas; sister, Margaret Burgess of Pleasant Garden; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to: God Outreach Ministries, c/o Carolyn Younger, 391 Queen Way, Randleman, NC 27317; to aid the elderly at Universal Health Care, Ramseur, NC.

CLAUDE LOUIS SEALEY

Claude Louis Sealey, age 71, of 1405 Farrington Road, Apex died Friday, March 3, 2006 in the UNC Hospital due to an extended illness.

Mr. Sealey was a retired farmer and a general painter. He was well known for his barbecue chickens and peanut brittle cooking.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2006 in the Bell's Baptist Church, 1274 Farrington Road, Apex. Officiating were Rev. Rick Washington and Rev. Steve Moore. Burial followed in the Bell's Baptist Church Cemetery.

Survivors are his wife, Clara Holt Sealey of the home; two daughters, Wanda Sealey Kidd of Pittsboro, Scarlet Sealey Jewell and husband, Alan of Graham; three brothers, James Sealey and wife, Brenda of Clayton, Russell Sealey of Raleigh, John Sealey and wife Maude of Clayton; three sisters, Elsie Kirk of Clayton, Edna Capps and husband, Donald of Clayton, Rita Cook of Selma; three grandchildren, Lauren Rebecca Kidd, Michael Travis Kidd, Amber Michelle Jewel; and a step-grandchild, Candace Jewell Humphrey.

Memorials may be given to the Bell's Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.

The family received friends Monday, March 6, 2006 from 6-8 p.m. at Apex Funeral Home, 550 West Williams Street (Hwy 55), Apex; and at other times, at the home, 1405 Farrington Road, Apex.

RUBY LEE BOLEN

Ruby Lee Bolen, 86, of 34014 Kirk Road, Albemarle died Friday, March 17, 2006 at Stanly Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., Monday, March 20, 2006 at Badin United Methodist Church with Rev. Curtis Goforth and Rev. Judith Drye officiating. Burial followed in Fairview Memorial Park Mausoleum in Albemarle.

Mrs. Bolen was born June 29, 1919, a native of Stanly County, a homemaker and a life-long member of Badin United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Order of White Shrine, the Home Demonstration Club in Kirk Community, choir member, president of UMW, a Sunday school teacher and Sunday school superintendent. She loved to travel.

Survivors include a son, Michael M. Bolen, Sr. of Albemarle; daughters, Audrey Bolen Newton of Albemarle, Susan Bolen Ritchie of Badin, Rev. Judith Bolen Drye of Goldston; sisters, Mary Solomon, Martha Stirewalt, both of Albemarle; grandchildren, Frank Russell, Debbie Fisher, Jerry Russell, Michael Bolen, Jr. Matthew Bolen, Tresa Tucker, Christa Morgan, Brian Drye, Eric Ritchie, Cheri Hathcock and 16 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Monroe M. Bolen in 1984, her father, Thomas Edward Stirewalt and mother, Maggie Burgess Stirewalt.

Memorials may be made to Badin United Methodist Church, PO Box 746, Badin, NC 28009.

MRS. ANN SCOTTON EDWARDS

Mrs. Ann Scotton Edwards, 56, of Siler City died Saturday, (03-25-2006) at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, (03-30-2006) at Rocky River Missionary Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her mother, Mrs. Lucille Scotton Currie of the home; brothers, Mr. Jesse Scotton, Jr., Mr. Phil Scotton, both of Siler City; sisters, Mrs. Patricia Alston, Mrs. Secelia Slades, both of Burlington, Miss Betty Scotton of Siler City, and Rev. Cherry Marsh of Greensboro.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Rocky River Church. At other times, the family will be at 150 N. Richardson Road in Siler City.

BOBBY RAYMOND JORDAN

Bobby Raymond Jordan, 70 of Sanford, died Thursday, (03-23-2006) at his residence.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, (03-26-2006) at Antioch Baptist Church in Goldston, with Rev. Mike Bass officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Jordan was a native of Lee County. He served 22 years in the U.S. Army and retired as a local area recruiter.

Survivors include one son, Charles D. Jordan of Sanford; daughters, Hannelore Gray of Ten Mile, Tenn., Karla Jackson of Cameron; brothers, Walter Jordan of Fayetteville, Gene Jordan of Raleigh, Bill Jordan of Asheville; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Community Home Care & Hospice of Lee County, 110 Fields Drive, Suite B, , Sanford, N.C. 27330.

CHRISTOPHER LYNN ELKINS

Christopher Lynn Elkins, 26 of Pittsboro died Thursday, (03-23-2006) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, (03-25-2006) at Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Lamont Hemminger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Elkins was a native of Chatham County, a member of Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church, and was employed with Van R. Finch Land Surveyors.

Survivors include a son, Tristin Elkins of Silk Hope; father and stepmother, Lynn and Sharon Elkins of Pittsboro; mother, Pamela E. Bowman of Ramseur; step-father, Grady Keith Bowman of Liberty; brother, Darryle Brent Elkins of Silk Hope; sisters, Jamie Smith of Silk Hope, Brandy Alderman of Siler City, Haley Bowman, Kelly Bowman, both of Ramseur; paternal grandparents, Worth and Rachel Elkins of Pittsboro; and maternal grandparents, Melvin and Barbara Bowman of Siler City.

MR. OTIS McKOY, JR.

Mr. Otis McKoy, Jr., 63, of Moncure, died Sunday, (03-26-2006) in Moore County.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Saturday, (04-01-2006) at Knotts Funeral Home Chapel in Pittsboro with Rev. Charles Chalmers, officiating.

Mr. McKoy was born in Cumberland County, where he attended public schools. He lived in New York for several years where he was owner of McKoy Construction.

Survivors include his wife, Janice T. McKoy; daughter, Frances R. McKoy of Bronx, N.Y.; stepson, Mark Tyson of Pittsboro; two grandchildren, one great-grandchild; sisters, Rutha M. Holmes of Fayetteville, Ella R. Brown of Texas City, Tx.; and a brother, Felton McKoy of Fayetteville.

CLAYTON EARL SPRINGER

Clayton Earl Springer, 56, of Bangor, Maine, died Saturday, (03-04-2006) at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.

Memorial service will be held at a later date.

Mr. Springer, formerly of Siler City, worked as a house painter.

Survivors include his son, Robert Springer of Siler City; daughter, Lori Lee Springer Collins of Massachusetts; and a sister, Bonnie Springer Strout, of Houston, Texas.

MILTON L. RAMSEY

Mr. Milton L. Ramsey, 89, of Pittsboro died Sunday, (03-19-2006) at his residence.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Thursday, (03-23-2006), at Mt. Sinai AME Church, with Rev. Phillip Lynch officiating. Burial followed in Pittsboro Cemetery.

Mr. Ramsey was a native of Chatham County and a member of Mt. Sinai AME Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn Ramsey Milton; son, Milton Monteray Ramsey of Pittsboro; six grandchildren, one great-grandchild.
