Allie Burke Johnson, 97, of Siler City died Saturday, (03-04-2006) at SunBridge Care Facilities.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, (03-07-2006), at Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church with Rev. Lamont Hemminger and Keith Johnson. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson was a native of Chatham County and a homemaker. She was a member of Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church.
Survivors include daughters, Linda J. Welch, Alma J. Lineberry, Ruth J. Smith, Toni J. Coore, all of Siler City, Magaline J. Allred of Asheboro, Shirley J. Thompson of Yorba Linda, Ca., Judy J. Luther of Ramseur; sons, J. E. “Buck” Johnson, Johnnie Johnson, both of Siler City, Keith Johnson of Snow Camp, Archie Junior Johnson of Asheboro; sisters, Edna B. Kidd of Siler City, Bronna B. Phillips of High Falls; brother, William Burke of Raleigh; 26 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.

DELBERT FRANKLIN HOWARD
Delbert Franklin Howard, 75, of Wake Forest died Friday, (03-03-2006) at Hillside Nursing Home.
Services were held at 3 p.m. Monday, (03-06-2006) in the Apex Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in the Bell’s Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Howard was a retired tobacco farmer.
Survivors include sisters, Polly Moore of Dunn, Fran H. Whitman of Wendell, Charlotte Miller of Louisburg; brothers, Purvis D. Howard of Wake Forest, and Alfred L. Howard of Cary.
IDA MILDRED POE
Ida Mildred Poe, 83, of Fuquay-Varina died Thursday (03-02-2006) at Wake Medical Center in Cary.
Services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, (03-05-2006) at Christian Chapel Christian Church with Rev. Emerson Woodall officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Poe was a native of Wake County, and a member of Christian Chapel Christian Church, and the Rainbow Club.
Survivors include daughters, Carolyn T. Humphrey, Marie Walker, both of Burlington, Ava Fisher of Kannapolis; sons, Elbert C. Turner of Raleigh, Wesley R. Turner of Graham; sister, Frances A. Tutton of Stafford, Va.; ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
JENNIFER MARIE HEARNE
Miss Jennifer Marie Hearne, 19, of Pittsboro died Monday, (02-27-2006) at Cape Fear Hospital in Wilmington.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Friday, (03-03-2006) at Rock Springs Baptist Church with Pastor Shane Arnold officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Miss Hearne was a native of Durham County, a 2005 graduate of Northwood High School and a student at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington. She attended Rock Springs Baptist Church.
Survivors include parents, Dee and Kathy Hearne; sister, Stephanie Hearne of Greenville; paternal grandparents, Lee and Aretta Hearne.

ELIZABETH CARR FRANKLIN LADD
Mrs. Elizabeth Carr Franklin Ladd, 90, of Pittsboro died Sunday, (02-26-2006) at the Laurels of Chatham.
Services were conducted at 5 p.m., Thursday (03-02-2006), with Rev. John Simons and Karen Ladd officiating, at St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church. Graveside rites will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, (03-03-2006) at Evergreen Burial Park in Roanoke, Va.
Mrs. Ladd was a native of Roanoke, Va., a homemaker, member of the DAR and the Daughters of the Confederacy. She was a member of St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church in Pittsboro.
Survivors include daughters, Victoria Ann Lane of Roanoke, Katherine Ladd, Karen Ladd, both of Pittsboro; four grandchildren; and sister, Jane Lindgren of Lexington, Ky.

CHARLES EDWIN CLAPP, SR.
Charles Edwin Clapp, Sr., 77, of 1578 Ed Clapp Road, Siler City died Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at SunBridge Care Facilities in Siler City.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 3, 2006 at Rocky River Baptist Church with Rev. Greg W. Burriss and Rev. Gene Booker officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Clapp was a native of Chatham County and retired manager, and co-owner of Clapp Brothers Tractor and Implement. He was a member of Rocky River Baptist Church where he was chairman of the cemetery committee, deacon, assistant teacher of the Men’s Bible class, member of the adult choir, former treasurer and Sunday School superintendent. Ed was a former member of the Silk Hope Ruritan, member of the Cattleman’s Club, Agriculture Business, former director of Central Carolina College and president of Farmer’s Alliance Store. He was a graduate of Siler City High School and attended N.C. State University.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Brooks Hedrick Clapp of Siler City; sons, Charles Edwin Clapp, Jr. and wife, Danette of Siler City, Dr. Timothy Clapp and wife, Sharon of New Hill, Al Clapp and wife Laura of Siler City; brother, Dr. James Clapp and wife, Janet of Durham; sister, Nancy Clapp Oldham and husband Byron of Siler City; grandchildren, Shannon Clapp Martinez, Mark Clapp, Melissa Clapp, Ivey Clapp, Carson Clapp and Caroline Clapp.

VIRGINIA ELIZABETH JONES DREYER
Virginia Elizabeth Jones Dreyer, 88, of Pittsboro died March 1, 2006 at Care View Rest Home in Snow Camp. Virginia was born September 10, 1917 in Ann Arbor, MI, the daughter of Paul and Viola Passow Jones. She enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening and yard-work. Virgini a also liked to sew, and loved her pets. She was also very active as a square dancer. Virginia was a member of First English Lutheran Church in Tiffin, Ohio.
Virginia is survived by her husband, Dean Dreyer; her son, Duane and his wife Martha, of Durham; her daughters, Joyce Baughman of Pittsboro, Carol Kendall and her husband Ralph of High Point, and Deborah Hinton and her husband Pete of Pittsboro; a half-sister, June Thompkins of South Carolina; four grandchildren, Jon Baughman, Ben Kendall, Lori Franklin, and Scott Dreyer; and a great-grandchild, Eric Franklin.
A private graveside service for Mrs. Dreyer was held on Saturday, March 4, 2006.
The family asks that in lieu of flowers, memorials be sent to either: UNC Hospice, PO Box 1077, Pittsboro, NC 27312; or to Oak Grove Animal Sanctuary, PO Box 1287, Carrboro, NC 27510.

GRACE EDWARDS LINDLEY
Grace Edwards Lindley, 93, 1326 Moon Lindley Road, Snow Camp died Friday, March 3, 2006 at Care View Rest Home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 6, 2006 at South Fork Friends Church with Winfred Crouse and Ray Lambe officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Richard L. Simmons, Andrew J. Simmons, Stephen L. Moon, Michael C. Teague, Joseph L. Teague, Robert B. Simmons, and James B. Harris.
Mrs. Lindley was a native of Chatham County, a homemaker and dairy farmer. She was a member of South Fork Friends Church and was preceded in death by her husband, James Gray Lindley.
Survivors include her son, James Randall Lindley of Raleigh; daughters, Doris L. Cox and husband Elvin C. of Ramseur, Hazel L. Moon and husband, Ronald L., Betty L. Teague and husband, Simon C., both of Snow Camp; sisters, Irene E. Thomas of Rockingham, Josie E. Walker of Burlington; sisters-in-law, Esther L. Wellons of Lynchburg, Va., Sarah L. Stoup of Lincolnton, Vera W. Edwards of Siler City; ten grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

EUNICE LANE WHITE
Eunice Lane White, 81, of Southport died Tuesday, (02-28-2006) at her residence.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, (03-03-2006) at Hope Cemetery in Bonlee, with Rev. Darrell Garner officiating.
Mrs. White was a native of Virginia, a homemaker, and a member of Providence United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death, by her husband, Gordon B. White, and her son, William T. White.
Survivors include a son, Randy White of Siler City; daughters, Betty Petty of Siler City, Judy Kivett of Staley; sister, Gertha Joyce of Siler City; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
GEORGE CLIFFORD HINSHAW
George Clifford Hinshaw, 80, of Siler City died Friday, (02-17-2006) at Wesley Long Community Hospital in Greensboro.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday, (02-19-2006) at Rocky River Friends Meeting with David Hobson officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Hinshaw was a native of Chatham County, and a retired truck driver for Carolina Steel. He was a member of Rocky River Friends Meeting where he was in the Fellowship Sunday school class, served on the cemetery committee, ministry and council, served as a trustee and youth leader.
Survivors include his wife, Nannie Mae Keller Hinshaw of the home; son, Clifford Hinshaw of Siler City; daughter, Helen Hinshaw Pike of Staley; sister, “Bunk” Hinshaw of Siler City; brother, Zim Hinshaw of Asheboro; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

JAMES LESTER “JIM” TUTTLE, JR.
James Lester “Jim” Tuttle, Jr., 50, of Pittsboro died Monday, (02-27-2006) at his home.
Services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, (03-01-2006) at Griffin Funeral Home in Pittsboro.
Mr. Tuttle was a native of Guilford County, a graduate of Dudley High School and a member of Friendly Avenue Baptist Church. He had worked at general manager of Laser Age Company.
Survivors include his wife, Robin Hart Tuttle of the home; parents, Jack and Anne Tuttle of Greensboro; daughters, Jaime Lauren Tuttle of Greensboro, Jade Erin Tuttle of the home; and a sister, Robyn Lane of Little River, S.C.
GEORGE FRANCIS MULLEN, JR.
Mr. George Francis Mullen, Jr., 67, of Pittsboro died Wednesday, (02-22-2006) at Richmond Memorial Hospital in Rockingham.
Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, (02-25-2006) at the Church of the Holy Family in Chapel Hill with Fr. Timothy Kembrough officiating. Interment followed in the church memorial garden.
Mr. Mullen, a native of Lincolnton was a graduate of Harding High School and UNC in Charlotte. He was the owner of The Respiratory Group, a medical equipment supplier, and he moved to Pittsboro in 2002, where he was a member of the Church of the Holy Family in Chapel Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Juanita D. Mullen; mother, Clairee S. Mullen of Charlotte; sons, George Martin “Marty” Mullen of Chapel Hill, Kevin Dale Skogan of Lookout Mountain, TN.; step-son, Andrew Dalzell of Stanley; daughters, Dottie Mullen Porter of Williamsburg, VA, Nancy Bell of Charlotte, Sandra Jackson of Oklahoma City, OK.; brothers, Brent Mullen Jim Mullen, Dean Mullen, all of Charlotte; sixteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
