THOMAS WILSON TYL
Thomas Wilson Tyl, 55, of 1455 Arthur Teague Road, Siler City died Monday, July 11, 2011 at his residence.
Tom, born April 24, 1956 in Montpelier, Vermont, the son of Leonard and Cecile (Sequin) Tyl and was an internationally known metallurgist and manufacturing consulting engineer who traveled the world. He held degrees from North Carolina State University, Carnegie Mellon and University of Pittsburgh. Tom was very involved in the community and lived a full and adventurous life.
Tom is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Rochelle “Shelley” (Wolkowski) Tyl; one daughter, Jenifer Wolkowski of Raleigh, NC; and one son, Jeffrey Tyl and wife, Lesley of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Braydon William and Holt Thomas Tyl; his parents; one brother; three sisters; and his beloved dog “Max.”
A private family gathering will be held at a later date.

T. FRED GAINES
T. Fred Gaines, 88, of Siler City, formerly of South Second Avenue Extension died Sunday, July 17, 2011 at Chatham Hospital, Inc.
Mr. Gaines was born December 7, 1922 the son of John T. and Mattie (Hancock) Gaines. He was a native of Chatham County, an Army veteran of WW II and attended Loves Creek Baptist Church. Fred was a sawmill operator, hauling shavings and the former owner of the Bonlee service station. He enjoyed playing Rook and watching the New York Yankees play. He also enjoyed visiting area cemeteries and was known for his wit and smile. Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Stone Gaines; his parents; sister, Mary Lee Powers; brothers, Johnny, Oren and Bill Gaines.
He is survived by one daughter, Frankie Gaines Day and husband, John, Jr. of Siler City; two sons, Jimmy Gaines and wife Betty of Coleridge, Randy Gaines of Siler City; four sisters, Louise G. McLaughlin and husband, Buddie, Betty G. Stone and husband, Dennis, Frankie G. Bridges, Ella G. Brower and husband, Jim, all of Siler City; one brother, Alton Gaines of Siler City; grandchildren, Darrin Gaines, Lisa Cox, Mark Day, Jennifer Day Jourdan; great-grandchildren, Christy and Wesley Cox, Garrett, Hannah, Kyle Jourdan and Lauren Day; special sisters-in-law, Dottie S. Gaines, Lucy Gaines; and a special niece, Jane Petty.
The family received friends Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, and other times at the home of Frankie Day, 44 Oakmont Lane, Siler City. The funeral was held Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Brookdale Baptist Church, 1133 West Third Street, Siler City with Rev. Christopher St. Jean and John Day, Jr. officiating. Burial followed in Loves Creek Baptist Cemetery with Military rites by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

JACK EDWARD WELCH
Jack Edward Welch, 76, of Bear Creek died Wednesday, (07-06-2011) at Chatham Hospital in Siler City.
The funeral was held Saturday, (07-09-2011) at 11 a.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Greg Burriss officiating. Burial followed in Chatham Memorial Park.
Mr. Welch was born August 14, 1934, the son of William B. and Mamie Brown Welch. He was a native of Chatham County, a member of West End United Methodist Church and a self-employed caterer. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Survivors include daughters, Cherie W. Carroll of Bear Creek, Patricia Brady of Siler City; four grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
LaVERNE MACON REDDING
LaVerne Macon Redding, 66, of Parker, CO, died Thursday, (07-07-2011) at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, (07-13-2011) at Holly Spring Friends Meeting in Ramseur, with Rev. Todd Brown officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Redding was a native of Randolph County, formerly employed as a children’s clothing designer and cake decorator. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frantz and Edith Smith Macon and sister, Glenda Moffitt.
Survivors include sons, Bryan Redding of Winter Park, CO, Ian Redding of Siler City; sisters, Georgia Spruill, of Virginia Beach, Charlotte Kivett, of Franklinville, Sandra McGee of Ramseur; and four grandchildren.

SCOTT THOMAS TEAGUE
Scott Thomas Teague, 58, of Richmond, died Friday, (07-08-2011).
He was preceded in death by his father, Zack S. Teague.
He is survived by his son, Zack; his mother, Gene Teague; sisters, Beth Winall, Geneie Beavers, Kaye Hyman, and Meg Teague.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, July 14, 2011, at Loves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 1745 E. 11th Street, Siler City, N.C.

ADALYNN RAEGAN DUNN
Adalynn Raegan Dunn, infant daughter of Jason and Amy Dunn of Snow Camp died Sunday, (07-10-2011) at Alamance Regional Hospital in Burlington.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, (07-12-2011) at 11 a.m. at Community Baptist Church, with Keith Johnson officiating.
She is survived by her parents; a sister, Jaiden Dunn of the home; grandparents, Debra Johnson and Phillip Brooks of Siler City and Foy and Keith Johnson of Snow Camp.
MARY FRANCES MILLIKEN
Mary Frances Milliken, 57, of Siler City died Friday (07-08-2011) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday (07-12-2011) at the `First Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Barry R. Gray officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
A native of Chatham County, she was a former employee of Allen Hatchery and a member of the First Missionary Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Michael Milliken; daughter, Jackie M. Milliken of Pittsboro; mother, Margaret B. Moffitt of Siler City; sisters, Wanda Wright of Liberty, Deborah Stewart of Greensboro, Carol Parker of Asheboro, Jackie Person and Tammy Moffitt, both of Siler City; brother, Raeford Moffitt of Siler City; and one grandchild.
MARGIE YATES McGHEE
Margie Yates McGhee, 90, formerly of Graham, died Thursday (06-30-2011) at Careview Rest Home in Snow Camp.
Survivors include her daughter, Wanda Kimball; son, Ronald McGhee; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, L.D. McGhee, parents, Tom and Lillie Yates and a granddaughter.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday at McClure Funeral Home in Graham. Funeral services will begin at 2 in the McClure Chapel. Burial will follow in Graham Memorial Park.

BRENDA JOYCE CAIN
Brenda Joyce Cain, 55, of 4091 Airport Road, Bear Creek died Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Duke University Medical Center, Durham.
Brenda was born March 24, 1956, the daughter of Clifton "Cubie" Eugene and Ruby (Dixon) Joyce. She was a native of Chatham County, a 1974 graduate of Chatham Central High School, a member of Brush Creek Baptist Church where she was a member of the Middle Couples Sunday School Class. Brenda was the owner of Wet-O-Wash. She always had a smile for everyone she met. She loved animals and enjoyed spending time with her boys, sitting on the back porch or by the pool, and listening to music. Brenda was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Darrell E. Joyce.
Survivors include her husband, Eddie Wesley Cain III of the home; one son, Wes Cain of Siler City; one sister, Patricia J. Smith and husband, Gary of Lake Norman; one brother, Kenneth R. Joyce and wife, Kara of Bear Creek; nieces, Wendy Stout of Huntersville, Taylor and Madison Benz of Canton, GA; nephews, Cliff, Carson and Shane Joyce of Bear Creek; John Michael Benz of Canton GA; mother-in-law, Mary Cain of Liberty; sister-in-law, Sheila Benz and husband, Mike of Canton, GA.
The family received friends at the family home and Friday, July 8, 2011 following the service at the church. The funeral was held Friday, July 8, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Brush Creek Baptist Church, 5345 Airport Road, Bear Creek with Rev. Dr. Al Martin and Rev. Dwight Jenkins officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

ANNA LUCILLE CONOVER
Anna Lucille Conover, 63, passed away, with her loving family by her side, Wednesday July 6, 2011.
A graveside service honoring Anna was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, at the Oak Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Anna was born October 2, 1947, the daughter of wonderful parents, the late Jesse Norman and Nancy Cheek Conover. Her working career spanned employment in commercial printing sales to owning her own business, Greensboro Graphics. She was a member of the Guilford Battle Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. She was also a member of the Liberty Garden Club.
Surviving is her significant other, Don Britt; her sons, Michael Deal and wife Traci Amick Deal of Julian, North Carolina, Richard Deal of Siler City, and her beloved grandchildren, Lane and Hallie Deal. She is also survived by her sisters, Judith Conover and her significant other Vestal Palmer, Oak Ridge, and Jessica Conover Schollaert and husband Gie Schollaert, also of Oak Ridge and five nieces and nephews.
Remember Anna as a fun, vivacious, loving companion, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt to a blessed family. She loved life, her garden, her animals, dancing, traveling, fishing and the beach. We will miss her amazing smile and joy filled ways.

MAGGIE ECCLES PREVOST
Maggie Eccles Prevost, 94, of Bear Creek, formerly of New Orleans, passed away at 12:15 a.m. Sunday morning, July 3, 2011 while in the care of Hospice in Lillington.
She is survived by her daughter, Wanda Ann Prevost; her son, Bertrand (Bert) Paul Prevost; her sisters, Susan Jane Eccles and Cindy Michel; her grandsons, Paul Randolph Prevost, his daughters, Angel, Brittney, Cheyenne, Savannah; Clinton Prevost and his wife, Angela Darlene Prevost; her great-grandchildren, Logan Jolly, Logan Pierre Prevost, Talon Bane Prevost. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Nathan Joshua Prevost, but is survived by his daughter, Danielle Nichole Prevost.
WILLIAM RANDALL HOBBS, JR.
William Randall "Randy" Hobbs, Jr., 59, of 26 Olympic Lane, Siler City died Saturday, July 9, 2011 at E. Carlton Powell Hospice Center in Lillington.
Mr. Hobbs was born November 22, 1951, the son of William R. and Fredda (Ratledge) Hobbs. He was born in Guilford County, a graduate of Western Guilford High School and UNC-Chapel Hill, an active member of the First Baptist Church of Siler City and attended the First United Methodist Church. Randy was also active in many ways in the community. He was employed as a magistrate for Chatham County for 30 years, owner of Siler City Self-Storage and a North Carolina Wildlife officer. Randy was preceded in death by his father.
Survivors include his wife of 35 years, Diana (Key) Hobbs; two sons, Tyler R. Hobbs of Siler City, William R. Hobbs of San Diego, CA; mother, Fredda (Ratledge) Hobbs of Pittsboro; and one sister, Rori Powell of New Hill.
The funeral was held Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 1101 West Raleigh Street, Siler City with Rev. Clyde Denny officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery.
