Mrs. Linda Cheryl Parris
SERVICE DETAILS: When: April 10, 2005 2:00 PM
Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday April 10, 2005 at Asbury United Methodist Church. Family being served by Forbis & Dick North Elm Chapel.

Linda Cheryl Parris, 49, of Greensboro died January 20, 2005, the result of an automobile accident.

A memorial service will be held April 10, 2005 at 2:00 PM at Asbury United Methodist Church. The Reverend Patrick Hamrick, pastor of Asbury and Reverend Neal Brower, pastor of St. John’s United Methodist Church will officiate.

Linda was born September 20, 1955 in Charlotte, NC. The daughter of Richard and Geri Parris. The family moved to Greensboro when Linda was three years old.

She attended Smith High School and GTCC. She worked with the Headstart program before going to Amoco where she worked for the next 13 years.

She is survived by her son Jordan Christopher Bull of High Point. Her parents Richard and Geri Parris of 1031 South Aycock St., Greensboro. Brother, Wayne Parris and his wife Patti of Greensboro. Sister, Barbara Parris of the home. Niece, Sarah Parris of Chapel Hill and nephew, Josh Parris of Greensboro.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.

Forbis & Dick North Elm Chapel is assisting the family.

Mr. Herman Andrew Tuttle
SERVICE DETAILS: When: April 16, 2005 2:00 PM
Memorial Service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday April 16, 2005 at Chapel of First Baptist Church. Family being served by Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel.

Herman Andrew Tuttle died at Friends Homes Guilford on April 7, 2005. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of First Baptist Church, 1000 West Friendly Avenue, Greensboro, on April 16, at 2:00 p.m. Friends may greet the family in the Chapel after the service.

Mr. Tuttle was born January 29, 1905 at King, in Stokes County. He graduated from Liberty Piedmont Institute in Wallburg, NC, where his family had moved when his father purchased the local store and post office. After graduation from Mars Hill College he was a parts manager at various automobile dealers, until he opened his own parts dealership in Greensboro, H.A. Tuttle Motor Co., which he operated from 1943 to 1968. A long-time member of First Baptist Church, Greensboro, he was an ordained deacon, a Sunday School teacher and was Scoutmaster of Troop 5 for 10 years. He had been a member of the Greensboro Lions Club.

He celebrated his 100th birthday on January 29, 2005 with his family at Friends Home. His wife for 68 years, Elise Wilkinson Tuttle, died on December 24, 1999. He is survived by his son, Walter Alan Tuttle and his wife Beverly of Wake Forest, NC; his daughter Nancy Lane Tuttle of Durham, NC; two granddaughters Maria May Conway and her husband Stephen of Washington, DC and Susan Elizabeth May of Brooklyn, NY; four grandsons Walter Alan Tuttle, Jr. of Raleigh, NC, Andrew Ethan Tuttle and his wife Jane of Colorado Springs, Co., Robert Hunter Tuttle of Durham, NC, and Paul Eduard Tuttle of Winston-Salem, NC, and ten great-grandchildren.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Melissa Wilkinson Education Fund at First Baptist Church, Greensboro, which Mr. Tuttle and his wife Elise Wilkinson Tuttle founded in 1948 in memory of her mother; or to the Wake Forest University Medical School (Bowman Gray), in Winston-Salem, to which he donated his body for anatomical education.

The family is being served by Forbis & Dick funeral service, Guilford Chapel, 5926 W. Friendly Ave., Greensboro.

Mrs. Ruth Kent Petker
SERVICE DETAILS: When: April 2, 2005 1:00 PM
Graveside Service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday April 2, 2005 in Guilford Memorial Park. Family being served by Forbis & Dick North Elm Chapel.

MRS. RUTH KENT PETKER, 82 of Greensboro, died March 30, 2005 at Moses Cone Hospital. The daughter of the late Reese B. Kent Sr. and Oma Riley Kent, Mrs. Petker was born February 16, 1923.

Ruth graduated from Greensboro High and attended Women’s College of UNC. She served in the WAVES during WWII. Ruth lived in New York City for over 20 years. After the death of her husband, Aaron Petker and upon retirement she moved back to Greensboro. Ruth was very active in the American Legion Post 53. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother: William Riley Kent, and one sister: Oma Kent Cowie.

She is survived by one brother, Reese B. Kent, Jr. of Greensboro, Three sisters: Joanne Kent Moore of High Point, Louise Kent James of St. Petersburg, Fla, Barbara Kent Fillippeli and husband Dave of Wilmington, five nieces and eight nephews.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 2, 2005 at 1:00 PM at Guilford Memorial Park with the Rev. Julie Peeples, of Congregational United Church of Christ officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Congregational United Church of Christ, 400 W. Radiance Dr. Greensboro, NC 27403 or Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro 2500 Summit Ave. Greensboro, NC 27405

Mrs. Roberta Cole Kirkman
SERVICE DETAILS: When: March 21, 2005 2:00 PM
funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Monday March 21, 2005 at Pleasant Garden United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Church Cemetery. Family being served by Forbis & Dick Pleasant Garden Chapel.

Mrs. Roberta Cole Kirkman, 73, died Thursday, March 17, 2005 at Moses Cone Hospital.

funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, March 21, at Pleasant Garden United Methodist Church where she was a member. The interment will be in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Kirkman was retired from Liberty Life Insurance Company formerly Southern Life.

She was preceded in death by her son Ronny Kirkman; sisters, Cleo Cockreese, Lucille Lindsay Lewis, Miss Bobby Gray Cole and brothers Henry Ellis Cole, Garland Cole and Curtis Cole.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, G.C. Kirkman, Jr. of the home; son, Greg Kirkman, also of the home and girlfriend Debbie Henderson; sisters, Betty Cole Brown and husband Raleigh (Al) Brown, of Greensboro and Pauline Cole Allred, of Burlington.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, tonight at Forbis & Dick in Pleasant Garden.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1207 W. Friendly Ave, Greensboro, NC 27403.

Mrs. Mabel Ruth Hackett Holder

funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday March 21, 2005 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Climax. Interment will follow in Church Cemetery. Family being served by Forbis & Dick Pleasant Garden Chapel.

Mrs. Mabel Ruth Hackett Holder, "Aunt Mabel", passed away peacefully after a brief illness, on Friday, March 18, 2005. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Rev. Ralph Eanes will officiate.

Mabel was born in Guilford County on May 21, 1910 and enjoyed 94 wonderful years with her friends and family. She was a loving Christian woman who was a lifetime member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church. Every generation of the Pleasant Garden community was touched by Mabel. She never met a stranger and made friends for life. She was loved by many and will be missed by everyone whose life she entered. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Kate Hackett; husband, Arthur Holder; son, Jay Van Holder; grandson, Dennis Holder; brother, Jack Hackett; sisters, Mildred Hackett Beeson, Madge Hackett Dunham and Ruby Hackett Marley.

Mrs. Holder is survived by her devoted son, John Holder and wife Ann; grandchildren, Jamey (Carolyne), Lisa and Robyn; great granddaughter, Brooke; sisters, Edna Hackett Otwell, Mary Hackett Mabe, Bobbie Hackett McClintock (Foy); brother, Joe Hackett, all of the Pleasant Garden community; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the caring staff at Britthaven of Guilford and Wesley Long Hospital for their compassion during her stay.

Visitation for Mrs. Holder will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at Forbis & Dick Funeral Home in Pleasant Garden.

Mr. Clifford P. Quinn

funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Monday March 21, 2005 at St. Paul Apostle Catholic Church. Family being served by Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel.

Mr. Clifford P. Quinn, 81, of Greensboro died Friday March 18, 2005 at Beverly Healthcare-Starmount.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church.

Mr. Quinn was born in Jersey City, NJ in 1923. He graduated from Seaton Hall University; he also served with the Army Air Corps during WWII. He had a long and distinguished career of 38 years with Western Electric/AT&T/Lucent Technologies. He also enjoyed a part-time Real Estate career; served as a volunteer to the Guilford County Court System and a consultant for the SBA/SCORE. Cliff really enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and he loved to travel!

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Norma; daughters Sharon Lazar of Belle Meade, NJ, Maureen Quinn of Mayfield Heights, Oh, Laurie Quinn of Holmdel, NJ; sons Wayne Quinn of Greensboro, Kerry Quinn of Boca Raton, Fl and the extended family of in-laws, 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Forbis & Dick Guilford Chapel.

A special thank you to Beverly Heathcare-Starmount for the excellent care provided to Cliff.

Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Dark Smith

funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday March 19, 2005 at Bessemer United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Lakeview Memorial Park. Family being served by Forbis & Dick North Elm Chapel.

Gibsonville - Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Dark Smith age 96, of Colony Road Died Wednesday March 16th at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital. A 1:00 P.M. funeral service will be held Saturday March 19th at Bessemer United Methodist Church with Rev. Boyd Holliday officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.

Mrs. Smith was born December 12th 1909 in Chatham County to the late Walter West Dark and Mattie Huntington Dark. She was a member of Bessemer United Methodist Church and a retired bookkeeper from Greensboro Awning. She was preceded in death by her husband Samuel Ray Smith and two sons Keith Dare Smith and Roger Bryon Smith. Mrs. Smith is survived by one son Donald R. Smith of Gibsonville, one sister Lucille Johnson of Siler City, two brothers Bryant Dark of Burlington, and Wren Dark of Siler City, five grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

The family request that Memorials by made to Bessemer United Methodist Church, 3015 East Bessemer Avenue Greensboro, N.C. 27405.

The family will receive friends Friday March 18th from 7:00-9:00 P.M. at the Forbis & Dick North Elm Street Chapel.

Mr. Keith Bernard Schneider
SERVICE DETAILS: When: March 22, 2005 2:00 PM
funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday March 22, 2005 at Jessup Grove Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Church Cemetery. Family being served by Forbis & Dick North Elm Chapel.

Mr. Keith Bernard Schneider 47, of 290 Anderson Trail died Thursday, March 17, 2005 at Beacon Place of Hospice in Greensboro.

Mr. Schneider’s funeral will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, March 22, 2005 in Jessup Grove Baptist Church with Reverend Dan Alderman and Dr. Wilson Stewart officiating.

Keith had been in declining health for several months which had forced him to retire from O’Henry Incorporated where he was a supervisor for several years. He was a member of Jessup Grove Baptist Church and a volunteer fireman with the Bethany Fire Department.

Keith is survived by his wife of 15 years, Bobbie Jo Anderson Schneider; a son Keith Bernard Schneider, Jr. age 13 and daughter Tabitha Danielle Schneider age 10 all of the home; his mother Verina Ryan, three brothers Butch Schneider, Mike Schneider, and Kevin Schneider all of New Jersey; sisters Kathy Griffin of South Carolina, Debbie Powers and Denise Hussainsiraj both of New Jersey.

Keith was preceded in death by his father Bernard Schneider.

The family will receive friends from 7 – 8:30 PM on Monday evening March 21, 2005 at Forbis and Dick North Elm Street and other times at the residence.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to either Hospice of Rockingham County, 2150 Highway 65, Wentworth, NC 27320 or to Jessup Grove Baptist Church Building Fund, 4530 Jessup Grove Road, Greensboro, NC 27410.

Mr. William L. "Bill" Riddle
SERVICE DETAILS: When: March 19, 2005 2:00 PM
funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday March 19, 2005 at Immanuel Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Westminster Gardens. Family being served by Forbis & Dick Pleasant Garden Chapel.

Mr. William "Bill" Louis Riddle, 78, died Thursday, March 17, 2005 at Wesley Long Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday at Immanuel Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Westminster Gardens. Reverend Larry Thompson will officiate. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be the Troy Robbins Sunday School Class.

Mr. Riddle was born in Coats, NC on August 2, 1926, son of the late Ervin and Nora Tilley Riddle. He was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during WWII. He retired as regional manager with Western & Southern Life and Casualty Insurance Co. Mr. Riddle was a mason and a member of Immanuel Baptist Church. His brothers, Clyde R. Riddle and Bruce E. Riddle and sister, Joyce Riddle Martin preceded him in death.

Surviving Mr. Riddle are his wife, Vivian M. Riddle, of the home; son, Dr. William Mark Riddle and wife Stephanie of Pleasant Garden; daughters, Penny Roark of Valdese, NC., Holly MacDonald and husband Kenneth of Raeford, NC.; grandchildren, Dr. Jeremy Roark of Greensboro, Bryan Roark of Winston Salem, Jennifer Roark of Chapel Hill, Leah Riddle of Buis Creek, Adrienne Riddle of Pleasant Garden, Jacqueline Riddle of Greenville, NC., Benjamin MacDonald of Asheville, NC., Leighanne MacDonald of Raeford,NC., Cameron McClean, Adam McClean and Brady McClean, all of Pleasant Garden; brothers, Cecil Riddle and wife Dorothy of Charlotte, Stacy Riddle and wife Barbara of Durham, Tom Riddle and wife Julia, Va. Beach, Va.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Forbis & Dick Funeral Home in Pleasant Garden.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church, Building and Grounds Fund, 2432 High Point Rd., Greensboro, NC 27403.

Mr. Richard Allan Wood

Greensboro – Richard Allan Wood, 60, of 6343 Mallard View Dr. Charlotte, NC died March 15, 2005 at his home.

Mr. Wood was born in Lincoln Nebraska; he was a veteran of the United States Army and a Vietnam War. He is preceded in death by his father Maxie Wood.

Mr. Wood is survived by his three Children; two daughters; Laura Wood of Archdale, Dianna Wood of Orlando, FL; one son Erik Wood of Brandon FL; his Mother Imogene Morland Wood of High Point; one brother David Wood of Winfield, IL; two sisters; Patricia Flach of Aurora, CO and Cynthia Wood of Longmont, CO.

The Family will receive friends after the memorial service at Forbis & Dick Funeral Home, 1118 N. Elm St.
