LOUISE AVERY COOK STEWART
Mrs. Louise Avery Cook Stewart, 92, of Sanford, died Tuesday, (06-17-2014), at First Health Hospice House in Pinehurst.

Funeral services were held Friday, (06-20-2014), at 3 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Blair Little and Rev. Roberta Byram officiating. Burial followed at Lee Memory Gardens.

Mrs. Stewart was born June 20, 1921, in Harnett County, to the late Dewey T. Avery and Sally Gaster Avery. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Benjamin Cook and Floyd R. Stewart.

Survivors include a daughter, Judy Moody of Lincolnton; sons, Larry Cook of Southern Pines, Jimmy Cook of Sanford; step-sons, Nicky Stewart, David Stewart, both of Coats; step-daughter, Vickie Johnson of Coats; sisters, Ann Barefoot of Four Oaks, Janice Autry of Keller, Texas; five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.

GLENN MARSHALL POOLE
Glenn Marshall Poole, 77, of Sanford, died Thursday, (06-19-2014).

Services were held Saturday, (06-21-2014) at 11 a.m. at Shallow Well U.C.C. with Rev. Donald Thompson officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Poole was born June 16, 1937, in Lee County, to the late William Thelbert Poole and Mary Dowdy Poole. He was a member of Shallow Well United Church of Christ, where he served as Cemetery Agent. He served his country in the US Navy, and retired from Bellsouth Telephone Company.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Spivey Poole; sons, Marshall Poole of Jonesboro, AR, Curtis Poole of Benson; stepsons, Wesley Finch of Asheboro, Malcolm Moore of Benson; daughter, Mary Ellen McLaughlin of Huntsville, AL; stepdaughter, Karen Ricker ofCary; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Glenn had requested that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Building Fund at Shallow Well Church, 1220 Broadway Road, Sanford, NC 27332.

CHARLES HUGH ANGEL, JR.
Charles Hugh Angel, Jr, , 76, of Sanford, died Friday, (06-20-2014), at his home.

A graveside service was held Sunday, (06-22-2014) at 2 p.m. at Broadway Town Cemetery with Rev. John Hackney presiding.

Mr. Angel was born on May 15, 1938, in Lee County, to the late Charlie Hugh Angel and Louise Osborne Angel. He served his country in the US Army. He retired as a stock room foreman for CP&L. He was preceded in death by a brother Johnny Angel.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Sue Hunter Angel of the home; son, Randall Charles Angel of Wake Forest; brother, Frank Angel of Carthage; sister, Judy Rosser of Carthage; and one grandchild.

JERRY LOUIS GRIMES
Jerry Louis Grimes, 86, of Siler City died Sunday, June 22, 2014 at his residence.

Mr. Grimes was born in Harnett County on May 20, 1928, the son of Thomas H. and Glenna (Johnson) Grimes. Jerry was a member of the First Baptist Church of Siler City, the Siler City Masonic Lodge # 403 A.F. & A.M. He attended Wake Forest University and was the owner/operator of Grimes Jewelry Store from 1948 until 1963. He served in the Siler City Fire Department from 1948 until 1963, serving as secretary, training officer, assistant chief and served as Chief from 1961 until 1963. He had served from 1967 until 1973 as the Fire Marshall for Wayne County. Jerry worked for the North Carolina Department of Insurance-Fire and Rescue Division as Director of Governmental Services from 1973 until retirement in 1989. During those years, he assisted over 600 rural fire departments to become recognized by the Insurance Industry for a fire insurance rate reduction. He traveled to and assisted Fire Departments in all 100 Counties of North Carolina. Jerry was a graduate of “Municipal and County Administration”, Institute of Government at UNC - Chapel Hill, taught a class on “County Fire Protection” at the Institute of Government at UNC to local government officials for fifteen years. In 1981 he was selected as “Fireman of the Year” by the North Carolina State Firemen’s Association. Working along with others, Jerry developed a mobile water supply system that gained the first acceptance by the Insurance Rate Bureau in North Carolina. This system is now used nationwide and brings a reduction in insurance in areas that do not have fire hydrants. Jerry was a member of the Chatham County Wildlife Club and a former board member of the Siler City Airport Authority. He was an Eagle Scout and a former scoutmaster. Jerry was an outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Curtis Grimes; his parents and brother, Francis H. Grimes.

He is survived by his wife, Jane (Dennis) Grimes; daughter, Deborah L. Grimes of Siler City; sons, Gregory T. and wife Debbie T. Grimes of Siler City, Dennis and wife Jaki W. Norris of Richmond, VA; grandchildren, Jerry Thomas Grimes and wife Ginger, Brandy G. Woody and husband Donnie, Bobby Lee Frazier, Joey Norris, Kirby Norris and Carrie Norris; great-grandchildren, Anna Woody, Jackson Woody, Elliott Woody, Kennedy Grimes and Sadie Norris.

The family received friends Tuesday, June 24, 2014 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. The funeral was held Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 314 N. 2nd Avenue, Siler City with Rev. Tony Capehart and Jay Howell officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery, Siler City.

RANDY ANTHONY WICKER

A much loved father, son, brother, uncle and friend to many, Randy Anthony Wicker, 54, born June 19, 1960, of Siler City, North Carolina went to be with the Lord on June 23, 2014.

Raised in Goldston, N.C., he had many accomplishments. He mastered the art of Tae Kwon Do, graduated from Chatham Central High School, and joined the family business as a truck driver for Wicker Trucking. He was known for his passion for playing the guitar and his warm hugs. He had a heart of gold and a smile that was contagious. He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.

Randy was preceded in death by his father, William (Bill) Jennings Wicker, Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Whitney Wicker Duggins; mother, Sarah Stovall Wicker Daugherty; step-father Fred Daugherty; brother, Jeffrey Allen Wicker; sister, Crystal Wicker Harman; brother-in-law, Bill Harman; nephews Luke Moody and Zack Harman; nieces Logan Harman and Ashley and Meagan Wicker, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 26, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Carbonton, NC. Pastor David Thomas and Pastor Tim McKenzie will officiate. Interment will follow at Loves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was held Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home.

WANDA SUE BRITT PATTERSON
Wanda Sue Britt Patterson, 61, of Snow Camp, died Thursday, June 24, 2014 at Randolph Hospital.

Wanda was born in Laurinburg, NCon May 16, 1953, the daughter of Joseph Warren and Alice Blades Britt. She had been employed as a supervisor at Collins & Aikman. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Joseph Warren Britt, Jr.; and brother-in-law, Maynard Eugene Mabe.

She is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Patterson (Adam Evans); twin sisters, Joyce Ann Britt Davis (James) and Judy Ann Britt Mabe; brothers, Thomas Keith Britt, Aaron Ray Britt (Jerry Lambert), Curtis Lee Britt (Salena); grandchildren, Brandon Adam Evans, Brittany Cheyanne Evans Slynn, Brennan Nicole Evans Armstrong, Asher Bryce Evans Armstrong and Brayden Jayse Evans Patterson.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 27, 2014 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC 27344. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2014 in the Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel.

SAMUEL GRAHAM MOORE
Mr. Samuel Graham Moore, 66, of Coats passed away Wednesday (06-11-2014) at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.

Graveside services were held at 3 p.m. Friday (06-13-2014) at Coats City Cemetery, with Lay Person Rebecca O’Dell officiating.

Mr. Moore was born February 15, 1948 in Chatham County to the late James I. and Emma Burke Moore. He worked in the textile industry.

Survivors include his daughter, Samantha Bowden of Coats; son, Timmy Moore of Coats; sisters, Linda Forster of Siler City, Sandra Linton of Goldsboro; brothers, Lane Moore of Florida, Barry Moore of Siler City; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

JOYCE EILEEN BAKER CARR
Joyce Eileen Baker Carr, 75, of Sanford, died Wednesday, (06-11-2014), at her residence.

A celebration of life was held Saturday, (06-14-2014) at 11 a.m., at Kendale Acres FWB Church, with Reverends Billy Keith, Doug Western and Tom Lilly officiating. Burial followed at Buffalo Cemetery

A native of Dayton, Ohio, she was born July 31, 1938, to the late Frank Baker and Margaret Dennis Baker. She was a graduate of Fairborn High School. She was preceded in death by brothers, Ralph, Ronald, Larry and Jerry Baker.

Survivors include her husband, Clifford Carr of 56 years; daughter, Lisa Stephens of Sanford; sisters, Marjorie Tomlinson of Fairborn, OH, Brenda Bailey of Madison, AL, Carol Baker; and two grandchildren.

Memorials can be made to Kendale Acres FWB Building Fund, 3407 Cemetery Road, Sanford, NCor Community Hospice of Sanford, NC.

TOMMY FOREST FORE
Mr. Tommy Forest Fore, 74, of Sanford, died Thursday, (06-12-2014), at his home.

A graveside service was held Saturday, (06-14-2014), at 10 a.m. at Lemon Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Anthony T. Foley officiating.

Mr. Fore was born December 7, 1939, to the late John Shelly Fore and Ethel Kellam Fore. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, John Fore. He was a retired carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Jean Barker Fore of the home; sons, Tommy Forest Fore, Jr. of Broadway, Marty Ray Fore of Sanford; daughter, Swannie Lawrence-Jewell of Sanford; brother, William “Willie” Fore of Sanford; sister, Bessie Gilmore of Sanford; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

JoANN RATTZ RIDDLE
Mrs. JoAnn Rattz Riddle, 73, of Sanford, died Saturday, (06-14-2014) at her home.

A graveside service will be held Monday, (06-16-2014), at 11 a.m. at Lee Memory Gardens with Chaplain Joel Cameron officiating.

Mrs. Riddle was born in Lee County, on September 4, 1940, to the late Grady M. Rattz and Lillie Bell Bobbitt Rattz. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Horace G. Riddle, brother, Sherwood (Woody) Rattz.

Survivors include son, Ray Riddle of Sanford; daughter, Diane Riddle Joyner of Sanford; brother, Earl Rattz of Sanford; and sister, Nancy Rattz of Asheboro; and one grandson.
