HELEN KYLE HOLT

Helen Kyle Holt, 80, of Siler City, died Wednesday, (12-29-2010) at Sanford Health & Rehabilitation.

funeral service was held Saturday, (01-01-2011) at 1 p.m. at Piney Grove United Methodist Church with Rev. Herbert Lowry and Rev. Travis Owen officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Holt was born February 17, 1930, the daughter of William Brinkley and Minnie (Sullivan) Kyle. She was born in Nashville, TN and was employed at A J Schneierson and Sons. She was a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church where she was a member of the Adult Bible Class, the Women's Society, and the Senior Citizens Trail Blazers. She volunteered as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army.

She is survived by daughters: Holly H. Stewart of Sanford, Helen H. Hamer of Supply; brother, Jack Kyle of Molina, GA; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 2343 Piney Grove Church Road, Siler City, NC 27344.

MARY FRANCES PICKETT
Mary Frances Pickett, 88, of Oak Island, formerly of Siler City, died Tuesday (10-08-2013), at Ocean Trail Convalescent Center, Southport.

Funeral services were held Saturday, (10-12-2013) at 1 p.m. at the First Wesleyan Church. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Pickett, was born in Chatham County on July 17, 1925, the daughter of Donnie and Paul Blair. She was a member of the First Wesleyan Church of Siler City, where she was a member of the missionary society, served on the church board, taught Vacation Bible School, and helped with the CYCs. She retired from AJ Schneierson. Frances was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Albert Pickett, and a sister, Inez Blair.

Survivors include a daughter Paula Peele of Oak Island; sisters, Ruby Synder of Siler City, Zadie Myers of Greensboro; and two grandchildren.

RUBY HALL ROLLINS
Mrs. Ruby Hall Rollins, 96, of Sanford, died Tuesday, (10-08-2013) at Westfield Rehabilitation and Health Center.

funeral service was held Friday, (10-11-2013) at 1 p.m. at East Sanford Baptist Church with Rev. Robbie Gibson and Rev. Robert Yandle officiating. Burial followed at Shallow Well Cemetery.

Mrs. Rollins was born June 30, 1917, in Moore County, to her late parents, C. G. Hall and Eunice Hudson Hall. She was also preceded in death by her husband Thomas Lewis Rollins and brothers Fred and Evin Hall. She was a member of East Sanford Baptist Church where. she taught children Sunday school for 54 years. She worked at Avent and Thomas until the age of 91.

Surviving is a daughter, Cathy Rollins Davis of Greensboro.

Memorials may be made to East Sanford Baptist Church Building Fund, 300 North Avenue, Sanford, NC 27330, Liberty Home Care and Hospice, 1005 Carthage Street, Sanford, NC 27330 or the charity of one’s choice.

PATRICIA DIANE DURHAM
Patricia Diane Durham, 66, of Sanford, died Wednesday, (06-25-2014) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Funeral services were held Monday, (06-30-2014), at 11 a.m. at Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church with Dr. Calvin Sayles and Rev. Brett Durham officiating. Burial followed at Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was born on August 10, 1947, to the late Jesse Everette Durham and Arlene Kline Durham. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by brothers, Richard Durham and Robert Durham. Patricia was a retired supply clerk for the United States Government and was a member of Jonesboro Heights Baptist Church.

Surviving is a son, David Glenn Johnson of Sanford; daughter, Beverly Diane Johnson of Sanford; brothers, Rev. Ronald Durham of Georgia, James Durham of Idaho; and six grandchildren.

KEVIN DALE BROWN
Kevin Dale Brown, 25, of Bennett, died Thursday, (06-26-2014).

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, (06-30-2014), at Pleasant Grove Christian Church with Rev. Mark Strickland and Rev. Tim Strider officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Kevin was a native of Randolph County and employed with Brown’s Well Drilling Company. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Oza Z. Humphrey, and Lexie and Josie Hayes Brown.

Survivors include his wife, Tenesa Kivett Brown of the home; parents, Farrell and Myra Humphrey Brown of Asheboro; brother, Dustin Brown of Asheboro; and grandmother, Ola Humphrey of Ramseur.

Memorials may be made to Happy Hills Animal Foundation, Inc, 3143 Happy Hills Drive, Staley, NC 27355.

JACKIE GREEN
Jackie Green, 72, died Friday, June 27, 2014 while at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC.

He was born in New York, July 19, 1941 to Marie Farrell and James Green. Jackie was a lifelong preacher and truck driver. He was married to Mary Catherine Burke for 55 years. They had three children and four grandchildren. He was a loving husband, a wonderful father, and adored spending time with his grandkids at dance recitals and ballgames. Jackie was known for passing out gold coins to special people and to those in need.

In addition to his wife, Jackie is survived by his sons, Keith Green of Pittsboro, Ken Green and his wife Sandy of Pittsboro; his daughter, Denise Badders and her husband Allen of Pittsboro; and his grandchildren, Stacey Badders, Timothy Badders and his wife Karen, Robby Badders and Kenley Green.

The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, June 30, 2014 at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home in Pittsboro. A funeral service was held 2 p.m., Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at Bynum Baptist Church with the Rev. Tim Qualls officiating. Burial followed at Meroney UMC in Bear Creek, NCwith the Rev. Jim Whittaker offering the committal service.

The arrangements for Mr. Green were under the care of Hall – Wynne funeral service and Cremation of Pittsboro.

MARJORIE HELEN CROSS HONEYCUTT
Marjorie Helen Cross Honeycutt was received by her Lord on May 26, 2014 at the age of 87, surrounded by her loving husband and family, at her home in Spring, Texas.

She was born May 13, 1927 in New Hill, N.C.to Iula Dickens Cross and James E. Cross, living a full life that honored her Lord and Savior. During the early days, she, her brother and sisters were regular members of Buckhorn Methodist Church, singing in the choir and playing the piano during services at Corinth. Helen was the Salutatorian of her graduating class at Moncure High School and also sang “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. Helen loved to sing and play the piano. She enjoyed nature, competitive bowling, and tennis. Helen and her sisters entertained the troops at the Raleigh USO during WWII. She loved spending time with her family and had a way of making each individual feel special. She gave herself and her love unconditionally and was the ultimate peacemaker. Compassion, love and forgiveness were her mantra.

Helen is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, David (Gene) Honeycutt; children, David G. (Elizabeth) Honeycutt, Jr., Susan Honeycutt (Joseph) Allessi, Helen C. Honeycutt; sisters, Madge Cross Briton of Wisconsin; devoted grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces, Judy Palmer Overby and Nancy Gunter Walden of Sanford, Joan Palmer Frazier and Mary Gunter Perkins of Moncure, Theresa Cross Williams of Augusta, GA, and Linda Brinson Fox of WI; nephews, Ed Brinson of WI, Jerry W. Gunter of New Hill, Mike Cross of Moncure (Chatham County Commissioner) and many dear cousins.

Mrs. Honeycutt was preceded in death by her parents, brother, James E. Cross; sisters, Mary Cross Gunter and Hazel Cross Palmer; nephews, Donald Gunter and James E. Cross III, and niece, Georgia Palmer Moore.

A memorial service and inurnment will take place at Buckhorn United Church in Corinth, NC at a later date. Cremation was provided by Kirk Mortuary Service of Houston, TX.

STELLA SULLIVAN CAMPBELL
Stella Sullivan Campbell, 90, of Bear Creek died Monday, June 30, 2014 at her residence.

Mrs. Campbell was born in Chatham County on August 16, 1923, the daughter of Ernest C. and Mattie P. Phillips. She was a member of Fall Creek Baptist Church, a graduate of Bennett High School and Sandhills Community College. Stella worked at Klopman Mills of Ramseur for 30 years and then fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming a nurse. She worked at Moore Regional Hospital and retired from Chatham Hospital after 20 years of service. She enjoyed gardening, working in her yard, going to the beach and attending sporting events to watch her grandchildren and great-grandchildren play. Stella was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Donald Sullivan; sisters, Lessie Russell and Lillian Nall.

She is survived by three sons, Steve Sullivan (Nancy) of Bear Creek, Mickey Sullivan (Debbie) of Carthage, Johnny Sullivan of Coleridge; brother, Herman Phillips (Lois) of Bear Creek; grandchildren, Tony Walter, Gary Sullivan, Jr., Denise Sullivan, Jennifer Glosson, Stacie Perry, Tracie Patterson, Justin Sullivan and nine great-grandchildren.

The family received friends Tuesday, July 1, 2014 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City.

The funeral was held Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Fall Creek Baptist Church, 1745 Fall Creek Church Road, Bennett with Rev. Scott Allmon and Rev. Dr. Ron Chaney officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Christopher Sullivan, Forrest Glosson, Lane Perry, Clint Perry, Boomer Hussey and Jeremiah Hussey served as pallbearers.

The family request, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Community Home Care & Hospice, 108 Village Lake Road, Siler City, NC 27344; or Crystal Lynn Phillips Memorial Scholarship Fund, 9490 NC Hwy 42, Bear Creek, NC 27207.

JUNE MARIE DARK HUDDLESTON

June Marie Dark Huddleston, 86, passed away on Friday, June 27, 2014, at Coventry House in Siler City.

June was born November 22, 1927. She is survived by her husband, R. F. (Dick) Huddleston Jr., of 60 years; one son, Richard F. Huddleston III, and wife Juli of Dexter, MI; one granddaughter, Emily Huddleston of Dexter, MI; one grandson, Sam Huddleston, of Snowmass, CO. She is also survived by one sister-in-law, Sara Huddleston Burgess of Siler City, and numerous nieces and nephews.

June was preceded in death by her parents, A. B. and Nan Cooper Dark; sisters, Berta Albright and husband Clyde, Wilma Dark, Myrtle Fox and husband Will, Joy Ward and husband Ben, Dorothy MacDaniel and husband Marshal, Decie Frye and husband Will; brothers, Garland Dark and wife Margie, Guy Dark and wife Lela, A. Bert Dark Jr., and wife Christine.

June was a member of First United Methodist Church, Siler City, where she worked as secretary for thirty years. She served as secretary of the church’s Memorial Committee for fifty years. She and her husband were charter members of the Joyner Brewer Sunday School class.

The church honored June’s dedication in 1998 with a stained glass window in the Church’s Prayer Chapel. June loved her church and was well known by the church family for preparing delicious deserts and candy treats. Family and friends were important to June and she enjoyed sharing her Chocolate Pie and Honey Bun Cake with them.

The family received friends on Wednesday, July 2, 2014, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, and other times at the family home. Reverend Bob Wachs and Reverend Travis Owen honored June at a Memorial Service at Oakwood Cemetery, N. Chatham Avenue, Siler City, on Thursday, July 3, at 11 a.m.

Memorials may be made to Community Home Care and Hospice, 108 Village Lake Road, Siler City, NC, 27344; or to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, PO Box 212, Siler City, NC 27344.

JAMES SCOTT YOW, SR.
Mr. James Scott Yow, Sr., 68, of Sanford, died Monday, (06-16-2014).

The funeral was held Thursday, (06-19-2014), at 11 a.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jerry Parsons officiating. Burial followed at the Broadway Town Cemetery.

Mr. Yow was born April 10, 1946, in Lee County, to the late Jake Yow and Maxine Harrison Yow. He is the owner and former operator of Yow’s Grocery. He formerly worked for Coca-Cola Bottling Co., farmed with his parents, and was the Manager of Richmahr’s. Mr. Yow was a ten year cancer survivor.

Survivors include his wife of 32 years, Betty Soles Yow; sons, J. Scott Yow, Jr. of Cameron, Hugh Walters of Broadway; daughters, Michelle Yow Daurity of Sanford, Kim Yow Satterwhite of Stem; sisters, Maude Oakley of Cameron, Nancy Boggs of Broadway, Kathy Andrews of Bennett; and eight grandchildren,.

DONALD RAY BOWMAN, JR.
Mr. Donald Ray Bowman, Jr. of Sanford, died Wednesday, (06-18-2014, at Central Carolina Hospital.

The funeral was held Saturday, (06-21-2014), at 2 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Oldham officiating. Burial followed at Buffalo Cemetery.

Mr. Bowman was born in Lee County on April 8, 1974, to Donald Ray Bowman and Carolyn Elaine Baker Bowman. He was employed as a truck driver.

He is survived by his parents, Donald Ray and Carolyn Baker Bowman; sister, Kelly Bowman Stacy of Sanford.
