TIMOTHY LOYD WICKER
Timothy Lloyd Wicker, 53, of Lakeland, Florida, formerly of Siler City died Tuesday, (01-07-2014) in Lakeland).

The family will receive friends Saturday, (01-18-2014) from 5 to 7 p.m.

Mr. Wicker, born March 28, 1960 in Chatham County, was the son of the late Frank and Fannie Wicker. He was a truck driver.

Survivors include a son, Steven Wicker of Lakeland, Florida; brothers, Philip Wicker of Siler City and Mark Wicker of Myrtle Beach, S.C.

ROBERT “STEVE” STEVEN STINSON
Robert “Steve” Steven Stinson, 50, of Burlington passed away Friday (01-03-2014).

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Lowe Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family.

EVELYN CRANFORD
Evelyn Cranford of Sanford, died Saturday, (01-11-2013) at Duke Regional Hospital.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

Polly Sharpe of Sanford died Friday and arrangements are pending at this time.

NANCY MANN WILLIAMS
Nancy Mann Williams, 71, died Sunday (01-05-2014) at Wake Medical Hospital in Cary.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, (01-11-2014) at Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Williams was born January 8, 1942 in Martin County, daughter of the late James Mann and Ruth Grimes Mann. A graduate of Pittsboro High School, she worked at Pittsboro Insurance agency, and later in the deli of Lowe’s Food in Cole Park. In addition to her parents and her husband Merwyn Williams, she was preceded in death by a stepson, Wayne Merwyn Jackson; and a sister, Linda M. Lorbacher.

Surviving is a sister, Janie M. Shaw of Pittsboro.

Memorial contributions may be made in Nancy’s honor to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 724 Beaver Creek Road, Apex, NC 27502.

WILLIAM ROBERT LAMBERT
William Robert “Bobby” Lambert, 79, of Meadow Creek Road, Siler City died Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at Chatham Hospital, Siler City.

Mr. Lambert was born in Chatham County on July 29, 1934, the son of Oscar Lee and Luta (White) Lambert. He was a member of Rives Chapel Baptist Church, a 1953 graduate of Siler City High School and a charter member of the Chatham County Street Rod Association. Bobby was a retired auto mechanic for over 50 years. He had owned and operated Universal Auto for many of those years. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and had a passion for working on anything with a motor, including old cars, trucks and tractors. Bobby was preceded in death by a son, Kenneth Lambert; his parents and a brother, Joe Lambert.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Dolores (Jessup) Lambert; daughter, Amy Lambert Williams; son, Ronnie Lambert; grandchildren, Lindsay Williams, Will Lambert and Molli Lambert; and a great-grandson, Conner Martinez.

The family received friends Saturday, January 11, 2014 from 1:30-2:30 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. The funeral followed at 2:30 p.m. in Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tripp Foltz officiating. Burial was in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to Rives Chapel Baptist Church Building Fund, 4338 Rives Chapel Church Road, Siler City, NC 27344.

SAMUEL POLETTA
1959 – 2013

Samuel Poletta passed away on December 30, 2013 in Pittsboro, NC, surrounded by his family. Sam loved to travel the world and that is how he met and married his wife Doi from Thailand 25 years ago. He lived his life to the fullest and had many adventures that most of us could only dream about. He will be missed by many close friends, as well as family members.

Samuel is survived by his wife, Doi; his children, Sam, Noi, Nan, Nune and Joel; his parents, Sam and Dorothy Poletta; his brothers, Tom (Shirley) and Frank (Beverly); his sisters, MaryBeth (Steve) Barber and Vicky (Joe) Lima; his nieces and nephews, Jordan, Bria, Dominic and Daniel; his Aunt Anne (Abbamonte), Aunt Fran (Hearn), along with many loving cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held at a later date in Rochester, N.Y.

The arrangements for Mr. Poletta are under the care of Hall-Wynne funeral service and Cremation of Pittsboro.

BRENDA C. CLEEK
Brenda Dale Campbell Cleek, 58, of Liberty, went to be with Jesus on Thursday, January 9, 2014 after a very short illness. Brenda was born on March 25, 1955 in Lexington, VA, to the late Dorothy Kathleen Snow and the late, Floyd William Campbell.

Brenda, a real estate agent, was part of the family at Chatham Homes Realty of Pittsboro, NC. She graduated in 1974 from Parry McCluer High School in Buena Vista, Virginia. She was an avid gardener, fabulous cook and adored by her family and friends. She is survived and loved by her husband of twenty-four years, Bradley Carlyle Cleek.

In addition to her husband, her loving family includes her sister, Claudia Chittum (her late husband Michael) of Hampton, Virginia; brother, Michael Leonard Campbell and wife Becky of Powell, Wyoming; and sister, Cindy Staton and husband Butch of Buena Vista, Virginia. She is survived by two daughters, Leecy Kathleen Fink and husband Gary of Lynchburg, Virginia and their children, Madeline Shay, Cameron Paul, Jenna Kathleen, Eliza Gail, Amelia Michelle, and Christina Gail Wells and husband Jim of Columbus, Ohio and their children, Sidney Allen and Ethan Edward. In addition, she is survived by many nieces and nephews, her neighbors, Nancy and Craig and her best dog, Chuck..

A celebration of life service was held on Sunday, January 12, 2014 at 2 p.m. at the Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, 437 Sunset Avenue, Asheboro with Rev. Brian Gawf officiating. The family received friends following the service.

ANN S. ANDERSON
Ann S. (Stafford) Anderson, formerly ofLake Forest, IL, died on her 86th birthday at her home in Pittsboro (Fearrington), NC on December 6, 2013.

Ann was the devoted wife of the late Robert E. Anderson. She is survived by her children Kaya Goodwin (the late John), Kathryn Miller (Corbin), Margaret Cleavenger, and Robert (Sara), and by her grandchildren, Bradley and Wesley Anderson.

The countless hours that Ann contributed as a member of the Woman’s Board of Rush University Medical Center, and as a past president of the Chicago chapter of the English-Speaking Union, touched the lives of many. She was a passionate, dynamic woman who loved animals and she will be warmly remembered by all who knew her.

Memorial gifts may be directed to the Woman’s Board of Rush University Medical Center, 1725 West Harrison Street, Ste. 545, Chicago, IL60612.

A private service will be held at the Church of the Atonement.

HARRY WALKER SUGG
Harry Walker Sugg, 73, of Brown Street, Pittsboro, NC, died Friday, January 10, 2014.

A memorial service will be held at Pittsboro United Methodist Church, 71 West Street, Pittsboro, on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Ben Alexander officiating. A reception will immediately follow in the fellowship hall. A graveside committal ceremony will commence in Snow Hill, at the Sugg Family Cemetery at a later date.

Mr. Sugg was born in Kinston, Lenoir County, NC on June 23, 1940.

He was an active member of Pittsboro United Methodist Church for more than thirty years. He has had a successful career with the Becton Dickinson Research Center in Research Triangle Park, working as a chemist for more than forty years.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Harry Whittington Sugg and Thelma Florine Harrell Sugg; two half-brothers, Winfred and Toby Sugg.

He is survived by his wife, Dixie L. Sugg of the home; daughters, Esther Sugg Zolman and Timothy of Robbins, Jeanette Sugg Mitchum and Paul of Silk Hope, Jenny Sugg Cooper and Randy of Pittsboro; son, Andrew Sugg and Kate of Pittsboro; step-son, David Justin Hodgens of Alabama; grandchildren, Elizabeth Marie Johnson, Clayton Randall Cooper, Ross Anderson Cooper, Nathaniel Edward Mitchum, William Harrell Mitchum, Oliver Graham Mitchum; step-grandchildren, Michael Sainz, Leilani Hodgens, Kalena Hodgens and Joshua Hodgens. Harry is also survived by sisters, Merle Modlin and Chip of Fayetteville, Brenda Cregar and Dan of Greensboro, Joan Carr ofNew Albany, MS; brother, Timothy Sugg and Barbara of Snow Hill, as well as several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts for technology be made to: Pittsboro UMC, PO Box 716, Pittsboro, NC 27312.

The arrangements for Mr. Sugg’s service are under the care of Hall – Wynne funeral service and Cremation of Pittsboro.

BARBARA CLAUSS BROWN
Barbara Clauss Brown, 81, passed away peacefully Monday, January 13, 2014 at Siler City Center.

Formerly of Sanford, she is survived by her daughter, Shawn Poe and husband Darrell of Bear Creek; sons, Floyd Arnold Brown, Jr. of Chandler, AZ, Todd Brown of Sanford; sister, Carole C. Cauble and husband Robert of San Antonio, TX; brother, Raymond L. Clauss and wife, Faye of Floresville, TX; grandchildren, Jennifer Holder of Bear Creek, Christin Poe of Greensboro, Brittany Poe of Raleigh, Delaney Brown of Chandler, AZ, Brent Brown of Carthage; great-grandchildren, Shelby and Preston Holder of Bear Creek. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd A. (Brownie) Brown and sister, Dorothy C. Avery of San Antonio, TX.

A native of San Antonio, TX, Mrs. Brown was a teacher and later a realtor in Sanford.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate her life at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Sandy Branch Baptist Church, Bear Creek. Visitation with a meal will immediately follow the service in the church activity building and other times at the home of Darrell and Shawn Poe, 467 Sandy Branch Church Road, Bear Creek.

Memorials may be made to Sandy Branch Baptist Church Fuel Up Program (provides food for children in need), 715 Sandy Branch Church Road, Bear Creek, NC 27207.

ALICE CHRISTINE ROUTH BEAL
Alice Christine Routh Beal, 85, resident of Tara Plantation in Carthage passed away Friday, (12-27-2013) at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

A graveside memorial service was held Tuesday, (12-31-2013) at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Christian Church cemetery in Bennett with Rev. Tim Strider officiating.

Ms. Beal was a Chatham County native, and a retired nurse’s aide.

She is survived by her brother, Bernard “Frog” Routh of Bennett.

SHIRLEY NEEDHAM TYNER
Shirley Needham Tyner, 73, formerly of Carthage died Sunday (12-29-2013) at the home of her daughter in Bear Creek.

A funeral service was held at the home on Thursday (01-02-2014) at 11 a.m. A graveside committal was held at 2 p.m. at Pinebluff Cemetery.

A native of Moore County, she was a daughter of the late William Medley and Emma Irene Bennett Needham. A graduate of Carthage High School, she attended Sanford Business School, worked for Carthage Fabrics, the Moore County Tax Administration, and Arthur Rowe, Attorney at Law. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee Allen Tyner, Jr., brothers, Alton, Bill, Joseph and a sister, Edith.

She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Persons of Bear Creek; son, Robbie Tyner of Carthage; and one granddaughter.
