TODD FREEMAN BROWN
Todd Freeman Brown, 48, of Bear Creek died Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Chatham Hospital, Inc., Siler City.

Mr. Brown was born in Chatham County on July 6, 1965, the son of Fields Freeman and Betty Ann Beal Brown. He was member of White Cross Baptist Church, and worked with Goldkist-Pilgrims Pride as a maintenance supervisor for 28 years. Todd loved working on tractors, welding and drawing. He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jerry and Don Brown and a great-nephew, Parker Maultsby.

He is survived by his wife, Amy Beavers Brown; daughter, Amber Brown of the home; son, Fields Brown of the home; sisters, Joan B. Cockman and husband Mike of Franklinville, Doan B. Clark and husband Vernon of Siler City; brother, Terry Brown and wife Annette of Franklinville; seventeen nieces and nephews, four great-nieces and one great -nephew.

The family received friends Tuesday, October 8, 2013 from 7 until 9 p.m. at Smith and Buckner.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at White Cross Baptist Church, 7201 Old US 421 N., Staley with Rev. Edward Brown officiating. Burial was held in Meroney United Methodist Cemetery, Bear Creek.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, Mid-Atlantic Affiliate, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060; or to the American Cancer Society Chatham Unit, 8300HealthPark-Suite10, Raleigh, NC 27615.

MARY LEE ELLIS
Mary Lee Ellis, 86, of Goldston died Saturday, October 5, 2013 at Randolph Hospice House, Asheboro.

Mrs. Ellis was born June 10, 1927, the daughter of Murd and Lula Hart Klass. A native of Chatham County, Mary Lee worked at Chatham Hospital and later cared for children at her home. She was a member of Goldston United Methodist Church for 76 years. She loved to sew and her flowers. Mary Lee is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Ellis and grandson, Jason Clark.

She is survived by daughters, Joyce E. Clark and husband Melvin of Siler City, Verna Ellis of Goldston; son, Jimmy Ellis; grandchildren, Alan Clark and wife Phyllis, Larry Clark, Kevin Ellis, Krista Ritter and husband John, Michael J. Pister, Jr., great-grandchildren, Amy Clark, J. C. Ritter, Cody Ritter, Casey Duckworth, one great-great grandchild, Jace Duckworth; and her beloved pet Katie.

The family received friends Wednesday, October 9, 2013 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Goldston United Methodist Church, with the graveside service following in the Goldston Cemetery. Rev. David King and Rev. Thomas Simpson officiated.

The family was at the home of Verna Ellis in Goldston.

Smith & Buckner was in charge of the arrangements.

MARY ANN SEALS
Mrs. Mary Ann Seals, age 72, of Hillview returned to her Heavenly Father on October 6, 2013.

Mrs. Seals had worked as a mailroom clerk for Standard Publishing. Among those that preceded her in death include her parents, Willard and Martine McClure; brothers, Willard and Larry McClure; granddaughter, Crystal Conard; and stepson, Jeffrey Seals, Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband of 17 years, Jeffrey Seals; children, David Conard (Michelle), Kimberly Adkin, George Conard, Jr., (Charlotte) and Debra Sharp (Jerry); stepchildren, Andrew and David Seals; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Wright (Ottis), Shirley McClure, Linda Skaggs, Peggy Lee (Jerry); brothers, Roger (Linda), Fred and Richard (Mattie) McClure.

funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at Schoppenhorst, Underwood and Brooks Funeral Home (Preston Highwayat Brooks Road) with interment in Highland Memory Gardens.

Friends paid their respects on Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. at Schoppenhorst.

CLAUDETTE BROWN REEDER
Claudette Brown Reeder, 71, of Ramseur, died Wednesday, (09-25-2013) at Randolph Hospice House in Asheboro.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, (09-28-2013), at Concord United Methodist Church with Rev. Jeff Harmon, Rev. Bruce McLanahan, and Rev. David Schwartz officiating. Burial followed at Pleasant Grove Christian Church in Bennett.

Mrs. Reeder was a native of Randolph County, and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church. She was a lifelong piano teacher, having taught students in her home and at Coleridge and Bennett Elementary Schools, as well as Evans Music Center.

She is survived by a daughter, Catherine R. Little of Liberty; son, Johnny K. Reeder of Asheboro; and two grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph County, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204; or to the Christian Scholarship Assistance Fund, c/o Larry Brown, 4338 Little Beane Store Road, Ramseur, NC 27316.

VIRGINIA MAE POWERS HUSSEY
Ms. Virginia Mae Powers Hussey, 92, of Robbins, passed away Saturday, (09-28-2013) at her home.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, (10-01-2013) at 11 a.m. at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery with Dr. Curtis Barbery officiating.

Ms. Hussey was born in Randolph County to the late J.B. and Bertie Powers. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church and had worked in the textiles industry. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Harding Hussey, a son, David Baxter Hussey, and brothers, Ulysses Powers and Charles Powers.

LORRAINE BEATY MILLIKEN
Lorraine Beaty Milliken, 73, of Raleigh, died at Brighton Gardens of Raleigh on Monday, (09-30-2013).

A celebration of the life was held Wednesday, (10-02-2013) at 1 p.m. at Siler City First Baptist Church, with interment following at the Chatham Memorial Park.

She was born December 11, 1939 in Newton, the daughter of the late Elsie Phillips Beaty and John McKenzie Beaty. She graduated from Wingate College and received a Bachelor of Arts in English from the U.N.C. Chapel Hill and a Masters Degree in Library Science from U.N.C. at Greensboro. She was a media services coordinator for Guilford County Schools and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was an active member of Trinity Baptist Church where she was a member of the Ruth Covenant Sunday School Class. She volunteered for many projects and organizations including Meals On Wheels, North Raleigh Ministries, High Point Regional Hospital, and Operation Christmas Child. She took mission trips to the former Soviet Union, China and Johannesburg, South Africa where she assisted with the establishment of a library.

She is survived by her daughter, Emery Edwards Milliken of Raleigh; son, John Drury (Dru) Milliken of Raleigh; and two grandchildren She was predeceased by her sister, Carolyn Beaty Dunlap.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Church (Building Fund), 4815 Six Forks Road, Raleigh, North Carolina 27609 or Emerywood Baptist Church, 1300 Country Club Drive, High Point, NC 27262.

STEVE ALLEN BARBER
Steven Allen Barber, 56, of Goldston died Saturday, (09-14-2013) at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Memorial services were held Tuesday, (09-17-2013) at 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church in Goldston.

Steve was a native of Goldston.

Survivors include his parents, Mosley and Edna Barber of Goldston; and brother, Dennis Barber of NewPort.

MONIKA INGRID GNYP LUGAVERE
Monika Ingrid Gnyp Lugavere, 59, of Sanford, died Friday, (09-27-2013), at her home.

All services will be private.

Mrs. Lugavere was born in Hamburg, Germany, August 5, 1954, to the late Martin Gnyp and Erika Steinert Gnyp. She was a homemaker.

Surviving relatives include a son, Brian Lugavere of Hayes, VA; daughter, Melissa Marcum of Sanford; brothers, Martin Gnyp of Rocky Point, and Dieter Gnyp of Raleigh.

AMOS HINNAN JENKS
Amos Hinnan Jenks, 83, of Moncure, passed away Monday, (09-30-2013) at home.

A funeral service was held Wednesday, (10-02-2013) at 3 p.m. at Gum Springs Baptist Church.

A native of Chatham County, Mr. Jenks was born August 6, 1930, the son of the late Jeter Kinsey Jenks and Fleter Pickard. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Bobbie Ruth Johnson and Evelyn Carol Kelly.

Survivors include sisters, Doris Geraldine Lowe, Patricia Ann Holden, Nancy Elizabeth Hendricks; and step-father, Robert Goins.

The family received friends from 2 to 3 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

PEET ROZIER ADAMS
Peet Rozier Adams died on Thursday, September 26, 2013, peacefully at home. She was born in Mobile Alabama on January 29, 1929. Peet and her husband Bill Rozier moved to Kingsport in 1950 when he accepted a job at Eastman.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by son, Eric Stevens Rozier, son Bobby Adams, sister Yvonne Gray, cousin Mervin Shaffer, her first husband Bill Rozier and her second husband Bob Adams. Peet wanted everyone to know that she had two wonderful husbands that she loved and enjoyed dearly.

She leaves behind her daughter and loving caregiver Suzy Rozier, son, Butch Rozier and Lou, daughter Maryanne Chiraboga, son, Mike Adams and Betty Jane, daughter-in-law Janet Rozier, daughter-in-law Connie Adams; brother Jack Stevens and Doris, sister Baby Walsh and Jimmy, sister Bob Ann O’Brien, and brother-in- law, Glyn Gray.

Peet was always very proud of her family – they all brought her much happiness and joy. She loved them all with her whole heart. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Peet is also survived by many good friends who enriched her life.

Peet worked for Wellmont Holston Valley Hospital for over 30 years and so enjoyed her work. She was active in community and church activities and the first to offer help when friends were in need.

Special thanks to Michael Adams, Earline Barton, Rick Thacker, Lois Brookshire, Bob Roth and Wellmont Hospice. Your friendship and care are eternally appreciated.

In lieu of flowers, Peet asked that donations be made to St. Vincent de Paul, as they do so many helpful things for the people in our community. Donations should be mailed to St. Dominic Catholic Church, 2517 John B. Dennis Hwy, Kingsport, TN37660 with St. Vincent de Paul and Peet’s name referenced on your donation.

The family received friends at St. Dominic Catholic Church from 10 – 11 a.m. on Monday, September 30, followed by a Memorial Mass.

A private burial took place in Oak Hill Memorial Park on Sunday, September 29, 2013.

Pallbearers were Michael Adams, Andy Adams, William Rozier, Mark Walker and Vince Atkinson. Honorary pallbearers were Cpt. Daniel Chirigoba, Maj. Trey Chiriboga, Larry Lowe and Robert Adams.

WILLIAM CHALMERS GRIFFIN
William Chalmers Griffin, 64, of Sanford, died Saturday, (09-21-2013).

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

ROSE ETTA KOTTCAMP KROHN
Rose Etta Kottcamp Krohn, 56, of Sanford, died Sunday, (09-22-2013), at Central Carolina Hospital.

Funeral services were held at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday, (09-25-2013), at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Roy McLamb officiating. Burial followed in Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Krohn was born in Lee County to the late William Henry Kottcamp III and Etta Thurleen Johnson Kottcamp. She was also preceded in death by sisters, Bessie Teeter, Sissy O’Connor, and brother, Ray Kottcamp.

Survivors include a son, John Wesley Krohn; daughter, Etta Kottcamp; brother, William Henry “Billy” Kottcamp IV, all of Sanford; and seven grandchildren.
