EDGAR “EDDIE” T. BRADY
Siler City: Mr. Edgar “Eddie” T. Brady, age 77 of 7221 Lanes Mill Road, died Sunday September 26, 2010 at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Pleasant Grove Christian Church where he was a member with Rev. Mark Strickland and Rev. Dolan Talbert officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Military Honors provided by Randolph County Honor Guard.
Mr. Brady was a Randolph county native and the son of the late Edgar Lee and Eudie Craven Brady. He was an Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion, Post #45. He was a retired employee of Collins and Aikman in Siler City and a poultry farmer. He was caretaker of Pleasant Grove Cemetery and church grounds for many years.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Lee Brown Brady of the home; son, Ronnie Brady of Siler City; daughter, Melinda B. York and husband Marty of Siler City; grandchildren, Benjamin and Matthew York of Siler City, and Sarah York Narveson of Charlotte.
The family received friends at Joyce-Brady Chapel in Bennett, Tuesday September 28, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. and other times at the home.

LARRY “MIKE” MICHAEL COORE
Larry Michael “Mike” Coore, 53, of 272 Bonlee-Carbonton Road, Bear Creek died Tuesday, September 28, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Coore was born February 26, 1957, the son of William Henry and Virginia (Pettit) Coore. He was a native of Chatham County, a 1976 graduate of Chatham Central High School and a member of Mount Vernon Springs Presbyterian Church. He was formerly employed by Dellinger Construction Company. Mike was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Matthew Coore and his father, William H. Coore.
He is survived by his fiancee, Darlene Branson of the home; his mother, Virginia Pettit Coore of Siler City; two sisters, Sandra C. Craig of Siler City, Diane C. Lingenfelter of Siler City; three brothers, Jeff Coore of Badin Lake, Jimmy Coore of Siler City, William Coore of Siler City; daughter, Heather Coore of Rhode Island; and three grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, September 29, 2010 from 6- 8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, and other times at the home of his sister, Sandra Craig, 355 Melvin Clark Road, Siler City.
The funeral will be Thursday, September 30, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Vernon Springs Presbyterian Church, 125 Mt. Vernon Springs Road, Siler City with Rev. William H. Browder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
SHARYN YULE RILEY
Mrs. Sharyn Yule Riley, 60, of Moncure, died Wednesday (09-01-2010).
There was a gathering from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday (09-18-2010) at Hall – Wynne Funeral Home in Pittsboro for friends to visit with the family.
Mrs. Riley was born November 1, 1949 in Peekskill, NY, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Koval Yule. An employee at Serendipity Restaurant in Cary for 20 years, she was named 1998 Woman of the Year by Cary Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include her husband, Hookie Riley of the home; mother and step-father, Elizabeth and Thomas Maimone of Bull Head City, AZ; son, Dustin Bieling of Graniteville, SC; step-daughter, Christina Walton of Morrisville; sister, Linola Hussey of Moncure; brother, Thomas Yule of Howard, CO; and one grandchild. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward, and brother, James Yule.

KAREN B. ALLEN
Karen Branson Allen, 57, of Bennett, died Thursday, (09-16-2010) at Hinkle Hospice House in Lexington.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Allen was a native of Chatham County, employed with Mastercraft and attended the Bennett Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Kelly Allen of Bennett; her mother, Ruth Garner Branson, of Bennett; sisters, Kathy Powers and, Darlene Honeycutt, both of Bear Creek, Angie Jessup, of Coleridge, brothers, David Branson of Silk Hope, Dennis Branson of Siler City, and Randy Branson of Bonlee.
CLATTIE ALSTON
Clattie Alston, 92, of Siler City died Sunday (09-19-2010) at Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation of Siler City.
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Evans Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church with Rev. Kenneth Swann officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
A native of Chatham County, she was a retired employee of the Guilford County School System. She was a member of Evans Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.
TROY DANIEL SMITH
Troy Daniel Smith, 43, of Siler City died Tuesday, (09-21-2010) at his residence.
The funeral will be Thursday, (09-23-2010) at 2 p.m. at Mt. Vernon Springs Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bill Crowder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born September 4, 1967, the son of Edward Gene Smith, Sr. and Emma Jean Clark Smith. A native of Chatham County, he attended Chatham Central High School, was a member of Mt. Vernon Springs Presbyterian Church, and was employed by Dillinger's Construction Company of Monroe. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Gene Smith, Sr.
Survivors include his wife: Mertie Mashburn Smith of the home; his mother, Emma Jean Clark Smith; brothers, Edward Gene Smith, Jr., Anthony Wayne Smith, Richard Carl Smith and Mitchell Lee Smith, all of Siler City.
The family received friends Wednesday, (09-22-2010) from 7 – 9 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home and other times at the home of his mother as 457 Melvin Clark Road, Siler City. The funeral will be Thursday, September 23, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Vernon Springs Presbyterian Church, 125 Mt. Vernon Springs Road, Siler City with Rev. Bill Crowder officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
JESSE CAMP “PONCHO” THOMAS
Mr. Jesse Camp “Poncho” Thomas, 71, died Tuesday (09-21-2010) at The Laurels of Chatham.
Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Leonard Nix at 4 p.m. Thursday (09-23-2010) from the graveside at Gum Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Following the service, friends may visit with the family in the church fellowship hall.
Mr. Thomas was born November 26, 1938 in Chatham County, the son of Alton Harrison Thomas and Mandy Tipton Thomas. He retired from Webster Poultry, and was a member of Gum Springs Baptist Church in Moncure.
He was predeceased by his parents and eight brothers and sisters. There are no immediate survivors.

TAMMIE LYNN WILKIE
Tammie Lynn Wilkie, 48, of 3390 Roberts Chapel Road, Goldston died Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford.
Ms. Wilkie was born December 5, 1961, the daughter of John Raymond and Rebecca (Crissman) Wilkie. She was born in Lee County, a 1980 graduate of Chatham Central High School, the UNC Dental Assistant Program and the 22nd Basic Telecommunicator School. She worked for Dr. Lynn Smith in Sanford before going to the NC Highway Patrol. She was employed as telecommunicator with the NC Highway Patrol Troop D of Greensboro for 17 years. Tammie was an active member of Antioch Baptist Church where she was a member of the "I Am” Sunday School Class, wrote the church bulletins, taught Mission Friends and served on the decorating committee. She enjoyed working with little children, decorating, cooking and watching UNC basketball and football. Tammie was preceded in death by her father, John Raymond Wilkie.
She is survived by her mother, Rebecca Crissman Wilkie; one sister, Ann Wilkie of Goldston; many cousins and special nephews, Kenny and Kobe.
The family received friends Thursday, September 16, 2010 from 4-9 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church, and other times at the home of her sister, Ann Wilkie, 3214 Roberts Chapel Road, Goldston.
The funeral was held Friday, September 17, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Griffith, Chaplain Steve Swagger, Rev. Barry Lawrence and Rev. Pete Waddell officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

MAYNARD EUGENE MABE
Maynard Eugene Mabe of Bolivia died Wednesday (09-08-2010) at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services were held Sunday (09-12-2010) at 2 p.m. at Shallotte Church Of God with Pastor Mark Hooten officiating. Burial followed in Northwood Cemetery, Southport.
Mr. Mabe was born in Rockingham County on July 18, 1941, the son of the late Raleigh and Lilly Glidewell Mabe. He was a member of Shallotte Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Judy Britt Mabe; sons, Warren Voorhees of Bolivia, Michael Mabe of Siler City; daughters, Tonya Mabe of Bolivia, Laurie Mabe of High Point, Debbie Lewis of Siler City; sisters, Isabelle Murray of Mebane, Barbara Bonilla of Siler City; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
BERNARD WILSON TYSOR
Mr. Bernard Wilson Tysor, 78, of Goldston died Saturday (09-04-2010) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday (09-08-2010) at 3 p.m. at Thompson Chapel AME Zion Church, with Rev. Jerry Cobb officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Tysor was employed the Boling Chair Company.
Survivors include his wife, Ola Mae Curtis-Tysor; daughter, Diana Matthews of Ramseur; sons, Ricky Curtis of Ramseur, Billy Tysor of Carrboro, Bobby Tysor of Bear Creek; sister, Rosanell Grant of Greensboro; twelve grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
ARNOLD NEWBY
Mr. Arnold Newby, 52, of Siler City died Wednesday (09-01-2010).
Funeral services were held Sunday (09-05-2010) at 4 p.m. as Wesley Chapel Christian Church. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Newby was employed with Olympia Steel.
Survivors include daughters, Audrey Foxx of Staley, Dana Glover of Siler City; sons, Arnold Newby, Jr. of High Point, Jeremy Newby of Siler City; sister, Rosezetta Manuel of Chapel Hill; brothers, Steve Newby, Alex Newby, Jr., both of Siler City; and nine grandchildren.
WILLIAM “BILL” MOFFITT
Mr. William “Bill” Moffitt, 76, of Siler City died Monday (09-13-2010) at U.N.C. Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

FRANCE F. JORDAN, SR.
Leonardtown, Maryland
Brig. General France F. Jordan Sr., 76, born June 13, 1934 in Liberty, North Carolina, passed away September 4, 2010 at his home in Hollywood, Maryland.
General Jordan was commissioned in 1956 from the ROTC program at Davidson College, North Carolina. He was a graduate of the U.S. Army War College and of the regular course of the Command and General Staff College. His initial assignment was as a platoon leader, followed by duty as a company commander at the medical Training Center of Brooke Army Medical Center. In 1958, he was selected as aide-de-camp to Maj. Gen. William E. Shambora, the medical center commander.
His assignments included duty with the Army General Staff; Deputy Chief of Staff for Plans and Operations, U.S. Army Medical Command, Vietnam; Chief, Operations Division, and later Executive Officer, U. S. Army Medical Research and Development Command: Commander, 44th Medical Brigade: Deputy Director for Health Care Operations, OTSG; and Executive Officer for the Surgeon General.
In 1984 the Association of Military Surgeons of the United States named Jordan as the first recipient of the Outstanding Federal Services Health Administrator Award. In January 1984 he was selected as the first MSC officer to fill the two-star billet of Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Medical Readiness, a position from which he retired in 1987. He received the Defense Distinguished Service Medal upon his retirement, as well as the United States Public Health Service Outstanding Service Medal.
France is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Jordan of Hollywood, MD; his sister, Betty Hamilton of Star, NC; his son, France F. Jordan, Jr. “Sam”; daughter, Martha Angela Jordan; stepsons, Ian Goetchius and Wade Christian; step-daughter Laura Kimberly; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 9 a.m. in Arlington National Cemetery in the Fort. Myers Chapel.
