GLAYDS MARIE MARTINDALE OLDHAM
Gladys Marie Martindale Oldham, 92, of Sanford died Wednesday, (06-16-2010) at First Health Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.
The funeral was held Saturday, (06-19-2010), at 3 p.m. at Carbonton United Methodist Church with Rev. Ira Smith and Rev. Jeff Davis presiding. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Oldham, born September 20, 1917, was the daughter of the late John William Martindale, Sr. and Jessie Oldham Martindale. She was a member of Carbonton United Methodist Church, retired from Cornell Dublier, and a member of Mary Owens Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Carson Oldham; brothers, J. W. Martindale, Jr., William “Bill” Martindale; sisters, Sadie Mashburn, Mae Bellet, Jane Oldham; grandson, John Clinton Oldham and great-grandson, John Larkin Garner.
Survivors include a son, Carson Oldham of Carbonton; daughters, Nancy Upchurch of Lemon Springs, Brenda White of Wilson; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

BOBBY B. WILKIE
Bobby B. Wilkie, 64, of High Point, formerly of Siler City, died Thursday (06-17-2010) at Triad Health and Rehab in High Point.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday (06-20-2010) at Providence Methodist Church with Rev. Ricky Wilkie officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery with military honors provided by Randolph County Honor Guard.
Survivors include a daughter, Beverly Lynn, a son Ernest Bradley and one grandchild.
WILLIAM RUFUS “BILL” MOORE
William Rufus “Bill” Moore, age 92, of Moncure, died Thursday (06-17-2010) at his home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday (06-22-2010) at Moncure United Methodist Church with Rev. Houston Blair officiating. Burial followed in the Haywood Independent Bible Church Cemetery.
Mr. Moore was born in Chatham County, son of the late William Benjamin Moore and Beatrice Marks Moore. He was a graduate of Moncure High School, treasurer of the Moncure Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the Moncure Lions Club. He retired from Carolina Power and Light after 39 years of service. He was preceded in death by his wife Betty Ann Hicks Moore.
Survivors include a daughter Marietta M. Dixon of Fairview; son, William E. "Bill” Moore of Moncure, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
JASON EARL BALDWIN
Jason Earl Baldwin, 30, of Goldston died Sunday, (06-20-2010) at his home.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, (06-23-2010) at 2 p.m. at Goldston United Methodist Church with Rev. Thomas Simpson officiating. Burial followed in Goldston Cemetery
Mr. Baldwin was born January 8, 1980, the son of Earl Brooks Baldwin and Cheryl Phillips Baldwin. He was born in Lee County but was a lifelong Chatham County resident and a machinist by trade. Jason was of the Baptist Faith and attended Goldston Baptist Church and Antioch Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Brooks Baldwin and his grandmother, Elizabeth R. Baldwin.
Survivors include his mother, Cheryl Phillips Baldwin of the home; sisters, Heather B. Doucette of Sanford, Tina B. Morgan of Fuquay-Varina; maternal grandparents, Herman and Lois Phillips of Bear Creek; and paternal grandfather, James C. Baldwin of Bear Creek

MARION HAMRICK
Mr. Marion Otis Hamrick, 92, of Boiling Springs, passed away after a brief illness, on June 16, 2010 at Cleveland Regional Medical Center. He was born in Cleveland County on June 27, 1917 to the late John Landrum Hamrick and Docia Greene Hamrick.
He was a member of Boiling Springs Baptist Church. He retired from Cleveland Sandwich Company, and was a member of the Boiling Springs Lions Club. He served in the U. S. Army. He loved to garden, loved animals, giving many animals a home and loved to travel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Marie Hamrick. He was the youngest of three brothers and three sisters who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his son, Ron Hamrick and wife Beverly of Pittsboro; granddaughter, Rhonda H. Mathis and husband Jason of Charlotte; and step-granddaughter, Kim Sparrow and her children, Isaac, Samantha and Eliza of Pittsboro.
The family received friends on Saturday, June 19, 2010 from l0 to 11 a.m. at Boiling Springs Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the sanctuary of Boiling Springs Baptist Church with Dr. Carroll Page officiating. Burial followed at Cleveland Memorial Park.

KENNY GUY BRAXTON
Kenny Guy Braxton, 58, of Pittsboro, NC passed away Thursday (6-17-2010) at Duke Hospital due to a deteriorating heart condition. He was born January 3, 1952 in Winterville, NC to Edna and Guy Braxton.
Visitation will be held at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home in Pittsboro on June 26 at 11:30 a.m. The memorial service, also at Hall-Wynne, will be held at 1 p.m. on June 26 followed by the burial at Chatham Memorial Park in Siler City.
He graduated from Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach and received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from North Carolina Wesleyan College. He was currently working on his Masters. He was employed as an Information Technology Director by Diosynth. He enjoyed precious time with his family, fishing, camping, boating, hunting, scouting and seeing his children strive for their dreams.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 31 years, Vickie JH Braxton; his children, Jessica Sarah Braxton, Melissa Lynn Braxton, Alicia Mary Braxton, Aaron Wyatt Braxton and Katherine Elaine Wilkinson of Lubbock, Texas, along with one grandchild, Michael Blake Kirbo of Lubbock, Texas.
Survivors include his mother Edna Earl Pilgreen Braxton of Winterville, NC; father Heber Guy Braxton of Ayden, NC; brother, Robert Warren Braxton of Lynnwood, WA; sister, Deborah Marlene Luis of Midwest City, OK and nephew John Robert Luis of Midwest City, OK.

DONALD EUGENE SLAUGHTER
Donald Eugene Slaughter, 50, of 2217 Dorsett St. Burlington passed away at Alamance Regional Medical Center. Mr. Slaughter was born September 13, 1959 in Alamance County to the late William Slaughter, Sr. and Marie Kennedy Slaughter who survives. Donald worked for the city of Mebane in the recreation department and he was a member of Alamance Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Martha E. Sink; a son, Daniel Slaughter; a daughter, Lizzie Slaughter, all of the home; his mother, Marie K. Slaughter, of Alamance; three brothers, William Slaughter, Jr., Johnny Slaughter, James Slaughter; and two sisters, Becky Whitesell and Judy Albright.
A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Alamance Lutheran Church with the Rev. James Lockley. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 25, 2010 at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the home.

RUTH A. FARRELL
Ruth A. Farrell, age 78, of Pittsboro, passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010.
Ruth is preceded in death by her loving husband, Warren Farrell, and sisters, Ruby Myers and Grace Edwards.
Left to carry on her memory is her son, David Farrell; granddaughter, Amber Farrell; brother, Thomas Arnette, and sister, Virginia Bright.
The family received friends Saturday, June 19, 2010 from 9:30-11 a.m. at Hanks Chapel Church with funeral service following with Rev. Bob Wachs officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

ORVILLE V. DIXON, SR.
Orville V. Dixon, Sr., age 82, of Pittsboro, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010.
Orville was born in Jacksonville, NC on February 13, 1928 and was a long and avid NASCAR fan who never met a stranger. He also spent 55 years in farming and construction. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Gurtha Stanley Dixon of Hubert, NC.
Left to carry on his memory are his sons, Tommy Dixon and wife Bette, Orville Dixon and wife Linda, Craig Dixon and wife Denise; grandchildren, Sonny Dixon and wife Jill, Charity Gales and husband Bobby, Gabrielle Dixon, Harrison Dixon; and niece, Lynn Hyder and her son, Wayne.
The family received friends Monday, June 21, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Hall-Wynne funeral service in Pittsboro. Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 22, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Emmaus Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Moore officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

MRS. MARIAN NETTLES EMERSON
Mrs. Marian Nettles Emerson of Pittsboro, 77, died Monday, June 14, 2010 at Laurels of Chatham.
Funeral services were held at Mitchell Chapel AME Zion Church at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2010. Burial followed at Evans Chapel AME Zion Church, Siler City.
Marian Helen Elizabeth Nettles Emerson was born June 21, 1932 in Chatham County to the late Johnnie Nettles and Edna Johnson Nettles. Mrs. Emerson was a graduate of Horton High School and Livingstone College where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education and was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She pursued her passion for education by teaching at Pittsboro Primary Elementary and Horton High School. She retired from Chatham County Schools after 40 years of service.
She leaves to cherish her memories a loving husband, Henry Wade Emerson; two daughters, Melanie Sanders and Angrid Myles; two sons-in-law, four grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

VICTOR HAYWOOD TAYLOR
Victor Haywood Taylor, 79, of Pittsboro, died Thursday (06-10-2010).
The funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Shelby Stephens presiding. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Born in Wake County, August 14, 1930, Mr. Taylor was a son of Victor Hugo Taylor and Mildred Kelbough Taylor. A member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, he was a former deacon and Sunday School superintendent. He retired from Duke University after 26 years of service; and was a member of the Silk Hope Ruritan Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Joyce Taylor; daughters, Vickie Gaudette, Diane Taylor, both of Pittsboro; sisters, Doris Godfrey of Rocky Mount, Marie Fields of Durham; and one granddaughter. A brother, Vernon, preceded him in death.
