ALICE McLAUGHLIN KELLY
Alice McLaughlin Kelly, 93, of Siler City, died Friday, (06-11-2010) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Graveside service and burial was held Monday, (06-14-2010) at 11 a.m. at Chatham Memorial Park, with Rev. Tommy Steel and Edgar Robinson officiating.
Mrs. Kelly was born June 5, 1917, the daughter of Neil P. and Minnie Sizemore McLaughlin. A native of Chatham County, she was a member of Siler City Chapel and a retired day care provider. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Kelly, Sr.
Surviving is a son, Cecil L. Kelly, Jr. of Siler City, and one granddaughter.

JAMES HOKE BROOKS
James Hoke Brooks, 96, of Siler City, died Friday, (06-11-2010) at Coventry House of Siler City.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday (06-14-2010) at Sandy Branch Baptist Church, with Revs. Luther Lemon and Jim Wall officiating. Burial followed at Rives Chapel Baptist Cemetery.
Mr. Brooks was born May 17, 1914, the son of Claude and Molly Thomas Brooks. A native of Chatham County, he was a retired farmer and carpenter. His son, Jimmy Brooks, preceded him in death.
Survivors include sons, Roger Brooks, Terrell Brooks, both of Siler City; daughter, Barbara Caiazzo of NJ; sisters, Madeline Campbell of Sanford, Wilma Lemons of Siler City, Majorie Johnson of Rocky Mount; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren

JERRY LEE WOMBLE
Jerry Lee Womble, 63, of Siler City died Saturday (06-12-2010) at A Vision Come True in Burlington.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday (06-16-2010) at Knotts Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed in Chatham Memorial Park.
Mr. Womble attended J.S. Waters School in Goldston.
Survivors include his sisters, Perry Womble of Siler City, Mayie Steele, Peggy Steele, both of Harrisburg, PA; and brother, Ronald Steele of Harrisburg.
ALFRED JORDAN FOUSHEE
Alfred Jordan “Pa” Foushee, 74, of Pittsboro, died Monday (06-14-2010) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church cemetery.0020
A Chatham County native, Mr. Foushee was born November 28, 1935 to John Thomas Foushee and Emmer Jourdan Foushee. He was a retired carpenter.
Survivors include his wife, Claudia Walters Foushee; sons, Larry Smith, Jimmy Manring, Teddy Manring all of Pittsboro, Robert Manring of Roxboro; daughters, Louise Lefler, Kathy Manring, both of Pittsboro, Amanda Witting of Garner, Donna Bass of Chapel Hill; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Friends visited with the family from 6–8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Arrangements are under the care of Hall-Wynne Funeral Home of Pittsboro.
KATIE MAE SANDERFORD
Katie Mae Sanderford, 69, of Pittsboro died Friday morning, June 11, 2010. She was born in Chatham County on August 4, 1940.
Graveside services were held at Brush Creek Baptist Church Cemetery at 3 p.m. on Monday, June 14, 2010 with Rev. Ray Gooch officiating. She was buried beside her mother, Nancy Jane Hicks Ellis, who died in 2004.
Survivors include her uncle and aunt, George and Florence Thrift, and also her former husband and loving companion, Bobby Johnson.
NANCY RIGSBEE MAY
Nancy Rigsbee May, 74, of Pittsboro, died June 12, 2010 at her home.
Born April 5, 1936 in Durham, Mrs. May was the daughter of William Norman Rigsbee and Thelma McFarland Rigsbee. She was a graduate of Durham Business School, and a retired accountant/book-keeper. She was a member of Pittsboro Baptist Church.
Mrs. May served as Mayor of the Town of Pittsboro for two terms, from 2001– 2005. While serving in that position she represented the town on the Chatham County Economic Development Board and the Triangle Area Rural Planning Organization. Before being elected mayor, she served for several years on the Pittsboro Planning Board.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Norman and Kaye Mitchell-May of Wilmington, Dennis and Miranda May and Brian and Robin May all of Pittsboro; a brother, Bill Rigsbee of Albemarle; brother-in-law, Jerry Ellis of Hurdle Mills; and grandchildren, Megan Suttles of Brooklyn, NY, Erin May of Wilmington, Kasie, Keri, and Karlie May, Frank and Taylor May, all of Pittsboro. Her husband, Frank May, and a sister, Gail Ellis, preceded Mrs. May in death.
The service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Nancy May was held at 2 p.m.Wednesday at Pittsboro Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Gooch and Rev. Danny Braswell officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Friends visited with the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hall-Wynne Funeral Home in Pittsboro, and at other times at the May residence.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society, NC Chapter, 8300 Health Park, Raleigh, NC 27615.

LINDA LANG
Linda Lang, 57, died in her sleep at home on June 8, 2010. She is survived by her mother, Joan Lang (age 92), her brothers Jordan, Philip, and Christopher and their families, and by her best friend, Vickie Shea, with whom she shared a happy home in Fearrington Village along with “the girls” – cats Jamie and Samantha Grace.
Linda was a social worker all her life. She was passionate about social justice and infuriated by hypocrisy, oppression, racism, and rampant materialism. At the same time, she had a lively, generous, humorous way of bringing people together in a wide range of professional and volunteer settings. She developed Specialized Services for Children (now Community Partnerships, Inc.) for young children with developmental disabilities in Wake County. Later in her career she took a leadership role in Wake County’s services for adults with dual diagnoses of mental illness and developmental disabilities. After moving to Chatham County and retiring, she immersed herself happily in a variety of community service activities.
An informal celebration of her life along with a reception with Vickie will be held on Saturday, June 26 from 4:30 – 6:30 at Hall-Wynne funeral service, 396 West Street in Pittsboro (542-3057).

IDA GLOVER MEADOWS
Ida Glover Meadows was born May 12, 1917 in Chatham County to the Late Walter Clinton and Nannie Mitchell Glover and entered into eternal rest on June 2, 2010.
Ida was educated in the Chatham County schools. Upon graduation, she joined the Armed Forces serving in the Women’s Army Corps. She earned the rank of Staff Sargeant while serving stateside in WW II. After leaving the military, she attended North Carolina A&T State University where she received a certificate in dress making.
At an early age, Ida joined Evans Chapel AME Zion Church. Later she joined Trinity AME Zion Church and attended the Church of Christ. She loved the Trinity Bible Study and attended faithfully until her health slowed her down. She was married to the late Robert L. Meadows, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children, Edwin C. Glover (Irene), Delbert S. Glover (Sherry), Tyron Meadows (Carolyn), Deric Meadows, and Theria G. Brown (Avery); brother, Weldon (Janice); sisters, Mary Jane Graves, Geneva Lassiter, Nannie Glover, Loretta Glover; stepchildren, Robert L. Meadows, Jr. Catherine M. Thompson and Betty Becton.
Home-going services were held Monday, June 6, 2010 at 12 noon at Trinity AME Zion Church in Greensboro with Rev. Dr. Michael Frencher and Rev. Dr. Avery C. Brown officiating. Interment followed in Carolina Biblical Gardens in Jamestown.
MILTON DALE NANCE, SR.
Milton Dale Nance, Sr. 85, of Bear Creek died Tuesday (06-01-2010) at Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford.
A graveside memorial service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday, (06-05-2010) at Tyson’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bob Wachs officiating.
Mr. Nance was a Rockingham County native, a Marine WW II veteran, retired from Thompson-Arthur Paving in Greensboro, and a member of DAV Pittsboro Chapter 91.
Survivors include a son, Milton D. Nance, Jr. of Liberty; daughters, Jean Weil of Lanesville, Indiana, Joan Marie Harris of Siler City, Jan Laurel Nance of Boliva, sisters, Lucy Ann McPherson of Siler City, Carolyn Fields of Randleman, Edna Sheppard and Margaret Beasley, both of Greensboro; six grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

WILBUR JOHNSON, JR.
Mr. Wilbur Johnson, Jr., 71, of Bear Creek died Sunday (05-30-2010) at his residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday (06-05-2010) at Union Grove AME Zion Church with Dr. Jace Cox officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Adella Belle; and twelve children, Wilbur III, Cutis, Anthony, Lynn, Lorri, Wendy, Darryl, Shelby, Crystal, Chris, Kareem and Ebonystarr.
WILLIAM CURTISBRIGHT
William Curtis Bright, 82, of Siler City died Sunday, (06-06-2010) at his home.
The funeral was held Tuesday, (06-08-2010) at 4 p.m. at Meroney United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Whit-taker officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Bright was born April 11, 1928, the son of William and Ida Beal Bright. He was a native of Chatham County and a retired poultry farmer. He was of the Methodist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Mozelle Ellis Bright; one son, Glenn Bright of Bonlee; four daughters, Cherry B. Jordanc Wanda B. Stover, both of Bear Creek, Teresa B. Kidd of Robbins, NC, Janet B. Darr of Sanford; sister, Lessie Carlton of Burlington; eleven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
WAYNE CAIN
Samuel Wayne Cain, 68, of Asheboro died Tuesday (06-01-2010) at his home.
No funeral services were planned.
Mr. Cain was a native of Randolph County and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Colon Cain, Weldon Cain and sisters, Ruth Purvis and Linda Murray.
Survivors include daughters, Sheryl Pugh of Franklinville, Tonya Cain of Level Cross, Rhonda Allred of Randleman; sisters, Louise Thomas of Randleman, Mildred York of Ramseur, Juanita Hall of Bear Creek; brother, James Wesley Cain of Robbins; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
DORIS MILLER HUNEYCUTT
Doris Miller Huneycutt of Pittsboro died Thursday, June 3, 2010. She was born April 23, 1935 to Clyde and Grady Miller of North Wilkesboro. married 53 years to Jerome Huneycutt, the couple made Pittsboro their home for the past 42 years. She is survived by her husband and her three children, Jessica Mitchell and husband Arley of Greensboro, Megg Martin and husband Carl of Raleigh, William Huneycutt and wife Tracy of Pittsboro; six grandchildren, Sara Beth Martin, Kate Huneycutt, Emily Huneycutt, Josh Huneycutt, Drake Mitchell, Taylor Mitchell; and brother, George Miller of Tennessee.
Doris was a public educator for 36 years, serving 25 years in the Chatham County School system and retiring from Northwood High School in 1992. She then taught horticulture classes at CCCC for two years. A certified Master Gardener, she volunteered her time freely, serving as the curator of the Winter Garden at the J C Raulston Arboretum, writing gardening columns for the Chatham Record, Landscaping the Chatham County Council on Aging walking trail, serving on the Head Start board, active in the Chatham County Democratic Party and the Chatham Growers Association.
In 2002 Doris received a traumatic brain injury as a result of a car accident. The family would like to thank the numerous caregivers, health care professionals, and friends that have supported them through the years.
A celebration of her life was held on Sunday, June 6 at 5 p.m. at the Pittsboro Presbyterian Church. The family received visitors at the church on Saturday, June 5 from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Huneycutt Fund (for member emergency assistance) at the Pittsboro Presbyterian Church.
Doris will be remembered for her love of family, children, flowers and literature and will be dearly missed by all those who loved her.
