ALIENE WALKER KECK
Aliene Walker Keck, 76, died Friday (05-28-2010). funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, (06-02-2010) at Hanks Chapel Church with Rev. Bob Wachs presiding. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Keck was a native of Roxboro, and employed by Kayser-Roth for over 20 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Andrew Walker and Mary Nunn Walker; and husband, Roy Franklin Keck.
Survivors include daughters, Diane Keck Davis, Cathy Keck Head; sister, Edna Davis of Roxboro; brother, Jimmy Walker of Hurdle Mills; seven grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

LARRY HONEYCUTT
Larry Honeycutt, 57, of Cameron died Wednesday, (05-26-2010) at his residence.
Mr. Honeycutt was born January 25, 1953 in Sanford, to Betty and Charlie Honeycutt.
Survivors include his son Starsky Branson; daughter Misty Branson; parents, Betty and Marvin Johnson; sisters, Patricia Cummings, Patsy Ciccgna, Nancy Cummings, Betty Sue Waddell, Wanda Johnson, Brenda Mosteller; brothers, Donald Johnson, Danny Johnson, James Johnson, Marvin Johnson, Ronnie Johnson; and three grandchildren.
ROBERT MERRITT TAYLOR
Robert Merritt Taylor of Largo, FL died Monday May 10, 2010 at Brookside Facility in Palm Beach, FL.
Robert was born January 18, 1937 in Zebulon, to the late Robert Joe and Metta Merritt Taylor. He graduated from Siler City High School and attended Wake Forest University.
Robert was President of International Fabrics of High Point. He traveled all over Europe purchasing European leathers for contract furniture and airlines.
A memorial service was held in Clearwater, FL. Graveside service will be held Thursday, June 10 at 3 p.m. at Oakwood Cemetary. Visitation will be after the service.
Survivors include his sister, Gloria Lee and brother-in-law, Robert Lee of Myrtle Beach, SC; nephew, Branson Davis and wife Pearl of Winston Salem; great niece and nephew, Jessica and Tanner Davis of Winston Salem.

BILLY LOYD FREEMAN
Mr. Billy Loyd Freeman, 74, of Staley passed away Monday, May 31, 2010 at Moses Cone Hospital.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Shiloh United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family received friends on Wednesday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dice and Minnie York Freeman.
Surviving is his wife of 52 years, Elaine York Freeman of the home; one daughter, Amber Hardin (Wade) of Liberty; one son, Kenneth L. Freeman of Randleman; four grandchildren, Whitney and Daniel Freeman and Douglas and Henry Hardin; four sisters, Bertha Lineberry, Gertha Ellington, Dorothy (R.D.) Perry all of Siler City, and Beulah Brady of Asheboro.

ANNA GENE EFIRD WRAY
Anna Gene Efird Wray, age 70, of Greensboro passed away Sunday, May 30, 2010 at her home.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday June 2, 2010 at Forbis & Dick, N. Elm St. Chapel. Interment followed immediately at Lakeview Memorial Park.
Anna Wray was born November 13, 1939 in Siler City and moved to Greensboro in the late 50’s. She was a member of Magnolia Street Baptist Church and worked for 33 years at Gilbarco. Anna worked diligently on her high school Class of ‘58 reunions and keeping in touch with her friends, but most of all, she cared for her family.
She is survived by her husband Doug Wray; sisters, Moree Poe, Donna Elmore (Harold), Sandra Allen, Betty Johnson (Charlie); sister in law, Dorothy Efird; God children, Krystal Montgomery, Jon Lindeman; and beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brother Linuel Efird, and parents, Martin and Elna Efird.
The family received friends from 6 - 8 p.m., Tuesday June 1 at Forbis & Dick N. Elm Chapel.

MARY ELIZABETH EDWARDS
Mary Elizabeth Edwards, 91, of Siler City died Saturday (05-15-2010) at her residence.
Funeral services were held Friday (05-21-2010) at Corinth A.M.E. Zion Church with Rev. Mary J. Turner officiating.
Mrs. Edwards was a native of Lee County and a member of the Order of Eastern Star #521. She retired from Chatham County Schools after teaching at Jordan-Matthews High School and Chatham High School. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Brenda.
Survivors include sons, Tod Edwards of Chicago, Rob Edwards of East Orange, NJ; daughter, Wanda Edwards of Greensboro; and four grandchildren.
ROY LEE BARBER
Roy Lee Barber, 81, of Bear Creek, passed away Tuesday (05-18-2010) at his residence.
Graveside funeral service and burial were held at 2 p.m. Thursday (05-20-2010) at Pine Mountain Friends Church Cemetery with Rev. Bob Gelsthorpe and Rev. Billy Joe Brady officiating.
Mr. Barber was a Moore County native, a member of Fair Promise United Methodist Church, and retired from Carthage Fabrics. He was also a poultry farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Marie Neal Barber of the home; daughter, Sandra Hunnings of New Bern; step-daughter, Kay Gaines of Bear Creek; step-son, Wayne Phillips of Robbins; brother, Laverne Barber of Carthage; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

LAURENE PHILLIPS TALLY
Laurene Phillips Tally, 87, of Bear Creek died Thursday, (05-20-2010) at The Stratford, Chapel Hill.
The funeral was held Saturday, (05-22-2010) at 11 a.m. at Bear Creek Baptist Church with Rev. David Hicks and Chaplain Paul Traywick officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Tally was born August 8, 1922 the daughter of Thomas Lee and Ethel (Smith) Phillips. She was a native of Chatham County, retired from the Bear Creek post office and a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors include daughters: Jane Tally Burns of Bear Creek, Marie Tally Adams of Pineville, WV; son, Albert Tally of Bear Creek; brother, Loumis Phillips; seven grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

EULA “MAE” BRIGHT STONE
Mrs. Eula “Mae” Bright Stone, 91, of Lincolnton, passed away Sunday, (05-23-2010) at Lincoln Nursing Center.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday (05-26-2010) at Victory Grove Tabernacle with Rev. Larry Combs, Rev. David Jarrell and Rev. Chad Butler officiating. Burial followed in Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family received friends from 1 until 2 p.m. at the church.
Mrs. Stone was born on September 30, 1918 in Chatham County to John and Margaret Stutts Bright. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Wrenn Stone and a brother, John M. Bright. Mrs. Stone was a homemaker.
Survivors include four sons, Willie Wrenn Stone, Jr. of Johnsonville, TN, John W. Stone of N. Myrtle Beach, SC, James Stone and Fletcher D. Stone, both of Lincolnton; one daughter, Mrs. Shirl Nesladek of Hendersonville; twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.

KENNY ELIXSON
Kenny Elixson, 40, of Ramseur died Friday, (05-21-2010) at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday (05-24-2010) at Rives Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Perry Brown officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. Elixson was a native of Chatham County, born August 10, 1969, the son of Kenneth Elixson and Gail Henderson.
Survivors include his mother; Gail Dowd Henderson of Ramseur; father, Kenneth Elixson of Siler City; step-brother, James Elixson and step-sister, Jennifer Hudson of Siler City.
FANNIE BELLE MARLEY REYNOLDS
Fannie Belle Marley Reynolds, 94, of Siler City died Monday, (05-24-2010) at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, (05-27-2010) at 3 p.m. at Emmaus Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Reynolds was born October 20, 1915, the daughter of Charles E. and Lora (Elliott) Marley. A native of Guilford County, a graduate of Pleasant Garden High School and a retired nursing home attendant, she was a member of Emmaus Baptist Church and the Senior Adult Sunday school class. Mrs. Reynolds was preceded in death by her husband, Coy Reynolds, sons, Ronald Lee, Arnold Lewis Reynolds, Terry Donald Reynolds, and a granddaughter, Annette Hudson.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara R. Hudson of Siler City; five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
The family received friends Wednesday, (05-26-2010) from 7-9 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home.

Danny Joe “ D. J. “ Speight, 29, of Robbins died Tuesday (05-25-2010) at his home.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday (05-28-2010) at Pleasant Grove Christian Church Cemetery with Rev. Tim Strider and Rev. Steve House officiating.
Mr. Speight is survived by his mother, Barbara Hayes Tesh, step-father Kenneth Tesh, both of the home; father, Joesph Daniel Speight, step-mother, Vickie B. Speight, both of High Falls; brother Bruce Allen Speight of Asheboro; paternal grandmother, Sarah Speight of Bennett; half-sisters, Janna Kidd and Chea Broadway.
Visitation will follow the graveside service in the church fellowship hall.
