RICHARD L. COPELAN, SR.
Richard L. Copelan, Sr. 63, of 18175 NC Hwy 902, Bear Creek died Friday, March 26, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Copelan was a native of Plymouth, IL. Richard was a graduate of Green-wood High School in Lemon Springs, NC and attended Faith Bible College in Ankenny, Iowa. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the Disabled American Veterans in Pittsboro. Mr. Copelan was an active member of Tyson's Creek Baptist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher and a deacon of the church.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sue Ann Smith Copelan; two daughters, Kimberly C. Brafford and husband, Troy, Kerri C. Walker and husband, Michael; two sons, Lee Copelan and wife, Wendy, Terry Copelan and wife, Devon; three sisters, Vickie C. Blue, Belita C. VanDeVoord, Cindy C. Paul; one brother. Donald Copelan; grandchildren, Allison Copelan, Abbey Copelan, Caleb Brafford, Joshua Brafford, Adaleigh Copelan, Grant Copelan and Houston Walker.
The family received friends Saturday, March 27, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City. The funeral was held Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 3 p.m. at Tyson's Creek Baptist Church, 10891 Siler City-Glendon Road, Bear Creek with Rev. Scott Walker and Rev. Brian Sandifer officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

MS. JO ANN HEADEN
Jo Ann Headen, 55, a lifelong resident of Siler City, NC passed away in Woodbridge, VA on Wednesday, March 24, 2010. Jo Ann was a member of the Siler City Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
She is survived by two daughters, Carlissa Forrest and husband Jerald of Virginia, April Mosley and husband Robert of Missouri; three sisters, Juanita Reives, Martha Yarborough, both of Siler City, Norma Yarborough of Asheboro; two brothers, Robert Headen and wife Hazel of Siler City, Hugo Headen and wife Jenny of Jacksonville, Fl; five grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends at the home of Juanita Reives 1315 Summer Drive, Siler City. Public viewing will be at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home, Saturday, April 3, 2010 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. funeral service will immediately follow at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home. Burial service will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

THELMA “SUDIE” OLDHAM BINKLEY
Thelma "Sudie" Oldham Binkley, 84, of 155 Wilson Road, Goldston died Saturday, March 27, 2010 at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford. Mrs. Binkley was born September 3, 1925, the daughter of Wilbur Mandy Willett Oldham.
Mrs. Binkley was a native of Lee County and a member of Bethlehem Methodist Church. She was retired from Townsends, Inc and previously had been a supervisor at A. J. Schneierson & Sons. Thelma loved cooking, reading and spending time with her children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Claude A. (JR) Binkley, a son, Larry Binkley and a great-grandson, Kelly Modrey.
She is survived by four daughters, Dianne B. Moore and husband, Chub of Bear Creek, Gail B. Scott and husband, Ricky of Bear Creek, Mandi B. Corns of Goldston, Kayla Corns of Goldston; four sons, Gerald Binkley and wife, Teresa of Goldston, Ray Binkley and wife, Annette of Bear Creek, Billy Binkley of Bonlee, Tommy Binkley and wife, Karen of Goldston; one brother, Tom Oldham of Siler City; two half sisters, Anne Fore of Olivia, Marie Hasley of Sanford; a special nephew, Johnny Binkley and wife, Charlene; 19 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
The family received friends Monday, March 29, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, and other times at the home of a son, Gerald Binkley, 810 Wilson Road, Goldston. The funeral was held Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem Methodist Church, 900 North Plank Road, Sanford with Rev. Ira Smith officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
VICKY T. ALBRIGHT
Vicky T. Albright, 62, of Siler City died Saturday, (03-20-2010) at her residence.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, (03-23-2010) at Rocky River Friends Meeting, with Rev. Hank Brady and David Hobson officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Albright was born October 3, 1947 in Alabama, the daughter of Lester Earl and Hazel Smith Tracy. A home maker and bookkeeper for Albright Diesel, she was a member of Rocky River Friends Meeting.
Survivors include her husband, James R. Albright; daughter, Rebecca Parnell; sons, Richard L. Albright, Daniel T. Albright, all of Siler City; and nine grandchildren.

MARIE POND JONES
Marie Pond Jones, 76, of Siler City died Sunday, (03-21-2010) at Hospice & Palliative Care Center of Alamance-Caswell in Burlington.
Funeral services were held Wednesday (03-24-2010) at 11 a.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Bowden officiating. Burial followed in Chatham Memorial Park.
Mrs. Jones was born September 22, 1933, the daughter of Richard Armstead and Carol Inez Jones Pond. A native of Chatham County and retired from Selig Manufacturing, she was preceded in death by a brother, Richard G. Pond.
Survivors include her husband, Jesse Jones; daughters, Janet J. Glass of Fuquay-Varina, Vickie J. Pate of Asheboro; son, Dwight A. Jones of Burlington; sister, Barbara Pond Walker of Lottsburg, VA; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

TIMOTHY EDWARD CHAMBERS
Timothy Edward Chambers, 49, of Lowell, died Friday, (03-19-2010) at his residence.
A private family service will be held in Siler City and a celebration of life will be held at a later date in Lowell.
Mr. Chambers was born August 27, 1960, the son of Edgar and Mildred McLemore Chambers. He was a native of McDowell County, WV. He served in the US Army, was a certified chef, working on his Masters Degree in Psychology and a member of the Carolina Bikers Association.
Survivors include a daughter, Amanda Chambers of Fayetteville, WV; sisters, Josephine Lester of Siler City, Shelby Stroupe of Princeton, WV; and brother, Mark Chambers of Siler City.

NETTIE LILLIAN KIRBY WILLIAMS
Mrs. Nettie Lillian Kirby Williams of Chatham County died Saturday (03-20-2010) at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday (03-25-2010) at Hamlet Chapel C.M.E. Church, Pittsboro. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service from 1:30-2 p.m.
Survivors include daughters, Florine Kirby Sanders, Evelyn Williams Riggsbee, Martha Price Caldwell; son, Eddie L. Williams, Jr.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Jones Funeral Home in Chapel Hill.
MS. MARY ALICE GREEN
Greensboro – Ms. Mary Alice Green, 64, died Monday, March 15, 2010. She was born March 29, 1945 to the late Frank James and Margaret Staley Green. Mary was a graduate of High School in Norfolk, Va., and a member of Life Community Church in High Point. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Herbert James Green.
Surviving are two sisters, Carol Green of Virginia Beach, VA, Bettie Green Spencer and husband Robert of Winston Salem; three nephews, Tim Spencer and wife Rita of Winston Salem, Kevin Spencer and wife Vikki of Rogers, AR, Craig Spencer and wife Lourdes of St. Louis, MO.
A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 19, 2010 at Staley Town Cemetery in Staley, with Dr. Mark Ashworth officiating. Refreshments were served following the service.
Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel is assisting Ms. Green’s family.

IDA MAE HILLIARD
Mrs. Ida Mae Hilliard, age 86, of Sanford died Saturday, March 20, 2010 at Sanford Health and Rehab.
She was born in Lee County to the late Wesley and Ada Fox Thomas. She was preceded in death by her husband, June Hilliard, sons, Jimmy Banks, Ronnie Banks and daughter Judy Webster. She was retired from Kaiser-Roth where she worked as a stock room clerk. She was a member of East Sanford Baptist Church, active at the Enrichment Center and also a member of the Red Hat Society.
Surviving are two sons, Gary Banks and wife Alma, and Darrell Hilliard both of Sanford; daughter, Sue Tighe of Sanford; brother, Joe Thomas of Sanford; sisters, Gladys Thomas and Catherine Collins, both of Sanford; 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held Sunday, March 21, 2010 at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home from 4 to 6 p.m. and other times at 3710 Woodside Dr., Sanford, NC. Funeral services were conducted Monday, March 22, 2010, at 2 p.m. at East Sanford Baptist Church with the Rev. Robbie Gibson and the Rev. Dick Leaptrott officiating. Burial followed in Carbonton UMCC Cemetery.

JIMMY TAYLOR
Mr. James Steven “Jimmy” Taylor, 42, of Siler City died Tuesday, (03-09-2010) at his home.
A private memorial service will be held.
Born March 31, 1967 in Washington, DC, Mr. Taylor was the son of Benjamin Franklin Taylor and Helen Cason Taylor. He received a degree in Biology from UNC at CH, and was a computer network engineer at the time of his death.
He is survived by his wife, Amy Rose Taylor of Chapel Hill; his mother, Helen Taylor; and sister, Linda Diamond, both of Potomac, VA.

BETTY LOU L. CALDWELL
Betty Lou Caldwell, 67, of Siler City, died Saturday, (03-13-2010) at Chatham Hospital, Inc. She was born September 10, 1942, the daughter of the late David M. and Sercy Kimrey Lineberry.
The funeral was held Tuesday, (03-16-2010) at 2 p.m. at Community Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Agan and Rev. Dan Principe officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Caldwell was a native of Chatham County, a member of Community Baptist Church, and retired from Wright Furniture.
Survivors include her husband, Charles J. Caldwell; two daughters, Brenda C. Lipofski of Pittsboro, Patsy C. Watson of Charlotte; two brothers, Layton Lineberry, Elvin Lineberry, both of Siler City; and five grandchildren.
ERNEST F. TILLMAN
Ernest F. Tillman, 86, of 920 West Sixth Street, Siler City died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Chatham Hospital, Inc., Siler City. Mr. Tillman was born November 15, 1923, the son of Lawrence Hardin Tillman and Wanda (Boyd) Tillman.
Mr. Tillman was a native of Chatham County, a retired truck driver, having worked for Siler City Mills, Carolina Poultry and Gulf Oil. He had been owner-operator of Feedwell Cafe, ran a saw mill and was an avid NASCAR fan. Ernest loved to play golf, work in his garden and was proud of his John Deere tractor. He was an honorary member of the Law Enforcement Association and was a member of Moon's Chapel Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Berta (Wilson) Tillman; two daughters, Becky T. Oliver and husband, Tommy of Gibsonville, Linda T. Pleasants and husband, David of Greensboro; one son, Ernest Michael Tillman of Siler City; two sisters, Alberta T. Reitzel of Port Orange, FL, Louise T. Cotner of Asheboro; sister-in-law, Joan Tillman of Siler City; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Odell Tillman and granddaughter, Julie Ann Pleasants.

A Celebration of Life was held Friday, March 12, 2010 at 11 a.m..at Moon's Chapel Baptist Church, 175 Moon's Chapel Road, Siler City with Rev. Scott Faw officiating.

WADE MONT WARD, JR.
Wade Mont Ward, Jr., 85, of 7166 Jordan Road, Ramseur, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at Universal Health Care of Ramseur.
Mr. Ward was born September 13, 1924, the son of Wade Mont and Lela McMasters Ward, Sr. He was a native of Chatham County and was retired from Ithaca Hosiery in Robbins. He was a volunteer with the Broadway Fire Department, served for 20 years with the Robbins Rescue Squad and was a member of the Robbins Masonic Lodge. Wade was a charter member of the Randolph County Rescue Squad, a member and a former deacon of the Staley Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank the staff of Universal Health Care of Ramseur for their attention during Wade Mont's illness.
He is survived by his wife, Estelle Siler Ward; one son, William "Eddie" Ward and wife, Vanessa of Siler City; two step-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.
