HUGH QUINTON KING
Hugh Quinton King, 90, of Bonlee School Road, Bear Creek, died Thursday, March 26, 2009 at Chatham Hospital, Inc., Siler City.
Mr. King was born November 11, 1918, the son of Lewis N. and Nancy King. He was a native of Sevier County, TN, and a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was an Army Veteran of WWII and owner/operator of King's Grocery. Hugh was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Nancy King, a son, Ronald H. King, and a granddaughter, Jill T. King, Michael and Anthony Barbaza.
He is survived by his wife: Daphne (Andrew) King, daughters, Jane K. Teleki of Greenville, Brenda K. Nall and Johnnie of Bear Creek, Annie King-Gaines and John of Goldston, Alice L. King of San Diego, CA, Rose M. King of Wake Forest; three sons, Terry A. King and Gail of Apex, Samuel L. King and Leslie of Bear Creek, J. Nathan King of Concord; grandchildren, Marisa & Mike Barbaza, Jason Teleki, Sean King & Liz, Charles Nall & Jo, Andrew Nall, Gavin Nall, Andrea Porter & Bo, Quinton King, Brandon King & Amy, Brent King, Justin King-Gaines, Tristan White, Kimberly Williams, Tara Jasper; great-grandchildren, Zachary Nall, Sarah Nall, Oscar Barbaza, Quinn Barbaza, Carter King; special friends, daughter-in-law, Diane King, John, David, Theresa and Joe.
The family received friends Friday, March 27, 2009 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 17721 NC Hwy 902, Bear Creek. The funeral was held Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, with Rev. J. Nathan King and Rev. Darrel Garner officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with Masonic rites.

HELEN VIRGINIA FOGLEMAN ANDREWS
Helen Virginia Fogleman Andrews, 86, of 519 West Dolphin Street, Siler City died Thursday, March 26, 2009 at her residence.
Mrs. Andrews was born December 4, 1922, the daughter of Claude and Cladie Williams Fogleman. She was a native of Siler City and the board chairman for the family business, Liberty Auto Parts. She was the longest living member of the First United Methodist Church of Siler City, where she served as a Sunday School teacher and a member of the United Methodist Women. Helen was a friend to all. She was preceded in death by her husband, R. Mack Andrews, Sr.
She is survived by two daughters, Claudia Andrews Mace of Sanford, Nancy Andrews Palmer and husband, Steve of Siler City; and one son, Robert McManus Andrews, Jr. and wife, Jane of Siler City; one sister, Mattisu Kain of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Jay Palmer and wife, Katie, Allison Palmer and Andrea Mace.
The family received friends Friday, March 27, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 1101 West Raleigh Street, Siler City. The funeral was held Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 4 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Mike Sykes officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery.

JAMES HERROLD WOODY
Mr. James Herrold Woody, 87, of Morris Road, Pittsboro, died Saturday, March 28, 2009 at his residence.
A Yancey County native, Mr. Woody was born in Burnsville on September 20, 1921 to Russell and Minnie Garland Woody. He attended Lees-McRae College, then entered the US Navy where he served on submarines for 18 of his 22 years in service. Following his discharge from the Navy, he taught ROTC at UNC in Chapel Hill until his retirement. A member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Pittsboro, Mr. Woody was also a metal fabricator of HVAC systems.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Workman Woody; daughters, Susan Blietz and husband Brent of Charlotte, Sharon Scott and husband David of Pittsboro, Diane Ramsey and her children, Matthew Caddell and Rachel Fields all of Pittsboro; son, Ronnie Woody and wife Sandra of Pittsboro; brother, Shelby Woody and wife Ramie of Bakersville; sisters, Mildred Cannon of Jonesboro, TN, Catherine Sparks of Winston-Salem; 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Woody was preceded in death by a son, Michael Woody, and a brother, Russ Woody.
The service to celebrate Mr. Woody’s life was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 31, 2009 from Mt. Gilead Baptist Church in Pittsboro with Rev. Dan Robinson presiding.
Friends visited with the family in the church fellowship hall following the service.
Memorial contributions may be directed to either the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association, or to Mt. Gilead Baptist Church.
Arrangements were under the care of Hall-Wynne funeral service and Cremation, Griffin Chapel, 396 West Street, Pittsboro, NC 27312.
PAULINE MOFFITT MOODY
Pauline Moffitt Moody, 88, of 1025 Wade Paschal Road, Siler City died Sunday, March 29, 2009 at her residence.
Mrs. Moody was born May 29, 1920, the daughter of the late Kirby and Ida Kidd Moffitt. She was a native of Chatham County, a retired homemaker and a member of the First Wesleyan Church of Siler City. She enjoyed working in her flowers. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Kirby and Ida Kidd Moffitt; two daughters, Mary Hicks and Doris Jarrett.
She is survived by five daughters, Linda M. Campbell of Denton, Barbara M. Bowman of Siler City, Helen M. Reynolds of Siler City, Peggy M. Lecory of Siler City, Sheila M. Pegram of Thomasville; and three sons, Tommy Moody of Siler City, Steve Moody of Snow Camp, Henry Moody of Siler City; fifteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.
The family received friends Tuesday, March 31, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, 230 North Second Avenue, Siler City, NC. The graveside service was held Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 11 a.m. at Chatham Memorial Park, 13260 Hwy 64 West, Siler City with Rev. Eddie McClure officiating.

RUBY EUBANKS BALDWIN
Ruby Lee Baldwin, age 93, of Siler City died Monday, March 30, 2009 at Sunnybrook Rehabilitation and Healthcare, Raleigh. Mrs. Baldwin was born March 4, 1916, the daughter of Jerome Clarence and Lumma Sears Eubanks.
The graveside services will be Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 2 p.m. at Chatham Memorial Park, with Rev. James Wall officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to those services at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home.
Mrs. Baldwin was a native of Chatham County and retired from Boling Chair Company after 54 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, a Gray Lady, and served as past president of the Ladies Garden Club. She loved gardening, especially raising tomatoes. Ruby had worked for J. Lee Moody, Attorney-At-Law. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Fleet Baldwin.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda B. Alexander of Tampa, FL; sons, Fleet Baldwin, Jr. and wife, Connie of Fuquay-Varina, J. B. Baldwin and wife, Carolyn of Powhatan, VA; five grandchildren and three great- grandchildren.

CHRIS MOTE LILLEY
Snow Camp – Mrs. Chris Mote Lilley was called home in the early morning hours of March 28, 2009.
Chris was born September 3, 1937 on Roanoke Island, Manteo, NC. During her life, she resided in Siler City, NC, Manteo, NC, Yellowstone National Park, WY, and most recently in Snow Camp, NC.
She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Leslie and Elma Lowe; grandparents, Ryan and Lydia Midgett. Chris is survived by her daughters, Gayle Snyder and husband Tom, Teresa Willis and husband Robert; her son, Morris Mote and wife Sharon; her grandchildren, Daniel and Kristin Syder, Lauren and Morris Mote; husband, Hume Lilley, and many beloved Midgett cousins and friends.
A remembrance service will be held for family and friends at 2 p.m., April 4 at Faith Baptist Church in Manteo, NC to celebrate her life.

BESSIE ELIZABETH HEDRICK
Bessie Elizabeth Hedrick, 78, of 2762 Hampstone Road, Siler City died Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Pinelake Health and Rehab. Center, Carthage.
Ms. Hedrick was born April 15, 1930, the daughter of Roy Frank and Annie Brooks Hedrick. Ms. Hedrick was a native of Person County, a member of the First Baptist Church of Siler City, where she sang in the choir. She attended UNCG and graduated with honors from Sandhills Community College with a degree in Human Services. She was a Compensatory Education Instructor for Chatham Trades, and also worked as a hairdresser and had taught cosmetology. Bessie was an active member of the Democratic Party. She loved to travel, sing and play the piano. Bessie was a loving mother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Annie Brooks Hedrick and brother, Robert William Hedrick. She was like a caregiver and always a longtime friend and side-kick, as Bessie would call her, to Judy Mooneyhan.
She is survived by three daughters, Connie H. Evans and husband, Harold of Troy, Cathy H. Andrews and husband, Roger of Chapel Hill, Carolyn H. Thomas and husband, Kenny of Fairview; two sons, J. Curtis Harris, Jr. and wife, Mary of Barrington, IL, Brooks Hedrick Poe of Siler City; one sister, Eleanor H. Clapp of Siler City; sister-in-law, Nannie Lou Hedrick of Asheboro; grandchildren, Talli Brooke Poe, Ray Evans and wife, Christy; great-granddaughter, Carley Evans; several nieces and nephews and several great- nieces and nephews.
The family received friends Wednesday, April 1, 2009 from 7-9 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home. The funeral will be Thursday, April 2, 2009 at 11 a, m. at First Baptist Church, 314 N. 2nd Ave., Siler City. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.

JOHN WALTER GOLDSTON
John Walter Goldston, age 78, of 801 Pinehurst Avenue, Carthage died Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Pinelake Health and Rehab.Center, Carthage.
Mr. Goldston was the son of Walter H. and Irene Brower Goldston. John "Sonny" Goldston was a native of Goldston in Chatham County. He was retired and a member of Tyson Creek Baptist Church. After suffering several debilitating strokes he relocated to Tara Plantation and during that time, nearly five years, they became his extended family. He loved putting puzzles together and rooting for the Carolina Tarheels. In January, 2009, he was transferred to Pinelake Health and Rehab where he was a victim of the tragic shooting of 3/29/2009.
He is survived by one daughter, Janet G. Merrill and husband, Don of Harrisburg; three sons, Mike Goldston of Sanford, Gary Goldston and wife, Brenda of Willow Spring, John Goldston and wife, Pam of Bonlee; one sister, Mrs. Ferry Barber, Jr. of Goldston; fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be sent to Tara Plantation at P O Box 248, Carthage, NC 28327 for planned activities for the current residents of which, many were his friends.
LILLIAN NALL DUNN
Lillian Nall Dunn, 89, of Robbins died Sunday, March 29, 2009 at Pinelake Health Care in Carthage.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Pine Mountain Friends Church with Rev. Kevin Boswell and Rev. Robert Kidd officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Dunn was a Moore County native, a homemaker, and the widow of Archie Dunn.
Survivors include a son, Bobby Dunn of Robbins; daughters, Linda D. Hunt, Barbara D. Lamb, both of Asheboro; grandchildren, Gregory, Richard and Keith Dunn, Pam Frazier Campbell, Penny Gordon, Jackie Stevenson, Kelly Scott, Corey and Adam Lamb, Michael Hodgin, Amanda Hunt; and 18 great-grandchildren.
The Dunn family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Joyce-Brady Chapel in Bennett and other times, at the Bobby Dunn residence, 1640 Wilson Road, Robbins, NC 27325.
WALTER G. WILLIAMSON
Walter Garland Williamson, 86, of Franklinville, died Tuesday, (03-17-09) at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.
Funeral services were held at Saturday, (03-21-09) at 3 p.m. at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Leon Thompson officiating. Burial followed at Pleasant Ridge Christian Church, Ramseur.
Mr. Williamson was a Moore County native, retired from Kayser - Roth Hosiery and attended the Ramseur Wesleyan Church. He was a WWII Army Veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Velna Eva Welborn Williamson, of the home; sons, Gary L. Williamson of Apex; Tony C. Williamson of Siler City; brother, Weldon Williamson, of Ramseur; and two grandchildren.

TED WAYLON WALLACE
Ted Waylon Wallace, 66, of Siler City died Tuesday, (03-17-09) at his residence.
Funeral services were held Saturday, (03-21-09) at 2 p.m. at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. David Hicks officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery with military rites.
Mr. Wallace was the son of David Henry and Thelma Gautier Wallace and a native of Harnett County. He retired from Brookwood Farms, attended Bethany Baptist Church, and was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
He is survived by his wife, Bettie Webster Wallace; two daughters, Vivian J. Wallace of Apex, Julia E. Wallace of Siler City; three sisters, Naomi W. Cotton, Vickie W. Hickman, Patsy Wallace all of Sanford; brothers, Elton Wallace of Gastonia, Larry Wallace, Tommy Wallace, Phillip Wallace, Donnie Wallace, Jimmy Wallace, all of Sanford; and three grandchildren.

GRACE LEE BLALOCK EDWARDS
Mrs. Grace Lee Edwards, 92, died Tuesday, (03-17-09) at Brian Center of Lexington.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, (03-20-09) at Sandy Branch Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Wall officiating.
Mrs. Edwards was the daughter of the late Gus and Addie Spivey Blalock. She was preceded in death husband, Woodrow Wilson (Ed) Edwards; sisters, Margie Brooks, Brona Stanley Williams, Fleda Underwood; brothers, Bill, Tom, and Russell Blalock.
Mrs. Edwards worked with Greensboro Manufacturing, and later retired with Levi-Strauss Corporation.
Survivors include son, Harold Ray Edwards, Sr. of Winston Salem; two grandsons and three great grandsons.
