DAVID WHITE
David White, 60, of Greensboro died Monday (12-01-2008) at Moses Cone Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday (12-06-2008) at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Liberty, with Rev. Harold Garner officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mr. White was educated in the Chatham County public school system and employed by RESCO Company of Greensboro.
Survivors include his father, Floyd White; sister, Patricia W. Bowden, Dale W. Moore; and brother, Robbie White.
MARGARET ANN SNIPES JOHNSON
Margaret Ann Snipes Johnson, 52, of Siler City died Tuesday (12-09-2008) in Chatham Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday (12-15-2008) at Pine Hill United Church of Christ with Rev. Timothy Blackwell officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Johnson was educated in the Baltimore public school system. She was a cook at Careview Rest Home, Siler City.
Survivors include sons, Terrell Snipes of Franklinville, Jarvis Snipes of the home; sisters, Lois Sutton of Siler City, Mana Lucy of Graham, Barbara Lott of Pittsboro, Elizabeth Ridley, Linda Byrd, Eleanora Snipes, Earnesta Jones, all of Baltimore, MD; brothers, James Dennis Snipes of Baltimore; and four grandchildren.
JOAN PATRICIA PHILLIPS-TRIMMER
Joan Patricia Phillips-Trimmer died suddenly December 7, 2008 at her residence in Chapel Hill, NC.
Joan graduated from Wallace O'Neal High School of Pinehurst. She attended Dickinson College two years and graduated from William and Mary College. She received a Masters Degree in Health Education from the UNC-CH and served as Health Educator at West Point Academy and subsequently with the US Coast Guard in New York City and Cape May, NJ. She subsequently returned to Chapel Hill, NC and worked in the Health Department of Chatham County. She was working on an advanced degree in social work when she died.
Joan used her musical talent in the church choir and many musical shows and performances. She was a great friend of many people and a lover of animals.
Joan is survived by her husband, Michael Trimmer; her father, Dr. Charles Phillips of Pinehurst and Greensboro; her mother, Carol Oettinger of Durham; and siblings, Janet Phillips Campbell, Charles C. Phillips, Nancy Phillips and Liz Brophy.
A private family service was held this week; and a memorial service for her many friends will be held at the Community Church of Chapel Hill at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 17, 2009.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to either Community Church of Chapel Hill, 104 Purefoy Rd., Chapel Hill, NC 27514; Chatham County Habitat for Humanity, Pittsboro, NC; or to CARE (Chatham Animal Rescue and Education), Pittsboro, NC.
Arrangements were under the care of Griffin funeral service and Cremation of Pittsboro.
MS. MARY ALICE RENFRO BEALL
Ms. Mary Alice Renfro Beall, age 62, of Chapel Hill, NC, died on Friday, December 12, 2008, following a brave battle with leukemia.
Mary was born on October 31, 1946 in Alexandria, VA, was raised in Florida, and has lived in Chapel Hill for the past 15 years. She was predeceased by her father, Leon Renfro of Boca Raton, FL. She was a graduate of Seacrest High School in Delray Beach, FL, and North Carolina Central University in Durham, NC. After graduation, she worked for Operation Breakthrough, a non-profit community action agency in Durham.
Mary was a librarian in Stovall, NC, for many years and was active with the Granville Little Theatre group. Most recently, she was the branch manager for the Pittsboro Memorial Library until her recent retirement due to illness. Mary was an active member of the Triangle Area Mushroom Club.
She is survived by her daughter, Megan Beall Rosengarten of Norwalk, CT, and her mother, Mary Ann Renfro of Cocoa Beach, FL. She is also survived by her loving pets – her dog Sheila and kitty Roux.
Mary touched everyone that she met with her caring nature and great sense of humor. She was looking forward to becoming a grandmother and helping daughter Megan and her husband, Adom, plan for their first baby – due any day now.
Many thanks go out to the caring doctors and amazing nurses at UNC Hospital and to all of Mary’s friends for their support.
Friends are invited to a memorial gathering from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, December 19, in Walker’s Funeral Home of Chapel Hill.

NENA LINDLEY WOODY
Nena Lindley Woody, age 100, of 2130 Woody Store Road, Siler City died Tuesday, December 16, 2008 at Chatham Hospital, Siler City. Mrs. Woody was born December 1, 1908, the daughter of Percy and Lula (Guthrie) Lindley.
Mrs. Woody was a native of Chatham County and the last living graduate of Big Meadows School. She was a member of Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church, a member of the Parson's Committee and the Ladies Sunday School Class. Nena worked as a sales clerk with Roses Dime Store and enjoyed gardening and cooking. She was preceded in death by her husband, Newton W.
Woody; brothers, Garvin G. Lindley, Irvin G. Lindley; and sisters, Erma L.
White and Emma L. Perry.
She is survived by one son, Julius W. Woody of Siler City; one brother, Marvin R. Lindley of Siler City, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday, December 18, 2008 from 10:30-11 a.m. at Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church, 5016 Silk Hope-Gum Spring Road, Pittsboro. The funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church with Rev. Bob Way and Rev. M. Brian Wellborn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

KENNETH RAY MILLER
Mr. Kenneth Ray Miller, 83, of Pittsboro died Tuesday (12-02-2008) at Pittsboro Christian Village.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday (12-05-2008) at Pittsboro Christian Village chapel with Mr. Gerald Baker officiating. Interment was held at Chatham Memorial Park.
Mr. Miller was a native of Olympia, WA, the son of Williard and June Crosby Miller. He retired as an accountant with the U.S. Government, moved to Pittsboro, and was a member of Pittsboro Bible Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Miller; sons, Dan Miller of Raleigh, John Miller of Colorado Springs, CO; brothers, Willard and Don Miller: sisters, Ginger Johnson; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to the Benevolent Fund of Pittsboro Christian Village, 1825 East Street, Pittsboro, NC 27312.
SUE KRAMER
Susan “Sue” Humphrey Kramer, 90, of Pittsboro died Tuesday (12-02-2008) at Chatham Hospital in Siler City.
No service is scheduled at this time.
Mrs. Kramer was a native of Maysville and the daughter of Areteus Humphrey and Clara Barbee Humphrey. She was a retired, registered nurse, and was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Kramer and son, Donald Philip Kramer.
Survivors include sons, Joe Kramer of Pittsboro, Leonard Kramer of Texas; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

MATILDA SINCLAIR HARBISON
Matilda Sinclair Harbison, 84, of Pittsboro, died Thursday (12-04-2008) at Twin Rivers in Pittsboro.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday (12-06-2008) at Mt. Pleasant United Church with Rev. Jimmy Owens and Rev. Rex Brooks officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Harbison was a native of McDowell County, a member of Mt. Pleasant United Church, and retired from Fowler’s Food Store as a bookkeeper.
Survivors include daughters, Peggy Williams of Ennice, Marianne Odom of Summerville, SC; son, Sid Harbison of New Hill; brother, Peter Sinclair of San Ramon, CA; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
RUTH JONES WILSON
Ruth Jones Wilson, 86, formerly of Siler City, died Friday (12-05-2008) at Brian Center in Clayton.
Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Sunday at Brookdale Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Queen and Rev. Christopher St. Jean officiating. Burial followed in Loves Creek Baptist Cemetery.
Mrs. Wilson was a native of Chatham County, a member of Brookdale Baptist Church and the senior adult Sunday school class there. Owners and operators of Wilson’s Taxi Service and Bus Station, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Fletcher Wilson, Sr.; infant son, Timothy Wilson; sisters, Margaret Pike, Louise Dorsett, Hazel Hough; and brother, Herbert Jones, Jr.
Survivors include sons, Fletcher Wilson, Jr. of Kernersville, Glenn Ray Wilson of Thomasville; daughter, Betty W. Greene of Clayton; sisters, Beatrice J. Burgess of Ramseur, Doris J. Lemmons of Lumberton, Peggy Jones of Siler City; six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
ELEANOR SCHWIEN WOMBLE
Eleanor Schwien Womble, 88, of Pittsboro died Thursday (12-04-2008) at Chatham Hospital in Siler City.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday (12-08-2008) at Chatham United Methodist Church with Rev. Pat Sykes and Rev. Tom Danek officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Womble was born in Maryland, the daughter of Otto and Selma Schellenberg Schwien. She was a graduate of Surrattsville High School, and an employee of the US Chamber of Commerce in Washington, DC in her earlier years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey Womble, two brothers, two sisters, and one great-grandchild.
Survivors include a son, Richard Womble of Charlotte; daughter, Peggy Bolejack of Pittsboro; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

NELLIE ANN ELEKES
Mrs. Nellie Ann Elekes, 90, of Bear Creek, formerly of Castle Haynes, died Sunday (12-07-2008) at N.C. Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill.
A memorial service will be held at a later date in the Wilmington area.
Mrs. Elekes was a native of Scotland County, a retired postmaster of Moores Creek, and a member of St. Stanis Laus Catholic Church in Castle Hayne.
Survivors include a daughter, JoAnne Dowd of Bear Creek; son, Joseph Elekes, Jr. of Greensboro; two grandchildren and one-great-grandchild.
LINDA WATSON PRICE
Linda Watson Price, 56, of Siler City dies Tuesday (12-02-2008) at Randolph Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday (12-06-2008) at Glovers Grove A.M.E. Zion Church with Rev. Gloria Moore officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Price was a native of Chatham County, a member of Glovers Grove, and was employed by Blue Cross Blue Shield. She was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy.
Survivors include her husband, Larry E. Price; son, Justin S. Price, Jonathan A. Price, both of Siler City; mother, Mettie Watson of Siler City; sisters, Judy Jasmine of Glen Burnie, MD, Rosa Glover of Sanford; brothers, Leonard Watson, Jr. of San Diego, CA, William Watson of Spring Lake, Clarence Watson, Gerald Watson, Chester Watson, all of Siler City; and three grandchildren.
