TRUMAN DELANO “DEL” DUNCAN, JR.
Truman Delano“Del” Duncan, Jr., 41, of Siler City died Saturday, (11-24-2012).

Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. at Rocky River Baptist Church.

Mr. Duncan was born in Chatham County, April 23, 1971, the son of the late Truman D. Duncan, Sr. and Katherine Faye (Bullins) Staple. He was self-employed in housing construction and paving, and attended Rocky River Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Billy and Myrtis Cooper Duncan.

Survivors include his wife, Ashley Green Duncan of the home; children, Christopher Duncan, Cody Duncan, both of Staley, Taylor Duncan, Tyler Duncan, Torie Duncan, all of the home; mother and step-father, Katherine Faye and Howard Staple of Hallandale Beach, FL; and sister, Crystal D. McMath of Chapel Hill.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 1 p.m. on Thursday, (11-29-2012) at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home.

LOIS ANN GARNER BREWER
Lois Ann Garner Brewer 65, of High Falls died Monday, (11-26-2012).

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, (11-29-2012) at 2 p.m. at High Falls Wesleyan Church with Rev. Roger Riffe and Rev. James Brewer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Brewer was a MooreCounty native, born October 24, 1947 to the late Howard “Doc” Garner and Stella H. Garner. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse Darrell Brewer and her sister, Helen White.

Survivors include daughters, Linda Morgan and Janice Brewer, both of the home; mother, Stella H. Garner of Robbins; sister, Louise Perhealth of Aberdeen; brother, Roger Garner of Robbins; two grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Visitation was held Wednesday, (11-28-2012) from 6-8 pm at Joyce-Brady Chapel.

MALDA ANDREW DAVIS
Malda Andrew Davis, 89, of Siler City, died Friday, November 23, 2012, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

Mrs. Davis was born June 28, 1923, the daughter of Rev. Albert H. and Alma (Teague) Andrew. A native of Alabama, she was a homemaker, a member of Loves Creek Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and served on the Benevolence Committee. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Davis, her brother, Eugene Andrew and her sister, Erma A. Richardson.

Survivors include sons, Ronald K. Davis and wife, Pamdoria of Cameron, Kenny D. Davis and wife, Sherri of Siler City; grandson, Keith Davis and wife, Erin of Sanford, along with step-grandsons, Tracy Gautier and Daniel Gautier of Sanford; special niece, Marilyn Cole of Siler City and special nephew, Gary Richardson and wife, Patsy of Orlando, FL.

The family received friends at 1 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Loves Creek Baptist Church, 1745 East 11th Street, Siler City. Funeral services followed at 2 p.m. with burial in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Loves Creek Baptist Church General Fund or to the Benevolence Committee, 1745 East 11th Street, Siler City, N.C. 27344.

EDWARD H. LaFRANCE
Eddie LaFrance of Pittsboro, 73, died Sunday November 18, 2012, at UNC Hospital.

Eddie had battled many illnesses in recent years with courage, stubbornness, and a great deal of humor.

He leaves behind his partner, companion and best friend of the past 20 years, Ellen Hoosick. He also leaves Ellen’s sister, Sally Bassett and her family, Ellen’s mom, Sally Green, and Ellen’s aunt and uncle Anne and Dick Moore, and his cherished cats, Sammie and Lucy, who he spoiled endlessly.

There will be no service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chatham Habitat for Humanity in Pittsboro, The Goathouse Refuge in Pittsboro, or the UNC Lineberger Cancer Center.

Eddie was always most appreciative of the care he has received during the past three years from the doctors and staff at UNC, including Pittsboro Family Medicine. The kindness of all the staff helped make the many visits much easier.

We are grateful for the exceptionally caring nurses, doctors, and staff at the UNC Memorial Hospital Medical ICU during the last week of his illness.

BRENDA JUANITA KIRK
Mrs. Brenda Juanita Kirk, 62, of 3508 Garden Road, Burlington, died Monday, November 26, 2012 at Alamance Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

A native of Durham County, she was the daughter of the late John Wesley Kirk, Jr. and the late Miriam Juanita Dark Kirk. She was employed with Vanguard Reimbursement Services and a member of Tyson’s Creek Baptist Church in Bear Creek.

Brenda is survived by four sisters, Linda Shaw and husband Howard of Butner, Susan Wood and husband David of Cameron, Phyllis White and husband Lynn of Siler City, Jennifer Toothman of Greensboro; brothers, Ricky Kirk and wife Lynda of Sanford, Randy Kirk of Goldston; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Wesley Kirk.

The family will conduct a private memorial service at a later date.

MARY T. TURNAGE
Snow Hill – Mrs. Mary Thomas Turnage, 84, died Wednesday, November 14, 2012. A native of the Lizzie Community of Greene County, she was born September 15, 1928, the daughter of Roy H. Thomas and Martha Belle Smith Thomas. Mrs. Turnage was a graduate of the Maury High School where she was a star player on the girls basketball team. Following marriage to her late husband, Edwin Arlendo Turnage, they made their home in the Arba Community where she resided until her death. Mrs. Turnage was a member of Hull Road Original Free Will Baptist Church.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, November 17, at the Chapel of Taylor-Tyson funeral service with Reverend Leon Grubbs officiating. A private family committal service will be held later at Snow Hill Cemetery.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Turnage was also preceded in death by her siblings, Hooker Thomas, Mamie T. Marsh, Nathan Thomas, Bill Thomas, Margaret T. Sugg, Lewis Thomas and Dorothy Ann Thomas.

Her surviving family includes her daughters, Susan T. Ferguson of Siler City, Donna T. Adkins and husband, Bill of Cary; grandson, Jeff R. Ferguson of Siler City; sisters, Louise T. Jenkins of Concord, Caroline T. Beddard of Snow Hill, Jean T. Jones of Farmville; sisters-in-law, Sybil J. Thomas of Snow Hill, Jackie C. Thomas of Morehead City, Evelyn Thomas Cole of Farmville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family received friends immediately following the service on Saturday and other times at the Turnage residence. Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Asera Care Hospice, 502 Red Banks Road, Suite B, Greenville, NC 27858.

TIMOTHY MARCHELL GORDON
Timothy Marchell Gordon, 53, of Pittsboro died Friday, (11-09-2012) at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday, (11-17-2012) at Mt.Olive Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. Gordon was the son of the late Auther Dave and Barbara Jean Taylor Gordon.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Snipes Gordon; son, Laperry Snipes; daughter, Shatammy G. Booker; brothers, Clayton Gordon, Danny Gordon, Victor Gordon, Christopher Gordon; sister, Wonda Johnson; and seven grandchildren.

JACKIE SISTRUNK
Jackie Sistrunk, 60 of Sanford died Wednesday, (11-14-2012), at her residence.

Arrangements are pending and will be announced by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home, Inc.

ODELIA LYNN WALDEN
Mrs. Odelia Walden, 53, of Ramseur passed Thursday (11-01-2012) at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.

Funeral services were held Tuesday (11-06-2012) at 2 p.m. at Centennial AME Zion Church with burial in the church cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, John Walden of Ramseur; mother, Lillie Currie of Bear Creek; sisters, Cynthia C. Spruiell, Rosita Reaves, both of Goldston; brothers, Dale E. Currie of Benson, and Kenneth C. Currie of Charlotte.

JIMMIE HOLT
Mr. Jimmie Holt of Sanford, died Friday, (11-16-2012) at his home.

Arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced by Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home.

DAPHNE MARIE FORSTER
Daphne Marie Forster, age 38, died October 10, 2012. She was born February 17, 1974.

Rev. Chance Walters conducted a private memorial service Sunday, November 11, 2012, on the grounds of the Bennie and Trudy Walters’ home. The service ended with a balloon release and the reading of a poem written by Daphne’s great-grandmother, Mattie C. Burke, in 1945.

Daphne is survived by her mother and step-father, Linda Forster and Bill Walters of Siler City; father, Jerome Lee Forster of Albany, Oregon; sister and brother-in-law, Andy and Dean Smith of Siler City; sister, Cindy Miller of Keizer, Oregon and numerous relatives and friends.

Daphne attended South Albany High School in Albany, Oregon and Mt. Hood Community College in Portland, Oregon. She served in the United States Navy for two years. Daphne was a world traveler and loved by her family and friends for her “free spirit”. She was an accomplished snowboarder and skateboarder.

JUDITH PAISLEY COLLINS
Judith Johnson Paisley Collins, 83, of 101 South Third Avenue, Siler City died Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Village Lake Inn of Siler City.

Mrs. Collins was born in Randolph County on January 3, 1929, the daughter of Robert and Millicent (Trogdon) Johnson. Judy was a retired teller supervisor with The Bank of Randolph and Wachovia Bank. She was a member of Piney Grove United Methodist Church, the Adult Sunday School Class and a member of the Dig and Dream Garden Club. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Paisley and Payne Collins.

She is survived by one son, Mike Paisley and wife, Kim of Clayton, NC; step-sons, Ronnie Collins and wife, Denise of Siler City, Randy Collins and wife, Kathy of Pittsboro; step-grandsons, Matthew Collins, Jacob Collins and wife, Rosanna.

A graveside service was held Monday, November 19, 2012 at 10 a.m. at West Bend United Methodist Church, 1080 Albemarle Road, Asheboro, NC. A memorial service was held Monday, November 19, 2012 at 11:30 AM at Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 2343 Piney Grove Church Road, Siler City with Rev. Jim Folks officiating. The family received friends after the service in the fellowship hall for a luncheon.

The family requested that food contributions be directed to the church rather than the home.

Memorials may be made to Piney Grove United Methodist Church, 2343 Piney Grove Church Road, Siler City, NC 27344.

Smith & Buckner Funeral Home assisted the family.

FAYE C. WARD
Faye Cain Ward, 69, of Ramseur, died Monday, 11-05-12 at her residence.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Friday, (11-09-2012), at the Ward Family Cemetery with Rev. John Gunter and Rev. Mark Wilburn officiating.

Mrs. Ward was a native of Randolph County and a farmer. She was preceded in death by her father, Paul Cain.

Surviving is her husband, Philip Ward, of the home; sons, Dr. Neil Ward of Robbins, Bill Ward of Ramseur; mother, Hattie Lois Cain Staley of Ramseur; brother, David Cain of Ramseur; and three grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph County, PO Box 9, Asheboro, NC 27204.

JESSE RAY “BUCK” HOLDER
Jesse Ray “Buck” Holder, 75 of Sanford died Wednesday, (11-07-2012), at Central Carolina Hospital.

Funeral services were held Sunday, (11-11-2012), at 3 p.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church with Rev. Russell Blackmon and Chaplain Joel Cameron officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mr. Holder was born August 30, 1937 in Harnett County to the late Archibald Thomas Holder and Elsie Lee Cummings Holder. A brother, Neal Edward Holder also predeceased him. He was a retired public works employee with the City of Sanford.

Survivors include his wife, Janice Carter Holder and brother, Gene Thomas Holder of Mamers.

Memorials may be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 5422 St. Andrews Church Road, Sanford, N.C. 27332.

JAMES HORTON SEAGROVES
James Horton Seagroves, 75, of Sanford died Sunday, (11-11-2012) at Central Carolina Hospital.

A graveside service will be held Wednesday, (11-14-2012), at 2 p.m. at Farmville Cemetery with Eugene Ussery presiding.

Mr. Seagroves was born in Chatham County on February 2, 1937 to the late William Wharton Seagroves and Mary Jeffers Seagroves. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers Joe, Ed, Frankie, Charles Seagroves and a sister, Irene Patterson.

Surviving relatives are sons, Jamie Seagroves of Sanford, Kenny Seagroves of Connelly Springs; brother, Larry Seagroves of Goldston; sisters, Marie Macko and Libby Wilmoth, both of Sanford, Frances Braswell and Margie Rubin, both of Carthage; and five grandchildren.
