EDDIE GLENN MURCHISON

Eddie Glenn Murchison, 66, of Snow Camp died Monday, May 5, 2008 at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill. Mr. Murchison was born February 24, 1942 the son of Malcolm Glenn and Daisy (Teague) Murchison.

Mr. Murchison was a native of Alamance County and a retired farmer. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church and a graduate of Sylvan High School. Eddie attended NC State University and was an active member of the Silk Hope Ruritan Club.

He is survived by his wife Mary Lindley Murchison; one daughter, Jennifer M. Wilson and husband, Brian of Graham; two sons, Chris Murchison and wife, Sally of Siler City, David Murchison and wife, Nikki of Siler City; one

brother: Gary Murchison of Liberty; grandchildren, Mark Christopher Murchison, Jr., Samuel Glenn Murchison, Isaac Neil Wilson, Mary Grace Murchison, Matthew Wade Murchison, Sophia Nicole Murchison and Reese Isabella Wilson.

The family received friends Wednesday, May 7, 2008 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City. The funeral will be at 3 p.m.

Thursday, May 8, 2008 at Pleasant Hill Christian Church, 1712 Pleasant Hill-Liberty Road, Liberty with Rev. Howard Spray, Rev. David Hobson and Rev. Herbert Lowry, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Silk Hope Ruritan Building Fund, % Tom Smith, 394 Hopehills Drive, Siler City, NC 27344.

QUAYNE P. CHILTON

Quayne P. Chilton, 67, of Bennett died Sunday, May 4, 2008 at his home.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Maple Springs United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Heilman and Rev. Mark Strickland officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Chilton was a Chatham County native, a 1958 graduate of Bennett High School and attended St. Andrews Presbyterian College. He was an Air Force Veteran having served in Viet-Nam. Mr. Chilton was retired from Glendale Hosiery and also retired from farming, and was a member of Pleasant Grove Christian Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Debra Corder Chilton and his parents, Graham R. and Wilma Phillips Chilton.

Survivors include a sister, Gaye C. Trotter and husband Charles of Bennett; brother, Billy Chilton and wife Joan of Bennett; nephews, David Chilton of Asheboro and Mike Trotter of Hoffman; and a niece, Cheryl Scott of Bentenville, Ark.

The family was at Joyce-Brady Chapel in Bennett on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and other times at the Billy Chilton residence in Bennett.

JAMES RUSSELL RACHEL

James Russell Rachel, 83, of Siler City, passed away Sunday, May 4, 2008 at SunBridge Nursing Center.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2007 at Oakley Baptist Church in Siler City, with burial following in the church cemetery.

Mr. Rachel was born in Randolph County to the late Jim and Mamie Caviness Rachel. He was a U. S. Army veteran and retired from the poultry industry.

He was a member of Oakley Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Brotherhood. Mr. Rachel loved to fish and garden. He was devoted to his wife of 56 years, his children, and his grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Brown.

Mr. Rachel is survived by his wife, Annie Ruth Clark Rachel; daughters, Judy and husband, Roger White, Debbie and husband, Rick Fields, Donna and husband, Dennis Andrews, all of Siler City; brothers, Jessie Rachel of Siler City, Lynn Rachel of Greensboro; one sister, Wanna Mae Fields of Bonlee; grandchildren, Jamie White, Adam Fields, Allison Andrews and Ashley Andrews.

Visitation was held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Smith & Buckner, other times at the home of Dennis and Donna Andrews, 20212 Highway 64 West, Siler City.

Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to the Oakley Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2300 Siler City-Glendon Road, Siler City, NC 27344

MARY McDOWELL HUGHES

Mary McDowell Hughes, 96, of Siler City died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Sykes officiating. Burial followed at 3:30 p.m. at Guilford Memorial Park in Greensboro.

Mrs. Hughes was a native of Randolph County. She attended First United Methodist Church of Siler City and Vandalia Presbyterian Church in Greensboro. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Hughes; two sons, Ted Hughes and Tommy Hughes; a granddaughter, Ginger Hughes and a great-grandson, Nicky Hughes.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Betty Jones Hughes of Siler City; special niece, Brenda Henley of Greensboro; seven grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held at 1 p.m., one hour prior to the service, Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at the Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City.

BOBBY LEE LINDLEY

Bobby Lee Lindley, 71, of Siler City died Saturday, May 3, 2008 at the Chatham Hospital, Inc.

Celebration of Life services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Rocky River Baptist Church with Rev. Gregg Burriss and Rev. David Hobson officiating.

Mr. Lindley was a native of Chatham County. He had worked for Orange Builders in Chapel Hill, was a very active member of the Ruritan Club in Silk Hope and a member of South Fork Friends Meeting.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel Covert Lindley of Siler City; mother, Elsie Moon Lindley of Pittsboro; daughter, Sharon Lindley Bowers and husband Nelson of Pittsboro; son, Jamie Covert Lindley of Siler City; step-son, Tony Gordon Wright and wife Diane of Siler City; step-daughter, Tammy Wright Bass and husband Keith of Wilson; sister, Elaine Lebuhn of New Providence, NJ; nephew, Jason Lindley Woody of Old Greenwich, CT; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family received friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall.

ROY LEE “TOMMY” BLACKMON
Roy Lee Blackmon, 71, of Cameron, died Saturday, (11-24-2012) at his home.

The funeral was held Monday, (11-26-2012), at New Life Fellowship Church at 2 p.m. with Pastor Gail Dickens and Pastor Elmer Parker officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Mr. Blackmon was born to the late Roy Blackmon and Mary Parker Blackmon in Harnett County. A self-employed painter, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bessie Ammons.

Survivors include his wife, Elaine Bowman Blackmon of the home; sons; Roy Lee Blackmon, Jr. of Aberdeen, Kevin Wayne Blackmon of Cameron, Thomas Manley Blackmon of Carthage; brother, Donald Blackmon of Carthage; sisters, Mattie Wilson of South Carolina, Lois Douglas and Frances Blackmon, both of Sanford, Jean Furr of Hope Mills, Kay Blackmon of Erwin; and four grandchildren.

ELLEN STEWART TYNER
Mrs. Ellen Stewart Tyner, 97, of Sanford died Saturday at Central Carolina Hospital.

The funeral was held Monday, (11-26-2012) at Spring Hill United Methodist Church at 3 p.m. with Rev. Terry Williams officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Rd., Sanford, NC.

She was born in Harnett County, to the late William Murchison Stewart and Elizabeth Jane Wicker Stewart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Landis Tyner; grandson, Bryan Stewart Tyner and several brothers and sisters.

She was a member of Spring Hill United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of East Carolina University and taught school for 42 years in Lee, Harnett and Chatham County Schools. She taught Sunday School for many years and reading classes at Central Carolina Community College.

She is survived by sons, Harold Nichols Tyner of Dunn, Landis Stewart Tyner of Broadway;. brothers, C. P. Stewart of Mamers, Edwin B. Stewart of Burlington; sister, Joyce Johnson of Mamers; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great, great-grandchild.

RONNIE G. TROGDON
Ronnie G. Trogdon, 64, of Siler City died Wednesday, (11-21-2012) at his residence.

Graveside services were held Sunday, (11-25-2012) at 3 p.m. at Edward Hill Friends Meeting, with Linda Green officiating.

Mr. Trogdon was born in Chatham County on October 2, 1948, the son of Guy Virgil and Sadie (Jones) Trogdon. He was a member of Edward Hill Friends Meeting where he was a member of the choir and had served as Sunday School Superintendent. Ronnie had been employed by WNCA Radio. He was preceded in death by his parents.

JAMES ROBERT “SONNY” WELCH
Mr. James Robert “Sonny” Welch 70, of Bennett, passed away Monday, (11-19-2012) at Chatham Hospital.

Funeral services were held Friday, (11-23-2012) at 2 p.m at Joyce-Brady Chapel, with Rev. Tim Strider officiating. Burial followed at Mt. Zion UMC Cemetery.

Mr. Welch was a Chatham County native and worked in the poultry industry.

Survivors include daughters, Sherry Welch of the home, Sandra Stanley of Asheboro, six grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

OLA NADINE JAMES MANESS
Ola Nadine James Maness, 69, of Robbins, died Monday, (11-19-2012).

Funeral services were conducted Thursday at 11 a.m. at Joyce-Brady Chapel in Bennett with Rev. Edwin Moore, and Rev. Ralph Voncannon. Burial followed in Maness Family Cemetery at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church in Robbins.

Nadine was born to William Boyd James and Mary Ruth Beal James, March 24, 1943. She attended Bennett High School.

She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Maness of the home; son, Wayne Maness of Robbins; two grandchildren; mother, Mary Ruth Brewer of Siler City; sisters, Rose Parker of Sanford, and Irene Tillman of Goldston.

JIMMY DORSEY GRIFFITH
Jimmy Dorsey Griffith, 71, of Siler City died Saturday, (11-24-2012) at Chatham Hospital.

Mr. Griffith was born December 7, 1940, the son of Homer Earl and Margie (Meade) Griffith. A native of Logan County West Virginia, he was a carpenter and served in the Army during the Korean Conflict.

He is survived by sisters, Margo Cleland of Siler City, Freda Swan of Columbus, OH, Mary Swisher of Gallipolis, OH; and brother, Homer Griffith, Jr. of Springfield, OH.

ROBERT GUTHRIE KENNEDY
Robert Guthrie Kennedy, 74, of Sanford died Sunday, (11-25-2012), at his home.

The funeral was held Wednesday, (11-28-2012), at 2 p.m. at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplin Darrell Harris presiding. The burial followed at New Home Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Kennedy was born in Moore County, November 27, 1937, to the late Wilbur Wright Kennedy and Bessie Mae Oldham Kennedy. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Beverly Kay Kennedy and a brother James Wilbur Kennedy.

He is survived by his wife Nancy Hall Kennedy of the home; daughters, Nancy Jo Matthews, Neena Carol Miller, both of Sanford, Robin Annette Dowd of Raleigh; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

ANGELINA HAYES
Ms. Angelina Hayes, 48, of Moncure died Friday (11-16-2012) at her home.

Funeral services were held Tuesday (11-20-2012) at 11 a.m. at Pittsboro Presbyterian Church with Rev. Troy Thomas officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Survivors include son, Jalen Smith; daughter, Teanna Smith, both of Pittsboro; mother, Geraldine Hayes DeGraffenreidt of Pittsboro; father, Edward Hayes of Goldston; sisters, Sabrina McKendall of Sanford, Sherlene Brooks of Goldston, Evette Fairley of Charlotte; brothers, Everett Hayes of Mebane and Tony Hayes of Sanford.
