Newel H. Smith Jr.
Newel H. Smith Jr., 59, of Wendell, died Saturday, June 11, 2005, at Brian Nursing Center in Durham, due to complications of a brain aneurysm. Memorial service was Saturday, June 18, at Mitchell Funeral Home chapel, Raleigh.
Born April 16, 1946, in Raleigh, he was the son of the late Newel H. and Audrey Womble Smith. He was employed with Loomis-Fargo for some time, recently as a supervisor.
Surviving: wife of 24 years, Susan Clark Smith; son, Devin Newel Smith of Raleigh; sister, Barbara Cole and husband Randall of Fort Payne, Ala.; nephew, Jeffrey Cole; other family and friends.
Memorials may be made to the Newel H. Smith Jr. Fund, 1039 Lakeshore Drive, Wendell 27591, to benefit his son.

Raymond Wesley May, 88, of Louisburg, died Saturday, June 11, 2005, at UNC Medical Center in Chapel Hill. funeral service was Tuesday, June 14, at Lancaster Funerals and Cremations chapel, Louisburg. Entombment was in Lancaster Memorial Park Mausoleum.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances T. May; and brothers, Chase and Rufus May.
Surviving: sister, Erma M. Sikes of Durham; special niece, Ruth T. Smith of Louisburg; niece, Daphene Goodwin of Durham; nephews, Curtis Sikes of Durham, Wesley Sikes and Walter Sikes, both of New Hill; special friend, Blanche Lewis of Wendell.

Henry C. Vohwinkel, 70, of Rolesville, died Sunday June 5, 2005, at his residence. He was born in Erie County, N.Y. the son of the late Margaret Teloh Vohwinkel and Henry J. Vohwinkel.
A mass of the resurrection was be held Wednesday, June 8, at St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Carole Pempsell Vohwinkel; daughters, Karen Gillogly and husband, James of Mansfield, Mass., Lynn Asbell and husband, Hardy of Rolesville; son, David Vohwinkel and wife, Dawn of Rolesville; sisters, Mary Ann Kutter of Corfu, N.Y., Josephine Kolb of Detroit, Mich.; brother, Charles Vohwinkel of Hamburg, N.Y.; grandchildren, Jeff, Chris, Evan, Megan, Elisabeth and Sara.

Anne Marie Fishburn
Anne Marie Fishburn of Raleigh died on Wednesday, June 8, 2005, after a 12-year-long battle against cancer. A memorial service was held on Sunday, June 12, at Millbrook Baptist Church in Raleigh. A private burial of her ashes will take place at a later time at the family's farm in Virginia.
She was born in Albany, Ga., at Turner Air Force Base.
Surviving: two daughters, Stacey Fishburne Vernon and Kelly Fishburne Vernon, both of the home; mother, Kitty Lemon Dawson, of Greensboro; father, E. Ritchie Fishburne, and his wife, Teenie L. Fishburne, of Greensboro; brothers, Chip Fishburne and wife Cindy of Alpharetta, Ga., Keith L. Fishburne and wife Michelle of Wendell, Eddie Fishburne and wife Kelly of Raleigh; and one nephew, one niece, and many cousins. She is also survived by her lifelong friend Betty Nixon Morgan of Greensboro.
