Lelon Vester Boykin, 65, of Zebulon, died Saturday, February 26, 2005, at Rex Healthcare. funeral service was Tuesday, March 1, at Branch Chapel Free Will Baptist Church. Burial was at Selma Memorial Gardens.
Born Oct. 7, 1939, he was a son of the late Royal Vester and Beatrice Eason Boykin.
Surviving: wife, Edna Warren Boykin; daughters, Deborah Boykin of Raleigh, Donna B. Higgins and husband Linwood of Smithfield, Connie Boykin of Zebulon; grandchildren, Charles Lelon Caudle, Crystal Higgins, Lisa Caudle.

Michael R. DeRose
Michael R. DeRose, 76, of Durham, died Monday, February 21, 2005.
Born in Newark, N.J., he served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1951. He was a self-employed business owner for most of his life. He retired and moved to Raleigh in 1998. He was predeceased by his son, James DeRose.
Surviving: sisters, Genevieve Carlo of New Jersey, Virginia Nesta of Connecticut; children, Michele, Michael and Stephen DeRose, all of North Carolina; five grandchildren.

Katherine Overby Shearin
Katherine Overby Shearin, 85, of Rocky Mount, died Thursday, February 24, 2005. Memorial service was Friday, February 25, at Bowling Funeral Home chapel, Rocky Mount.
She was born June 25, 1919, in Nash County, daughter of the late Malvin Thomas Overby and Pearl Vick Overby. She was a member of Falls Road Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Lee Shearin; and sister, Arlene Morris.
Surviving: daughters, Sue S. Shearin of Goldsboro, Harriet S. Brown of Rocky Mount; brother, Robert Overby of Knightdale; sisters, Annie Pearl Cook of Rocky Mount, Mary Ann Proctor of Nashville; grandchildren, Meredith Brown, Thad and Zack Shearin.

Farris Robinson
Farris Robinson, 77, of Raleigh, died Thursday, February 24, 2005, at Blue Ridge Health Care in Raleigh. At his request, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
A native of Paint Lick, Ky., he was born Sept. 30, 1927, the son of the late Thurston Robinson and Maggie Wilson Robinson. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a qualified naval submariner. He and his family transferred to Raleigh from Lexington, Ky., in 1965. He retired from IBM in 1986 and worked with the Pines of Carolina Girl Scout Council from 1986-1993. He was a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by daughters, Belinda June Robinson, 1 year old, and Johanna Ruth Robinson, 29 years old; and sister, Ora Mae Yoshida.
Surviving: wife, Jewel D. Robinson of the home; son, Andrew Hal Robinson of Raleigh; daughters, Paula Robinson DeLong of Bunn, Carmen Robinson Newman of Wake Forest; brothers, Douglas, Bob, Dale and Larry Robinson; sisters, Virginia Dollins, Margie Wilder, Lou Jones, Faye English; three grandchildren.

Edith 'Elaine' Talley Cutchins of Wendell died peacefully Wednesday, February 23, 2005. funeral service was Saturday, February 26, at Massey Funeral Home chapel, Zebulon. Burial was at Zebulon Cemetery.
She was born Aug. 29, 1938. She was formerly of Louisburg and lived in Wendell for the last 26 years.

Jack Weathersby, 78, of Kenly, died Thursday, February 24, 2005. funeral service was Saturday, February 26, at Massey Funeral Home chapel, Zebulon. Entombment was at Zebulon Cemetery.
He was a retired farmer, former representative for Harmon Volkswagen for 14 years and an independent car dealer for many years. He was preceded in death by his parents, T.C. Weathersby and Ida M. Weathersby; and sisters, Louise Stewart and Carrie Brandenburge.
Surviving: wife of 57 years, Jean B. Weathersby of the home; son, Jackie Weathersby and wife Joyce of Raleigh; grandson, Brad Weathersby and wife Jaime of Raleigh; sisters, Mable Price of Spring Hope, Coleta Davenport of Zebulon, Barbara Darr of Garner; brother, John Weathersby of Spring Hope.
Lt. Michael Rodney Boykin
Lt. Michael Rodney Boykin, 37, of Middlesex, died Saturday, February 26, 2005. funeral service will be Friday, March 4, at 11 a.m. at Zebulon Baptist Church. Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Middlesex.
He was born March 14, 1967. He was a member of White Stone Masonic Lodge No. 155 AF&AM.; He was a police officer for 15 years and served with the Zebulon Police Department for the past 13 years. He was preceded in death by his brother, Tim Boykin, in 1976; and his father, Eugene Boykin.
Surviving: wife, Kim Boykin of the home; mother and stepfather, Sue and Bill Lamm of Middlesex; grandmother, Robenia Whitley of Middlesex; daughters, Christina Boykin and Lauren Boykin, both of the home; stepsister, Marsha Boykin of Middlesex; half sister, Sue Ann Culvahouse of Wilson; aunts, Evelyn Davis and husband Dwight, and Ruth Strickland and husband Jerry, all of Middlesex; uncles, Carroll Whitley and wife Nancy of Middlesex, Randy Whitley and wife Pam of Clinton; one niece; several cousins.
