Jan Lee Carroll

Jan Lee Carroll, 60, resident of Mount Olive, passed away Sunday, April 22, 2018, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Jan was born icon in Mount Olive to the late William R. “Bill" and Jane Terry Lee.

Her family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 25 from 6 to 8 PM. There will be no other service.

Jan is survived by her son, Lewis Carroll; daughter, Courtney Lane; grandchildren, Kaylyn Lane, Cole Lane Jax Lane, and their father, Dougie Lane; her brother, William R. “Billy” Lee, Jr.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, John Kennan Carroll; and sister, Terry Lee Taylor.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the funeral home to assist with expenses would be appreciated.

Debra Paige Odom

Debra Paige Odom, 66, of Mount Olive, passed away unexpectedly Thursday morning, April 19, 2018, at her home. Debbie, as she was known by most, was the daughter of the late Ray and Margaret Jones Odom.

The family will be receiving friends at the home of Dennis and Heather Puckett, Johnson Street, Mount Olive. A private gathering to share thoughts and memories about Debbie will be held for the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Wayne County Humane Society (104 South Center Street, Goldsboro NC 27530), or Steele Memorial Library (119 West Main Street, Mount Olive, NC 28365).

Debbie had been employed at Mt. Olive Pickle Company, then at Mount Olive Retirement Village, and lastly as a in-home caregiver.

She is survived by her son, Ronnie Cloud of Goldsboro; daughter and son-in-law, Heather D. and Dennis Puckett of Mount Olive; brother, Leland R. Odom of Mount Olive; five grandchildren, Ray Puckett, Arason Puckett, Candice Heath, Amber Heath, and Ashley Heath; three great-grandchildren, Jaheim Hewitt, Grayson Heath, and Ava Gerringer; and a dear cousin, Annie Frances Kornegay of Mount Olive.

in addition to her parents, Debbie was preceded in death by brother Leland's wife, Amy Blair.

Jack M. Webb
November 28, 1933 - January 9, 2018

The Rev. Jack Martin Webb, 84, died Tuesday, January 9, 2018 at the home he shared with his daughter and son in law at Mount Olive, N.C. in the Rones Chapel community.

He was a retired Assemblies of God minister having served as clergyman in Oregon and California, and had been a missionary in Alaska.

Preceded in death by his wife, Tanya Malcom Webb, and eldest son, David Malcom Webb.

Survived by three children and spouses, John William and Verna Webb, and Timothy James and Paula Webb, all of the Dalles, Oregon, and Melody W. and Larry Burch of Mount Olive, NC; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren.

Private services are to be held.

Earl Dwight Brock
October 30, 1946 - January 11, 2018

Earl Dwight Brock, 71, of the Brock's Chapel section near Mount Olive, passed away at the Kitty Askins Hospice Center Thursday afternoon, January 11, 2018.

Mr. Brock is survived by his daughter, Crystal Brock Quinn with husband, Jody, of Mount Olive; his grandchildren, Zachary Quinn with companion, Ally Brown, and Meranda Quinn with companion, Brandon Strickland, and great-grandchildren, Addison and Grayson Strickland, all of the Mount Olive area; his step-mother, Nancy K. Brock of Mount Olive, along with her family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Earl Brock and Thelma Winders Brock; and a step-brother, Pete Vinson.

Dwight's early adulthood began with a tour of service with the United States Air Force including a deployment in Vietnam. Upon his return home, he was employed as a police officer with Mount Olive Police Department, and also served as volunteer member of Mount Olive Rescue Squad. Eventually he left Mount Olive for Maryland and gained employment as a truck driver. Later, when he returned to Mount Olive, he was employed by Bob Hines Trucking Co. His last career opportunity was that of becoming a licensed bail bondsman, and co-owning and operating, along with partner and close family friend, Mike McCall of Goldsboro, the Universal Surety Services of Kenansville.

Graveside services and inurnment will be Monday, January 15, at 2 p.m. in Maplewood Cemetery, Mount Olive. Pastor Jeff Dail will officiate. The family asks those who may wish to make a memorial donation to consider Kitty Askins Hospice, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro NC 27534.

Virginia Smith Williams
October 17, 1930 - November 25, 2017

Virginia Smith Williams, 206 West James Street, Mount Olive, was born icon October 17, 1930 to parents, Robert F. Smith and Lorena Perry Smith in Mount Olive, N.C. She passed away November 25, 2017 at home.

Virginia attended Mount Olive Elementary School and Mount Olive High School, and graduated cum laude from Wake Forest College in 1952. She attended graduate school, earning a degree in Exceptional Children's Education. She taught in the Wayne and Duplin County schools for 29 years, retiring in 1991.

She and her husband, Clyde A. Williams were married in 1952, and resided in Mount Olive all their lives, he being the owner of Clyde Williams Chevrolet, Inc. until he sold the business in 1984.

Virginia was very active in the Mount Olive Presbyterian Church all her life, teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, and serving on many committees. She was a member of and officer of the Twentieth Century Club (literary), Mount Olive Travel Club, the Carolina Patriots DAR Chapter, the Red Hat Club, the Southern Wayne Country Club, and Goldsboro Country Club. Her favorite charity was the Duke Cancer Center, having survived three forms of cancer with their treatment.

She is survived by her daughters, Molly W. Holler of Goldsboro, N.C., and Laura W. Fairman and husband, Donald C. Fairman, of Winter Park, Fla.; grandchildren, Nicholas W. Fairman and Katheryn B. Fairman of Fla.; and nephews, Frank Wilson and Matt Wilson.

Special thanks is extended to caregivers Denise Prince, Fran Moore, Lauren Moore, Dean Coates, and Elsie Swinson, for their untiring care and support.

Memorial donations may be made to Duke University Cancer Center, Duke Cancer Institute, Office of Development, DUMC 3828, Durham, NC 27710.

The life of Mrs. Virginia Williams will be celebrated in a graveside service to be held Wednesday, November 29, at 2 p.m. in the Maplewood Cemetery, Mount Olive. Her pastor, the Rev. Steven Wicks will officiate.

Thomas Lyle Robinson
February 10, 1974 - January 4, 2018

Thomas Lyle Robinson, 43, of the Scott's Store community near Mount Olive, died Thursday, January 4, 2018 at his home.

Mr. Robinson, called Tommy by most, was employed as a diesel mechanic with Eugene Pearsall Trucking Co. of Faison. An outdoorsman by nature, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, going camping, and grilling, and he enjoyed working, for he worked hard all the time.

Survivors include his wife, Lee Ann Robinson; daughter, Lynsey Rouse of the home; son, Christopher Casey of Mount Olive; two grandchildren, Hailey Casey and Jackson Casey; his mother, Paula Lujan of Mount Olive; and seven siblings.

A son, Brandon Michael Casey, preceded him in death in 2015.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 9, at 2:00 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home with burial following in the Brandon Casey Memorial Garden at the home. Presiding will the the Reverend Ashley Summerlin. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Monday, January 8, from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.

George Ray Summerlin
May 31, 1955 - January 5, 2018

George Ray Summerlin, 62, Dudley area resident, passed away Friday afternoon, January 5, at Kitty Askins Hospice.

His family will hold visitation at Tyndall Funeral Home in Mount Olive on Tuesday, January 9, from 6 until 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 10, at 2 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home with the Rev. Lee Britt and the Rev. Ashley Summerlin officiating, followed by burial at Wayne Memorial Park. At other times, the family welcomes friends to the residence on Fulton Road, Dudley.

George Ray had served in the United States Army, had been employed at Georgia-Pacific Corporation in the Chip-n-Saw divisision, and had been a long distance truck driver.

He is survived by his three children, Stacey Summerlin Capps of Mount Olive, Joshua Summerlin of Washington state, and Sarah Summerlin of Princeton; two grandchildren, Tyler Summerlin and Jacksyn Capps; his parents, George and Kathleen Overton Summerlin of Dudley; his maternal grandmother, Martha Overton of Mount Olive; a brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Fran Summerlin of Goldsboro; and a niece, April Summerlin Thigpen of Goldsboro.

A brother, Ricky Summerlin, preceded him in death.

Billie Jean Price Jones
August 28, 1936 - December 3, 2017

Mrs. Billie Jean Price Jones, 81, of 407 Steele Street, Mount Olive, passed away Sunday morning, December 3, 2017 at home.

Graveside services will be held Monday, December 4, at 3 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with entombment to follow.

Family and friends are being received at the residence.

Mrs. Jones was a retired teacher at Mount Olive Christian Academy and had previously been employed at Creative Cottage Daycare in Mount Olive. She also, for many years, had assisted her husband in the operation of Bill's Body Repair in Mount Olive. She worshipped at Mount Olive Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She is survived by a daughter, Dean Jones Dunn of Mount Olive; a son and daughter-in-law Robin and Teresa Jones of Mount Olive; a sister, Hilda Price Cotton of Goldsboro; three brothers, Warren Price of Raleigh, Linwood Price of Mount Olive, and Carlton Price of Goldsboro; three grandchildren, Brooks Jones, Stephanie Miller, and Summer Welty; great-grandchildren, Payson Crawford, Cora Crawford, Miranda Miller, Raylan Jones, Cheyenne Jones; step great grandchildren, Mathieu Welty and Makinnely Wielty; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. "Bill" Jones; her parents, David and Samantha Lane Price; a brother, Kenneth Price; and a sister, Lovie Price Holloman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to Mount Olive Pentecostal Holiness Church, 130 Ed Edmundson Road, Mount Olive, NC 28365.
