Ms. Lunette Ennis Cook
Lunette Ennis Cook, 89, of 814 Curtis Drive, died Wednesday, January 28, 2004. She was born
April 14, 1914 to the late Jim and Callie Ennis and grew up on her family farm in Johnston County. She departed this world in the presence of a brilliant sunrise and surrounded by her loving family. A devoted wife and mother, she will be greatly missed by her family.
A celebration of her life was held on Saturday, January 31 at Providence Presbyterian Church in Angier. She is buried in the church cemetery.
Ms. Cook is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jack Cook; daughters Peggy Langdon and husband, Shep, of Charlotte, Judy Crowder and husband, Kenny of Clayton and Annette L. Jay and husband Eddie Jay of Garner; sons Larry Langdon and wife, Linda, of Garner and Andy Cook and wife, Mary, also of Garner; 11 grandchildren; six great grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.

Ms. Willa Stephens Pasquali
Ms. Willa Stephens Pasquali, 46, of 133 Marianna Place, formerly of Woodbridge, N.J., died Sunday, February 1, 2004.
A graveside service was held Tuesday, February 3, 2004 at Oakwood Cemetery.
Ms. Pasquali is survived by a daughter, Jackie Pasquali, of the home; parents, John and Diana Silvia of Garner; sisters, Mary Petersen of Raleigh, Karen Morriston of Ocean City, N.J., Ella McLaughlin of Rahway, N.J. and Laura Mastic and husband, Paul, of Raleigh.
The family would like to thank Dr. Kenneth Zeitler and his staff for the compassionate and loving care given to Willa.

William A. Bill Jones, Jr.
William A. “Bill” Jones, Jr. 79, died early Sunday, March 7, 2004 at Rex Healthcare.
Mr. Jones was born
September 5, 1924 in Wake County to the late William Atlas Jones, Sr. and Eliza Mitchell Jones. Bill, or W. A. as many knew him, participated in many community and private organizations. He served on the Board of Directors for the YRAC Fire Department, served as a County Representative for Wake County Fire Departments, also served as an Auxiliary Police Officer for the Town of Cary, and was a member of the Eastern North Carolina Traffic Club for 43 years. Mr. Jones worked as a sales representative for several trucking companies in the area, and also worked for many years in the clothing business. He served his church as an usher and a Sunday school teacher for 20 years.
A funeral service was held Wednesday, March 10 at Greenwood Forest Baptist Church. He is buried at Raleigh Memorial Park.
Surviving: his wife of 54 years, Mary Elizabeth Jones; sons, Craig Jones and his wife, Pam of Henderson, Terry Jones and his wife, Beth of Wake Forest; grandchildren, Dustinof Chapel Hill, Jamie, Noelle and Braxton all of Wake Forest, Megh ann Moore of Apex, Merri Gray, Steven and Leah all of Henderson, brother, Charlie Jones of Garner a host of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers; William, Lester, and Wallace and his sister; Ruby.

Gordon Wayne Heckman
Retired Master Sergeant 1st Class Gordon Wayne “Jim” Heckman passed away on March 6, 2004, surrounded by friends and family. Mr. Heckman served 25 years in the US Army as a Military Policeman, and worked in Garner and downtown Raleigh as a career counselor. After his retirement, he founded Raleigh Renovations with his son, and in 1995, relocated to Sanford. Mr. Heckman loved gardening, fishing, cooking, and spending time with his family and friends. He was an active member in The Buckhorn United Methodist Church in Corinth and, most recently, he was a member of Brookstone United Methodist Church in Pfafftown, both from which he and his family received unwavering loving support, prayers and fellowship during his extended illness.
Known by many as "The Silver Fox", Jim is survived by his loving family: wife Kay Stewart Heckman of Winston-Salem; two daughters, Pam and husband Scott Lewis of Middlesex, North Carolina, Kim and husband Ronald Beasley of Cleveland School Community, North Carolina; one son, Gordon Wayne "Jimmy" Heckman, II and wife Gina of Benson, North Carolina; and, two stepsons of Winston-Salem, Doug Stewart, wife Alicia and children and Greg Stewart, wife Jennifer, and children; grandchildren Brook Jones, Heather Deans, Coty Wayne Heckman, and Nicole Beasley; and, great-grandson Hunter Jones. He is also survived by two sisters and four brothers and was preceded in death by two sisters.
A memorial service was held March 8, 2004 at Brookstone United Methodist Church, 6274 Yadkinville Rd, Pfafftown, North Carolina 27040, on Monday March 8, 2004 at 1:00 p.m.

Gladys M. Cox
Gladys M. Cox. 59, of 1509 Axum Road, passed on March 5, 2004 at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
A funeral service was held March 9 New Providence Missionary Baptist Church. She is buried in the church cemetery.
Her survivors include a son, Michael Umphrey, and wife Sherry of Durham; a brother, Gollon Umphrey, Jr. of Garner; a sister, Vivian Allen of Florida; and three grandchildren.

Hattie Pearl Deville
Hattie Pearl Deville passed away March 9, 2004 in Raleigh.
Ms. Deville worked for 27 years for North Carolina State University, and retired as a program assistant from the Graphics Department in September of 2000.
A service was held for Ms. Deville Saturday, March 13, 2004 at Chappells Funeral Home in Garner.
A Celebration of Life Service was Sunday, March 14 at First Baptist Church in Apex. Pastor Dr. Joseph E. Perkins officiated the ceremony.
Survivors to cherish her memories: daughters, Rosalyn Eagleton, and husband Jermone of Garner, Margaret Price of Dublin, GA, Anita Jones Lane and husband Ulysses of Lillington, Cynthia Newkirk of Raleigh; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Retired Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Walter Thompson and wife Linda of Goldsboro, Luther Thompson, Jr. of Apex; a host of other relatives and friends.

William “Bill” Joseph Oliver
William "Bill" Joseph Oliver, 62, of 174 Kirby Grange Ave., Bath, died in the Pitt Memorial Hospital on Thursday, May 6, 2004.
A memorial service was held 3 p.m. Sunday, May 9, 2004 at the Bath Christian Church with Rev. Curtis White officiating. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall of the Bath Christian Church on Saturday evening from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and other times at the home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be sent to one of the following: The Partnership for the Sounds, P.O. Box 55, Columbia, N.C. 27925, The Pamlico-Tar River Foundation, P.O. Box 1854, Washington, NC 27889, the Boys and Girls Homes of North Carolina, Lake Waccamaw, N.C. 28450 or to the church or charity of the donor's choice.
Mr. Oliver was retired as Program Specialist in the N.C. State Vocational Rehabilitation program. He was a Charter Member of the Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Garner and was instrumental in the actual hands-on building of the church. Since he and his wife retired to Bath from Garner in 1996 he was a member of the Bath Christian Church.
His wife, Barbara Ann Allen Oliver, survives him. The Oliver's would have celebrated their 40th Wedding Anniversary on September 5, 2004.
Surviving with his wife is their daughter, Pamela Lynn Oliver Cox and her husband, David Lee Cox of Washington; two grandchildren, Dawson Lee Cox and Brandon David Cox, both of Washington; a brother, Robert Deleon Oliver, Jr. and wife, Deborah Stabler Oliver of Belew's Creek, N.C.; his mother and father-in-law, Julius C. Allen and Pauline C. Allen of Bath; a brotherin-law, Dan Allen and wife, Ann of Tryon; a special first cousin, Ann Oliver of Princeton, and five nephews.

Charles Caudill Watkins
Charles Caudill Watkins, 76, of 503 Cedar St., died Wednesday morning, May 5.
He was a son of the late Maylon Elmo and Mary Etta Tharrington Watkins and a native of Franklin County. Mr. Watkins was owner of Watkins Produce Company and retired in 1994 and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a member of Louisburg Lions Club and Louisburg Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board for many years.
funeral service was held Friday, May 7 at Louisburg Baptist Church with Reverend Reggie Rushing officiating. Burial will follow in Lancaster Memorial Park.
Mr. Watkins is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lucille W. Watkins; daughter, Joy L. Watkins of Louisburg; son and daughter in-law, Keith and Elizabeth Watkins of Williamston, SC; sisters and brother in-law, Mildred and Roy Cooke of Apex, Margaret Edwards of Louisburg; brothers and sister in-law, Bob and Wendy Watkins of Louisburg, Bill Watkins of Garner; grandchildren, K.C. Watkins, Jr., James and Charlie Watkins.

David W. Ferguson
David Wayne Ferguson of Chapel Hill died May 1 at Duke Medical Center after a six-year battle with lymphoma. He was 60.
He was born
in Jefferson and was employed by Southern Steel.
A funeral service was conducted Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at Antioch Baptist Church in Chapel Hill. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia Ivey Ferguson of the home; a son, Christopher Haywood Ferguson of Durham; a daughter, Laurie Ferguson Vinson of Denton, Texas; a sister, Corothy Ferguson Sims of Garner; a brother, Marvin Glenn Ferguson of Jefferson; two step-sisters, Becky Christopher of Destin, Fla., and Mildred Hacke of Cumming, Ga.; and three grandchildren.
