EDWARD BURR PATCHELL, 59, of Garner, lost his courageous battle with a year long illness in the Hospice Unit at Rex Hospital on Saturday, September 25, 2004. He was the son of the late Burr Edward Patchell and Margaret Graves.
Mr. Patchell served in the United States Air Force from 1965-1971 at Keesler, AFB, Biloxi, MS. He returned home to assist his parents with a business located on Highway 64, "Old Golfers Pro Shop and Museum." He retired from employment with IBM with some 20 odd years of service and was employed with SOLECTRON for 19 months.
The family thanks everyone for their love, prayers and support during this difficult time. A special thanks to the physicians and staff of UNC Hospital and the Rex Cancer Center. Their time and efforts granted Ed more time to be with his family and friends.
Mr. Patchell's love for his family and friends, his adventure for life, and his ability to make us laugh and smile, will be greatly missed. We will miss him so but are at peace that the angels took him to Jesus where there is no more hurt nor pain.
"I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."
He is survived by his wife of twenty-two years, Dora Janet Patchell; three daughters, Jeanne Patchell Hagy, Monica Lynn Patchell and Dora Jeneen Barbour. Mr. Patchell is also survived by six grandchildren, Taylor Lynn Carbone, Christopher Matthew Carbone, Ryan Grey Hunnicutt, Russell Edward Hunnicutt, Jessica Dora Barbour, Sophie Catherine Hagy; his beloved canine companion "Esperanza"; sister, Mary Belle Patchell and a nephew, Martin Clark Patchell of Mebane.
funeral service was at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 28, 2004 at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC. Burial followed in Montlawn Memorial Park. The family received friends from 2:00-3:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home prior to the service.
The family wishes that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Hospice of Wake County, 1300 St. Mary's Street, Raleigh, NC 27605. The Hospice Foundation staff cared for Ed during his last weeks as if he was one of their own. He was shown love and great compassion with their care.

CARLA LYNN JOHNSON, 37, of Garner, died Saturday, September 25, 2004. funeral service was at 3 p.m. Monday at Montlawn Funeral Home Chapel, 2911 S. Wilmington Street, Raleigh, NC.
She is survived by her sons, William Redman, Corey Redman, Lamont Redman, parents, Valerie and Fred Frazier, all of Garner, father, Arthur Moses, of Braddock, PA, grandmother, Mary Johnson of Rankin, PA, half brothers and sisters, Robin Jenkins of Lawrenceville, PA, Winifred Bell, Lawanda Lennon and Kenny Walters, all of Braddock, PA, Arthur Moses of Maryland, uncles, Richard Johnson of Garner, Ralph Johnson of Palm Beach, FL, Ronald Johnson of Houston, TX, and her fiance, Leon Fonville of Garner.
The family received friends at the funeral home from 1 - 3 p.m. Monday prior to service.

IDA ELLA HATCHER, 80, of the Cleveland Community passed away on September 22, 2004. She was a graduate of Cleveland High School and a retiree of F.W. Woolworth in Raleigh.
She is survived by two sisters and two brothers, Billie (Lester) Pearce of Butner, Sarah Arey of Islip, NY, James and William H. Hatcher of Clayton, Hazel S. Hatcher, sister-in- law.
funeral service was held 11 a.m. Saturday morning at Oakland Presbyterian Church, 8927 Cleveland Road, Clayton, NC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

JAMES “CASH” REGISTER, 75, of 705 Lakeside Drive died Sunday. Mr. Register served in the US Army for 24 years retiring as a Master Sergeant E-8, having served in Korea and Viet Nam. Graveside Service will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday at Montlawn Memorial Park, with military honors. Surviving: wife Evelyn Bunn Register; step- daughter, Debbie Tomlinson and her husband Billy Tomlinson; step- son, Ricky Glover and his wife Bonnie Glover; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home, 705 Lakeside Drive, Garner.

RALPH HARRIS LYNCH SR., 77, of 1338 Peed Road, Rougemont, died at Duke University Medical Center, on Thursday, September 23, 2004, after a period of declining health. Mr. Lynch was a native and lifelong resident of Durham. He was the son of the late James Washington Lynch and Nellie Blye Lockey Lynch. Mr. Lynch was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during World War II in Italy. He retired from Cinecom Inc. and also worked for Channel 11 TV for many years. He loved his children and family and also enjoyed fishing and was an Atlanta Braves baseball fan.
He is survived by his wife, Stella Adams Lynch; three sons, James T. Lynch and wife, Frances of Garner, Ralph H. Lynch, Jr. and wife, Gail of Dunn and Gary L. Lynch and wife Brenda of Rougemont; one daughter, Gail Lynch Whicker of Rougemont; six grandchildren, Brian Lynch, Ricky Lynch, Richie Lynch, Crystal Vollers, Chelsey Lynch and Candace Lynch; two great-grandchildren, Kaleb Lynch and Faith Lynch.
Funeral services were held Saturday, September 25, 2004 at 2 p.m. at Hudson Chapel in Durham with Rev. Robert Willis officiating. Entombment was in Woodlawn Memorial Park, new mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Tommy Jeffries, Clyde Knight, Brian Lynch, Ricky Lynch, Richie Lynch and Frankie Lynch.

Donnie Forbes Lindsey, Sr.
Donnie Forbes Lindsey, Sr., 64, died peacefully among his family and friends on Friday, Nov. 22. Donnie was a native of Franklin County, a retiree from Dorothea Dix Hospital and a 20 year honorary Garner Firefighter.
He enjoyed fishing, golfing and hunting. He spent countless hours watching and feeding birds during his illness. Joys in his life were his family and most especially his grandchildren.

Donnie is survived by his loving and extremely dedicated wife of 40 years, Durleen Boyd Lindsey; his mother, Margaret F Lindsey, Jr. and wife Karen; grandchildren, Jackson Monroe Pleasant, Connor Elizabeth Lindsey, Lindsey Ione Pegram, and two expected arrivals. He is preceded in death by his father, William Jarvis Lindsey; brother Ralph; and sister, Yvonne.

Vergie Ferrell Gay
Vergie Ferrell Gay, 89, formerly of the Pearce Community died Monday, November 4, 2002 at Rex Convalescent Care Center. Mrs. Gay was born
in Wake County on July 14, 1913 to the late Arthur Ferrell and Bettie Richards Ferrell.
funeral service was 11 am November 7 at Pearce Baptist Church Cemetery.
Surviving: sons, B K Gay Jr. and his wife, Pat of Raleigh, Dan Gay of Raleigh; grandchildren, Donna Gay Flynn an husband, James K Flynn of Charlotte and Shannon Gay of Raleigh; great-grandchildren, Ian Flynn, Seth Flynn, Ross Flynn, all of Charlotte.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Gay was preceded in death by her husband, Blanchard K Gay Sr.; brother, Benton Ferrell and sister, Vessie Ferrell.
