EDWARD BURR PATCHELL, 59, of Garner, lost his courageous battle with a year long illness in the Hospice Unit at Rex Hospital on Saturday, September 25, 2004. He was the son of the late Burr Edward Patchell and Margaret Graves.

Mr. Patchell served in the United States Air Force from 1965-1971 at Keesler, AFB, Biloxi, MS. He returned home to assist his parents with a business located on Highway 64, "Old Golfers Pro Shop and Museum." He retired from employment with IBM with some 20 odd years of service and was employed with SOLECTRON for 19 months.

The family thanks everyone for their love, prayers and support during this difficult time. A special thanks to the physicians and staff of UNC Hospital and the Rex Cancer Center. Their time and efforts granted Ed more time to be with his family and friends.

Mr. Patchell's love for his family and friends, his adventure for life, and his ability to make us laugh and smile, will be greatly missed. We will miss him so but are at peace that the angels took him to Jesus where there is no more hurt nor pain.

"I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith."
