RALEIGH- Hugh Franklin Deans, 70, passed away Friday at his home. A native of Wake County, he was the son of the late John Preston Deans and Bessie Ellington Deans. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of Master’s Lodge, Shrine Temple, a member of York Rites, Scottish Rites and Kerbella Shrine Temple in Tennessee; a member of Amran and was the manager of Dean’s Roofing Company. Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Monday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Garner. The family will receive friends Monday from 12:30-2:00 PM prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park, Raleigh. The family will be at the residence at all other times. Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Margaret Rose Deans, sister, Phyllis Coleman of Lexington; brother, Shorty Deans and wife, Sally of Clayton and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sister, Jean Nowell and brother, Luther Deans.

Kathleen Womack Adams

ANGIER – Kathleen Womack Adams, 83, of 6404 Old Stage Road, died Saturday, at Rex Healthcare. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Vernon and Pearl Barbour Womack. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday at Angier Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Lakeside Memorial Gardens. Surviving: daughters, Bonnie Matthews of Angier; Donna Baker and husband, Cecil of Holly Springs; Judy Byerly and husband, Gene of Streetman, TX; son, David C. Adams of Angier; brother, Thomas Womack, Jr. of Angier; grandchildren, Brittney Burdick, Jordan Benners, Matt Baker, Amanda Baker, Eric Matthews, great grandchildren, Cana and Micah Burdick. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayron Coolidge “Pete” Adams and a son Ricky Joe Adams The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 PM Sunday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier. Flowers are appreciated or memorials made be made to Angier Baptist Church, Building Fund, P.O. 130, Angier, NC 27501.

Lucy Flythe Schubart

Lucy Flythe Schubart, 90, died Thursday, November 20, 2008, at Brighton Gardens of Raleigh. She was born icon in Conway, NC, on April 5, 1918, to the late Joe Lassiter Flythe and Ida Lou Futrell Flythe. After graduating from Perquimans County High School, she attended Peace College in Raleigh. She was the secretary at Enloe High School from 1963 until 1968 and at Sanderson High School from 1968 until her retirement in 1983. In addition to her parents, Lucy was preceded in death by her brother, Joe Simon Flythe. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Charles Schubart; her daughter, Vera Holshouser of Raleigh; her son, Charles, Jr. and his wife, Camilla of Tampa, Florida; her granddaughters, Susan Holshouser Smith and husband Allen; Jane Holshouser; and Jenna Schubart all of Raleigh; her step-grandson, Greg Watts of Oxford; her great-granddaughters, Sydney and Sara Katherine Smith; and her niece, Carolyn Day and husband Leon of New York, NY. A burial service will be held at Montlawn Memorial Park on Monday, November 24, at 12:30 PM followed by a memorial service at Hayes Barton United Methodist Church, 2209 Fairview Road, Raleigh, NC, at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the memorial service. ZEBULON – Anita Sue Garrett, 63, died Thursday at Wake Medical Center. A native of Newport News, VA, she was the daughter of the late Alvinza Benedict Jeffers and Sara Jane Kibler Jeffers. A memorial service will be held 3:00 PM Sunday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Garner. The family will receive friends following the services at the home of William and Sue Garrett, 100 Belgium Place, Zebulon, NC 27597. Surviving are her husband of 44 years, William Ira Garrett, Jr.; daughters, Kimberley Mowery and husband, Ray of Newport News, VA, Jennifier Tucker and husband, Terry of Garner; son, William Ira Garrett III “Billy” and wife, Cindy of Mathews County, VA; brothers, Michael Franklin Jeffers of Newport News, VA, Jeffrey Scott Jeffers and wife, Cheryl of Smithfield, VA, Tommy Jeffers and wife, Marilyn of Richmond, VA and Jack Kevin Jeffers and wife, Billie Jean of Newport News, VA; grandchildren, Megan Mowery, William Alvinza-Scott Garrett, Nicklaus Landon Garrett, Travis Mowery, Steven Stafford, Savannah Stafford and Kyle Tucker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Ian Mowery.

Mary Colwell King

RALEIGH– One of God’s faithful servants, Mary Colwell King, 72, fell asleep with the Lord, Tuesday morning at her home. Born in Sampson County, she was the daughter of the late George Edward Colwell and Mamie Croom Colwell. Funeral Services will be 11:30 AM Thursday at First Baptist Church of Garner. The family will receive friends from 10:00 – 11:30 AM at the church prior to the service. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 in Matthis Family Cemetery on Hwy. 24 between Clinton and Turkey, NC. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Elwood King, Sr.; daughter, Tammie King Wood and husband, Bran; son, Elwood King, Jr. and wife, Anita, all of Raleigh. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Rebecca King, Kyle Wood and Hunter Wood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Glenda Anne King. PHILIP G. PERRY Aug. 5, 1917 – Nov. 10, 2006 Philip G. Perry, 89, of Raleigh, died Friday Nov. 10, 2006 at home. Originally from Lee County, Phil moved to Wake County as a small child and enjoyed sharing his stories of growing up at the Falls of the Neuse. In 1944, he met and married Margaret in Tupelo, Mississippi and brought her to his home in Raleigh. There they raised a family of five children whose love for him was exceeded only by his love for them and Margaret. With a zest for life and a sharp sense of humor, Phil loved a good joke – whether hearing a new one or telling an old one. He loved building and construction, designing and building new things as well as fixing broken ones, and always creating improvements to the original model. His waterfalls were his pride and joy, and if he was not in the process of constructing one, he was designing a new one in his mind. No one could visit his home without being given a tour of all of creations. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret C. Perry; son, Mike Perry and wife Betty of Merritt Island, Florida; daughter, Laura McLean and husband Mike of Raleigh; daughter, Beth Black and husband Tal of Chapel Hill; son, Dennis Perry and wife, Ali, of Raleigh; and son, David Perry and wife Robin of Atlanta; and sisters Anne Capucille and Mildred Bateman of Raleigh. Grandchildren are: Scott Perry and wife Angela; Jen Foster and husband Derek, Matt McLean; Mandy and Kylie Black; Dean and Alan Perry; Kelsey, Olivia and Jonathan Perry; great-grandchild Brendan Perry. Phil is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and innumerable friends. The family will like to extend special thanks to Anna Wolverton, RN of Hospice of Wake County for her compassionate and attentive care. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Wake County, 1300 St. Mary’s Street, Raleigh, NC, 27605. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Monday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel and will be officiated by Rev. Greg Moore. Interment with Masonic Rites at Montlawn Memorial Park will follow

Marie Powell Lyles

Marie Powell Lyles, 89, died Thursday. A native of Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Lydia Flowers Powell. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, 2:00 PM at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Garner. Surviving are daughters, Carol Lyles Canady and husband, Jim of Garner and Judy Lyles Troutman and husband, Joe of Apex; grandchildren, Kenneth Norris, Michael Troutman, Kelly Norris and wife, Dee, Brad Troutman; great-grandchildren, Ashton Norris, Peyton Norris; step-grandchildren, Jamie Canady, Cindy Canady Joyner and husband, Scott; step-great-grandchildren, Brandon Joyner and Chloe Dare Joyner. The family will receive friends immediately following the service Sunday at the funeral home and at other times at the home of Carol and Jim Canady, 1109 Cattleman Circle, Garner. Naomi Fulghum Allen

Naomi Fulghum Allen, 83, of 1050-103 Washington Street, died peacefully at home on Wednesday. Her smile lit the room and her heart warmed the world, and she will be deeply missed by her family and wide circle of friends. Her grace and spirit inspired everyone around her to love more greatly, give more freely and live more fully. The funeral service will be 2:00 PM Sunday at Milner Memorial Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow at Montlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4:00 – 5:00 PM Saturday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 831 Wake Forest Road, Raleigh. Naomi was a lifelong learner who was keenly interested in others and in the world around her. She maintained an active correspondence with dozens of friends and family members who sent well wishes and thinking-of-you cards, and she particularly delighted in receiving family photos. She was the owner of Eldercare Convalescent Service for 35 years, and was named “Woman of the Year” by the American Business Women’s Association. She served on many committees of the Orange and New Hope Presbytery, the Presbyterian Urban Council of Raleigh, was past Chair of the Board of Capital Towers, and was a long-time elder of Milner Memorial Presbyterian Church. She also was active in the National Association of Women Business Owners for a number of years. She was preceded in death by her devoted and loving husband of nearly 39 years, James Doub “Crow” Allen, who died on October 20, 2006. She is survived by daughters Dorothy Beamon McLeod of Garner and Mary Anne Beamon Grimes of Raleigh; son, Donald Ralph Beamon of Bunnlevel; sisters, Margie Letchworth, Dora Lee and Ann Morris, of Raleigh; special sisters, Theresa Hinton Dodds of Chapel Hill, Billie Frances Hinton of Raleigh and Athalene Pittman of Fremont; grandchildren, Tony and Robyn McLeod, Angie and Matt Harrison, Toby and Joseph Beamon and Chris Grimes; great-grandchildren, Seth and Sydney McLeod and Ashlyn and Ryan Harrison, and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to her care team from Hospice of Wake County. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her Stepmother, Margaret Fulghum; sisters, Mary Woodard Watson and Earlene Hinson. Lacoma E. Adams

ANGIER — Lacoma Eldridge Adams, 85, a loving son, husband, daddy, papa, and friend, went to be with his heavenly Father on Wednesday. Lacoma was born icon in Angier, the son of the late John Robert and Bessie Virginia Page Adams. A member of Neill’s Creek Baptist Church, he grew up on a tobacco farm in Harnett County and was a farmer and carpenter for many years. Mr. Adams was a veteran of the US Navy where he served during World War II on the USS Albemarle. He later chose a new career in the Drywall Construction business. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM at Neill’s Creek Baptist Church. Interment will be at Harnett Memorial Park in Lillington. Mr. Adams is survived by three sons: Wayne Adams and wife, Melva, Winton Adams and wife, Diane, Warren Adams and wife, Donna, all of Angier; three daughters Wandra Raynor, Wyonna Johnson and husband, Charlie, both of Angier, Wincer Adams-Best of Smithfield; step-son, Billy Garner and wife, Ella of Garner; thirteen grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; twenty two great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by Edna Alene Mangum, his first wife and mother of his six children, and Etta Braswell Garner, his second wife; stepdaughter, Faye Perkinson and stepson, Melvin Price; and one grandson. The family will be at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, 6 – 8 PM Friday and at other times at the home of Wandra Raynor in Angier.

Alex Zebrun

ANGIER – Alex Zebrun, 77 of Angier went to be with the Lord, Monday November 6, 2006. Alex was born icon on April 14, 1929, in Arvona Pennsylvania. He was a graduate of Clearfield High School and an employee of Kirtz Brothers Company for several years. He also worked as a deliveryman for the Charles Chip Company before moving to State College, Pennsylvania, where he joined the Allied Van Lines organization. He continued working for several moving companies on the East coast and Midwest for a total of forty-two years. During that time he demonstrated his leadership by earning noted awards in the moving business. He was an active member of the Kerr Addition Methodist Church in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. He will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, for his laughter, love for animals, and interests in bowling, pinochle, golfing and horseshoes. Memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM Friday November 10, 2006 in the Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Angier, with Rev. Mike Davis officiating. He is survived by his wife Ruth Raymond Zebrun; daughter, Cheryl Murphy ; sons, Cameron and Owen Zebrun ; brother, Walter Zebrun ; and three grandchildren, Patrick and Emma Murphy and Emily Zebrun. The family will be at Bryan-Lee Funeral Home, Angier, 6-8 PM Thursday November 9, 2006.

Robert Edwin Blackley, 77, of 1302 Buffaloe Road, died Monday. He was the son of the late Luther and Mabel Blackwood Blackley. A Memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at Bryan-Lee Funeral Chapel, Garner. The family will receive friends following the service. Surviving: his wife of 57 years, Cornelia Hughes Blackley; daughter, Jann Blackley Sorrell and husband Glenn of Garner; sons, Douglas Blackley of Wendell and David Blackley of Garner; brother, Bruce Blackley of Swansboro; 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Blackley Williams and sisters, Wade Lacock and Miriam Clayton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, P. O. Box 1132, Fairfax, VA 22038-1132.
