He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pat; their sons Ryan of Raleigh and Matt and his wife Misty of Panama City, Panama. Born in Conway, NC, on July 12, l942, Dillon was the only child of the late S.D and Annie Davis Hedspeth. He was a graduate of North Carolina State University and married Pat Spence, also of Conway, in l964. After spending nine years living in Ahoskie, NC, and working with Sunbeam Corporation and then Roanoke Chowan Technical Institute, he began working for Livingston & Haven, Inc. in 1974, and moved his young family to Wilmington, NC, briefly and then to Raleigh where he lived for 32 years. Dillon loved his wife, cherished his family and had a deep and abiding faith in Jesus Christ. He was a loyal and caring friend to many, young and old. Being intimately involved in the lives of his sons gave him the greatest pleasure. From coaching their athletic teams to going fishing, their time together meant the world to him. He also took a special interest in the lives of Ryan’s and Matt’s friends. As a long-time member of White Memorial Presbyterian Church, he served as a Sunday school teacher, a Deacon and an Elder. Dillon thrived on relationships, which fueled his passion for deeply connecting with people at church, at work, and at home. His life truly exemplified the fruits of compassion and encouragement. He never missed an opportunity to lift a spirit or lend a hand (or play a joke!). The entire Hedspeth family will forever be thankful for and grateful to our dear friends who have given tirelessly of their time and resources to encourage and support us throughout this journey. We would also like to express a special word of thanks to Dillon’s extraordinary homecare providers, doctors and nurses.
