Wilhelmina Ferguson – Southport
Southport - Mrs. Wilhelmina Boesser Ferguson, 84 of River Road, Southport, went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Monday, July 13, 2009 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. Mrs. Ferguson was born
September 20, 1924 in Winston-Salem, NC the daughter of the late Christian Mark Boesser and Sarah Wilhelmina Cranford Boesser. Mrs. Ferguson was a member of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in Southport, she was a member of the Women’s AGLOW and attended Christ Body Ministries.
Surviving are her brother The Reverend Mark A. Boesser and wife Mildred of Juneau, Alaska, a sister Mary Patricia Paparazo of Goldsboro, a foster daughter Sally Shackelford and husband Billy of Walkertown, three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, nieces Dr. Katy Doty, Susan Paparazo, Sara Boesser, Kate Boesser, Cynthia Boesser, and Barbara Cimino; and a nephew Dr. James “Andy” Bell III.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 4:00 pm on Friday, July 17, 2009 at St. Philips Episcopal Church with Reverend Barry Kubler officiating.

Thomas Victor Perkins – Wilmington
Wilmington - Mr. Thomas Victor Perkins age 64 of Wilmington, NC died Tuesday July 14, 2009 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center.
Mr. Perkins was born
in Greensboro, North Carolina on May 11, 1945 and was the son of the late Harold Lee Perkins Sr. and Mabel Coffey Buckley. He was a former resident of Greensboro and was a music promoter for many years. Mr. Perkins was a US Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Lee Perkins Jr. and Richard T. Perkins.
He is survived by his daughter, Nichole Patino and husband Fernando of Greensboro; two grandchildren, Isaac and Kateland; a sister, Lynn P. Brown of Martinsville, Va., and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held Saturday July 25, 2009 at 11am at Grace Community Church located on 643 W. Lee Street, Greensboro.
Mafalda “Muffy” Thomas
Southport - Mafalda “Muffy” Thomas, 89, of Boiling Spring Lakes, formerly of South Plainfield, New Jersey, passed away Friday, January 9, 2015 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center.
She was the beloved wife of the late Wolfred Thomas for 62 years.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island on November 22, 1925 she was the daughter of the late James and Lucia (Costantino) Bove.
Mrs. Thomas retired from Revlon Inc.in New Jersey before moving to Boiling Spring Lakes in 1988. She served on the Boiling Spring Lakes planning board from 1992-1997. She was a member Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
A loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother she is survived by her son, Thomas Daniel Thomas of Boiling Spring Lakes, daughter Gail Ellis & husband James Edward of Carrboro, NC, two grandchildren Thomas Ellis of Cary, NC and Jennifer Ellis of Carrboro, NC
She was the sister of Virginia Kanelos of the late Anthony, Jerry and Peter Bove, also Lynne Cardinal and Mollie Carcia.
A memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM Tuesday January 13, 2015 at Peacock Newnam & White Funeral and Cremation Service.

Robert “Dick” Hughes – St. James
Richard “Dick” Hughes, 75, died Monday, September 20, 2010 at Dosher Memorial Hospital in Southport, North Carolina after a prolonged illness.
He leaves his wife of 38 years, Judy; sister Gail Foreman; son Randal Hughes; daughter Sharon Beckman; five grandsons and many close friends.
Dick was born
December 24, 1934, in Mt. Vernon, New York, to Dorothy Hanson Hughes and John McCall Hughes. He had a BSBA from the University of Florida in Gainesville. He retired from Chesapeake Corporation in Binghamton, New York in 1997. Dick and his wife Judy took up residence in St. James, North Carolina and have resided there for the last 14 years. They are both avid golfers and enjoyed their retirement there.
A Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 am, Monday, September 27, 2010 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Southport with Reverend Trent Watts officiating.

Carolyn Clary
Louisville, KY and Southport - Carolyn Ann Clary, 61, of Louisville died July 17th, 2010 at Glen Ridge Health Campus from Lymphoma Cancer.
She was born
on February 6 1949 in Charleston West Virginia to Ralph E. Kessel and Elsie M. Kessel. Carolyn graduated from Buffalo High School in 1966 and continued her education at a business school in West Virginia. She married Mark W. Clary in 1981and they lived together in Southport, North Carolina for 24 years before relocating to Louisville, Kentucky in 2006.
She worked for Wal-Mart in Southport and Louisville for 9 Years. Her interest included reading, gardening, spending time with family and visiting Southport which she missed very much.
Carolyn was a member of Beach Road Baptist Church and was involved in the charity Relay For Life.
Carolyn is survived by her husband Mark W. Clary; mother Elsie M. Kessel; two daughters, Jennifer L. Clary and Heather D. Clary; two brothers John D. Kessel and William E. Kessel.
She was preceded in death by her father Ralph E. Kessel, father-in-law William E. Clary, and mother-in-law Gladys F. Clary.
A Memorial Service was held at South Jefferson Christian Church in Louisville. A Graveside Memorial Service will be held Saturday September 25, 2010 at Northwood Cemetery in Southport at 1pm.

Albert Arthur Dosher Sr. – Southport
Albert Arthur Dosher Sr., age 78, died Saturday, October 2, 2010 at his residence.
Mr. Dosher was born
in Southport on August 15, 1932, son of the late Thomas Hoyle Dosher Sr. and Hermine Beora Dosher. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in the Korean Conflict. Mr. Dosher was a retired longshoreman. He was preceded in death by a son Charles Manning Dosher.
Survivors include one son Albert Arthur Dosher Jr. and friend Joyce Sherve of Southport; one daughter Becky Dosher of Southport; two brothers T. Hoyle Dosher and wife Betty of Southport, John Richard Dosher and wife Roberta of Southport; one sister Hermine “Sissy” Dosher Hall of Harrells; one granddaughter; two great grandchildren; four nephews and four nieces; and many other friends including Reese Swan and former wife Eugenia Holden.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Monday at Northwood Cemetery in Southport with Reverend Charles Drew officiating.

Robert “Bob” Midyette
Southport - Robert Joseph Midyette, (Bob) of Southport, NC died peacefully Saturday, September 18th 2010 at home after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease.
Born in Norfolk, Virginia, June 18th 1931, to Robert and Ester Midyette, he enlisted in the Air-Force and fought in the Korean War.
Bob worked for Gruman Aircraft, during the Apollo Moon Missions of the 1960′s and received a certificate for his work on Apollo 13. After the wind down of the Moon missions he eventually moved to Southport, NC in 1975 and purchased the original Watson’s Pharmacy building, converting it from a five and dime store to a small sandwich shop and eventually a full service restaurant named “The Pharmacy” which still stands and operates today under different ownership.
Bob is survived by his wife of 47 years Gwen, son Bob Jr (B.J.) and his wife Yanick and their daughter Hayden, his son Paul preceded him in death in 1990.
The Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday September 21st at Trinity United Methodist Church in Southport, NC. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 209 East Nash St. Southport NC, 28461
