Bobby Ray Ford, Jr.
September 27, 1954 – December 11, 2014

Bobby Ray Ford, Jr., 60, of Kinston passed away Thursday. His funeral service will be held 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery, Wilson. The Rev. Dr. De Wayne Eakes will officiate.

The family will receive friends 1:30 – 3:15 p.m. before the service at 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and following the graveside service on Sunday at 2834 Lancaster Road, Wilson.

Bobby was a fun and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. His family and their needs always came first. He was a devoted Christian and served his Lord.

Bobby is survived by his wife, of thirty-nine years, Janice Taylor Ford of the home; his daughter, Heather Ford Clark and husband, Tommy of Kinston; his son, Robby Overman of Raleigh; his grandchildren, Hugh, Evan, Lucy and Aiden; his mother, Bessie Driver Ford of Lucama; his sisters, Jennifer Rose Ford of Atlanta, Georgia, Pamala Ford White and husband, Tom of Sneads Ferry, and Teresa Ford Yarbrough of Lucama; his brother, Dennis Ford and wife, Terry of Lucama; several nieces and nephews; his sisters-in-law; Joyce Raper and husband, Donnie of Lucama and Susan Bullock and husband, Michael of Wilson; his brother-in-law, Jimmy Taylor and wife, Amy of Wilson and his special friend and cousin, Ronnie Ford of Lucama.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bobby Ray Ford, Sr.; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Taylor and his brothers-in-law, Kent Yarbrough and William Taylor.

Jennie Ellis Williford
February 5, 1929 – December 15, 2014

Jennie Ellis Williford, 85, of Greensboro, formerly of Wilson went home to be home with her Lord on December 15, 2014, after a lengthy illness. Her funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. Bobby White will officiate.

The family will receive friends 12:30 – 1:45 p.m. Saturday prior to the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home of her brother, Jerry T. Ellis of Saratoga.

Jennie was born icon in Wilson County and was the widow of Joseph Newton Williford, the daughter of the late Henry Wallace Ellis, Sr. and Ethel Craft Ellis. She graduated from Saratoga High School and was a member of Saratoga Christian Church. Jennie was the bookkeeper and secretary in the construction industry in Greensboro for many years prior to retiring and moving to Charlotte and Rocky Mount.

Wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived by her children; Joseph N. Williford, Jr. and wife, Elaine of Jamestown; her son, C. Glenn Williford and wife, Melissa of Willow Springs and her daughter, Jennie W. Hinson and husband, Lee of Greensboro; nine grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; her brother, Jerry Ellis and wife, Delance and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to express their thanks to the Clapp’s Nursing and Rehab Center of Pleasant Garden, for their outstanding care of Jennie.

Emilee Nicole Hunter
October 17, 1995 – December 9, 2014

Emilee Nicole Hunter, 19, of Sims entered into the presence of Jesus Tuesday, December 9, 2014. Emilee is survived by her parents, Craig and Lisa Thorne Hunter of Sims; her brother, Zachary Hunter; her grandmother, Doris Thorne of Wilson; her uncles and aunts, Ronny and Pam Thorne of Newport, Ed and Sharon Hunter of Wilson and Charlie and Joyce Neel of Sims and several loving cousins.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Tabernacle Baptist Church and other times at Emilee’s home.

Her funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1815 Airport Boulevard West, Wilson. A graveside service will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. Joe Shakour and Rev. Jerry Nelson will officiate.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, WT Thorne and Ed and Emma Hunter.

Francisca Bruno de Cardoso
March 23, 1927 – November 6, 2014

Francisca “Nani” Bruno de Cardoso, 87, of Elm City passed away Thursday.

The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 11th, at the home of Kristina Horne, 4101 Huntsmoor Lane, Wilson.

“Nani” was a devoted wife to her husband of 64 years. She was a loving, caring, and giving woman to everyone she knew. “Nani” dedicated her life to the care of her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

“Nani” is survived by her daughter, Maria Cristina Cardoso of the home; her son, Juan Carlos Cardoso of Phoenix, Arizona; her granddaughters, Maria Gabriela Brunetti and Maria Daniela Brunetti both of the home, Maria Kristina Horne and husband, Tony of Wilson, Sara Elizabeth Cardoso and Anna Felicia Cardoso both of Virginia Beach, Virginia; her great-granddaughters, Skylar Isabella Brunetti and Ashlyn Francesca Brunetti of the home and Rebecca and Jackson Rose Cardoso both of Virginia Beach, Virginia; her great-grandsons, Antonia L. Horne of Wilson and Christian Cardoso of Virginia Beach, Virginia and many special friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Juan Carlos “Papi” Cardoso and her grandson, Brian Christopher Cardoso.

Mary Magdalene Casey Amerson
August 14, 1935 – September 30, 2014

Mary Magdalene went to be with Jesus Tuesday morning when her heart of gold finally stopped since a heart attack in 1999. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday in the Amerson Cemetery, Forest Hills Road, Wilson. The Rev. Tommy Hagan will officiate.

The family will receive friends 7 – 9 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at the home.

Mary loved her family and friends and she enjoyed making them laugh. She knew hard work and hard times but it never got her down. Mary never met a stranger and had a kind and loving word for everyone. She was retired from Sampson’s Manufacturing and later she would sit with the elderly and sick at their homes or nursing homes.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Becky Baker and husband, Danny of Elm City; her son, Michael Amerson of Wilson, who has lost a true friend; her granddaughters, Christy Combs, who cared for her in her last days, Hope Mansfield and husband, Jeremy, Melissa Holland; her grandsons, Scott Combs and Rodney Amerson; her great-grandchildren, Chris, Karen, Rachel and Alana and her sister, Clyde Webb of Ayden.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Larry “Mike” Amerson; her son, John “Johnny” Amerson; her parents, Charles Aycock and Maggie Sasser Casey and her brothers, Reverend James Casey and John Casey.

The family would like to thank Dr. Chand and hospice for all their care and support. Thank you to everyone for your prayers and concern.

William Perry Barnes
September 8, 1929 – October 26, 2014

William “Bill” Perry Barnes, 85, of Wilson passed away Sunday. A funeral service will be conducted 7 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. Jerry Nelson will officiate.

The family will receive friends 6:00 – 6:45 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at the home of Tommy and Betty Barnes.

Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all that knew him. He always had a smile for everyone and loved to play practical jokes. He went to the Senior Center every Friday afternoon to enjoy his love for music and dancing. He also loved to play cards, Rummy was his game. Bill was truly loved and will be greatly missed.

Bill is survived by his loving and dedicated wife of fifty-nine years, Jean Joyner Barnes of the home; his daughter, Donna Barnes Corbett of Rock Ridge; his sons, Tommy Barnes and wife, Betty of Wilson and Rodner Barnes of the home; his granddaughter, Caitlyn Barnes Corbett of Rock Ridge; his grandsons, Allen Corbett and wife, Lindsay of Zebulon, Chris Barnes and wife, Laura of Wilson and Brandon Barnes and Amber of Black Creek; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Doug Barnes and his grandson, “Bo” Barnes.

Franklin Ward Benson
September 13, 1940 – October 25, 2014

Franklin “Frank” Ward Benson, 74, of Wilson passed away Saturday. A celebration of his life and a graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. LaVon Phillips and Rev. William Foster will officiate. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the gravesite.

Frank was a graduate of Charles L. Coon High School in Wilson and he earned an Applied Mathematics and Statistics Degree at North Carolina State University. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and a friend to all that knew him. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Frank and his brother, John, were co-owners of Carolina Builders of Wilson, Benson Rentals of Wilson, and Cities Development Company of Raleigh. He was also a partner in Charter Construction Company, Kingsmill Homes, as well as various gas and oil partnerships in different states. Frank was very involved in the Wilson Community, he was a faithful and loyal member at Farmington Heights Church of God, he was on the Board of Directors at BB&T for twenty-six years, and was a co-founder of Community Christian School of Wilson. Frank had a passion for missions and was very instrumental in financing missionary endeavors internationally, with a particular love for the country of Israel.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Judith “Judy” Barnes Benson of the home; his sons, Thomas Ward Benson and wife, Kim of Wilson and Jeffrey Gray Benson and wife, Sandy of Wilson; his daughter, Mollie Benson Dorsey and husband, David of Wilson; his grandsons, Jacob Gray Benson and David Thomas Benson; his granddaughters Katelyn Gray Lemes, Lacey Benson Hantho, Madison Gray Benson, Virginia Benson Rabil; and Mary Benson Dennis; his four great-grandchildren and his brother, John and wife, Ann of Wilson

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Willis and Mary Kate McLamb Benson.
