Marvin Wyrick
October 26, 1943 – July 26, 2015

Marvin Wyrick, 71, of Stantonsburg, North Carolina went home be with his Lord and Savior Sunday. A memorial service will be conducted at a later date to celebrate his life. The date and time will be announced.

Marvin was a loving husband, step-father, grandfather, brother and friend to all that knew him. He was a born icon again Christian and attended Lewis Memorial Baptist Church in Huntington, West Virginia. He was lifelong hunter and fisherman. Marvin was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Sandra Adkins Wyrick of the home; his sisters, Linda Mae Miles and husband, Bill of West Virginia, and Gloria Ann Perry and husband, Stew of Chattooga, Tennessee; his brother, Bruce Wyrick and wife, Zandra of Logan, Ohio; his step-daughter, Leandra Weber and husband, Justin of Indiana; his grandchildren, Abigail Weber, Jason Weber and Genevieve Weber; his special friend and cousin, Bob Wyrick and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Kyle Ennis Wyrick and Norma Mae Abbott Wyrick and his first wife, Sharon Wyrick.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials in Marvin’s name to the charity of their choice.

Julia Mae Gay Burress
December 7, 1939 – July 26, 2015

Julia Mae Gay Burress, 75, of Middlesex passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville after various complicated medical procedures. Her graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in Evergreen Memorial Park. The pastor Clark Vincent will officiate.

The family will receive friends at the home of Julia Burress.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Mosley Gay, Sr. and Pauline Owens-Gay; her husband, Bobby Burress and her daughter, Amy Burress-Renfrow.

She is survived by her brothers, Herbert Gay, Jr. and William Gay; her grandchildren, Tricia, Jenna, and John Ross Renfrow; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested in Julia’s memory may be made to the Oak Grove Presbyterian Church, c/o Ross Renfrow, 226 Renfrow Narron Road, Middlesex, NC 27557,
Joyce Ann Harrell Lamm
September 3, 1931 – July 27, 2015

Joyce Ann Harrell Lamm, 83, of Wilson passed away Monday. Her funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 30, 2015 at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. Steve Clayton will officiate.

The family will receive friends 1 – 2:45 p.m. Thursday prior to the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home.

Joyce was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all who knew her. Joyce grew up in Wilson, and was a graduate of Charles L. Coon High School, where she was a majorette. She attended Atlantic Christian College (now Barton College), where her lifelong love of bridge started. She graduated from Atlantic Christian College with honors. She married the love of her life, Kenneth Lamm in 1952. They enjoyed a wonderful marriage and life together for sixty-three years. Joyce lived in Fayetteville, New Bern, Tarboro, Cedar Point and Wilson during her lifetime and made lasting friendships wherever she went. Joyce was a teacher for twenty-five years with the public school system.

Joyce was an avid duplicate bridge player with numerous tournament victories to her name. She achieved the rank of Life Master, and even won a trip to San Francisco. Everyone wanted to be Joyce’s partner! She also enjoyed playing tennis and basketball. Joyce always looked on the bright side of life no matter the circumstances.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Kenneth R. Lamm of the home; her son, Daniel Kent Lamm and wife, Caroline of Charlotte and her grandson, Cooper Lamm of Charlotte.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel Mills and Lillian Emily Gooding Harrell and her sister, Virginia Harrell.

Flowers are welcome or memorials in Joyce’s memory to First Baptist Church, PO Box 1467, Wilson, NC 27894.

Jack W. Bissette
October 1, 1940 – July 27, 2015

Jack Willie Bissette, 74, of Bloomery Road went to be with his Lord Monday. A graveside service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday in the family cemetery, 840 Bloomery Road, Wilson. The Rev. Jason Schweinberg will officiate.

The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home.

Jack was born icon October 1, 1940 in Nash County. He was the son of the late Willie V. Bissette and Eula Mae Bissette. Jack graduated from Bailey High School, and then he began a career in the life insurance business. He was the top regional manager of Reserve Life Insurance Company. In the late 1970’s he resigned from the insurance business to pursue his lifelong dream of being a self-employed farmer and auctioneer for which he became very successful. Jack was a member of HUMC, an avid golfer, and in his later years he became involved with the dog rescue.

Jack is survived by his wife, Patsy Bissette of the home; his daughter, Deanie Bissette; his son, Wesley Bissette and Phyllis; his granddaughters, Lindsey Proctor and Brittney Forbes; his grandson, Jeffrey Bissette; four great-grandchildren and his sister, Nancy B. Morgan.

He was preceded in death by his son, Kevin; his parents, Willie V. and Eula Bissette; his sister, Susan Bissette and his brother, Kenneth Bissette.

The family would like to extend thanks to those who have provided care and support to Jack, Patsy and the family.

Clyde Stewart Joyner
December 26, 1954 – July 23, 2015

Clyde Stewart Joyner, 60, of Wilson, went to be with the Lord on Thursday. His funeral service will be conducted 6 p.m. Sunday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Entombment will be held 11 a.m. Monday in Evergreen Memorial Park, Wilson. The Rev. Marvin Wiggins and the Rev. Carroll Wiggs will officiate.

The family will receive friends Sunday evening immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home of his sister, Zura Scott.

Clyde is survived by his sisters, Alice J. Hock and husband, Maurice of Franklinton and Zura J. Scott and husband, Jimmy; his brother, Offie Joyner and wife, Lavern of Franklinton and several nieces and nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Joyner and Jessie Mae Patterson Joyner; one sister, and seven brothers.

Flowers are welcome or memorials can be made in Clyde’s honor to The Oxford Group Home, 605 N Country Club Drive, Oxford, NC 27565.

Claude Wayne Bass
February 3, 1941 – July 26, 2015

Claude Wayne Bass, 74, of Wilson passed away Sunday. His memorial service will be conducted 7 p.m. Tuesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Derrill Edwards will officiate.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home.

Claude was a loving husband, father, grandpa and great-grandpa who will be greatly missed and thought of warm memories that will warm the heart.

Claude is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Elizabeth “Lib” Brewer Bass of the home; his daughter, Angela Bass Brantley and husband, William “Willie” of Wilson; his son, Claude Mossette Bass of Middlesex; their granddaughters, Lauren Ashely Bass of Bailey, Madelyn Elizabeth Bass of Bailey and Claudia Montine Bass of Middlesex; his great-grandson, Noah Christopher Bass of Bailey; his sisters, Joyce Holloman of Wilson and Barbara Hill of Wilson; his brother, Jerald Bass and wife, Sandra of Black Creek; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Franklin and Frances Whitley Bass.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be directed to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.

Carley King Tedder Pipkin
September 21, 1940 – July 25, 2015

Carley “Dinah” Tedder Pipkin, 74, of Lucama passed away Saturday. Her funeral services will be conducted Tuesday 4 p.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Ferrell Family Cemetery, Morningside Road, Wilson. The Rev. DeWayne Eakes will officiate.

The family will receive friends 2 – 3:45 p.m. prior to the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home and other times at the home of Tammy Dixon, 8725 Buckhorn Way, Kenly.

Dinah was loved by all and will be greatly missed.

Dinah is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Diane Wheeler and husband, Dennis of Mt. Pleasant, Judy P. Hayes and husband, Terry of Lucama, and Tammy P. Dixon and husband, Eddie of Kenly; nine grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Pipkin.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting assistance with end of life expenses, Joyner’s Funeral Home, PO Box 425, Wilson, NC.
