Martin Everett Liles, 86, of Bailey passed away Wednesday. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday in Bailey Town Cemetery, Bailey. The Rev. Eldrick Davis will officiate.
The family will receive friends 7 – 9 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
Martin is survived by his daughter, Victoria Bailey Liles of Wilmington.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine Bailey Liles.

Edward Earl Barnes
November 25, 1957-April 2, 2013
Edward Earl Barnes, 55, of Pikeville passed away Tuesday. Memorial services will be conducted 3 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. James Barnes will officiate.
The family will receive friends 1:30 - 2:45 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway.
He was loved and will be dearly missed by all that knew him. Edward was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother.
Edward is survived by his wife, Mary Bryant Barnes of the home; his daughters, Amanda Lucas and husband, Jeremy of Goldsboro, Kimberley Ham and husband, Ernest of Goldsboro and Staci Barnes of Goldsboro; his five grandchildren; his father, Jimmy Earl Barnes of Pikeville; his sister, Martha Barnes Felton and husband, Michael of Wilson, and his brothers, David Wayne Barnes and wife, Jane of Wilson and James Glenn Barnes and wife, Lisa of Windsor.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Joyner Barnes and his sister, Cindi Barnes Speight.

Rev. Billy Oxford Bailey
August 31, 1944 – April 26, 2013
Rev. Billy Oxford Bailey, 68, of Middlesex passed away Friday. A graveside service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Bailey Family Cemetery, Old Bailey Rd., Middlesex. The Rev. George Nagel and the Rev. Ricky Sullivan will officiate.
The family will receive friends 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson, and other times at the residence.
Rev. Bailey pastored churches for over 40 years, including churches in Tarboro, Micro, Ranlo, Norman, Franklinton, and Durham.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy Nagel Bailey; one son, Neil Gene Bailey and wife, Hannah of Middlesex; two sisters, Mary Alice Bailey and Judy Carolyn Braswell and husband, Phillip, all of Middlesex; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Megpie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey Gene and MaeBelle B. Bailey.

Millard Woodard
August 24, 1933 – April 1, 2013
Millard Woodard, 79, of Bailey went home to be with the Lord on Monday. Funeral services will be conducted 7 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday in Bailey Town Cemetery. Pastor Steve Edmondson and Pastor Ed Toler will officiate.
The family will receive friends Wednesday immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at his residence.
Millard was a member of Middlesex Church of God. His hobbies included building bird houses and stools that he gave away. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Millard is survived by his wife Annie Ruth Joyner Woodard of the home; his daughters, Vicki Jordan Lamm and husband, Vance of Bailey and Cathy W. Casale of Raleigh; his five grandchildren, Chris Jordan and wife, Angel of Columbia, SC, Chad Jordan and wife, Denise of Spring Hope, Brandy Pendley and husband, Matt of Maxton, Fallon Scianna of Charlotte and Matthew Braswell of Raleigh; his two step-grandchildren, Angel Holland and husband, Jerry of Kenly and Cameron Lamm of Bailey; fifteen great-grandchildren and his three brothers, Melvin Franklin Woodard of Kinston, James Alonza Woodard and Charles Ray Woodard both of Princeton.
He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Ray Woodard and his parents, Wilbert George and Flora Mae Daughtry Woodard.

Otha Wayne Pollard, Sr.
July 22, 1946 – April 28, 2013
Otha Wayne Pollard, Sr., 66, of Wilson passed away Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted 7 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. The Rev. LaVon Phillips and the Rev. Craig Simmons will officiate. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday in Stantonsburg Cemetery with the Rev. Melvin Barnette officiating.
The family will receive friends Thursday evening immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at the home.
Wayne was a devoted family man and friend. Spending time with his granddaughters gave him great pleasure. Wayne loved people and had many friends of who knew he had a dry sense of humor. He was a loving a husband, father and grandfather that will be missed and thought of often every day with loving memories and smiles. Wayne retired from the Wilson Fire and Rescue after serving 30 years. The last years of service he was a Battalion Chief. He was the owner of Pollard’s Tree Service, which will be continued by his son, Michael.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 47 years, Linda Pollard; his sons, Wayne Pollard and fiancé, Tracy and her son, Corey of Wilson, Michael Pollard and wife, Lisa of Wilson and Chad Pollard of Wilson; his granddaughters, which were the apple of his eye, Ciera, Anna-Brooke and Kaitlyn and his grand-dog, Roxy, which he loved to take for rides.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dock and Lissie Pollard.
Joe French Vaughan
November 14, 1914 – March 25, 2013
Joe “Joedy” French Vaughan, 98, of Houston passed away Monday, March 25, 2013. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in Maplewood Cemetery with military honors. The Rev. Ray Wells will officiate.
The family will receive friends Wednesday prior to the service from 9 – 10:30 a.m. at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway.
Joedy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather that will be missed and thought of often with joyful memories. He graduated from Catlettsburg High School, and after serving his country honorably with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during World War II, he retired after thirty three years working for the Federal Government. Joedy was on the original senior staff of the Peace Corps under Bill Moyers as established by President Kennedy in 1961. The balance of his distinguished career was with the State Department where he served with the Agency for International Development.
Joedy is survived by his children, Joe French Vaughan, Jr. and wife, Elma; William Thomas Vaughan and wife, Mary, and Charles David Vaughan and wife, Andrea; his beloved grandchildren, Matthew, Wendy and Joey Vaughan, Jimmy Pollock, and Jennifer Judy, and his great-grandchildren, Brianna Vaughan, and Brayden and Carson Judy.
He was preceded by in death by his wife of forty-nine years, Janie Elizabeth Guill Vaughan, and his brothers, Curtis, Charles and David Vaughan.

James Edward “Ed” Stallings
September 1, 1920 – March 11, 2013
James Edward “Ed” Stallings, 92, of Middlesex, passed away Monday. Funeral services will be conducted 6:30 p.m. Friday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, Wilson. Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Lee’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Kenneth Benton and Rev. Jack Bryant will officiate.
The family will receive friends immediately following Friday’s service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson and other times at the home.
After participating in the occupation of Japan as a Corporal in the Army, Ed joined his brother Oris as partners in Stallings Brothers Oil Company in 1946 and served the Middlesex Community for over 50 years. He helped in forming the Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department, was on the loan committee for the local bank, and was a member of multiple civic organizations. As a deacon in his home church, Lee’s Chapel Baptist, Ed welcomed all comers to Sunday morning services for over five decades.
Ed is survived by; his son, Dwain Edward Stallings of Middlesex, his granddaughter, Amy Marie Young and husband, Jonathan of Fuquay -Varina; his grandson, Kevin Wayne Harp of Baltimore, MD; his great-granddaughter, Hailey Ava Young of Fuquay-Varina; his great-grandson, Noah James Young of Fuquay-Varina and his sisters, Rachel Coates of Middlesex, Penn Heywood of Asheville and Jo Maxon of Chocowinity.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Christine Spain Stallings; parents, James Noah Stalling and Eva Driver Stallings; his sisters, Ruby McKenzie and Cora Stallings and his brother, Oris Stallings.
