Ray Raymond Shepard, Jr.
January 22, 1946 – April 22, 2013
Ray Raymond Shepard, Jr., 67, of Wilson passed away Monday. The family will receive friends 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at 4818 Country Club Drive.
Ray is survived by his wife, Cathy Glover Shepard of the home; his sister’s, Jan Aydlette and husband, Chuck of Charleston, SC, Alice Plaatje and special friend, Mike of Fort Myers Beach, FL and Gail Boswell and husband, Tommy of Middlesex; his brother, Phil Shepard and wife, Angel of Raleigh and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray Raymond and Ruth Willoughby Shepard.

Linda Jean German
July 10, 1955 – March 4, 2013
Linda Jean German, 57, of Wilson passed away Monday. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Lucas Cemetery, Lucama. The Rev. Ed Earp and the Rev. Sam Cullifer will officiate.
The family will receive friends 7 – 9 p.m. Friday and 12 – 12:45 p.m. Saturday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at the home.
Linda is survived by her husband, Ronald George German of Wilson; her children, Jeannette LoBocchiaro and husband, Dan, Sandra Walton and husband, Timothy and Ronald George German II all of Wilson; grandchildren, Taylor Walton, Daniel LoBocchiaro II, Amber Walton, Hannah Walton, Isabella LoBocchiaro, Joshua LoBocchiaro, Savannah Walton and Andrew LoBocchiaro all of Wilson and her brothers, Jesse W. Johnson of Virginia, Robert E. Johnson of Maryland, John E. Johnson of Virginia and Ronald L. Johnson of Lucama.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse Graham Johnson and Mary Jeannette Johnson; grandson, Brandon Issac LoBocchiaro and her brother, James W. Johnson.

Charles Ruffin Meacombs
September 29, 1932 – May 3, 2013
Charles Ruffin Meacombs, 80, of Middlesex passed away Friday. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Hollywood Cemetery, Middlesex. The Rev. Mike Carter will officiate.
The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Sunday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway, Wilson.
Charles was a member of Watkins Chapel Church, Rogers Lodge # 525 and Shriner 320 – Yorkrite. He was loving brother that will be missed and thought of often with great joy.
Charles is survived by his sisters, Dorothy M. Creech and husband, Odell of Zebulon, Cornelia M. Narron of Pine Level, Betsy M. Boykin of Wendell, Judy M. Fowler and husband, Graham of Zebulon and Brenda M. Denton and husband, George of Knightdale.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Stella Atkinson Meacombs and his sisters, Shirley Narron and Frances Nell Meacombs.

Dorothy Davis Garris
April 20, 1935 – April 8, 2013
Dorothy Davis Garris, 77, of Wilson passed away Monday. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Thursday at Joyner’s Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park. The Rev. Tim McFatter will officiate.
The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Wednesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway and other times at 4524 Matthews Road, Wilson.
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Gail Pierce and husband, Doug of Wilson and Janet Poole and husband, Sammy of Elm City; her granddaughters, Kimberly Pierce and fiancé, Mike Egan, Melissa Summerlin, Lisa Cobb, Allison El-Gamal and husband, Sammy; her grandsons, Derek Cobb, Brentley Cobb and wife, Jodi and Andy Poole; her sisters, Estelle Wells, Virginia Davis and Sally Alphin and her brother, George Davis.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Genn “Bill” Garris.

Betty Lou Medlin
April 17, 1932 – March 13, 2013
Betty Lou Medlin, 80, of Wilson passed away Wednesday. Funeral services will be conducted 7 p.m. Friday at West Wilson Church of God, 3322 NC 42 W, Wilson. Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Bailey Town Cemetery. Bishop Kenneth Johnson will officiate.
The family will receive friends immediately following Friday night service and other times at 4302 River Lake Road, Elm City.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was a friend to all and she was greatly loved and will be missed by many.
Betty is survived by her daughter, Sylvia Medlin Bailey of Wilson; her son, Randy Medlin of Wilson; her granddaughter, Ashley Wilson and husband, Richard of Wilson; her grandsons, Justin Bailey and wife, Ashley of Wilson and Brandon Medlin and wife, Christina of Wilson; her great-grandchildren, Jacob and Kailey Wilson and Nathan and Bentley Medlin; her sisters, Nellie Issette and husband, Pete of Bailey and Lela Cloud of Deland, Florida and her brother, Dewey Brantley and wife, Betty Lou of Bailey.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Horace Medlin; her parents, Jonah Brantley and Sidney Davis Brantley, and her brothers, Percy, Doc, Sam and Teddy Brantley.
Franklin Woodrow Ferrell

Franklin Woodrow Ferrell, 80, of Wilson passed away Monday. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in Maplewood Cemetery. The Rev. Wayne King will officiate.
The family will receive friends 6 – 8 p.m. Tuesday at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road, Wilson.
Woodrow is survived by his wife, Gwen Hayes Ferrell; his daughters, Jensue Ferrell of Manassas, VA and DeLaine Ferrell of Wrightsville Beach; his sisters, Dorothy Ferrell of Chesapeake, VA, Mary Olive Lane of Wilson and Yvonne Robertson of Richmond, VA; his brother, Charles Ray Ferrell, Sr. of Wilson; his grandsons, Jameson Willoughby of Manassas, VA and Gregory Futch of Wrightsville Beach and his granddaughter, Bailey Futch of Wrightsville Beach.

Clarence Mitchell Bass

Clarence Mitchell Bass, 53, of Wilson passed away Saturday. Funeral services will be conducted 7 p.m. Monday at Joyner’s Funeral Home with Pastor Paula Griffin. Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday in Black Creek Cemetery with Rev. Ray Wells.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Joyner’s Funeral Home, 4100 Raleigh Road Parkway.
Clarence is survived by his sister, Cynthia Bass of Wilson and his brother, Tom Bass.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dewey Thomas Bass and Arwhnia Ann Lawrence Bass.
