William Kee
HICKORY - Mr. William Kee, 59, of 335 14th Ave. Drive, S.W., died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory.
Born in Cleveland County Feb. 11, 1942, he was the son of Bessie Howell Lumpkin of Hickory and the late John B. Kee. He worked for Piedmont Natural Gas Co. and belonged to Morning Star First Baptist Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Betty Grier Kee of the home; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Michael and Denise Grier Kee of Hickory and Ricky Hunter of Shelby; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Pamela and Melvin Ramseur of Hickory, Joyce and Jeffrey Epps of Shelby and Windy Grier of Hickory; two sisters, Jane Lumpkin of Stone Mountain, Ga., and Phyllis Lumpkin of Marietta, Ga.; and 14 grandchildren.
The funeral will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at Morning Star First Baptist Church with the Rev. Webster Lytle officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour before the service.
Allen Mitchell Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Lottie Ross
GROVER - Ms. Lottie Ross, 91, of Dixon Dairy Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by J.W. Gill and Sons Funeral Home, Kings Mountain.

Dale Blanton
MOORESBORO - Mr. Dale Robert Henderson Blanton, 60, of 148 Sawmill Road, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at his home.
Born in Cleveland County, he was self-employed and owned Blanton Logging and Sawmill Co. He was the son of the late B.H. and Margaret Greene Blanton.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leta Littman Blanton, and three brothers, Joe, James, and Crawford Long.
He is survived by two sons, Jeffrey Todd Blanton and his wife, Ruth, of Leon, Iowa, and David Henderson Blanton and his wife, Crissy, of Boiling Springs; a daughter, Sandra B. Drake and her husband, Lee, of Mooresboro, and seven grandchildren, Hannah and Samuel Blanton, Megan Drake, Jessa and Mary Blanton, and Bridget and Paul Melton.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cleveland Memorial Park with the Rev. Keith Dixon officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 tonight at Cecil M. Burton Funeral Home.

Charles Wiggins
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Charles Wiggins, 61, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at Kings Mountain Hospital.
Born in Greer, S.C., he was a son of the late William Luther and Rosie Mae Wiggins. He was a retired painter, carpenter and truck driver. He was a Baptist, attended Harvest Assembly in Kings Mountain, and was a charitable man willing to help those in need.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Wiggins, and a brother, Jerome Wiggins.
He is survived by two sons, Charles Keith Wiggins of Bessemer City and Charles Scott Wiggins of Kings Mountain; two daughters, Donna Renee Wiggins of Blacksburg, S.C., and Lisa Marie Laney of Monroe; two brothers, Earl Wiggins and Carol Wiggins, both of Kings Mountain; a sister, Lola Marie Teague of Kings Mountain; a niece, Helen Fletcher of Gastonia; and seven grandchildren, Brandon Lee Wiggins, Lisa Danielle Williams, Anthony Dale Wiggins, Kenneth Roy Rogers, Gina Kathleen Earl, Ronald Dee Sisk and Douglas Eugene Sisk.
The funeral will be Wednesday at noon at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel, with the Rev. Gene Griggs officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Harris Funeral Home one hour before the service.

Ethel Shuford
LAWNDALE - Mrs. Ethel L. Shuford, 85, of 3846 Harris Creek Road, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2002, at her home.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Stamey Funeral Home of Fallston.

Lola Lattimore
ELLENBORO - Mrs. Lola Mae Lattimore, 85, of Friendship Drive, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at White Oak Manor in Rutherfordton.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Webb First Baptist Church in Ellenboro, with the Rev. Michael Moore officiating. The body will be placed in the church one hour before the service. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Thompson Brothers Funeral Home of Forest City is in charge of arrangements.

Randy Gibson
KINGS MOUNTAIN - The Rev. Randy Gibson, 50, of 110-7 Carlin Drive, died Sunday, Jan. 20, 2002, at Solid Rock Freewill Baptist Church in Bessemer City.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 3 p.m. at Solid Rock Freewill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tony Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 9 at the church, and at other times at the home.
Harris Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Hattie Young
HICKORY - Mrs. Hattie Lee Wilson Young, 89, of 511-1st St. SW, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at home.
Born Dec. 30, 1912, in Cleveland County, she was the daughter of the late Pinkey and Carrie Wilson. She was a member of Morningstar First Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, L.Z. Young; two sons, Charles Young and Nelson Young; and three daughters, Edith Young, Kathleen Little and Ellen Sue Young.
She is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law, Lillie and Horace Greene of Hickory, Betty and Charles Schenck of the home, Katie and James Propst of Conover and Virginia and Robert Shuford of Claremont; a daughter, Edna "Tootsie" Price of Columbus, Ga.; a sister, Mildred Robbs of Waco; 22 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren;, 12 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Morningstar First Baptist Church with the Rev. Webster E. Lytle officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at Allen Mitchell Funeral Home in Hickory.

Vera C. Cash
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mrs. Vera Cole Cash, 93, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at Kings Mountain Hospital Extended Care.
The funeral will be today at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Kings Mountain. Burial will be in Mountain Rest Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service in the church parlor.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 786, Kings Mountain, N.C., or to Penley's Chapel, P.O. Box 2023, Kings Mountain, N.C.

Madge McGimsey
FOREST CITY - Mrs. Madge Allen McGimsey, 79, of 562 Doggett Road, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Rutherford Hospital.
The funeral will be 3 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Barry K. Keys officiating. Burial will be in Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at her home. The body will remain at Padgett and King Mortuary where friends may call until 9 tonight.
Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church, 211 West Main St., Forest City, NC 28043, or to the Madge McGimsey Scholarship Fund at Chase High School.

Alice Hipp
SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Mrs. Alice Ayers Hipp, 91, a longtime resident of Fairforest, died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care.
A native of Goodlettsville, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late James Moses and Georgia Allen Ayers. She was a retired school teacher, having taught for 39 years at Fairforest Elementary School, where she was once honored as "Teacher of the Year." She was a member of Fairforest Baptist Church where she was the minister of music for 48 years. She was honored by Christian Supply with "The Heart of a Servant" award. She was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and Asheville Normal Teachers College where she was named "A Woman of Substance." She had been the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Leonard Hipp.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Paula Hipp of Boiling Springs; two grandchildren, Jada Hipp and Bryce Hipp, both of Boiling Springs; two nieces, Ann Otts and Joy Timmons, both of Spartanburg.
The funeral will be today at 3 p.m. at Fairforest Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Pruitt and Dr. James C. Hilton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:45 p.m. today before the service at the church.
Memorials may be made to the Fairforest Baptist Church Music Ministry, P.O. Box 338, Fairforest, SC 29336.

Rose Gibson
FOREST CITY - Mrs. Rose Ellen Brookshire Gibson, 60, of 143 Mountain View St., died Friday, Jan. 18, 2002, at her home.
The funeral was Saturday in the chapel of Padgett and King Mortuary with Dr. Bobby Gantt officiating.
Burial was in Oak Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Howard Reynolds
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Howard Edward Reynolds, 69, of 527 St. Luke's Church Road, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at Cleveland Regional Medical Center.
The funeral will be Monday at 4 p.m. at Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel of Harris Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Drive, Shelby, NC 28150.

'Greg' Griggs
KINGS MOUNTAIN - Mr. Gary Cooper "Greg" Griggs, 47, of 338 Bridges Circle, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2002, at University Hospital in Charlotte.
The family will be at the home of his sister and brother-in-law, Francis and Joe Haynes at 1002 Hemlock Drive, Shelby.
Funeral arrangements will be announced by Genesis Funeral Service and Chapel, Shelby.

Julia Renfro
CHERRYVILLE - Mrs. Julia Scruggs Renfro, 84, of 705 E. Academy St., died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at home.
A native of Mitchell County, she was born Feb. 21, 1917, a daughter of the late Robert Hubert and Osa Scruggs Renfro. She was a retired Gaston County Schools teacher with 42 years service, 17 years being at Cherryville High School. She was a 1937 graduate of Appalachian State University and received a master's degree from
the university in 1961. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for 40 years.
She is survived by three brothers and two sisters-in-law, John and Dorothy Renfro of Parkersburg, W.Va., Robert Renfro of Johnson City, Tenn., and Charles and Betty Renfro of Melbourne, Fla.; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Frances Sistire.
The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church with the Revs. Joel Jenkins, Ken Gibson and Perry Holleman officiating. Burial will be in Sandy Run Baptist Church Cemetery in Mooresboro.
The family will receive friends today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Carpenters Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Family Life Center, 301 First St., Cherryville, NC 28021
