Alfred Husen

Alfred F. Husen, 79, of Grand Island died Thursday, April 6, 2000, at his home.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Don Larmore will officiate. Mr. Husen was cremated. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery at Wood River.

Memorials are suggested to St. Francis Hospice or the Blessed Sacrament Parish Center.

Kleine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Husen was born icon on March 12, 1921, in Grand Island to Henry J. and Augusta (Marth) Husen. They lived in Grand Island. As a young boy, he moved with his parents to Alda, where he graduated from high school.

He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps near Burwell for two years. He moved to Chicago and worked at a steel manufacturing business for two years.

'Dorothy' Jenneman

Alma "Dorothy" M. Jenneman, 88, of Grand Island died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at the Tiffany Square Care Center of Grand Island.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home Chapel in Grand Island. The Rev. John Douglas Russell will officiate. Burial will be in the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation with the casket closed will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7 p.m. at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Mrs. Jenneman was born icon June 22, 1911, to Henry and Emma (Boltz) Doelling at Lodge Pole. She grew up and was educated on farms in the Chapman and Grand Island areas.

She married Francis "Dutch" Jenneman on Jan. 25, 1933, at Grand Island. The couple lived in Grand Island. From 1930 until 1942, she owned and operated the Ideal Beauty Shop in Grand Island. In 1972, the couple moved to North Platte. In April 1973, Mr. Jenneman died and she moved back to Grand Island. In 1979, she moved to California and in 1990 she returned to Grand Island.

She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, where she worked in the nursery. She also was a member of Mount Cross Lutheran Church in Camarillo, Calif., where she worked in the nursery.

Survivors include one son, William of Grand Island; one daughter, Rosetta (Mrs. David) Lambiotte of Camarillo, Calif.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Bill Doelling of Cottage Grove, Ore., and two sisters, Louise Nelson of Grand Island and Lillie King of Salem, Ore.

Other than her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Herman, two sisters, Anna and Clara and a great-grandson.

Elmer Petzoldt

Elmer W. Petzoldt, 81, of 2309 W. Fourth, died Friday, April 7, 2000, at Tiffany Square Care Center.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to St. Pauls Lutheran Church or the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Petzoldt was born icon July 30, 1918, on a farm west of St. Libory. He attended rural school and began farming.

He married Ruby Spiehs on March 15, 1944, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island. He entered the U.S. Army during World War II and served from June 1945 until August 1946. Upon his return from the service he again farmed near St. Libory. After two years he moved to a farm in Hamilton County where he farmed until his retirement in 1991. The couple then moved into Grand Island.

He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, the Platt-Duetsche Society and American Legion Post 300 of Doniphan. He enjoyed card playing.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Carol (Mrs. Wayne) Schroeder of Grand Island; one son, Lavern of Doniphan; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one brother, Alfred of Grand Island.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ted and Arnold.

Edd McCain

BURWELL -- Edd McCain, 74, of Burwell died Friday, April 7, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.

Services are pending with Eberle-Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell.

Elizabeth Arends

Elizabeth M. Arends, 86, of the Nebraska Veteran's Home died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church on Friday at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Frank Hoelck will officiate. Burial will be at the St. Libory Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the church with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to Blessed Sacrament Family Center or the United Ostomy Association.

Mrs. Arends was born icon Jan. 24, 1914, at St. Libory to Louis and Olga (Grotz) Trentman. She grew up and received her schooling in the St. Libory Community.

She married Louis Arends on Nov. 7, 1925, at St. Libory where they lived except for a few years in Grand Island when Mr. Arends worked for the Union Pacific Railroad. Mrs. Arends worked at the Lone Tree Cafe in St. Libory and at the St. Paul Bakery and at Delicious Foods Company of Grand Island.

Mrs. Arends was a member of the Catholic faith and St. Libory Parish until she retired and moved to Grand Island in 1978. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Parish, Altar society, Confraternity of Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughter Court Queen of Peace, Auxiliary Member of Legion of Mary and the United Ostomy Association. She was a quilter at Blessed Sacrament for many years and a Grand Generation Center volunteer. She moved to the Nebraska Veterans Home in 1991.

Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Cathy Arends; two grandchildren, Amy (Mrs. Tom) Brand and Emily Arends; and one great-granddaughter, all of Sandy, Utah.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1969; one son, Donald in 1997 and a brother, Alphose Trentman.

Dr. R.H. Donley

Dr. R.H. Donley, 87, of Grand Island died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at his home.

Dr. Donley was cremated. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the family.

Dr. Donley was born icon on Feb. 17, 1913, at Taloga, Okla., to Harrison and Elsie (Fields) Donley. He graduated from high school in Taloga and then attended the University of Nebraska Dental School in Lincoln.

He married Joan Bicknell on May 25, 1938, in Lincoln. The couple lived in North Platte.

Dr. Donley entered the U.S. Army in July 1941 and served in World War II as a dentist. He was honorably discharged with the rank of major on April 1, 1953.

He returned to North Platte, where he owned a dental practice before moving to Grand Island. He was associated with Dr. Howard Yost until his retirement in 1978.

Dr. Donley was a past state president of the Nebraska Orthodontics Association and a lifetime member of the American Dental Association and the American Orthodontics Association.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Patricia (Mrs. Howard) Hale of Minatare; one grandchild; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mildred Foster of Alabama and Leona Slatton of Houston.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Shannon McCray.

'T.J.' Reed

Thomas "T.J. " Reed, 34, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the All Faiths Funeral Home, 2929 S. Locust,. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until service time Sunday at the funeral home.

A Memorial has been established through Mid-Nebraska Individual Services.

'Bea' Wiese

Beatrice L. "Bea" Wiese, 68, of 2516 Pioneer Blvd. died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at her home after a long illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The Rev. Joel Schroeder will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with the family receiving friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Thursday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.

Memorials are suggested to the St. Francis Hospice, St. Pauls Lutheran Church Building Fund or the donor's choice.

Mrs. Wiese was born icon on Jan. 20, 1932, in Grand Island to Warren and Thelma (Ball) Kensinger. She grew up in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1950.

She married Jack Wiese on June 7, 1951, in Los Angeles, where he was stationed in the U.S. Marine Corps. While her husband served overseas, she moved back to Grand Island. Her husband joined her after the service, and they opened the Boat House, which they operated until November 1999.

She was a member of the Galaxy Gals Extension Club, the Monday Quilters and the Prairie Pioneer Quilters.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Wendy (Mrs. Craig) DeNoyer of Grand Island; three grandchildren; a brother, Wes Kensinger of Grand Island; and a sister, Dianna Dunning of Grand Island.

She was preceded in death by a son, John; and a sister, Doris Beran.

Frank Cernousek

FULLERTON -- Frank Joseph Cernousek, 88, of Fullerton died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at the Boone County Health Center in Albion.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Wenselvaus Catholic Church in Verdigre. The Rev. Michael Malloy will officiate. Burial will be in St. Wenselvaus Catholic Cemetery in Verdigre.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m., with a 7 p.m. wake service, Friday at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Verdigre.

Mr. Cernousek was born icon on March 26, 1912, in Knox County to Joseph and Bessie (Somr) Cernousek. He grew up in Knox County and attended country schools.

He married Velma Parkhurst on April 27, 1938, in Knox County. They farmed in Knox County for more than 50 years. They moved to Verdigre in 1974 and to Fullerton in 1999.

Mr. Cernousek enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He was a member of St. Wenselvaus Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus at Verdigre.

Survivors include his wife; one daughter, Angie (Mrs. Gerald) Farrier of Fullerton; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Chilar and Bessie Kane.

Marge Bendig

AURORA -- Marge Bendig, 69, of Aurora died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Arbor Manor in Fremont.

Services are pending with Higby Mortuary in Aurora.
