Ione Dilsaver
TAYLOR -- Ione Aileen Dilsaver, 69, died Monday, April 3, 2000, at her home west of Taylor.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Marcia C. Smith Auditorium in Taylor. Fred Cram will officiate. Burial will be in Madison Square Cemetery west of Taylor.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Rhoad Funeral Home in Sargent.
Memorials are suggested to the family or the Madison Square Cemetery Fund.
Mrs. Dilsaver was born
on April 4, 1930, at Lawrence to Frank Roy and Myrtle Aileen (Avers) Hoins. She attended country school in Loup County and graduated from high school in Loup County in 1947.
She taught for one year at Knobby Ridge School.
She married Lyle Vernon Dilsaver on Jan. 16, 1948, in Ord. The couple lived in Madison Square all their lives. Mrs. Dilsaver sold Avon and veterinarian supplies. She also was a waitress and cook for cafes in Sargent and Taylor.
Mrs. Dilsaver belonged to the Madison Square Ladies Club, Legion Auxiliary Post 106 in Sargent and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Taylor.
She enjoyed quilting, knitting and embroidery.
Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Diane Proskocil of Ord; two sons, Tom of Big Springs and Duane of Genoa; a foster son, Jim Hoobler of Spring Valley, Calif.; six grandchildren; four brothers, Robert Hoins of Hastings, Marvin Hoins of Salt Lake City, Gordon Hoins of Fairfield and Dean of Crete; and four sisters, Helen Sanchez of Colorado Springs, Colo., Karolyn Allbee of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Rosalee Hubl of Atlanta and Judy Sabage of Shelton.
She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas; a sister, Elaine Shubert; and a brother, John Hoins.
Hazel Hanson
GILTNER -- Hazel Irene Hanson, 87, of Giltner died Wednesday, April 5, 2000, at Aurora Memorial Hospital.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Giltner. The Rev. Dwight DeLaet will officiate. Burial will be in the Giltner Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Higby Mortuary.
Mrs. Hanson was born
on Sept. 8, 1912, at Charleston to Delano and Beatrice (Rawlins) McDuffee. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1930 and attended Wayne Teachers College for two years.
She taught in rural and city schools for 12 years.
She married Carold Hanson on June 2, 1940, in Spencer. They moved to Giltner in 1949. Mr. Hanson died on March 13, 1995.
Mrs. Hanson was a member of the United Methodist Church in Giltner, United Methodist Women's Group and the Giltner Women's Club.
Survivors include three daughters, Jeanine (Mrs. Mike) Fink of Battle Creek, Jane (Mrs. Dave) Smith of Giltner and Cheryl (Mrs. Mike) Collinson of Doniphan; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Bruce McDuffee of Primrose.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Dorothy Warnick
OSCEOLA -- Dorothy W. Warnick, 80, of Osceola, formerly of Polk, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at the Osceola Good Samaritan Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Palmer Funeral Home in Stromsburg. The Rev. Willis Pauls will officiate. Burial will be in the Polk Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Miss Warnick was born
on Dec. 29, 1919, on a farm east of Polk to Charles Albert and Lenora Florence (Johnson) Warnick. She attended District 26 School near Polk. After her education, she lived on the family farm, where she was a homemaker for her parents and then her brother.
Due to her health, she moved to the Osceola Good Samaritan Center on Aug. 6, 1990.
Survivors include one brother, Leonard Warnick of Polk; and one sister, Marjorie Ehn of Polk.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert Lowell Warnick, Elmer Warnick and Virgil Walter Warnick; and one sister, Muriel Rinterman.
Nina Rael
POLK -- Nina Marie Rael, 32, of Polk died Monday, April 3, 2000, in York.
Services will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Sterling House in Grand Island. Additional services and burial will be in Clatskanie, Ore.
Metz Mortuary of York is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Rael was born
on Sept. 9, 1967, at Boise, Idaho, to Winford Lee and Eudora Helen (Johnson) Buchanan.
She worked at the Sterling House in Grand Island.
Survivors include five sons, Jeffrey Lee Bowden, Timothy Bowden, Dominic Rael, Brian Thomas and Thomas Powers; a daughter, Brianna Rael; her father, of Pahrump, Nev.; a brother, Brian Buchanan of Polk; and two sisters, Michelle Naranjo of Portland, Ore., and Branda Taylor of Polk.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Helen Johnson.
Charles Ridder
LAKE ZURICH, Ill. -- Charles A. Ridder, 56, of Lake Zurich, Ill., formerly of Callaway, died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at his home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Boniface's Catholic Church in Callaway. The Rev. Jim Novakowski will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Callaway.
Govier Brothers Mortuary of Broken Bow is in charge of arrangements.
Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association.
Mr. Ridder was born
on Jan. 8, 1944, at Callaway to Aloysius H. and Lucille E. (Snyder) Ridder. He graduated from Callaway High School in 1962 and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1967.
He married Jaynanne McCreary in August 1964 in Lincoln. They lived in the Chicago area. Mr. Ridder worked for Allstate Insurance for 31 years.
He was an avid golfer and a Nebraska football fan.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Tracie (Mrs. Stephen) Wertz of Westchester, Ill., Jacqueline (Mrs. Greg) Gentili of Naperville, Ill., Mandy (Mrs. Kenneth) Steinhauer of Los Angeles and Lucille Ridder of Callaway; a grandson; a sister, Mercella Swearingen of El Paso, Texas; and three brothers, Richard Ridder of Callaway, Harold Ridder of Lincoln and Ronald Ridder of Kearney.
Elizabeth Sweeney
STRASBURG, Colo. -- Elizabeth M. "Betty" Sweeney, 96, of Strasburg, Colo., died Monday, April 3, 2000.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Our Lady of the Plains Catholic Church in Byeres, Colo. Further services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greeley. The Rev. Jerry Carlson will officiate. Burial will be in the O'Connor Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at the church.
Memorials are suggested to the Prairie Creeks Living Center.
Curran Funeral Chapel of Grand Island is in charge of local arrangements.
Mrs. Sweeney was born
on May 20, 1903, at O'Connor to John and Johanna (Cahill) Mulchay. She was educated in O'Connor.
She married Dan Sweeney, and they lived in O'Connor before moving to Broken Bow. The couple moved to Strasburg, Colo., in 1950. Mr. Sweeney died in February 1985.
Mrs. Sweeney taught school in several communities.
Survivors include four sons, William J. Sweeney of Missoula, Mont., Thomas J. Sweeney of Littleton, Colo., F. Eugene Sweeney of St. Louis and Gerald L. Sweeney of Strasburg, Colo.; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Joseph Mulchay of Portland, Ore.
She was preceded in death by seven brothers, Paul, Gerald, Robert, James, Jack, Edward and Bill.
Elizabeth Arends
Elizabeth M. Arends, 86, of the Nebraska Veteran's Home died Sunday, April 2, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. The Rev. Frank Hoelck will officiate. Burial will be at the St. Libory Catholic Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the church with a rosary at 7:30.
Memorials are suggested to Blessed Sacrament Family Center or the United Ostomy Association. Kleine Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Arends was born
Jan. 24, 1914, at St. Libory to Louis and Olga (Grotz) Trentman. She grew up and received her schooling in St. Libory.
She married Louis Arends on Nov. 7, 1925, at St. Libory where they lived except for a few years when Mr. Niemoth worked for the Union Pacific Railroad and the couple lived in Grand Island. Mrs. Niemoth worked at the Lone Tree Cafe in St. Libory, the St. Paul Bakery and at Delicious Foods Company of Grand Island.
Mrs. Arends was a member of St. Libory Parish until she retired and moved to Grand Island in 1978. She was a member of the Blessed Sacrament Parish, Altar society, Confraternity of Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughter Court Queen of Peace, Auxiliary Member of Legion of Mary and the United Ostomy Association. She quilted at Blessed Sacrament for many years and was a Grand Generation Center volunteer. She moved to the Nebraska Veterans Home in 1991. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Cathy Arends; two grandchildren, Amy (Mrs. Tom) Brand and Emily Arends; and one great-granddaughter, all of Sandy, Utah.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1969; one son, Donald in 1997 and a brother, Alphose Trentman.
Erline Britton
Erline C. Britton, 77, of Grand Island, died Monday, April 3, 2000, at her home.
Services are will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sargent. The Rev. Bernard M. Berger will officiate. There will be no burial or visitation because Mrs. Britton donated her body to the Anatomical Board.
Memorials are suggested to Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Grand Island or the family. Apfel-Butler-Geddes Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Britton was born
Sept. 19, 1922, to Joseph and Myrtle (Miller) Mitchel at Hallettsville, Texas. She grew up and attended school in Victoria, Texas.
She married Marlin A. Britton on July 21, 1945, at Victorville, Calif. After living in California, they moved to Taylor, where they farmed. She was a homemaker, and later worked as a bookkeeper for Loup County Public School. They moved to Grand Island in 1985. She started working for Hall County Housing Authority in 1986 and retired in 1991.
She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Gary of Lincoln and Alan C. of Syracuse; one daughter, Carol Ann (Mrs. Reid) Wells of Ashton; seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband and one sister, Maurine McCurdy.
