Clifford W. Rabe
WILCOX - Clifford Woodrow Rabe, 87, of Wilcox, brother of Darrell Rabe and brother-in-law of Russell Stutzman, both of Chappell, died March 13, 2001, at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege.
He was born at Dalton to George Herman and Margaret Sarah Jones Rabe. He graduated from high school at Sidney in 1931.
On Feb. 18, 1939, he married Hazel Munshaw at Harris.
On Aug. 20, 1950, he was married to Louisa Margelene Woollen at the Community Church in Wilcox.
Mr. Rabe is survived by his wife Louisa of Holdrege; a daughter, Jacque Reiser of Omaha; three sons, Scott (Kerry) of Jay Em, Wyo., Randy (DeAnn) of Bertrand and Tim of rural Wilcox; a brother, Darrell Rabe of Chappell; a brother-in-law, Russell Stutzman of Chappell; nine grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel; a son, Gary Dean his parents; a sister, Norma Jean Stutzman; a sister-in-law, Loretta; and a brother, Lyle.
Memorials are suggested to the Wilcox United Methodist Church Building Fund.
Masonic funeral services provided by Jachin Lodge 146 AF & AM of Holdrege will be at 2 p.m. today at the United Methodist Church in Wilcox with the Revs. James Mote and Warren and Jean Alnor officiating. Burial will be in the Freewater Cemetery with flag presentation by the Wilcox American Post 377.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. today at the church.

Hazel M. Young
Hazel M. Young, 95, of North Platte died March 14, 2001, at Great Plains Regional Medical Center in North Platte.
She was born May 16, 1905, at Hershey to Melville J. and Daisy Dell Murray. She spent all of her life in the North Platte area. During World War II, she helped with the North Platte Canteen.
She was employed as a private nurse.
On Aug. 19, 1922, she married Oakie Young.
She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church. She enjoyed reading.
Mrs. Young is survived by two daughters, Dolores (Alton) Bockus of Sacramento, Calif., and Marion (James) Pillow of Clear Lake Oaks, Calif.; two sons, Blaine of Corvallis, Ore., and Robert of Grand Island; numerous grandchildren, including Peggy (Jerry) Borron of North Platte; and numerous great-grandchildren, including Elizabeth (Chris) Baker of North Platte.
She was preceded in death by her husband; two daughters, Rosemary and Sharon Rose Young; and a brother, Lloyd Murray.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Steven Bell officiating. Burial will be in the North Platte Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. at Carpenter Memorial Chapel in North Platte.
Darold James Raburn
HAIGLER - Darold James Raburn, 68, of Haigler, formerly of Grant, died March 6, 2001, at his home in Haigler of pancreatic cancer.
He was born Aug. 6, 1932, in Lebanon to Floyd and Viola Hale Raburn. He graduated from Cambridge High School in 1949. In 1952, he joined the U.S. Navy and served four years as a control tower operator.
In 1957, he married Sharon Odean in Lincoln. He graduated form the University of Nebraska College of Pharmacy in 1960. In 1982, after owning two pharmacies in Broken Bow and Grant, he purchased the Seier Drug in Wray, Colo. In April 1995, he sold the pharmacy and retired, then began helping at the Shop-All Pharmacy.
He was involved in the Masonic Lodge in Bartley, the Scottish Rite of Lincoln, the American Legion of Haigler and the University of Nebraska Alumni Association.
Mr. Raburn is survived by his wife; two daughters, Nancy (Ken) Vasa of Salem, Ore., and Peg Raburn of Hays, Kan.; a son Ted (Jill) of Claremore, Okla.; his mother; his mother-in-law, Mae Odean of North Platte; two brothers, Joe (Lorene) Raburn of Cambridge and Harold Marian Raburn of Holdrege; nine grandchildren, Josh Jones of Laramie, Wyo., Ashley Raburn of McCook, Sarah and Mackenzie Raburn of Hays, Evan and Ali Vasa of Salem, and Katie, Daniel and Jenny Raburn of Claremore, Okla.; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
The body was cremated and there will be private family services at a later date.

Joe Holmstedt
PAXTON - Robert "Joe" Holmstedt, 78, of Paxton died March 15, 2001, at his residence.
He was born June 7, 1922, to Oscar and Mary Braman Holmstedt at their home north of Paxton. He graduated from Paxton High School.
On Aug. 26, 1947, he married Elizabeth "Betty" Perlinger in Paxton.
He served on the county school board and the Paxton Town Board, and as a volunteer fireman for 20 years. He belonged to St. Patrick's Catholic Church and served on the church council.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Darlene (Jim) Johnson of Alliance; two sons, Robert "Bob" of Omaha and Tom (Khadij) of Roda, Spain; two sisters, Dorothy Fox of Denver and Carol Wamsley of Lexington; a brother, Berkley (Betty) Holmstedt of Arkansas; and three grandchildren, Brenda Jo Johnson, Rachid Holmstedt and Ashley Holmstedt.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Charles; a sister, Elsie Windels; and 10 brothers, Raleigh, John, Mike, Leland, Richard, Bill, Virgil, Clarence, Paul and Jack.
Memorials are suggested to the Paxton Lions Club and the Paxton Volunteer Fire Department.
Rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. Sunday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church at Paxton. The casket will be opened at the church.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with the Revs. James Janovec and Walter Phelan as celebrants. Burial will be in the Paxton Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Draucker Funeral Home in Ogallala.
Jesse Jeppesen
MADRID — Jesse Jeppesen, 85, former Madrid civic leader, died March 16, 2001, at the Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant.
He was born May 16, 1915, at Papillion to Jeppe and Lena Laing Jeppesen. They moved to Keystone in 1919. He attended rural school and later graduated from Keystone High School in 1933. He farmed with his father until his death in 1949.
On Jan. 5, 1949, he married Eloise Finley at Keystone. They made their home in the Keystone area where he worked for the Department of Agriculture. He began income tax assistance in 1953, and helped file income tax returns. He worked at the Keystone bank from 1959 to 1965, when he moved to Madrid where he became involved with the Security State Bank, which later became Adams Bank. His wife died in 1979.
In November 1980, he married Rosetta "Ann" Searls. He retired from the bank in 1981. they moved to Westview Retirement in Grant in 1981.
He was a member of the Madrid United Methodist Church, the Gideons International, the Madrid Community Club and served on the village board.
Mr. Jeppesen is survived by his wife, Ann; a son, Robert (Karen) of Des Moines, Iowa; a sister, Anna (Lyle) Miller of Sun City, Ariz.; two grandchildren; and stepchildren and their families.
Memorials are suggested to the church, the Gideons, or the Perkins County Health Services Foundation.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Madrid United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bonnie Linton-Hendrick officiating. Burial will be in the Madrid Cemetery.

Allene D. Kleeb
BROKEN BOW — Allene D. Kleeb, 81, of Sargent died March 16, 2001, at the Jennie Melham Hospital in Broken Bow.
She was born Sept. 21, 1919, northwest of Sargent to Arthur H. and Lucy Vanderveen Exley. She grew up in the Blue Mound Community northwest of Sargent and graduated from Sargent High School in 1938.
On Jan. 14, 1941, she married Stewart Kleeb at Ord. With the exception of three years that they lived in Valley County, they had lived in Custer County most of their married lives. In 1947, they bought their farm west of Sargent and had lived there for 35 years. Her husband died Oct. 23, 2000.
She enjoyed gardening and cooking for her friends and family.
Mrs. Kleeb is survived by a daughter, Connie (David) Vincent of Sargent; a son, Tom (Georgia) Kleeb of Sargent; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a great-grandson, Ty Vincent; her parents; and a sister, Elizabeth.
Memorials are suggested to the University of Nebraska Cancer Research Fund.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with the Rev. Marty Robbins officiating. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and from 8 a.m. to service time Tuesday at Govier Brothers Mortuary.
Glenn H. Miller
COZAD — Glenn H. Miller, 90, of Cozad died March 17, 2001, at the Cozad Hospital.
He was born Sept. 15, 1910, at Cozad to George and Minnie Striet Miller. He graduated from Cozad High School in 1927, and worked in the Cozad area. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On Sept. 27, 1947, he married Grace Bennett. They lived at Beatrice where he worked for the city. In 1954, they moved to Cozad where he operated a TV repair shop until 1960. For the next 18 years, they owned and operated the Parkway Bowling Alley in Cozad.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Miller is survived by his wife; a daughter, Barbara (Dennis) Ahrens of Tampa, Fla.; and a sister, Beulah Benham of Flagstaff, Ariz.
He was preceded in death by a son, Duane; and a brother, Lloyd.
Memorials are suggested to the Grand Generation Center.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Fairview Cemetery south of Cozad with the Rev. Debra Tompsett-Welch officiating.
Visitation will be from 1 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Berryman Funeral Home in Cozad.
Gladys J. Nida
BROKEN BOW — Gladys Juanita Nida, 84, of Broken Bow died March 16, 2001, at the Jennie Melham Hospital in Broken Bow.
She was born Feb. 27, 1917, to Carl and Ruth Carlson in Potter. She graduated form Venango High School in 1953, and moved with her family to Custer County, where she was a nurses' aide at Carother's Hospital.
On Feb. 27, 1939, she married Freeman H. Nida, and they lived near Merna. In 1952, they moved to Merna and in 1986, she moved to Sandhills Manor in Broken Bow. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Merna
Mrs. Nida is survived by a stepdaughter, Maxine (Walter) Yohn of Tucson, Ariz.; a son, Bill of Grand Island; a daughter in law, Betty Nida of Fort Morgan, Colo.; two sisters, Mrs. Duff Porter of Arcadia and Mrs. Dale Ondrak of Ravenna; three sisters-in-law; nine grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant daughter, Jennifer; two stepsons, Garland and Milford; a granddaughter, Mary; a great-grandson, Layne; her parents; and three brothers.
Memorials are suggested to the Sandhills Manor Activity Fund or the Custer County Hospice.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow with the Rev. Doug Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Custer Center Cemetery west of Broken Bow.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to service time Monday at the funeral home.
David Arellano
GRAND ISLAND - David Arellano of Grand Island, a former resident of North Platte, died March 17, 2001, at his home following a long illness. He was 75.
He was born April 20, 1925, at Wichita, Kan., to Thomas and Guadalupe Marruffo Arellano. He was raised and educated in the North Platte area.
On June 25, 1950, he married Ruth Moreno.
On Sept. 27, 1997, he married Ofilia Avila. He worked for Union Pacific Railroad and then the Burlington Northern Railroad. He retired in 1987.
Mr. Arellano was a member of the Cristo La Roca Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ofilia; three daughters, Sandra Hill of Grand Island, Rose Waymire of Glenvil and Gloria Arellano of Omaha; three sons, Frank Hill of Sarasota, Fla., David Arellano Jr. of Minden and John Arellano of Hastings; three sisters; four brothers; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Brandon Watts; and two sisters, Mary Franco and Julia Solano.
Memorials are suggested to the family.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the All Faiths Funeral Home in Grand Island with the Rev. Yolanda Arceo officiating. Burial will be in the Kearney Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today, with a Christian Wake service at 7 p.m., at the All Faiths Funeral Home.
