Donald W. Johnston passed away June 2, 2002. A lifelong resident of Albuquerque/Bernalillo, he is survived by his sons, Donald, Patrick and wife, Tina, Douglas and wife, Emma, Phillip and wife, Jan; 12 grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and his sister, Virginia Wisecoff of El Paso, TX. Those of us who knew him will remember his sense of humor and his love of life. Donald proudly served in the U.S. Air Force, he was an active member of the Solo Club, and was employed by the Town of Bernalillo and previously the City of Albuquerque. Memorial Services will be held at Holy Rosary 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW on June 5, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the residence of Patrick and Tina Johnston, 1302 Barelas SW. A Private Interment for family members only will take place in Santa Fe on June 6, 2002. Honorary Pallbearers, Bill Bollen, Douglas Johnston, James Johnston, Stephen Johnston, and Joseph Johnston.

Alma Lindquist, 101. A 1 1/ 2 year resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, June 3, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Doris Lindquist of Riverdale, IL; son, Rolf Lindquist and wife, Sheila of Albuquerque; granddaughters, Julie Lindquist and husband, Rich Hallstein and Gwendolen Lindquist; grandson, Rolf Borneman and wife, Laura Wacha; and great-grandchildren, Jonas Hallstein and Milo Wacha Borneman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nels Lindquist in 1991. Mrs. Lindquist was a beloved mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Services will be held Thursday, June 6, 2002, 1:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE. Interment will take place at Oakland Memory Lanes in Calumet City, IL. Friends may visit French Mortuary, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, at 12:30 p.m.

Mr. Ernest Lucero died Monday June 3, 2002 in Albuquerque at the age of 52. He is survived by his wife, Eslinda Gutierrez; son, Joshua Lucero; daughter, Jessica Lucero; brothers, Manuel Lucero, Elfego Lucero Jr., Joe Lucero, George Montoya; sisters, Patsy Lucero, Lorraine Lucero, Kathy Galvan, Gloria Lucero Aurelia Blea. Funeral Services for Mr. Lucero will be held on Thursday at San Ignacio Church where Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary. Pallbearers will be Tommy Galvan, Tommy Galvan Jr. Johnny Galvan Silvestre Galvan. There will a Rosary for Mr. Lucero Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary 400 Third ST. SW.

Candelario Luna, 87, beloved and devoted husband, father and grandfather was called home to be with the Lord our Savior, Monday, June 3, 2002. Mr. Luna was born in Albuquerque on February 14, 1915 to the late Amadeo and Sofia Luna; he was a resident of San Ysidro, NM; he was a proud Veteran of the United States Navy who served our country during World War II. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Alice Mabel Luna of the family home; one son, Henry Luna and wife, Alba; two daughters, Priscilla Van Antwerp and husband, Harold, and Teresa Luna and husband, Stuart McRae; eight grandchildren, Mary Van Antwerp, Darlene Neira and husband, Al, David Van Antwerp and wife, Jackie, Joseph Dickerson, John Dickerson and wife, Berna, Lisa Lasiewicki and husband, Paul, Noelia Sucet and husband, Leandro, and Darius Alban Luna and wife, Paola; great-grandchildren, Jennifer, Thomas, Nathan, Kate, Logan, Cameron, Alyssa, Leandra, Djavan, Luan, Austin and Marina. Mr. Luna will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those who knew and loved him. Visitations will be held today from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Alameda Mortuary; where a Rosary will be recited this evening at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian will be celebrated Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. at San Ysidro Catholic Church in San Ysidro, NM. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Casket bearers will be his grandchildren, John, Joe, David, Darius, Noelia and Lisa. Honorary bearers will be Darlene, and nephew Frank Garcia. Ray Milton Martin (Ray), 85, peacefully passed away at his home in Belen, NM on Monday, June 03, 2002. He was born May 17, 1917 in Emporia, KS; and was a resident of Belen since 1940. During his teenage years and early twenties he was a working cowboy in New Mexico and Tucson, AZ. After moving to Belen, Ray worked 37 years on the Santa Fe Railroad as a fireman and locomotive engineer. He was active in the BFLE and Locomotive Engineers and was one of the past Presidents. Ray is a 32nd degree Mason at the Masonic Lodge #56 of Belen; Jasmine order of Eastern Star #45 and the Santa Fe Scottish Rite Valley. Preceding him in death were his wife of 63 years, Roberta "Maxine" Martin in 2001; his father, Glenn; his mother, Francis his stepmother, Myrtle; and all of his siblings. He is survived by his son, Michael and his wife, Judy; his daughters, Peggy M. Hainsworth and her husband, Kenneth, Terry Sue Gray and her husband, Kenneth; his grandsons, Shawn Martin of Lincoln, NB, Ryan Gray of Montrose, CO, Kevin and his wife, Jennifer of Albuquerque, NM, and Cory Gray also of Albuquerque, NM; granddaughters, Rebekah Martin Hainsworth of Belen and Christy M. Martin of El Paso, TX; and his great-grandchildren, Robin and Rhonda Martin. Ray also leaves behind loving nieces and nephews; along with many acquaintances and friends. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at the Romero Funeral Home on Thursday, June 06 at 4:30pm conducted by the Masonic Lodge #56 and officiated by the Reverend Boyd Morerod of the First Baptist Church of Los Chavez. Eleanor Ann Gillett Mauzy, died peacefully at home May, 20, 2002. Born in Santa Fe in 1918, she was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Pearl Gillett; and her husband, Wayne. Mrs. Mauzy is survived by her children, Ann Mauzy, Sali Harrison and Ben Mauzy; grandchildren, Willy Kopansky and Mariah Harrison; and many dear friends. She attended Mills College and graduated from UCLA. She was a longtime employee of the New Mexico Highway Department. She and her husband were among the original volunteers for the Santa Fe Opera, and she was a longtime member of the Women's Board of the Museum of New Mexico and The Church Of The Holy Faith Altar Guild. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Museum of New Mexico Foundation, P.O. Box 2065, Santa Fe, NM 87504, or the Santa Fe Opera Guild, P.O. Box 2371, Santa Fe, NM 87504. A Memorial Service of the Resurrection and Holy Eucharist was celebrated on Friday, May 24, 2002 at 12:00 noon at The Church Of The Holy Faith, 311 East Place Ave. with the Rev. Gilbert Montano, 87, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend was called home to be with the Lord our Savior, Monday, June 3, 2002. Gilbert was born in San Pedro, NM; and was a resident of Bernalillo. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Julia Montano of the family home; his children, James Montano and wife, Julia of Rio Rancho, Arthur Montano and wife, Bertha of El Paso, TX, George Montano and wife, Rita, Larry Montano and wife, Lydia both of Bernalillo, Pat Montano and wife Viola of Albuquerque, Clyde Montano and wife, Joyce of Rio Rancho, Christine Montano of Albuquerque, and Elizabeth Abeyta and husband Robert of Albuquerque; a very close friend of the family, Edna Yoder of Albuquerque; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; four brothers, Daniel Montano of Bernalillo, Mike Montano of Rio Rancho, Felipe Montano of Tucson, AZ, and Utilia Velez of San Antonio, TX. Gilbert will be greatly missed by his loving family and by those who knew and loved him. Visitations will be today from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Las Placitas Presbyterian Church in Placitas, NM; where Evening services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. tonight. Our beloved Ever Mae Morgan was born in Paris, Texas on October 7, 1912. Mother professed Christ as her personal savior at an early age. When the family moved their home to the Northeast Heights, it became apparent to her, and other area residents and military personnel that a church in the vicinity would be a blessing. In 1953, the foundation for New Hope Missionary Baptist Church was conceived. Mother was one of the original 10 founding members. She was a faithful member and worked in several capacities. As the church grew, she was named one of the church "Mothers" and was affectionately called "Mama Morgan ". When New Hope moved to its present location, Bishop Cooper and church family honored her by naming the multipurpose hall the "Ever Mae Morgan Fellowship Hall ". She was preceded in her death by her husband, Hillard; and eldest daughter, Edna Mae Wright. Her five remaining children, Frances Morgan-Watkins, Eddie and wife, Lillian Morgan, David Morgan, all of Albuquerque, Robert and wife, Jean Morgan of Hayward, CA, and Vanessa Morris of Frederick, MD; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Catherine Cobbs of Albuquerque, and Beatrice Gray of Las Angeles, CA. Close family cousins, Eva Mae Haynes of Albuquerque and Atha Dillard of Oklahoma City, OK, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous family friends also survive her. Viewing and Services will held at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 1901 Pennsylvania NE.. A viewing will be on Thursday, June 6, 2002 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 7, 2002 with burial following at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Pamela Kay Nazelrod, 46, was born Friday, March 9, 1956. Pam passed from this earth Saturday, June 1, 2002, joining her mother and two children, Jennifer and Dylan. She is survived by her son, Paul Nazelrod of Albuquerque, NM; father, Peter E. Baldwin of Elephant Butte, NM; brother, Peter L. Baldwin and wife, Nancy of McIntosh, NM; sister, Susan Johnson of Albuquerque, NM; special cousin, Leola Fellows of Albuquerque, NM; her "adopted" daughter, Charly Huffman and son Timothee; niece, Wendy Dobbs and husband, Kenneth of Albuquerque, NM; nephews, Kevin Johnson of Port Neches, TX, Brian Baldwin and wife Diane of McIntosh, NM; brother, Rick Hardaway and wife, Cindy of White City, OR, and many other relatives and friends who will all miss her so very much. Pam was a loving and caring nurse at Casa Angelica, where she devoted her time to caring for her kids. The Denver Broncos will have their biggest fan cheering them on from above this year (Maybe she can help Brian Griese get the ball to the right color uniform). Barrett Parsons, 68, a resident of Albuquerque for 34 years, died Sunday, June 2, 2002. He is survived by his former wife, Jane Brodbeck of Page, AZ; sons, Mark Daniel Parsons of Page, AZ and William J. Parsons and wife, Lucy of Albuquerque; grandson, Beau Tanner Parsons of Albuquerque; granddaughter, Haley Brooke Parsons of Albuquerque; and half brother, Thomas Neal Parsons of Westover, WV. Mr. Parsons was born in Terra Alta, WV, on December 21, 1933, the son of his late parents, Charles A. Parsons, Terra Alta, WV and Myrtle Cash Parsons, Albuquerque. He is also preceded in death by his brother, James H. Parsons, Rockville, MD. Mr. Parsons was raised and attended high school in Hamburg, NY, the town where he was wed to Jane Brodbeck. He worked for Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory, Scholarship EE Graduate Studies at UNM followed by employment with BDM International after being laid off by Los Alamos. He was a member of First Christian Church. Services will be held Thursday, June 6, 2002, 10:30 a.m., at French Mortuary, Lomas Blvd. Chapel, 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, with Rev. James E. Ward officiating. William "Bill" D. Petty, age 48, of Glendale, AZ, died Saturday, May 25, 2002. Mr. Petty graduated from Los Alamos High school in 1971, served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1971 to 1974 he then received his Pharmaceutical degree from the University of NM in 1979. He was last employed at Safeway in Phoenix, AZ. He was also employed in the Los Alamos and White Rock area for many years before moving to Phoenix in 1990 and had recently been invited to become a professor at Glendale Community College. He is survived by his father, Roy Petty of Santa Fe; mother, Carol Showers of Albuquerque; stepfather, William Showers of Albuquerque; daughter, Melanie Romero and husband, Shawn of Santa Fe; son, Richard Petty of White Rock; sisters, Lee Ann Waterman and husband Ted of Albuquerque, Dea Renfro of Albuquerque and Sue Harper and husband Ron of Los Alamos; grandson, Richard Romero of Santa Fe; granddaughter: Meghan Romero of Santa Fe; five nieces and nephews and their families. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bill Petty Memorial fund at Los Alamos National Bank, account # 0003382920. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, June 5, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church in Los Alamos, NM. Interment will follow in Guaje Pines. John W. Romlein, was born Wednesday, March 13, 1912 and died Saturday, June 2, 2002 at age 90. He was a retired U.S. Army Colonel with 36 years of active service. Mr. Romlein was stationed in the USA, Philippine Islands, Solomon Islands, Republic of Haiti, France and Burma. He served for four years as an enlisted man followed by 32 years of officer's service. He graduated from West Point, Class of 1936. Mr. Romlein married Elizabeth Ann Bell in Manila, Philippine Islands in October of 1938. He was the only child of Walter and Margaret Romlein of New York, NY. Mr. Romlein was the father of seven children, James W., Joan A. (Deceased), Jeanette M., Joyce M., John, Jay D., and Joseph: John is the grandfather of 15 and great-grandfather of five. Interment will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO. Frances Shawn Blair Savage, 42, a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, died Monday, June 3, 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Sulie Shawn Savage of Albuquerque; son, Jason Lynn Savage of Los Lunas; grandparents, Glenn and Mary Armstrong of Albuquerque; parents, Sam and Barbara Blair of Los Lunas; sisters, Bonnie Selva of Tome, NM, Mary Ruth Olsen and husband, Tom of Ontario, Canada and Sacha Rosemarie Blair of Albuquerque; two nieces; three nephews; and many other family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lynn Savage; and son, Jerry Lynn Savage, Jr. Frances was a member of First United Methodist Church and she belonged to a Primary Pulmonary Hypertension Support Group. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service will be held Thursday, 3:00 p.m., at the First United Methodist Church, 314 Lead SW, with Dr. Terry Anderson officiating. Nola P. Smith a resident of Albuquerque since 1946 died on Monday June 3, 2002 following an illness. Mrs. Smith is survived by one daughter, Karen E. Velasquez; one son, Paul R. Smith and his wife, Beth all of Albuquerque; one brother, Homer Sims of Lebanon, OR. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Jerry Velasquez, Melanie Velasquez, Sharon Velasquez, and Taylor Smith; one great-grandchild, Elijah; and a cousin, Estelle Ernest. Funeral Services for Mrs. Smith will be held Thursday June 6, 2002 at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle Blvd. NE with Rev. Linda Dyer officiating. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Fitzgerald and Son Funeral Directors, 3113 Carlisle Blvd. is in charge of all arrangements.

Mary Sudow, 95, a resident of Albuquerque since 1995, died Friday May 31, 2002. She is survived by her son, Dean C. Graves and wife, Shirley of Albuquerque; three grandchildren, Brenda, Kristi, and Robert; and five great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Nate Sudow in 1972. Mary was born in Wauban, Minnesota, one of five Vanoss sisters. Mary grew up in Minot, ND. After high school, she started working in the retail women's clothing business and continued to work in this area for 50 years. Nate and Mary were proud owners of Woldenberg's and Carmen's Women's Clothing Stores in Madison, WI for many years. Mary loved Madison, and her Madison friends. In 1995, Mary retired to Albuquerque to be close to her family. Cremation has taken place and no services will be held. Mary will be returned to Madison for interment. Special thanks to Karrington, Manor Care, and Lovelace Hospice for the extra support they provided. It will be remembered and is appreciated. Lt. Col. Donald N. Walker Sr., USAF, Ret., 65, a resident of Albuquerque since 1981, died Saturday, June 1, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Betty Walker of Albuquerque; sons, Donald N. Walker, Jr. and wife, Cherry of Frisco, TX and Mark C. Walker and wife, Wendy of Phoenix, AZ; grandsons, Trevor and Cade Walker; brother, Allan D. Walker and wife, Joan of Goshen, CT; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Col. Walker graduated from Woodstock Academy High School in Hartford, CT in 1954. He received his Bachelor degree from Dartmouth College in 1958 and his Masters degree in 1970 from San Diego State University. Col. Walker retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1986, after 28 years of service to his country. He was a member of American Legion, Post 49. Cremation has taken place and memorial graveside services will be held Wednesday, June 5, 2002, at 11:30 a.m., at Santa Fe National Cemetery. Betty M. Wall, beloved wife and mother, age 75, died peacefully at her home on June 2, 2002. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Joseph A. Wall; her daughter, Janet Garcia and husband, Tom of Albuquerque; grandson, Michael P. Hoffman of Seattle, WA; brother, Miles B. Orton and wife, Eleanor of Albuquerque; sisters, Sadie Buhr of Iowa, and Sylvia Harsh of Oregon; and numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place, and burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. Raymond L. Ward, 83, a native of New Mexico, died Monday, June 3, 2002. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Goldia Ward of Albuquerque; daughter, Cheryl McEwen of Gallup, NM, Lynda Mertes of Lyles, TN and Barbara Quinn and husband, Stephen of Carmel, CA; grandchildren, Cody and Coye Balok, Carrie Maciulla, Stephanie and Erin Quinn and Joshua Mertes. Ray was born in Tucumcari, NM. He was a member of the New Mexico National Guard and served in Italy with the Air Force during WWII. Ray spent many years in the car business and was later the owner of Ray Ward & Company Real Estate and a member of the New Mexico Board of Realtors. He was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church. Services will be held Friday, 2:00 p.m., at French Mortuary, University Blvd. Chapel, 1111 University Blvd. NE, with Rev. Charles E. Robert Allen Watson (Bob), age 43, died Saturday, June 1, 2002 at his home in Santa Fe, N.M. He was born in Austin, Texas and moved to Westfield, New Jersey in 1960. He graduated from WHS in 1976 and Gettysburg College in 1980. Bob lived life to the fullest and his passions were cooking, skiing, traveling, the outdoors, his dogs and most importantly, his partner, Charles Michael. He is also survived by his mother, Charlotte Heuer de Serio; and brother, William Russell Watson; one aunt; one uncle; numerous cousins, and their families. The family will greet friends on Thursday, June 6, 2002 from 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Chapel. BERNIE H. CHAPMAN, 92, died Sunday surrounded by his family at home. He was born July 20, 1909, to Isaias Alarid and Lolita Chapman. He graduated from St. Michael's College in 1929. He served in the National Guard and 1455th Army Air Force during World War II. He was employed by Cartwright's and Santa Fe Motors and retired from the New Mexico State Land Office. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, the Confradia de La Conquistadora and the American Legion, and also was made a life member of the Historic Santa Fe Foundation. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandmother, Anita Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Toni Chapman; children, Patrick and wife Liz of Santa Fe, Ron R. and wife Teri of Murrieta, Calif., and David Anthony of Albuquerque; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends. GERALD GARLAND, 51, of Sapello, died Sunday.
He is survived by the mother of his children, Vicki Garland; son, Damon Garland; daughter, Charity Rose Garland all of the family home; parents, Gerald and Cherie Garland of Ashland, Ore.; brother, Charles Garland of California; sister, Laura Garland of Pamona, Calif.; and many friends. JOSEPH K. MARTINEZ, 30, of Espaņola, died Sunday unexpectedly. He was a heavy equipment operator. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Antonio Martinez in February 2002. He is survived by his children, Bianca Josette Martinez and Carrie Joe Martinez both of Alcalde; mother of his children, Idalia Chacon; mother, Lita Martinez of Espaņola; father, Julian Abel Martinez of Denver; girlfriend, Lorrie Martinez of La Mesilla; brothers, Richard Gonzales and wife Trish, and Julius Gonzales both of Espaņola; sister, Sandra Martinez of Espaņola; maternal grandparents, Juan and Christina Gonzales of Arroyo Seco; and many other relatives and friends. LORETTA MARIA MONTOYA, 52, of La Mesilla, died Sunday unexpectedly. She was a member of the Holy Family Society. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gregorio and Honorata Mondragon. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Montoya; four children, Johnny Montoya and wife Juanita of Canjilon, Ray Montoya and wife Mary Alice of Alcalde, Sarah Montoya and companion Delvin Garcia of Abiquiu, and Christina Montoya and companion Gale Johnson of Rio Rancho; 11 grandchildren; brother, Gabriel Mondragon and wife Helen of Santa Fe; sisters, Antonia Quintana of San Pedro, Rose Martinez and husband Ross of Chimayo, Roberta Mondragon of Riverside, Lucinda Archuleta and husband Hilbert of Riverside; close cousin, Carmen Gonzales of El Llano; and many other relatives and friends. ALEX SEKLER, 93, died May 23, 2002. He was a resident of El Castillo Retirement Residences.
A shelter service will be held at 10 a.m. today at the Santa Fe National Cemetery. McGee Memorial Chapel.

ROBERT ALLEN WATSON (BOB), 43, of Santa Fe, died Saturday at his home. He was born in Austin, Texas, and moved to Westfield, N.J., in 1960. He graduated from WHS in 1976 and Gettysburg College in 1980. He is survived by his partner, Charles Michael; his mother, Charlotte Heuer de Serio; and brother, William Russell Watson; and many other relatives. The family will greet friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Berardinelli Family Chapel. There will be a service to celebrate his life at 7 p.m. at Berardinelli Family Chapel.
