Samuel J. Gangemi, 84, of Syracuse died Saturday. Born in Bristol, R.I., he graduated from North High School. He retired in 1971 after 32 years with Western Union and Sims Match Plate. He was a communicant of St. Daniel's Church. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps. He was an Army veteran of World War II. A son, Richard, died in 1980. Survivors: His wife of 58 years, the former Nellie Lynskey; a son, Michael of Syracuse; two sisters, Helen Sauro of Solvay and Rose Rossi of Baldwinsville; two brothers, Phil of Liverpool and Tim of North Syracuse; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. Services: 8:15 a.m. Tuesday at Pirro & Sons Funeral Home and 9 a.m. in St. Daniel's Church. Burial, North Syracuse Cemetery. Albert G. Gudgeon, 85, of Liverpool died Thursday. He was born in Chicago. He retired in 1961 as a lieutenant commander after 24 years with the Navy and was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He also worked in construction sales for many years. He was a member of the Retired Officers Association. Survivors: His wife of 44 years, Kathleen F.; two daughters, Joan Leaf of Boca Raton, Fla., and Kelley Patenaude of Fort Covington; two sons, A. Patrick of Baldwinsville and Jack of Central Square; two half sisters, Ruth Follett of River Forest, Ill., and Mabel Messinger of  Texas; a half brother, Ray Jenson of River Forest, Ill.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren. He was an employment interviewer for New York state. He was a communicant of St. Timothy's Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II. Survivors: His wife, Mary Ellen; seven sons, Christopher of Singapore, Robert of Weedsport, William of Skaneateles, Martin of Star Prairie, Wis., Stephen of Colorado Springs,  Colo., David of Schenectady and Kyle of Yardville, N.J.; a daughter, Karen Underwood of Buffalo; two sisters, Marian Dennis of Sherburne and Helen VanNess of Fairfax, Va.; 22 grandchildren. Madelyn Klassen Holbert, 97, died Tuesday at St. Ann's Home, Rochester. She was a life resident of Syracuse before moving to the nursing home a month ago. Dr. Warren L. Hollis, 78, of 33 Chipman Lane, Sandy Pond, and Sarasota, Fla., died May 11. Born in Watertown, he graduated in 1942 from Sandy Creek High School and in 1948 from the University of Buffalo School of Medicine. He retired in 1992 after 42 years as a family physician in Lacona. He also was a clinical assistant professor at University Hospital, superintendent and medical director of the Oswego County Tuberculosis Hospital, Orwell, and medical director of the Oswego County Chest X-Ray Clinic. He was a member of Sandy Creek United Methodist Church. Survivors: His wife of 53 years, the former Betty J. Eicholzer; two daughters, Beverly H. Short of Manlius and Nancy H. Sewitch of Cheshire, Conn.; two grandchildren. Services: 11 a.m. June 8 in Sandy Creek United Methodist Church, Harwood Drive, Sandy Creek. Burial, Woodlawn Cemetery, Sandy Creek. No calling hours.
