George H. Fraker, Sr.
Born in Keck Center, NY on Nov. 26, 1921

Mr. George H. Fraker Sr; age 86 of Gloversville, died Monday, May 5, 2008 at Nathan Littauer Hospital, Gloversville.

He was born November 26, 1921 in Gloversville, the son of the late Hallock and Lena Hart Fraker. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1944. He was first employed at various area leather tanneries, then at General Electric Company for eight years. He later worked at White Mop Ringer in Fultonville for eight years, and retired as a self-employed house painter in 1987.

George was a member of the Bleecker Street Church of Christ and the 50-55 Plus Senior Citizens Club, both of Gloversville; and the 50- Plus Senior Citizens of Johnstown.

He was married on July 30, 1972 to Betty Jean Johnson who survives. He is also survived by
five children, Marjorie Nimey (Joseph Jr.) of Utica, Joan Howland MacNiven (Tim) of Schenectady, Sharon Duncovich (James) of Amsterdam, George H. Fraker Jr. (Cheri) of Lantana, Florida and Pamela Viola (Ralph) of Belle Mead, NJ; seven step-children, Gerald R. Calhoun, Allen Calhoun (Cindy), Karen Gordon (Harold), Patrick Calhoun (Carol), Raymond Calhoun (Ellen), Thomas Calhoun (Keri) and Cynthia Calhoun. Additional survivors include his sister Louise Robbins (Howard) of Gloversville; 37 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and cousins. He was preceded in death by his brothers Ralph and Nelson Fraker; his sisters Bessie Richter and Isabel Wolfgram; a great-grandson Riley Daniel Hanson; and a step-daughter, Deborah LaPlante whose husband Richard survives.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Sandra Geer officiating. Interment will take place at Prospect Hill Cemetery, Gloversville. Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice, 108 Steele Avenue, Gloversville, or to the Bleecker Street Church of Christ, 97 Bleecker St; Gloversville, NY 12078.

Donna M. Werner
Born in Cooperstown, New York on Sep. 26, 1948
At Rest May 6, 2008 and resided in Hagaman, NY.

Mrs. Donna M. Werner, 59, formerly of Hagaman, passed away May 6, 2008 at the Edward L. Wilkinson R.H.C.F. Born in Cooperstown, NY on September 26, 1948 she was the daughter of the late Albert and May Snyder Jones.

A lifelong area resident, she was educated in Perth and went on to attend Spencer Business School in Albany. Donna was employed for Kirby Vacuum Cleaners in Schenectady for many years until her early retirement in 2000.

Donna was a loving mother, who worked tirelessly for her children. She was a leader for the 4-H club in Hagaman and was a counselor for Lifesavers Ministry. She also was a member of the Perth Bible Church for over 30 years. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Her loving family includes her two daughters, Jennifer Werner and Rebecca (Steven) Borschel; one sister, Brenda Sweeney; and five grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 9th, 2008 at 6 o'clock at the Betz, Rossi & Bellinger Family Funeral Home, 171 Guy Park Avenue, Amsterdam. There are no calling hours.

Lawrence C. Rose
Born in Gloversville, NY on Aug. 19, 1933

Mr. Lawrence C. Rose, age 74, formerly of Gloversville, died Tuesday morning, May 6, 2008 at Wells Nursing Home Inc; Johnstown, where he received kind and considerate care for nearly two years.

He was born on August 19, 1933 in Gloversville, the son of the late Charles and Anna Ricci Rose. A 1951 graduate of Gloversville High School, Larry served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was employed for 25 years as a driver for the United Parcel Service in Gloversville, and also as a bus driver for 12 years for the Gloversville Enlarged School District.

Mr. Rose was a member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church.

On June 2, 1956 he was married to Verna M.Young who survives. He is also survived by two children, Charles L. Rose (Shari) of Bleecker and Cheryl A. Sena (Charles) of Gloversville; three grandchildren, Troy Rose, Sasha Rose and Kristina Sena; and several cousins.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Walrath & Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont St; Gloversville, where a Prayer Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday with The Rev. Kenneth Swain officiating. Interment will take place at Mount Carmel Cemetery, Johnstown. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the Alzheimers Association, 85 Watervliet Ave; Albany, NY 12206-2083 or to the Wells Nursing Home Inc; 201 W. Madison Ave; Johnstown, NY 12095

Mildred Fallis
Born in Gloversville, New York on Oct. 24, 1942
At Rest Apr. 12, 2008 and resided in Gloversville, NY.

Mildred "Mickey" Seelow Fallis, 87, of Gloversville, died unexpectedly Saturday, April 12, 2008, after being stricken at home. She was born in Gloversville on September 18, 1920, the daughter of Herbert and Rosa Welsh Seelow. She was educated in Gloversville schools and was a graduate of Nathan Littauer School of Nursing, Class of 1941. She was licensed in both Florida and New York.
Mrs. Fallis was employed at the office of Dr. John V. Fernandez as well as Nathan Littauer and Johnstown Hospitals prior to her retirement. She was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Church in Gloversville and was active in Sacred Heart's Social Club and Nathan Littauer Nursing Alumni Association.
She enjoyed her family, knitting, outdoor activities and camping in the Adirondacks. Mickey will be truly missed by her family and friends.
She was married to John T. Fallis on October 24, 1942. John predeceased her in August of 2007. She is survived by a daughter: Linda Hammond of Gloversville; six grandchildren: Douglas Furlong, Beth Furlong Margolis, Michelle Furlong Bartz, Evan Fallis, Erin Fallis Sutton and Jared Hammond and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Harold Seelow; a son, John D. Fallis and a daughter, Jacquelyn Fallis Furlong.
Mrs. Fallis made a generous contribution to medicine by participating in the Anatomical Gift Program of Albany Medical College.
A memorial service was held Saturday, April 19 at 3 p.m. at the Kobuskie-Konik Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville with Reverend Dr. R.W. Williams presiding. A memorial visitation with video tribute was held Saturday, April 19 from 1 to 3 p.m. prior to the service. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 am Friday, May 9 at Sacred Heart Church. Donations may be made in Mickey's memory to the Gloversville Senior Center, 53 Church Street, Gloversville 12078 or to the Gloversville Public Library, 58 East Fulton Street, Gloversville 12078.

Donald R. Fountain
Born in Gloversville on Jul. 22, 1962

Donald R. "Duck" Fountain, 45, died Friday, May 9, 2008 at Nathan Littauer Hospital in Gloversville. He was born on July 22, 1962, the son of the late Robert M. and Pearlie Mae Kilmartin Fountain in Gloversville.
He was employed by various leather mills in the area where he worked as a toggler; he also worked as an assembler for Coleco Industries in Mayfield and worked as a landscaper around the area. Donald enjoyed fishing, camping and watching soap operas with his late mother, Pearlie Mae. Most of all, he enjoyed hanging out with his friends. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include five brothers: Bobby Fountain, Ronny Fountain, Henry Fountain, Joseph Fountain- all of Gloversville and Timmy VanKleeck of Rochester; three sisters: Caroline Freeman of Gloversville, Lena Fountain of Mayfield and Sue McGillis of Gloversville and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be no calling hours. Cremation will take place at Park View Crematorium in Schenectady. A funeral service will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Walrath and Stewart Funeral Home, 51 Fremont Street, Gloversville

Lula D. Smith
Born in Town of Palatine on Jan. 16, 1919
At Rest May 10, 2008 and resided in Fort Plain, NY.

Mrs. Lula D. Smith, 89, of Center Street, Fort Plain passed away peacefully Saturday, May 10, 2008 at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home. A lifelong area resident, she was born on January 16, 1919 in the Town of Palatine the daughter of the late Frank and Dorothy Luck Peeler.

Lula was a woman who dedicated herself to her family and her home. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

On May 6, 1939 she was united in marriage to Wagner Smith. That union lasted nearly 48 years until his passing on February 5, 1987. She was also predeceased by her daughter and son in law, Lavina and Donald Smith; and her siblings, Harriet Smith and Ruben Peeler.

Her loving family includes, her son LaVerne "Whitey" Smith and his wife Barbara of Fort Plain; three grandchildren, Jeffery Smith and his wife Rebecca of Fort Plain, Donald Smith and his wife Barbara of Fairport and Tina Gallt and her husband Lester of Fort Plain; six great grandchildren, Justin and Ashley Smith, Kiesha and Kristen Harrington, Kyle and Korie Calhoun; and one great great granddaughter, Gabriella.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service of remembrance on Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 3 o'clock at the Fort Plain Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego Street, Canajoharie, NY 13317.
