ROCKFORD - Harold Gene Heindel

Age: 85
ROCKFORD -- Harold Gene Heindel, 85, of Rockford died at 7:52 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at Van Wert County Hospital.
He was born Aug. 14, 1917, in Mercer County, the son of the late Marion and Harriet (Hoel) Heindel. In December 1940, he married Lillian P. Shank, who preceded him in death in 1953. On Dec. 21, 1954, he married Marguerite Linton Yaney, who preceded him in death on Dec. 2, 1998.
Mr. Heindel retired in 1981 after 40 years at Goodyear. A World War II veteran who served three years in France and Italy, he was also a farmer.

Children -- Charles (Carolyn) Heindel of Garner, N.C., Jerry (Valentine) Yaney of St. Marys and Barbara Bolenbaugh of Fort Wayne
Nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ted, Lowell and Charles; a grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Cisco Funeral Home, Celina, the Rev. Kenneth Baker officiating. Burial will be in Mercer Memory Gardens.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
PAULDING - Mary C Martinez
Died: Tuesday, October 1, 2002
Age: 72
PAULDING - Mary C. Martinez, 72, died at 6:13 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, in her residence following an extended illness.
She was born March 15, 1930, in Lockhart, Texas, the daughter of the late Matias Contreras and Cayetana Gloria.
On Jan. 13, 1948, she married Mike C. Martinez, who survives.
Mrs. Martinez retired from Paulding County Hospital after 23 years in the dietary department.

Sister - Lucy Perez of Fort Wayne, Ind.
Brothers - Andy Contreras of Defiance and Ray Contreras and Daniel Bustos, both of Paulding
Thirteen grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Ross Contreras, a granddaughter and a grandson.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulding, the Rev. G. Allan Fillman officiating. Burial will be in Paulding Memorial Cemetery, Paulding.
Calling hours are 2-9 p.m. today at Den Herder Funeral Home, Paulding, where a wake service will be held at 8 p.m. today, and an hour prior to services Friday at the church.
MECHANICSBURG - Andrew Michael Searfoss
Died: Tuesday, October 1, 2002
MECHANICSBURG - Andrew Michael Searfoss, 6 weeks old, died at 5:37 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at Children's Hospital, Columbus.
He was born Aug. 15, 2002, in Columbus, the son of George Searfoss and Sarah Hiser, both of Mechanicsburg.

He was preceded in death by two aunts, Amanda and Naomi Hiser.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Brickner Funeral Home, the Rev. Steve Placke officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.

Gaylord C Young
Died: Tuesday, October 1, 2002
Age: 77
Gaylord C. Young, 77, of rural Van Wert died at 1:26 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2002, at Van Wert County Hospital.
He was born Sept. 3, 1925, in Van Wert County, the son of the late Arthur Carl and Florence E. (Feigert) Young. On Sept. 3, 1949, he married Phyllis A. Switzer, who survives.
Mr. Young was a farmer in Harrison Township for 60 years. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ where he had served as elder, deacon, trustee and a member of the church choir. He was also a member of Van Wert Camp of Gideons International, Van Wert County Farm Bureau, Farm Focus Committee and Heritage Board.
Other survivors include two sons, Ronald C. (Carla) Young of rural Van Wert and Ned L. (Sandy) Young of rural Convoy; a brother, Edgar P. (Deweece) Young of Stevensville, Md., and six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, the Rev. Jerry Flueckinger of St. Paul's United Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ohio City.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. today at Cowan & Son Funeral Home, Van Wert, and an hour prior to service time Friday at the church.
Preferred memorials are Gideons International or Wren EMS.
FORT WAYNE
Died: Monday, September 30, 2002
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - April M. Buckler, 31, of Fort Wayne, formerly of Mendon, died at 9:22 p.m. Monday, Sept. 30, 2002, at Indiana University Hospital, Indianapolis, Ind., of complications from a sudden illness. She had been waiting on a liver transplant.
She was born Dec. 6, 1970, in Lima, the daughter of Rick and Linda (Freewalt) Etgen of Mendon. On Nov. 27, 1993, she married Scott Buckler, who survives.
Mrs. Buckler was an office comptroller at Excell Color Graphics of Fort Wayne. She was a 1989 graduate of Mendon-Union High School and had attended Wright State University Lake Campus - Celina.
Other survivors include a brother, Darrell (Nancy) Etgen of Mendon; maternal grandparents, Orland and Doris Freewalt of Mendon; paternal grandparents, Phyllis and Buster Furr of New Port Richey, Fla.; parents-in-law, Judy and Donald Buckler of Kendallville, Ind.; sister-in-law, Kim Clay of Fort Wayne; a niece, Claudia Etgen, and three nephews, Joshua Etgen, Travis Nusbaum and Mason Clay.
She was preceded in death by a paternal grandfather, Richard Etgen.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Mendon United Methodist Church, the Rev. Dr. Paul Bunnell officiating. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery.
Calling hours are 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at W.H. Dick & Sons Funeral Home, Mendon, and an hour prior to service time Saturday at the church.

Erma M. (Fackler) Nihiser
Died: Saturday, January 18, 2003
Age: 91
Erma M. (Fackler) Nihiser, 91, of Van Wert died at 12:52 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at St. Rita's Medical Center, Lima.
She was born Jan. 1, 1912, in Van Wert County, the daughter of the late Clarence E. and Martha Z. (Friend) Fackler. On Sept. 2, 1933, she married Lawrence A. "Tom" Nihiser, who preceded her in death.
Mrs. Nihiser was a homemaker. A very active member of First United Brethren in Christ Church in Van Wert, she was past secretary of the Senior Citizens Club, past senior Peony Queen, past treasurer of AARP, formerly contributed articles to the Van Wert Times-Bulletin and was a member of the Van Wert Hobby Club.
She enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing for others, traveling and canning, was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan and, most of all, enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include two sons, Larry D. (Faye Ann) Nihiser and Jerry W. (Carol Lynne) Nihiser, both of Van Wert; one daughter, Sandra Kay (Jerry) Zeigler of Bluffton, Ind.; six grandchildren, Tanja Nihiser, Jon H. Mann, Katina (Mann) Stout, Adam Troy Nihiser, S. Travis Nihiser and Trevor Nihiser, and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Alspach-Gearhart Funeral Home, the Rev. Barry McCune officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery, Van Wert.
Calling hours are 2-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

DELPHOS - Marie (Sauber) Wilson

Age: 99
DELPHOS - Marie (Sauber) Wilson, 99, died at 8:58 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Vancrest Health Care Center.
She was born Oct. 8, 1903, in Landeck, the daughter of the late Nicholes and Matilda (Elasser) Sauber. On June 9, 1924, she married Burgan Wilson, who preceded her in death on May 29, 1972.
Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker.
Survivors include:
Sons - Robert (Margaret) Wilson of Manistee, Mich., Eugene (Mary) Wilson of Beaver Creek, Frank "Nick" (Judy) Wilson of Delphos and Michael (Joyce) Wilson of Plant City, Fla.
Daughters - Maxine Link and Marilyn (Gerhard E.) Otte, both of Delphos, Katherine (Frank) Campanile of Beaver Creek and Carolyn Masten of Las Vegas
Twenty-seven grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, Joan M. Wilson and Collen E. Millet; one grandson, Nicolas E. Wilson; four brothers, Cletus, Robert, Louis and Albert Sauber; two sisters, Josephine Kreps and Agnes Yochum; two half brothers, Oscar and Cornelius Sauber, and four half sisters, Isabel Smith, Angela Nye, Emma Spangler and Helen Fillhart.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, the Rev. Thomas Gorman officiating. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Harter & Son Funeral Home, Delphos, where a parish wake will be held at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.
