Robert Tunis

Robert B.Tunis, age 83, of Zanesville, Ohio,died at 1:30 PM Friday September 27, 2002 at his residence.

He was born September 30, 1918 in Zanesville, Ohio the son of the late Ben H. & Lyda J. Tanner Tunis. Mr. Tunis was a retired farmer, a member of the Trinity United Presbyterian Church, a 65 year member of the Richvale Grange, was a Past President of the Ruritan Club, a 61 year member and Past Master of the Masonic Lodge # 184 F. & AM at Irville Ohio,a member
of the Zanesville Chapter No 9 Royal Arch Masons, and a member of the Zanesville Council No 12 Royal and Select Masters.

Surviving are a brother; James E. (Dorothy) Tunis of Zanesville, and several nieces & nephews.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Eleanor F. Lane Tunis who died November10, 1998.

Friends may call 9:00 a.m. till 10:30 a.m. Thursday October 3, 2002 at the Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Ave., Zanesville. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday October 3, 2002 at Zanesville Memorial Park with the Rev. Alex McDougall officiating.

Catherine Sain

Catherine E. Sain, age 81, of 3125 East Pike, Zanesville, Ohio died at 2:25 a.m. Friday September 27, 2002 at the ODC Nursing Home.

She was born July 7, 1921 in Zanesville, Ohio the daughter of the late Raymond D. & Mary Degelman Biggum. Mrs. Sain was a cook for The St. Thomas Catholic Church Rectory and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Surviving are two sons; Paul Cameron of Lake Wales, Florida & Patton Cameron of Ridgecrest, NC, two daughters; Barbara Louise Bishop of Lakeland, Florida & Marti J. Whitehouse of Glenford, Ohio, seven grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, two brothers; Robert Biggum of
South Zanesville & Eugene M. Biggum of Ocala, Florida.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents, her first husband Paul T. Cameron, who died November 1968, her 2nd husband, Leonard Sain who died May 7, 1998, two sisters, Louise Hutcheson & Shirley Ann Cash.

No calling hours or services will be observed, a caring cremation has taken place and burial will be at Daytona Beach, Florida. Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio entrusted with arrangements.

Icel M. Ball

Icel M. Ball, 93, formerly of Caldwell Street, Zanesville, Ohio died at 7:35 p.m. Friday, September 27, 2002 at Brethren Care Village, Ashland, Ohio.

She was born June 18, 1909 in Noble Co. a daughter of the late David & Anna Garvin Wheeler. She was a former employee of Shawnee Pottery and was a member of North Terrace Church of Christ.

Surviving is one daughter and son-in-law, Marlene& Carlos Allen of New Philadelphia, sister Pauline Haga of Sharon, Ohio five grandchildren; Larry & David Ball of the Pomroy, Ohio area, Katina Allen Eichelberger of Ashland, Ohio, Jillian Allen Paden of Columbus, Ohio & Deanne Allen Grose of Mansfield, Ohio, nine great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death in addition to her parents, her husband, Guy Ball who died January 1982, one son, Garol R. Ball in 1993, two sisters, Mary Quarterman and Gladys Hill, one brother, Alden Wheeler.

No calling hours will be observed, graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, September 30, 2002 at Zanesville Memorial Park with Mr. Tony Maple officating. Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville entrusted with arrangements.

Charles E. Gray
Charles E. Gray, 80 of Jacksonville, Florida, formerly of Zanesville, Ohio died at 7:41 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2002 at Memorial Hospital emergency room, Jacksonville, Florida.

He was born November 14, 1921 at Zanesville, Ohio a son of the late Edwin & Rhea Gille Gray. He retired after 39 years of service for Columbia Gas Company, was a member of The Lodge of Amity # 5 F&AM, VFW George Selsam Post 1058 and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Louella Cunningham Gray of the home, whom he married February 5, 1943, daughter & son-in-law, Mary Louise( Charles) Darner of Jacksonville, Florida, three grandchildren, Robert, Scott & and Erin Gable. six great grandchildren, Brittaney Darner, Emily Gable, Madyson Darner, Bailey Darner, Brian Darner & Byron Darner.Two nephews; Randy & Rodney Henwood both of Lancaster.

He was preceded in death in addition to his parents, two sisters, Virginia Osborne & Rita Henwood.

No calling hours will be observed, a caring cremation has taken place. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 5, 2002 at Grenwood Cemtery, Zanesville, Ohio with Rev. Clarence Dinnen officiating. Funeral procession will leave funeral home at 9:45 a.m. Saturday. Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville entrusted with arrangements.

Helen G. Barnett
Helen G. Barnett, age 94, of Zanesville, Ohio, died at 10:28 a.m. Sunday, September 22, 2002 at Sunnyview Nursing Home, Zanesville, Ohio.

She was born June 6, 1908, in Caldwell, Ohio the daughter of the late Harley and Mary Madline Gillesply Cunningham.

Surviving is sister Ruth Ann Maupin of Alva, Fla.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles A. Barnett,who died March 1, 1955 and by two sisters Edna Johns & Mary K. Perkins.

Friends may call 9:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 26, 2002 at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville where services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 26, 2002 at Bolin Funeral Home with the Rev. Webster Cox officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery.

Donna Sedwick Rigel

Donna Jean Sedwick Rigel, age 76 of Nashport, Ohio formerly of Athens, Ohio passed away early Thursday morning September 19, 2002 at Bethesda Hospital, Zanesville, Ohio.

Born in Athens, Ohio January 18, 1926, a daughter of the late Harold (Otto) and Margaret Hatch Sedwick. A 1943 graduate of Athens High School she was married to the late Horace ( Hoss) Rigel at her parents home in Athens on February 12, 1946. She retired from Sears after many years at Sears in Lancaster, Ohio, Richmond, Indiana and Zanesville, Ohio.
Formerly employed at Elder-Beermans in Zanesville, Ohio. Member of Y-Bridge City Chapter of American Business Women's Association, having served as president and was chosen " Women of the Year". Member Business and Professional Womens Association/ A volunteer at Bethesda Hospital in the Junior and Senior Leagues and past president of the Junior League at Bethesda Hospital.

She is survived by daughter; Carol ( Don) Johnson, Kokomo, Indiana, sons; Doug ( Joyce) Rigel of Mansfield, Ohio, Ronald Rigel of Nashport, Ohio. Grandchildren; Renee ( Rick) Carpenter of Kokomo, Indiana, Scott  Johnson of Kokomo, Indiana, Morgan Rigel & fiance Dan Flowers of Nashport, Ohio and McGavin Rigel of Nashport, Ohio. Great Grandchilden; Trevor  Johnson and Payden Carpenter, sister-in-law; Mrs. Barbara Sedwick of Texas, several nieces & nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, former State Highway Patrolman Horace " Hoss" Rigel in 1975, brother, Robert Sedwick, and an infant sister Ann Sedwick.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 23, 2002 at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, Ohio and conducted by The Rev. Herb Perry with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Nelsonville, Ohio. Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Sunday, September 22, 2002.

C. Edwin Bell

C. Edwin Bell, 96, of Zanesville died at 11:25 p.m. Sunday, September 8, 2002 at Willow Haven Nursing Home where he was a patient for ten days.

He was born on the home farm on January 14, 1906 a son of the late Samuel Hamilton & Lulia Blanche Crabtree Bell. He was a lifelong farmer on the family farm. He was a graduate of Lash High School and attended Ohio State University. He was a lifelong member, Elder, & Deacon of
Central Presbyterian Church, member of Muskingum Co. Farm Bureau & Advisory Council 2-A., member & past president of West Muskingum School Board for twenty years, an 80 year member of Richvale Grange.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Katherine Kelly Bell, whom he married August 4, 1936, four children, Fannie ( Bob) Brill of Chandlersville, Pat ( Dick) Humphrey of Nellysford, VA., Jim, ( Bernice) Bell of Zanesville, Dick ( Nancy) Bell of Los Alamos, New Mexico, six grand daughters; Jill, Julie, Theresa, Winnie, Kelly, & Kathy, fourteen great grandchildren, one
brother; Samuel Alvin ( Mary Elinor) Bell of Columbus,one sister,Betty (Lawrence) Elliott of Norwich, eight nieces & nephews & many great nieces & nephews & great great nieces & nephews, one sister-in-law Elizabeth Bell of Frazeysburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Arthur F. Bell & Robert L. Bell

Friends may call from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Friday, September 13, 2002 at Bolin Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville and one hour prior to services at Central Presbyterian Church at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2002 with Pastor Ray Morrison officiating. Burial will follow at Dresden Cemetery, Dresden.

Memorial Contributions may be made to Eastside Community Center or to Ohio 4-H Center Campaign, 25 AG Administration Building, 2120 Fyffe Road, Columbus, Ohio 43210.

Benny Lee Binkley

Benny Lee Binkley, age 62, of Zanesville, Ohio went home to be with his family and his Lord,at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday, September 3, 2002 at his residence.

He was born January 29, 1940 in Zanesville, Ohio the son of the late Samuel Eugene & Lena Ralph Binkley. He was a retired general contractor, a member of the Mt Carmel Christian Union Church and an avid fisherman & coon hunter.

Surviving are his wife of 42 years,Margaret A. Bishop Binkley of the home, two sons Benny L. (Daphney) Binkley Jr. of Zanesville,William D. (Tina) Binkley of Adamsville, two sisters, Dorcas Annabelle (William) Kirkpatrick of Nashport, Ethel (Ronald) Knox of Zanesville, two brothers, Raymond Cecil (Barbara) Binkley of Nashport, James (Mary) Binkley of Zanesville, four grandchildren, Danielle,Michea,and Joshua Binkley, and D. J.Coots, several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, special friends,Denzil and Gladys Morrison
and Glen Ore.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Michael Dean Binkley,by one sister Judith Binkley,by four brothers, Virgil, Robert, and Lorren Binkley, and Charles Parsons.

Friends may call 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2002 at the Bolin Funeral Home, 1271, Blue Avenue, Zanesville where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday September 6, 2002 with the Rev. Carol Hall officiating.Burial will follow at Mt. Sterling Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mt Carmel Christian Church.
