Randall L. Crum 02/21/2006
Randall L. Crum, age 59, died Tuesday morning, February 21, 2006 at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Marion. He was born April 17, 1946 to the late Charles E. and Dorothy M. (Click) Crum.
Randal was a1964 graduate of Cardington-Lincoln High School and worked in the construction field as a laborer.
Survivors include three brothers and sister-in-laws, Jerry and Sandra Crum and Dennis and Patrice Crum all of Oklahoma, and Scott and Dawn Crum of Cardington; two sisters and brother-in-laws, Sherry and Don Strohl, and Rita and Jimmy Castle all of Cardington; and special friend, Delores Jackson.
Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Quality of Life Hospice or the Richland Road Church of Christ in care of Gompf Funeral Service, 440 South Center Street, Cardington, Ohio 43315.
A private family service will be held. Gompf Funeral Service assisted the family with arrangements.
Harold DeWayne "Dewey" West Jr. 02/19/2006
Harold DeWayne "Dewey" West Jr., age 31, of Mount Gilead, died unexpectedly on Sunday morning, Feb. 19, 2006, at the Morrow County Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Galion, Ohio, on August 2, 1974, the son of Gail (Prichard) West of Mount Gilead and the late Harold West Sr., who preceded him in death on April 6, 1987.
Dewey was a graduate of Mount Gilead High School in the Class of 1992. Dewey worked as a supervisor at Bridges to Independence in Marion. He also worked as an offline welder at Yutaka Technologies in Cardington and gave direct care to patients at the Morning View Care Center in Fulton and Centerburg.
On June 12, 2004, Dewey married the love of his life, his "Firecracker," Amanda (Lewis) West, at the Mount Gilead State Park.
With a fond ear for all types of music, Dewey loved attending rock concerts. He especially enjoyed listening to his favorite bands Wasp, Kiss and Alice Cooper.
Dewey had an interesting fascination with train memorabilia and train sets, which lead to a unique train collection. He also enjoyed playing video games, hunting, fishing and going on wrecker runs with his father-in-law Rick.
A child at heart, Dewey will be remembered for his ornery ways, always teasing until everyone was laughing. Dewey was a very patient, kind and loving man, who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his wife and mother, Dewey leaves to cherish his memory his brothers Bobby West of Columbus and Michael (Jackie) West of Kansas City, Mo.; his sisters Becky West of Columbus, Sherry (Joseph) Durbin of Galion and Cathy (James) Bailey of Oklahoma City; mother and father-in-law Penny and Rick Lewis of Edison; sisters-in-law Nicole and Kelsey Lewis; his dog Bailey; and many more family and friends.
The family will greet friends from Friday, February 24, 2006 from 9:00 to 11:30AM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington, where funeral services will be held at 11:30AM. Pastor Ed Colegrove will officiate and burial will follow in Rivercliff Cemetery in Mount Gilead.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family.
Edward E. Moore 02/06/2006
Edward E. Moore, age 53, of West High Street in Mount Gilead died Monday, February 6, 2006 at home. He was born April 15, 1952 in Ashley, OH to Ernest and Barbara (Hatten) Moore. His father survives in Ostrander. His mother preceded him in death.
Edward was a 1970 graduated of Cardington-Lincoln High School and had served in the US Navy. He worked at Glenwood Range in Delaware as a metal finisher and was a member of the "No Limits" Group of Edison.
Survivors also include his daughter, Eva J. Moore-Slone of Mount Gilead, a granddaughter, Angela Bricker; special friend, Jackie Berry of Mount Gilead; 2 sisters, Janet Dowalter of Edison and Linda Albright of Galion and a brother, Dale Moore of Mount Gilead.
Friends may call Thursday, February 9, 2006 from 10AM to Noon at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington. Funeral services will follow at Noon and Pastor Jay Weaver will officiate.

Virginia M. Hickman age 86, of Park Avenue, Mount Gilead died Saturday, February 4, 2006 at Woodside Village Care Center.
Richard Willis Heimlich 02/03/2006
Richard Willis Heimlich, age 71, of North Grove Street, Ashley, died peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family, February 3, 2006. He was born May 4, 1934 in Melbourne, Florida to the late Robert F and Ruby E. (Ellis) Heimlich.
Richard was a 1952 graduate of Cardington High School and was a member of God's Church Worldwide. He served our country in the U.S. Marine Corp and worked as a plumber pipe fitter in the construction industry.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Barbara (Wiles) and, 4 children, Lisa Kimble of Ashley, Teri Hartwell of Mount Gilead, Richard Heimlich and Steve Heimlich both of Cardington; 8 grandchildren and 2 sisters, Barbara Grimm of Cardington and Betty Zeigler of Reynoldsburg.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James, and a daughter, Patricia.
A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, February 12, 2006 at 2:00PM, at the Oxford Township Community Center, 5125 Shoemaker Road, Ashley, Ohio. A party celebrating his life will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Hospice at Grady, 561 West Central Avenue, Delaware, Ohio 43015.
Gompf Funeral Service of Cardington assisted the family with arrangements.
Hazel L. Weisseise 01/26/2006
Hazel L. Weisseise, age 79, of Marion Edison Road, Marion died Thursday evening, January 26, 2006 at the DeWolfe House in Marion. She was born in Marion on March 18, 1926 to the late Clarence W. and M. Pauline (Hoffman) McChesney.
Hazel's home and family for the past seven years has been at the DeWolfe House in Marion. She was a 1944 graduate of Claridon High School. She had been employed at one time for Anthony Laundry in Marion. Hazel was a member of Marion Salem United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women's Organization.
In On August 19, 1956 she married Joseph Weisseise and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include her brother and his wife, Paul and Marjory McChesney of Edison; nieces and nephews, Steve and Phyllis McChesney of Mount Gilead, Bruce and Connie McChesney and Phil and Sheila McChesney all of Cardington, Brenda and Dave Harvey of Crown Point, IN, Mindy and Scott Lerman of West Nyack, NY, David Barnhart and Rose Cavello both of Columbus; and several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents Hazel was preceded in death by a nephew Jim Barnhart.
Friends may call on Sunday, January 29, 2006 from 2:00 to 5:00PM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington. Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 30, 2006 at 11:00AM at Salem United Methodist Church. Pastor Jeff Grant will officiate and burial will follow in Salem Cemetery.

Orla G. Corbitt 01/25/2006
Orla G. Corbitt Palmer, age 90, of Ocala, FL formerly of Cardington, died January 25, 2006. She was born February 14, 1915 in Spencer WV to the late Fernando and Myrtle (Mace) Connelly.
She and her husband, Isner Corbitt, owned Corbitt's Red and White store in Cardington. She was the oldest holder of a real estate license in Ocala, FL and worked at Carol Masters Realty. She was a former member of the Cardington First United Methodist Church.
Orla is survived by her children, Robert S. Corbitt of Deerfield, OH, James (Jim) Corbitt of Marion, OH and Carol Masters of Ocala, FL; 9 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
In addition to her husband and parents, Orla was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Hobert Conely and Harold Connelly and a sister, Beluah Clark.
Friends may call from 1:00-1:45 PM on Thursday, February 2, 2006 at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington. Graveside funeral services will follow in Glendale Cemetery at 2:00PM.
George D. Jackson 01/23/2006
George D. Jackson, age 87, of Mount Vernon and formerly of Mount Gilead, died Monday afternoon, January 23, 2006 at Knox Community Hospital. He was born July 30, 1918 in Gilead Township, Morrow County to the late Frank L. and Mary M (Mosher) Jackson.
George was a 1935 graduate of Cardington High School. His dedication to the value of education was shown in many of his activities. He was a Mt. Gilead School Board member from 1960 to 1972, in recent years he served on the Strategic Planning Committee to study the Mt. Gilead School's facilities and made recommendations for future needs. He had served as President of the Ohio School Board of Trustees. He also helped to found the Gilead Christian School. In 2001 George was named Outstanding Citizen of Mount Gilead. He was a past member of the Morrow County Farm Bureau and Morrow County Dairy Association and served as President on the Board of Directors for the Dairy Cattle Breeding Association, President of the Ohio Dairymen's Association, and was on the Board of Directors for the Milk Producers Association. He had served as supervisor for the Morrow County Soil Conservation and Water District. He retired from dairy farming after 35 years on Green Hayven Farm. George was a member of the Gilead Friends Church and served as Elder from 1985 to 1990.
On October 25, 1940 in Spokane, WA he married the former Evelyn Brinnon and she preceded him in death in 2002.
Survivors include, 3 daughters and their husbands, Janet and Mike Tatevosian, of Vernon Hills, IL, Bonnie and Lee Garrett of Portland, OR, Barbara and Harold Snow of Mount Vernon; a son and his wife, Marvin and Melissa Jackson of Lewis Center; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Amy Hunter of Marion, IN.
In addition to his wife and parents, George was preceded in death by a brother, Frank Jackson and 2 sisters Helen Calhoon and Louise Myers.
Friends may call Friday, January 27, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Gompf Funeral Home in Cardington. The funeral service will be held Saturday, January 28, 2006 at 11:00AM in the Gilead Friends Church with visitation beginning at 10:00AM. Pastors Ron Ellyson and Charles Robinson will officiate and burial will follow in Quakerdom Cemetery.
