Orval “Boog” Saunders

Funeral services for Orval “Boog” Saunders, 75, of Sulphur, were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 12, at the Dougherty Baptist Church with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Interment with military honors followed at the Dougherty Cemetery under the direction of Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur. Born on September 17, 1939 in Dougherty, to the late Charles “Chub” and Ettner (Duncan) Saunders, he passed away Wednesday, June 10, in Sulphur. He grew up in Dougherty where he graduated from high school is 1959. He served in both the U. S. Army and later the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, prior to being honorably discharged in July 1967. He worked as a contract painter for Haliburton several years prior to entering the emergency medical field. He spent 20+ years working as a medic for Murray County Ambulance service, as well as working as a nurse at Arbuckle Memorial Hospital and the Sulphur Veteran’s Center, retiring in 2007. He was an avid reader and enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his younger years, he spent many hours coaching area little league baseball teams. Survivors include the love of his life for 42 years, Shirley Ann (Clinton) Saunders; four sons, Jimmy Dale Saunders, Sulphur, Jerry Saunders, California, Robert Saunders, Choctaw and William Peckenpaugh, Lexington; three daughters, Effie McElfresh and husband, Dirk, Shawnee, Sue Ann Yancey and husband, Pete, Benton, Ark., and Sherry Saunders, Choctaw; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and six sisters, Mildred Allen, Mary White, Sally Clelland, Lona Edwards, Betty Wilson and Linda Spears. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Charles “Creed” Saunders, Jr., John Saunders, Harvey “Teeks” Saunders and Bo Saunders; two sisters, Patsy Garland and Irene West and a son, Floyd Peckenpaugh. Serving as pallbearers were Clint Gibbs, Gary Parker, Alex Ross, Larry Boyd, Doug Payne and Joseph Miller. Honorary Pallbearers were Gavin Saunders, Pete Yancey and Dirk McElfresh.

J.W. “Dub” Haynes

Funeral services for Mr. J.W. “Dub” Haynes, 82 of Wilson, were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 7 at Alexander Funeral Home Chapel of Wilson with Travis Salsman officiating. Interment followed at Hewitt Cemetery in Wilson. Dub was born January 2, 1933 in Wilson to the late John Warren Haynes and Lillie Okla (Horn) Haynes. He died Friday, July 3, 2015 in Ardmore. Dub was mostly raised in Wilson, leaving school early to join the U. S. Navy during the Korean War. He served honorably, receiving three battle stars, United Nations Medal and the National Defense Medal. He returned to this area and worked in the oilfields before moving to California. Living in California, he worked for the state highway department for many years, retiring in the early 80’s. While in California, Dub received his GED from Lompoc, Calif., school district which was one of his proudest accomplishments. Dub had moved back to Wilson after he retired. His favorite times were spent with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Johnnie Haynes and brother Roy Lee Haynes. Survivors include one sister, Donna Beavers and Husband, Wayne, Harrah; two brothers, Richard Haynes and wife, Beverly, Eldon, Mo., and Donald Ray Haynes and wife, Linda, Sulphur and numerous other family and friends. Casket bearers were Mike Beavers, Gary Beavers, Gage Beavers, Steve Stebbins, Bobby Norton, Brandon Ramsey and Nick Beavers. Honorary bearers were Wayne Beavers, Wayne Brown, Jimmy Clark, Frank Carriker, Bill Haynes and Buck Marutzky.

Bruce Arlen Jack

A celebration of life in honor of Bruce Arlen Jack, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on August 8 at the First Baptist Church in Gunter, Texas. Born, July 28, 1941 in Sulphur to Tom Jack and Dorothy Dobbs Jack, he died July 3 in Sherman, Texas. Bruce is survived by his wife, Barbara S. Jack, Gunter, Texas; three daughters, Regina A. Banks and her husband, Jeff Banks, Gunter, Texas, Veronica L. Simmons and her husband, Steve Simmons, Decatur, Texas and Jennifer D. Andy and her husband, Terry Andy, Anna, Texas; one brother, J.T. Jack and wife, Rajeane Jack, Albuquerque, N.M., two sisters, Barbara Myers, Albuquerque, N.M. and Janice Anderson, Antonita, Colo.; four grandchildren, his step mother, Ann Jack, Sulphur and several nieces and nephews. Bruce was preceded in death by his father, Tom Jack, his mother Dorothy Dobbs Jack and his sister, Tommie Ann Jack. Bruce served his country in the U.S. Navy from October 1959 to July 1964. He was a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation. Services will be the direction of Scoggins Funeral Home and Crematory, 637 West Van Alstyne Parkway, Van Alstyne, Texas.

Elizabeth Nally

Services for Elizabeth Nally, 81, of Inola, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 10 at the Chapel of Crossway Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Bill Leveridge. Burial will be at Dolberg Cemetery under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home. Born June 11, 1934 in Pontotoc County, Oklahoma to Leonard and LaVada (Bowlin) Summers, she passed away Monday, July 6, in Inola. She married to Rex Nally in Gainesville, Texas on January 11, 1957. He preceded her in death July 8, 1996. She lived in this area most of her life, attending school at Prairie View and Stratford. She graduated from Stratford High School in 1953. Elizabeth had lived in Sulphur since 1957. Besides being a homemaker, Elizabeth was also an avid reader. She especially enjoyed English literature, mysteries by Simenon and Agatha Christie, and was an “unofficial” authority on the Civil War. She also worked for a time at the local Library. Elizabeth enjoyed classical music. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Patrick Summers, a half brother, Leonard Summers, Jr. and one sister, Dorothy Summers Hurst. She is survived by two sons, James Nally, Sulphur and John Nally, Davis; one granddaughter, Kasey Diane Nally, step-grandson, Josh Bench; two great-grandchildren, Trinity Marie Brown and Tyson Brown and several cousins. Pallbearers will be family and friends

William Edward Branch III

Memorial services for William Edward Branch III, 55, Orange County, CA, will be held Thursday, July 9 in Orange County, CA and on Thursday, July 16 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Davis. He was born on November 6, 1959 to Petra Elizabeth Howell and William Edward Branch, Jr. in Sulphur. He passed away on July 4, 2015 at his home. He was raised in the Davis area and was a graduate of Davis High School. He attended college at Oklahoma State University in Stillwater on a full football scholarship and also the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond. After he graduated from college with a degree in Science Industrial Safety, he moved to Orange County, where he has resided the past 29 years, working for J. Williams Cars of Newport Beach, CA. His hobbies included all offroad activities such as trekking, hiking, boating and was an avid BBQ master and loved inviting and feeding the masses in cookouts at every opportunity. One of his greatest joys was organizing and hosting an annual 4th of July Block Party for his friends and neighbors. He also formed and was chairman of his Neighborhood Association. His personality was bigger than life and he was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone and often teased that “He had a guy” or “he knew a guy that knew a guy!” He was a man of many talents but will probably be remembered most for his generous heart and giving spirit. He never met anyone who didn’t consider him a friend by the end of their first meeting. He was the considered the care-taker of family, neighbors, friends and customers. On the morning after his passing, one of his neighbors wrote, “The grey skies this morning seemed to echo our mourning for the death of a fine man and treasured friend.” He is survived by his wife, Mary Lou, of the home; daughter Laci Roberson, three grandsons: BJ and Dayton Roberson and Nash Norris, all of Morris, Okla.; niece and nephew, Danielle and Joey Simpson, Santa Ana, Calif.; sister, Liz McClure and husband, Wayne, Sulphur; brothers, Doug Branch, Rye, Colo. and Jared Howell and his wife, Dawn, Farmington, N.M.; mother and step-father, Petra Elizabeth and G. R. (Shorty) Howell, Sulphur; nieces, Ryen McClure, Ardmore, Kali McClure, Norman, and nephews, Garret and Logan Howell, Farmington, N.M. and nephew. Tommy Martinez and wife, Mary. and children, Jacob and Katelynn of Orange, Calif. He was preceded in death by his father in 2006 and a nephew, Matthew McClure in 1986. In lieu of flowers, a fund is being set up for an off-road trail to be named in his honor in the Southern California mountains.

Tamela “Tami” Sue Thompson-Dossey

Tamela “Tami” Sue Thompson-Dossey was born December 19, 1960 in McRae, Ga. She passed from this life on July 4, 2015. Tami loved spending time with her family, all of her friends, and all of her “other children” (her dogs). Most of all, she enjoyed being a MeMe to her three grandbabies. She was loved by all and will be missed by many. Tami was preceded in death by her parents John and Annie Sue Profitt. She is survived by he son, Jason Thompson and his wife, Amber, Lone Grove; son, Shaun Lassiter; three grandchildren, Aubree Sue Thompson, Jadon Rowls and Devin James.

Billie Jean Limke

Funeral services for Billie Jean Limke, 79, Sulphur, were held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 31, at Crossway First Baptist Church in Sulphur with Pastor Bill Leveridge officiating. Interment was held at 2:00 p.m. at the Tecumseh Mission Cemetery in Tecumseh under the direction of Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur. Jean was born May 23, 1935 in Tecumseh to the late Clarence and Carmen (Brightwell) Kieffer. She died Tuesday, Jan. 27 in Oklahoma City. Jean and Gilbert L. Limke were married on July 3, 1952 in Tecumseh. He preceded her in death on Feb 28, 2004. Jean grew up in Tecumseh where she attended high school. Early in her married life she was a stay at home mom, caring for her children. After the children were older, Jean went to work as a teller for the First National Bank of Sulphur. Later in life she worked for the Oklahoma School for the Deaf in Sulphur, retiring in 1993 after 20+ years. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling with family and friends and gardening. Jean was a devoted member of the Crossway First Baptist Church, where she served her Lord and Savior in various ways. Survivors include her daughter, Kathy LeGrand and husband Buck, Stillwater; two sons, Keith Limke and wife Janey, Yukon and Kirk Limke and wife Laurie, Edmond; six grandchildren, Ryan Scott Limke, Raena Shae Mutz and husband Shane, Meagan Rickard and husband Brian, Madison Limke, Ryan Buck LeGrand and wife Cecilia and Abby LeGrand; two great-grandchildren, Carter Rickard and Santiago LeGrand; as well as one brother, Joe Kieffer and wife Elaine of Wanette.

Edward Earl “Ed” Barnett

Edward Earl “Ed” Barnett was born September 3, 1953 in Wynnewood to the late Robert Eli and Juanita Gail (Johnson) Barnett. He died Friday, June 5, in Hennepin, at the age of 61. Arrangements are under the direction of Hale’s Funeral Home of Davis. Ed grew up in the Paul's Valley area, graduating from Pernell High School in 1972. He spent much of his career in the oil field working as a driller for the Jones Drilling Co. At the time of his death, Ed worked as a mechanic for the Dollar General Corp, Ardmore Distribution Center. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, gardening, “playing pool at the office” and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Charity Barnett, Lone Grove and Melinda Quintana, Marietta; five grandchildren, Madison, Mahayla, Whitney, Lilliann and Alex; one sister, Juanita Gail Enblom of Davis; as well as numerous niece and nephews. Ed was preceded in death by three sisters, Roberta Ann Starr, Lou Audine Fletcher and Bobbi Jo Hudson and three brothers, Newell Ray Barnett, Robert Cozel Barnett and Patrick Clyde Barnett. A time of remembrance will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 13 at the Hennepin Community Building.
