Mary Alice McDaniel

Graveside services for Mary Alice McDaniel, 75, Sulphur, were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, Aug. 28, at Oaklawn Cemetery officiated by Rev. Willard McCartney, Jr. Interment was at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home of Sulphur. Born October 25, 1939 in Sulphur to Grover L. and Minnie Lee (Worley) Reagan, she passed away Tuesday, Aug. 25 in Ardmore. She married to Otto McDaniel in Sulphur on October 28, 1974. He preceded her in death on March 31, 1984. She had lived in the Sulphur area all of her life, graduating from Sulphur High School. Mary had worked at Sulphur Veterans Center and later at Bill and Loyd’s Hardware before retiring. She attended Central Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Otis and Earl Regan and one sister, Dorothy McCann. She is survived by her sisters and brother-in-law, JoAnn Brown and Ken, Sulphur and Juanita Worley, Sulphur; and brother and sister-in-law, DeWayne “Buddy” Reagan and Rhonda, Sulphur.

Jason Anderson

Memorial services for Jason Anderson, 43 will be held at First Pentecostal Holiness Church Saturday, August 29 at 2:00 p.m. Jason was born December 21, 1971 in Ardmore, Oklahoma to Rocky Anderson and Joyce Anderson Hudson and passed away on August 22 in Purcell at his home. Jason grew up in Sulphur where he attended Sulphur high school. He enjoyed studying the bible, attending church at Calvary Baptist and was a Christian; Jason enjoyed art, drawing, music and electronics. Jason enjoyed spending his spare time with his family and friends. He worked in hotel management for ten years and was planning to attend classes in management. Jason was proceeded in death by one brother, Donald Bruster and survived by his mother Joyce Hudson of Sulphur, Brother Matt Frost and wife Kassie of Sulphur, brother Tracy Sanders and wife Jennifer of Roff, sister Kathy Bruster of Roff, sister Leanne Blocker and husband Cody of Sulphur, nieces and nephews Caden Frost, Hadley Frost, Shandalyn Bruster, Stacey Blocker and Blake Blocker and many good friends from Purcell and Ardmore.

L.W. “Junior” Williams

L.W. “ Junior “ Williams, 71, longtime Saint Louis, Oklahoma resident, died Tuesday, August 4, 2015 in Tecumseh. Junior was born January 6, 1944 in Davis to Luther William and Ethel Cordelia “Delia” (Frost) Williams. Junior was raised in Dougherty and attended Sulphur High School and graduated from there in 1962. Junior had worked for Guinn Oil Company for many years before he started JCTJ Energy, L.L.C. Oil Company, which will be continued by his family. Junior was part of the Trinity Baptist Church Family in Maud. Junior enjoyed fishing in the Washita River. He loved to watch Jayse play baseball, and enjoyed family holiday gatherings at his house. Junior also served his country, by serving in the Army National Guard. Junior married Connie (Ray) Williams on September 21, 1967 in Shawnee. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Connie Williams of the home in Saint Louis; his daughter, Theresa Beverage and her husband Greg of Saint Louis; his grandson, Jayse Beverage of Saint Louis; three brothers, Sam Williams, Don Tyson and George Newby and three sisters, Mary Jensen, Della Gates and Susie Loehman. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Edith Dehring, Ruby Pinkston, Ona Elkins and his brother, Jerry Williams. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, Aug., 7, at the Trinity Baptist Church in Maudwith Butch Bradley officiating. Burial followed at Collins Cemetery in Saint Louis. Visitation. Casket bearers were Greg Beverage, Jayse Beverage, Britt Waltman, Michael Martin, Jason Melot, David Smith and Robert Lowden. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Knight-Swearingen Funeral Home in Maud. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in care of: Trinity Baptist Church in Maud, OK., or to The PKU Foundation, Attn: David Pearson, 7033 Wabash Circle, Dallas.

Eva Laura Scott

Eva Laura Scott, age 98, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2015, in Sulphur. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, in The Chapel at Griffin~Hillcrest with Pastor Donny Custer officiating with interment to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Ardmore. Eva was born on January 24, 1917, to Walter Davis Chilcoat and Hattie (Duckworth) Chilcoat at Wewoka. A 1934 graduate of Sulphur High School, Eva excelled at academics. She married M.E. “Ed” Scott on October 13, 1938, in Madill. The couple lived in Sulphur for a short time and later moved to Oklahoma City. Ed enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was stationed in New York City. He worked in the naval yard and she took buses and trains by herself to be with him.
Eva took a position in the shipyards as a “Rosie the Riveter” to help the war effort. When Ed received his honorable discharge in 1945, the couple moved to Ardmore and Eva became the manager for Saybrook Fabric until her retirement. The couple became members of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she expressed her love for the Lord, always striving to make the church look beautiful with her decorations. In October of 2007, she moved to the Village Lodge and she embraced it as her home. As a warm and engaging person, she enjoyed the company of the other residents, always looking for the next life to touch in her positive and encouraging fashion. In her personal time, Eva was creative and was always working with her hands. She was an avid seamstress and made jewelry and floral centerpieces. Eva was known for her uplifting hand-written notes to family and friends and kind wisdoms that she would bestow. She even published her personal life story at the age of 90. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters. Eva is survived by her daughter Judy Hobbs and husband, Larry, of Sulphur; three grandsons, Ryan Hobbs and wife, Jill, of Ardmore, Russell Hobbs and wife, Randi, of Sulphur, and Rodney Hobbs and wife, Laura, of Midlothian, Texas; 10 great-grandchildren, Deryn, Hadyn, Hudson, Harper, Avery, Karsyn, Huntley, Hannah, Caleb, and Eva; one sister, LaVernne Nichols of Sulphur and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. Those serving as pallbearers will be Gary Scott, Larry Scott, Ralph Scott, Mike Wilson, Scott Landgraf, and James Wilson.

Virginia Lee (Whiten) Hill

Funeral services for Virginia Lee (Whiten) Hill, 73, Sulphur, were held 11:00 a.m., Monday, Aug. 31, at the Midway Hill Baptist Church with Pastor Willard McCartney, Jr. officiating. Interment followed at the Drake Cemetery under the direction of Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur. Virginia was born December 24, 1941 in Sulphur, to the late O.B. and Leota (Sharp) Whiten. She died Thursday, Aug. 27, in Oklahoma City. Virginia and Howard L. Hill were married on July 23, 1966 in Durant. Virginia grew up in Sulphur, where she graduated from Sulphur High School in 1959. She worked over 10 years as a beautician prior to working as a hostess at the Artesian Hotel. Virginia was very much a people person, never meeting a stranger. She was always known as one who would “light up a room” with just her mere presence. Virginia was a very crafting person, decorating her home for every season and holiday. She was an avid Miami Dolphins fan and enjoyed Saturday morning garages sales. Family was very important to her. She enjoyed spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. In earlier years, Virginia loved to dance. Survivors include her husband, Howard; two sons, Randy Dilbeck and wife Cindy, Shawnee and Todd Dilbeck and wife Bobbie, Choctaw; two daughters, Vicki Geyer and husband Jody, Butner and Becky Burger and Jerry, Dougherty; 11 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; one brother, Mark Clark and wife Pam, Yukon; several nieces and nephews and numerous cousins. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; step-parents, C.C. and Della Clark and a sister, Toby Ann Noland. Serving as pallbearers were Jeremy Borromeo, Houston Dilbeck, Buster Wright, Jody Geyer, Derek Whiten, Russell Lindsey and Hunter Burger.

Roger Dale Oxley

Services for Roger Dale Oxley, 66, Coalgate, were held Friday Sept. 4, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Lighthouse Holiness Church officiated by Rev. Glen Clary and Thomas Mahan. Burial was at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home of Sulphur. Roger was born July 10, 1949 in Sulphur, to Ulus Dewey and Bertha Mae (Brooks) Oxley. He passed away Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015. He married to Dianne Pearl (Eades) Oxley in Nashville, Tenn., on October 19, 1971. He grew up in the Sulphur and Ardmore area. Roger graduated from Eastern Oklahoma State College with Associate Degree in Applied Science. He graduated with a Bachelors and Masters in Science from Northeastern State University. Roger lived in Longtown for 15 years and had lived in Coalgate the past two years He had worked as a journeyman-lineman. He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters, Purley, Alma, Patsy, Oleta, and Virginia; grandson, Aaron Corbin Oxley- Kinsey; son, Joshua Teves; nephew, Donald Joe Richmond; uncles, Raymond and Alford Brooks; uncle, Jessie and aunt Francis Oxley and sister-in-law, Rita Oxley. Roger’s family, who will greatly miss him are his, include his wife, Dianne Pearl Oxley; children and spouses, Jessica and Kyle Phillips, Jason and Secelia Oxley, Elijah and Arlene Oxley, Dianne and Thomas Mahan, Leah and Jarrod Thomas, Ezekiel Oxley, Samuel Oxley, Isaac and Paula Oxley, Jonah Oxley, Zerubbabel Oxley, Rachael Oxley, Wisdom Oxley, Faith Oxley, Jessie Teves, Daniel Teves, Hannah Teves, Levi Teves; grandchildren, Jonathan Oxley-Kinsey, Sara’beth Oxley-Kinsey, Emily Oxley Kinsey, Jordan Bahr, Jasmine Bahr, Zachary Oxley, Ethan Oxley, Doran Oxley, Josiah Oxley, Elijah Oxley, II, Jedidiah Oxley, Ava Victoria Oxley, Mathew Mahan, Megan Mehan, Kristin Mahan, Roger Thomas Mahan, Michael Mahan, Kaylin Thomas, Lucifer Isaiah Oxley, Nathan Michaiah Oxley; three brothers and spouses, Jay Oxley, Dewey Oxley and Connie, Jimmy Oxley and Lisha; two sisters and spouses, Judy Hazlitt and Tim, Debbie Manwarin and David; numerous nephews and nieces; great nephews and nieces and cousins, including, Jesse Dewayne Oxley. Roger was an outlaw and renegade. He wore many hats, husband, father, uncle, and friend. Roger loved to fish on the Washita and explore the various wonders of Oklahoma mountains. He often panned for gold and discovered his passion was fulfilled through his God and the children the Almighty blessed him with throughout his life. Anyone who came to visit might be preached at or serenaded as Roger played the guitar and shared the many beautiful songs God gave him. He never met a stranger and always extended a helpful hand. Roger loved the Lord with all his heart, mind and soul. Pallbearers were Jason Oxley, Elijah Oxley, Bryan Hall, Michael Dove, Russell Allen, Mathew Ketcherside, Jonathan Oxley- Kinsey, Ezekiel Oxley. Honorary bearers were Jay Oxley, Dewey Oxley, Jimmy Oxley and Jesse Dwayne Oxley. Be it family or friend, if you listen closely you can hear him shout “ Hallelujah.”

William Don Hussey

Services for William Don Hussey, 59, Joy, were held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday Sept. 8, at the First Baptist Church in Wynnewood officiated by Rev. Bill Leveridge and assisted by Rev. Lynn Phillips . Burial followed at Oaklawn Cemetery in Wynnewood under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home of Wynnewood. Born on May 6, 1956 in Paul's Valley to Bobbie Caroline (Taylor) and William Samuel Hussey, he passed away in Sulphur on September 2, 2015. Don attended school in Wynnewood and graduated from Wynnewood High School in 1974. He then went on and spent time at Murray State College. After school he worked for a subsidiary of Kerr-McGee Corporation where he worked in the pot ash mines in New Mexico. Later they moved him back home to the refinery in Wynnewood. His last years were spent working for a local ranch. Don loved athletics and played softball all of his life. He enjoyed kids and coaching baseball and softball. Children truly loved him and he had a special connection with them. Don was a member of the First Baptist Church in Wynnewood. He was preceded in death by his son, Chad and brother, David. Survivors include one daughter, Danea and spouse, Nathan Ray, Joy; his father, Sam, Joy; his mother, Bobbie, Oklahoma City; brother, Samuel Bob and spouse, Risa Hussey, Dallas, Texas; two sisters, Diane and spouse, Jim Freeman, Sulphur and Terra and spouse, Hayley Frost, Dallas, Texas and the loves of his life, two granddaughters, Lily and Marley. Pallbearers were Scott Freeman, Cale Freman, Colin Hussey, Sam Hussey, Virgil Betterton and Aaron Bruner. Honorary bearers were Nathan Ray, Bill Dulaney, Bob Dulaney, The Chick’s Crew and National Championship Softball Team.

Bonney Ray Martin

Bonney Ray Martin, 80, Wynnewood, died on September 8, 2015. He owned Martin’s Fertilizer & Equipment in Wynnewood and Paul's Valley, was a farmer-stockman, and in the oil and gas business. He was the eighth of 11 children born to Eva Clo (Bean) Martin and James Fletcher Martin on October 8, 1934 at Chigley, Oklahoma southeast of Wynnewood. He was the husband of Loreata Martin. Bonney achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, and was active in 4-H club where he held the office of president for Garvin County. He became a Christian as a teenager and was a member of the Methodist church. He was a member of Elmore City’s inaugural football team as a senior and graduated from Elmore City High School in 1953 where he earned his nickname “Bull.” He earned a football scholarship to Murray State College where he also was a member of their track team. He worked at KD Emert Well Servicing and Shebester, Toland & Reeves Well Servicing. He was employed at the Kerr-McGee refinery for 10 years before beginning his own business in 1964. In 1954, Bonney married Loreata Mullens in the First United Methodist Church in Elmore City, Oklahoma. They had four children. Bonney was a devoted husband, wonderful father and friend to many. He is survived by his wife, Loreata, of the home; son, Stephen Martin and wife Patricia of Wynnewood; three daughters, Susie Tabor and husband Phillip, Wynnewood, Brenda Sechrist, Wynnewood, and Julie Rayburn and husband Travis, Ardmore. He is also survived by sisters, Sylvia Marks, Yorba Linda, Calif., Nahoma Nation, Eugene, Ore., Kathy Regier, Cordell and brothers, James Martin, Wynnewood and Bob Martin, Oklahoma City. He is also survived by his eight grandchildren, Diana Martin, Stephanie Stevenson, Sarah Martin, Phillip Tabor, Jr., Geoffrey Tabor, Aaron Sechrist, Jentri Rayburn, Drew Rayburn and one step-grandson, Shawn Sechrist. In addition he is survived by five great-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Eva and Fletcher Martin; his brother, Vernon Martin and sisters, Vertie Griggs-Farley, Wanda Karr, Stella Duncan and Drusilla Pruitt. Casket bearers were Charles Knighten, James Lewis, Kevin Lewis, Travis Rayburn, Aaron Sechrist, Geoffrey Tabor, Phillip Tabor, and Phillip Tabor, Jr. Funeral services were held on Friday, September 11, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church in Wynnewood with Curtis Stubblefield officiating. Interment was held in the Elmore City Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.
