Faye Marvine Day

Faye Marvine Day of Paul's Valley, Oklahoma was born to Marvin and Hazel (Arms) Coyle on October 5, 1930 at Arms Farm in Murray County and passed from this life on July 10, 2016 in Paul's Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 85 years. Faye grew up and attended school in Sulphur. She was a homemaker and lifelong member of the Church of Christ in Paul's Valley. In her spare time she enjoyed painting and taking care of her home. The highlights of her life were her grandchildren and family. Ms. Day is survived by: two sons, Fred Day, Jr. and Tommy Day, both of Paul's Valley; 1 sister, Judy Patrick of Sarcoxie, Mo.; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two nephews, Rusty Peterson of Waveland, Miss. and Joe Patrick of Sarcoxie, Mo. and a host of other relatives. Ms. Day was preceded in death by a son, Danny Day; her parents, Marvin Coyle and Hazel Arms Bass and Coy Bass; one sister, Joe Ann Peterson and niece, Jami Ann Peterson. Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, July 14, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the Wooster Funeral Home Chapel with Dwight Brown officiating. Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery under the direction of Wooster Funeral Home.

Dorotha R. Howerton

Services for Dorotha R. Howerton, of Davis, will be held Thursday July 14, 2016 at 9:00 AM at DeArman’s Funeral Chapel officiated by Rev. Barry Williams. Burial will be 2:00 p.m. at Fort Gibson National Cemetery under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home. Born August 21, 1914 in Harrison, Ark., to Claud Henry NS Onie Magdalene (Buse) Kennicutt, She passed away Sunday, July 10 IN Davis, Oklahoma at the age of 101 years, 10 months and 19 days. She married to Doyle Elmo Howerton on October 13, 1955 in Turley, Okla. He preceded her in death February 14, 2003. She moved to Tahlequah at a young age, then lived in California, Idaho, Texas, Broken Arrow before moving to Sulphur. She had worked as a sales clerk in jewelry and cosmetics. She was also preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Janet and a step-son, Doyle Jr.(Tink); sisters, Ada and Velda and brothers, Chester, Walter, and Mitchel. She is survived by her three brothers, J. D. Kennicutt, Herman Kennicutt and George Kennicutt; one sister, Hazel Sharpe; three grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and11great-great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be grandsons, great grandsons, and great-great grandsons.

Frankie Monroe Richards

Funeral services for Frankie Monroe Richards, 80, Davis, were held 10:00 a.m., Friday, Aug. 12, at the First Baptist Church of Davis with the Reverend Clay Shannon officiating. Interment followed at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis under the direction of Hale’s Funeral Home of Davis. Frankie was born July 5, 1936 in Alysworth, OK to the late James William and Clorean (Turner) Richards. He died Wednesday, Aug 10, in Davis. Frankie and the former Ms Helen Lenora Atchley were married on Jan 25, 1961 in Ardmore. Frankie grew up in the Madill/Tishomingo area. Following their marriage, he and Helen made their home in Davis. Frankie spent 40+ years working as a loader operator for Sooner Rock & Sand, west of Davis. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Frankie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Davis. Survivors include his wife Helen; two daughters, Janet Coll, Davis and Mary Richards, Yukon; three sons, Tim Richards and Ben Richards, both of Davis and Bruce Richards, Paoli; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and two brothers, James Richards, Hanford, Calif. and Robert Richards, Madill and two half brothers, Alvin Emmons, Oklahoma City and Junior Richards, Council Bluffs, Iowa. In addition to his parents, Frankie was preceded in death by one sister, Ola Mae Fuller and one brother, Albert Richards.

Sandra Lavern Swearingen

Services for Sandra Lavern Swearingen, 71, Sulphur, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 18, at Gene Autry Baptist Church with Rev. David Colaw officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur under the direction of DeArman Funeral Home of Sulphur. Born November 14, 1944 in Okmulgee to J. B. and Norita (St.Cyr) Brose, she passed away Friday, August 12, in Sulphur She married Frank Swearingen on October 27, 1972 at Miami, Okla. He preceded her in death February 9, 2013. She grew up in Beggs where she graduated from High School. She had worked as office manager for several companies before her retirement. She lived in Ada from 1975 until 2001 when she moved to Sulphur. While in Ada, she worked for Van Horn Oil Co. and PrePaid Legal. She worked as office manager for Sooner Foods in Sulphur for 12 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, a son Greg Swearingen, and an infant. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Monica Neal and Rob, of Ada; sons and daughters-in-law, Mark Swearingen and Brandy of Nebo and Rusty Swearingen and Donna, Midwest City; daughter-in-law, Angie Swearingen of Dallas, Texas; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and a brother, Jerry Brose of Savannah, Ga. Pallbearers will be Bruce Swearingen, Scott Davis, Gerald Robison, Josh Swearingen, Jeremy Donaldson, Tommy St.Cyr, John Eggleston, and Riley Keith.

Edwinna Wittmann

Edwinna Wittmann, 85, went to be with our Lord on Thursday, July 28, 2016 in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Edwinna was born on the family farm north of Sulphur to Lonnie James (Buster) and Ethel Atteberry on April 22, 1931. The farm is the present day location of the Murray County Antique Tractor and Implement Association. She attended Oak Grove grade school and Hickory High school. She was a stay at home mom for many years and later worked and retired from Tinker AFB. She was married to Dale Wittmann for 45 years. One of the many joys they shared together through the years was traveling in their recreational vehicles. They saw and experienced many wonderful things during those trips together. Sometimes some of the children and grandchildren tagged along. Edwinna loved doing arts and crafts. She became very skilled in her painting and entered many of them in the county fair where she earned several blue ribbons. She also got involved with genealogy and traced the many branches of our family. One result of her research was to establish contact and closeness with relatives in Tennessee. She and Dale began to attend their annual reunions. These are yet other members of the family who will miss her. Edwinna was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, John Atteberry and Joy Lee; and son, Ronald Elwyn Lee. Those left to cherish their memories are her husband; children, Ronald’s widow, Rita, of Corpus Christi, Texas, Mike Lee of Shawnee, Lorna and Pete Blochowiak of Shawnee, Kendal and Kellie Lee of Perkins, Victor and Sharla Lee of Shawnee, Judy and Edward Aguirre, Sr. of Tecumseh and Carla and Jim Craig of Norman; stepchildren, Kathryn and Kent Crow of Shawnee, Lloyd and Brenda Wittmann of Shawnee and Betty Anne and Richard Taylor of Purcell; 20 grandchildren; five step-grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Edwinna is also survived by three sisters, Albertha Spiva of Perkins, Wanda Donaldson of Strafford, Missouri and Brondel Coyle of Sulphur. Visitation will be from 2-5pm on Sunday, July 31 2016 at Resthaven Funeral Home in Shawnee, OK. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday Aug. 1, at New Beginnings Church in Shawnee, with Brother Mike Taylor and Brother Larry Sparks officiating. Interment followed at Resthaven Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Andy Lee, Paul Lee, Doug Lee, David Lee, Jacob Aguirre, and Cody Carlon. Honorary Pallbearers were John Lee, Bryan Lee and Zac Carlon. Services were under the direction of Resthaven Funeral Home of Shawnee.

Minnie Ann “Ann” Kimbro

Funeral services for Minnie Ann “Ann” Kimbro, 70, Davis, were held 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2016 at the First Assembly of God Church in Sulphur with Pastor Dwaine Duck officiating. Interment followed at the Green Hill Cemetery in Davis under the direction of Hale’s Funeral Home of Davis. Ann was born November 18, 1945 in Lone Grove to the late Velter C. and Nancy Jane (Pierce) Keith. She died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016 in Davis, at the age of 70 years, 9 months and 16 days. Ann and Wesley Jack Kimbro were married on June 12, 1964 in Ardmore. Ann, growing up in the Lone Grove/Plainview area, was a 1964 graduate of Plainview High School. She spent several years working as a beautician prior to working as a bookkeeper for the Lanic Mills Co. and Wiley Manufacturing, both of Oklahoma City. Later she kept books for Masters Oil of Davis. In her spare time, Ann enjoyed camping, playing cards with her family and doing wood-work. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Sulphur. Survivors include her husband, Wes; two sons, David Kimbro and wife, Melanie and Brian Kimbro and wife, Kimberly, all of Davis; four grandchildren, Cami, Tynden, Rainey and Bailey Kimbro, all of Davis; four sisters, Barbara Anderson and husband, Gerald, Sharon Cornelison and husband, Dale, Marilyn Welch and Carilyn Brintle and husband, Randy; five brothers, Bud Keith and wife, Linda, Gary Keith and wife, Sharon, Steve Keith and wife, Sandra, Tony Keith and wife, Leslie and Clint Keith and wife, Lisa; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ann was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Ditto and Janice Cottrell and one brother, Arlen Pierce. Serving as pallbearers were Tynden Kimbro, Junior Kimbro, Jody Cornelison, Steve Cottrell, Kenneth Keith and Coy Priddy.

Willie Melvin “W.M.” Shirley

Funeral services for Willie Melvin “W.M.” Shirley, 76, Davis, will be held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016 at the Gilfield Baptist Church in Davis with the Reverend Fred Johnson, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at the Five Mile Cemetery in Hennepin under the direction of Hale’s Funeral Home of Davis. A wake service will be held in the Hale’s Memorial Chapel, Wednesday, Sept 14, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. W.M. was born April 23, 1940 in Elmore City to the late Buerl and Elsie (Stevenson) Shirley. He died Tuesday, September 6, 2016 in Davis, at the age of 76 years, four months and 13 days. W.M. and the former Ms. Clara Mae Ervin were married on September 20, 1965 in Gainesville, Texas. W.M. grew up in the Katie area where he attended school. He spent 50+ years of his life working in automobile servicing for several car dealerships in the area including dealership owned by Bill Stewart, Pete Parker, David Foster and Mike Hellack. W.M. was always a dedicated employee and worked hard to meet the needs of the customers. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and in earlier years, riding motor cycles. Survivors include his wife, Clara; one daughter, Anita Shirley; one son, Tommy Ervin, all of Davis; 12 grandchildren, Iisha Shirley, Chad Shirley, Ra’Chel Knight, Willie Melvin “Trey” Shirley, III, Cameron Shirley, Callie Shirley, Tammy Ervin, Aundre McDonald, Thomas McDonald, Demekedrick Bradford, Shamar Bradford and LaKeisha Bradford; numerous great-grandchildren; as well as seven sisters, Thelma Braggs, Helen Dellefonte’, Audra Scott, Leona Thomas, Patricia Shirley, Debra Ann Shirley and Tammy Shirley; and five brothers, John Shirley, Billy Ray Shirley, Wendell Shirley, Larry Shirley and Steve Shirley. In addition to his parents, W.M. was preceded in death by one son, Willie Melvin Shirley, Jr.; one grandson, Kobe Shirley and one sister, Wilma Frazier. Serving as casket bearers will be Tommy Ervin, Bill Hill, Chad Shirley, Bryant Black, Trey Shirley, Cameron Shirley, Bobby Lucas, Ron Shirley, Jeff Scott, Wayne Scott and Marcus Knight. Honorary bearers will be Aundre McDonald and Thomas McDonald.

O.D. Owens

Services, with military honors, for O.D. Owens were held 1:00 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 8, 2016 at the First Christian Church in Sulphur with the Pastor Tim Kowalski officiating. Inurnment was held at the Oaklawn Cemetery in Sulphur under the direction of Hale’s Funeral Home of Sulphur. O.D. was born March 9, 1937 in Sulphur to the late Oliver D. and Iwannah Enola (Duston) Owens. He died Monday, Sept. 5, 2016 in Sulphur, at the age of 79 years, 5 months and 26 days. O.D. and the former Ms Betty Ruth Patton were married on December 5, 1964 in Schulenburg, Texas. She preceded him in death on Sept 20, 2009. O.D. grew up in Sulphur, where he graduated from high school in 1955. Following high school he joined the United States Navy where he served during the Korean Conflict, the Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War era. In 1959, O.D. received his certification from the Oklahoma State Board of Cosmetology practicing in Sulphur for several years. After he was Honorably Discharged from the US Navy in 1976, O.D. worked for several agencies within US Government. Some of those agencies included the Sport Fisheries and Wildlife Dept. at the Indiahoma Job Corps Center, the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Philadelphia, Miss., Bureau of Reclamation in Carlsbad, N.M. and the Bureau of Mines in Rolla, Mo. After retiring from the U.S. Government, O.D. and Betty returned to Sulphur to enjoy their retirement years. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading Louie Lamour Western Books, traveling and telling jokes. He also spent 15+ years raising Black and Tan Coonhounds. O.D. was a member of the First Christian Church of Sulphur, the Sulphur Elks Lodge as well as, a 58-year member of the Sulphur Masonic Lodge #144. Survivors include his three daughters, Kimberly Keena and husband, Donald, Tracie Sousa, both of Sulphur and Sherisa Littlefield and husband, Ray of Apple Valley, Minn.; seven grandchildren, John Mettauer, April Luxner, Erin Hargis, J.P. Mettauer, Jonathon Sousa, Duston Littlefield and Briary Rime; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous cousins. In addition to his parents and wife, O.D. was preceded in death by an infant brother, Bobby Owens and son-in-law, John Sousa.
